Update 1/27/22 :
Had a chance to try this again with CommuniTea. Still a great black tea with a caffiene kick. The chocolate flavor was stronger as the tea cooled.
This is a great black tea that is complimented with a pleasant chocolate flavor. It was an enjoyable cup to start off my day .

My taste taster is in love with this tea. Not exactly hot cocoa, but a near relative. Trying it iced this afternoon.

Update:
I liked this more today. I’m not sure if my tastes changed, or the tea changed. I added the whipped cinnamon honey - the cinnamon might have helped.

4/13/21 (3 stars):
I’ll start by saying I’m rarely impressed with chocolate teas. They are never chocolatey enough, so I find them better in blends where it’s only part of the intended flavor. This one was quite bitter black, so I added honey. That improved the taste but it tastes like black tea with honey mainly, rather than chocolate.

I love a good, bitter dark chocolate, so this tea is a favorite of mine. Steeped at 190° for about 3 minutes, it's a little bitter, but full of rich chocolate flavor. If you prefer milk chocolate over dark, you might go for Adagio's chocolate truffle or chocolate chip, but for dark chocolate lovers, steep it a little cooler that advised and you're in for a treat!

A solid chocolate tea that satisfies the hot cocoa craving!

This is a neutral black tea (by that I mean smooth and not bitter). I wish my packet had more of a chocolate taste which is the reason for the lower review.

Chocolate and tea, what could go wrong? This was a simple black tea with chocolate notes. I sweetened with Stevia and Monk Fruit blend to bring out the chocolate flavors. A splash of cream elevated my cup. This would make a nice latte.

Update: it did make a nice latte 😊 Sip, sip away!

UPDATE: Yeah, still underwhelmed by this brew. I NEED MORE CHOCOLATE! MORE! Happy Sipping!

This blend underwhelms me. Nothing terrible, but nothing I would reach for on a regular basis. But it's sad, because CHOCOLATE. I'm led to believe I will be having a decadent treat, but I will not. The chocolate flavor is very muted when plain. Sweetener is definitely needed. I'm sure this will be heaven to some, so to those who find this blend yummy, happy sipping to you!

If chocolate is a flavor you enjoy, I am sure this tea would be wonderful. Unfortunately, this is not a flavor I like so this tea is not for me.

This tea was delicious and smooth, I really enjoyed it. When I opened the pouch a strong chocolate aroma was present, although it didn't seem to translate to the taste.
This time I tried this CommuniTea I added a bit of sugar and that really helped to bring the chocolate flavor forward.

CommuniTEA Sample: Trying this straight gave a very chocolaty flavor. It started out with a full unsweetened chocolate flavor, but then as you sip it mellows out a bit and tastes more like a dessert.

So I hilariously messed up this tea by thinking I could treat it like a dirty chai. It was a calculated risk, but I’m bad at math. I look forward to getting this in the future when I can enjoy it like the black tea it is

This tea has a lovely aroma, but it takes a bit of care to brew without battling bitterness. As both cocoa nibs and Ceylon can have a bit of a bitter bite, I lowered my brew temp just a bit to 200 and brewed for 2 minutes. Lovely cuppa black tea with sweet nuances of chocolate. This isn't an in-your-face sweet dessert tea with heavy chocolate notes...just a chocolate kiss mixed with warm malty Ceylon. Nice base tea for blends, or enjoyable when a stronger black tea with sweet notes is wanted. Lovely cup of tea! I drank half of my cup plain, savoring that awesome Ceylon taste (big big fan of strong, bold black teas!), then added just a touch of sf chocolate non-dairy creamer and a dollop of sf caramel syrup (Torani). A light, sweet latte! mmmmm!

I love the chocolate tea, it is delicious and fun to drink. I use milk and sweetener to bring out all the chocolate flavor. The chocolate tea is excellent to blend with other flavors.

Upon opening the packet, the tea leaves issued a strong aroma of chocolate. My packet included 5 g of tea leaves.

I added 11 grams of tea sugar to my 12 oz mug as I waited for my tea water to reach 190° F. I steeped my tea for 3 minutes.

Upon tasting the tea, I noted a chocolate flavour with the black tea flavour underneath. This was a lovely flavour and would probably be quite nice with some vanilla almond milk.

While this tea is very good on its own it really shines in combinations with other flavors

This is one of the best chocolate flavored black teas I have ever had. I tried this tea first at a tea tasting and everything after felt disappointing, which is unfair to the other teas because they were all good too.

I have been buying this tea for 6 years. I have sampled different brands of chocolate tea, but for my taste this is the best. I drink it with whole milk and brew it decaffinated at times. Life is always better with a good cup of tea.
Thank you.

I found something just like this at a local shop but wanted to see if yours was similar. It was nearly identical. I'm so happy I found this. The flavor is rich and not overly sweet with a great chocolatey balance. No bitterness.

★★★☆☆

I like this well enough in blends, but I've noticed when it is on it's own, the chocolate scent/flavor feels a bit stale. Still a pretty good tea overall though!

This is a very average tea. It tastes strongly of black tea with just a hint of chocolate. Pleasant to drink but nothing special.

This is a winner. It is hard to find chocolate teas with authentic chocolate flavor..It is a mild tea with a mild chocolate flavor. Great blend of flavors. Perfect for the Autumn season. @adagioteas

I think this is good, but I am really craving very dark, very rich deep chocolate flavor that can carry itself in a blend (I bought it to mix with cinnamon tea and red chiles for a mexican hot chocolate type tea). This doesn t quite get deep or rich enough for my tastes and so far I ve had better luck blending the chocolate chip tea. That said, I m not sure there s a tea that will get a deep enough chocolate flavor to make me happy! I ve tried this, chocolate chip, and chocolate truffle... I will have to blend some sort of darker, coffee flavor in somewhere to get the richness I want. @adagioteas

My mom is a chocoholic and absolutely loved this tea.

I was quite pleasantly surprised at how good this was. Nice and mellow with a great chocolate flavor! Not bitterness at all! I like my black teas a bit stronger, so I brewed it a bit longer. I added about 4 pieces of rock sugar to an 8oz cup. Perfect. I highly recommend. I will definitely be buying this again.

this is the best chocolate tea I've found so far, I love it
I still love this tea, it has become my everyday cupa.

★★★★★

This is not a tea that tastes more like chocolate than tea and it is not sweet on it's own. What I find it to be is a good rich tea flavor with a pleasant aroma that hints of chocolate. I was hesitant to order it, because I generally like for my tea to be pretty straightforward tea and I never add anything. I am so happy I decided to sample it and think it is a great tea for any tea lover.

We love this tea- the whole family of 7! As chocoholics, just add some fresh cream from the farm or store and a little sweetness if you don’t like it so dark, which we enjoy dark chocolate, and you get a decadent dessert tea! Don’t believe me?! Give it a try yourself with a sample pack!

Like with the chocolate chip tea, I found this chocolate tea in decent flavor but still lacking that full bodied rich tea liquor that I enjoy when having chocolate teas.
This tea, like the chocolate chip tea, does very well when mixed with other teas to offer a chocolatey flavor and it does taste fine on its own. Though i do feel like i prefer to have it mixed with other teas to add flavor than rather on its own.

This was pretty good, especially with sugar, but the chocolate flavor wasn't super strong. It tasted more of black tea than it did of chocolate, but like I said, with sugar it was decent. If you like chocolate a lot, you might want to look for something with stronger chocolate flavors! Maybe some of the recommendations in other reviews would suit you.

★★★☆☆

The tea didn't have at a strong chocolate flavor. I added orange honey which brought out more of a chocolate flavor. Really not a fan. Very mild chocolate with a black tea bite.

Today's CommuniTea packet is chocolate, a blend of black tea, cocoa nibs and chocolate flavor. Out of the packet, it the chocolate aroma is lovely. I took the suggestion of some other reviewers to lower theemperature a bit and increase the brewing time. I think it worked, it tasted chocolatey. I'm still not sure though how I feel about chocolate tea. All in all its an okay brew, perhaps better if I would have added sugar. (12 oz of water at 195 for 4 minutes)

Smells like chocolate, has chocolate it in, tastes... eh, kinda like chocolate.
It does have a cocoa-esqe flavor, but if you’re expecting hot chocolate level of flavor the you’ll have to look elsewhere. It s not bad, but I prefer it in blends.

Upon opening the packet I was greeted with an intense, chocolate smell. It’s akin to chocolate syrup, slightly artificial, but not unpleasant. Nostalgic.

Brewed 2g with 8oz of water at 195° for 3 min. The initial note I tasted was the bitterness of the Ceylon. I’ve discovered that as it cools the chocolate flavor comes through more. A bit of sugar and a splash of cream tames the bitterness further. If you still find it too bitter, I suggest trying a second steep, adding sugar and milk. It further reduces the bitterness, although it also reduces the chocolate intensity as well.

In relation to Chocolate Truffle, I’d rate the truffle blend a half a star higher than this one. Truffle is more chocolatey and creamy, less bitter and more drinkable. I think this tea is a good base for blends. Comparing the two is like comparing pure dark chocolate with...well, a truffle lol. If you like dark chocolate, I think you’ll be satisfied with this tea. Hope this helps anyone trying to decide!
