It smells fudgy! Of course the flavor isn't as strong as the scent of the tea leaves, but you can definitely taste the chocolate. Milk dilutes it, however. I didn't need sweetener for this one.
Ceylon tea and rich dark chocolate flavor. Decadent chocolate liquor texture, brightened by the tang of the Ceylon.

I like this one with a cube of sugar and a splash of milk. Or added to other teas to add chocolate flavour to other blends.
Love this tea. Anyone who loves chocolate needs this in their tea collection.
strong chocolate smell like cocoa pebbles, taste is more subtle and bitter
This tea is one of my favorites. I like to mix with a little cream and just a hint of mint or candy cane.

Oh, chocolate tea!
Who would have ever thought that
These pair so nicely?
Not bad. The chocolate smell is very strong and heavenly. But I kind of felt that the chocolate taste was a bit lacking.
I mix this with almond tea and it makes a wonderful cup. Add some cream flavored tea and you could drink it all day.
I didn't care for the chocolate tea at first but the more I tried them, alone and in combinations with other teas, the more I liked them. Sometimes I drink this as is and other times I mix it with other flavors. Very nice.
I liked this tea more after trying the chocolate chip flavored black tea, because that one is not great. If you want a chocolatey/dessert black, get this one.
This is not my favorite. It's alright. I prefer the valentine's tea if i want something chocolatey.
great tea all the way around. Steep for 3-4 minutes, no more, and use boiling water, as always.
Very strong flavor with this loose leaf tea. If you combine it with another flavor be careful to use sparingly with the other flavor. It works great with the raspberry loose leaf tea. Let the raspberry tea be the dominant tea: 1 teaspoon of chocolate to 3 teaspoons of raspberry, obviously depending on the amount of tea you are making.
Mild chocolate taste, does not over power the tea's taste. I was expecting a more pronounced chocolate flavor, but this is pleasant.
Subtle dark chocolate in a cup. It is especially good with a jigger of butterscotch or peppermint schnapps as an after dinner drink. @adagioteas
Smells far better than it tastes. (This seems to be a common problem with chocolate teas, in my experience.) I'm giving it three stars because I think it might work well for blending, but as a standalone, it doesn't taste much like chocolate, and it also has a slightly chemical tang to it. Definitely not my favorite.
the chocolate flavor feels a touch artificial but it's still a nice tea
Great tea for when I am wanting something sweet/dessert like!
This tea is a good one to have on hand, especially to mix if with other flavors like caramel and vanilla.
So many good chocolate teas! This is not the best among them but still yummy.
great to blend with others like cherry (for a black forest cake kinda thing), or almond oolong for a buttery sweetness, or a spiced one for a non-cheat treat.
I added some Cardamom, Cloves, Valerian, and Rock Sugar to my brew of Chocolate. I was hoping for something like their Arabica Mocha, but unfortunately it was nowhere near the chocolatey flavor I love. In fact, I hardly tasted it. Instead, and this may be my fault, but the spices really took over. I will have to play around with this one, but it is nowhere near a favorite of mine. I do not know if I would recommend this tea.
good base to mix your own blends. Pairs nicely with the almond oolong.
My girlfriend is very very picky about tea but this is one she loves. Its amazing and she can't get enough of it.
Smooth, slightly sweet. I would have given it 5 stars if I hadn't tried the decadent Chocolate Truffle tea first.
Update: when brewed lower this tea is delicious, but for mixing with other teas its phenomenal, I like to mix with wild strawberry!!
I always read Jim's review and basically follow his instructions, they never steer me wrong and today I was so excited to try my tea I just straight up made it. What was I thinking, lol. The black tea is quite bitter and if I had just slowed my roll, I could have avoided that. I added honey and vegan cream and it doesn't taste too bad now. Very earthy cacao comes through. I will definitely do a 2nd steep and follow Jim's suggestion of 190° and im pretty sure it will be absolutely delicious. Not a bad blend but I definitely prefer the Chocolate Chai and Irish Stout when it comes to chocolately teas as those are both probably in my top 5 Adagio blends.
The chocolate aroma from the dry tea is amazing. When steeped, I didn't find the chocolate taste as strong until I added a small bit of sweetener and cream. Very good!
Chocolate teas are just not my thing. This smells good, but the flavor is underwhelming. My husband did enjoy it though. He enjoyed the bitter chocolate flavors. This one does better in a blend in my opinion.
Steeped 195° for 2.5 mins. Cheers!
CommunityTEA Packet: Very nice dark chocolate taste especially with milk and sweetener. The chocolate tea is perfect for Fandom blends. Steep 3 minutes: Temp 212:
This a good tea, and I mix it with other teas, I brew it at 190 @ 3 min.)
Delicious, smooth and rich. Exactly the happy pairing I would have hoped for between smooth and creamy chocolate and robust black tea. I drank this with some sugar and cream!
Steeped at a bit of a lower temperature after reading some reviews to try and avoid bitterness. Still slightly bitter, but not by much. I love this one mixed in with others, but not a huge fan of drinking it by itself.
You can't go wrong with a classic chocolate tea. As is always the case with dessert teas, I drank this one with milk and sweetener, and I recommend you do the same!
This tea has a stronger chocolate scent, than it does chocolate flavor. I prefer this one in blends, but it's not one of my favorites on its own.
great chocolatey scent, great chocolately taste. i prefer it unsweetened as it gives it more of a dark chocolate feel, but for those with a sweet tooth, sugar and milk would probably lighten it up!
The name is chocolate, it smells like chocolate, it taste like chocolate. Do I need to say more? I love all of Adagio's chocolate teas. They are all wonderful to mix and match blend or to sip straight without blending. They are all wonderful with cream and sugar, they are all wonderful without cream and sugar. If you like chocolate and you like tea this is a good choice. This is especially delightful steeped with equal parts honeybush chocolate and chocolate truffle. No bitterness detected if steeped at 195-200 for 3 min. Flavor is still present.
Was good black, would probably be even better with cream and sugar. But it was a nice zero calorie chocolate fix.
4/13/21: My CommuniTEA sample of Chocolate tea didn't give me the chocolate taste I was expecting. Despite steeping at 190°F x 2 minutes, I still had some bitterness from the black tea. I added two cubes of sugar to try to tone down the bitterness and enhance the chocolate, which helped a little. The chocolate became more pronounced as the tea cooled. For my second steep, I added some vanilla oolong. Perfect! I don't care for cream in my tea, but I'm wondering if that would improve the flavor. I also think that this tea would be a good blender tea.
Update 1/27/22: Sampled again in the CommuniTEA. No bitterness noted this time, but still a mild chocolate flavor. I drank it unsweetened, and enjoyed it better than my previous sample.
Light, luscious latte
with soft chocolate flavor
Chocolatte, please!

This tea’s warm fragrance

(Haiku Review)
As per usual, I don't usually taste the chocolate in these blends with cocoa nibs but I sure do like the smell.
This is a very satisfying, bold tea. I added creamer and sweetener which smoothed out the flavors nicely. It became a lovely after lunch dessert. I was not expecting to like it so much.
Delicious tea with a nice strong chocolate flavor!
Wonderful chocolate aroma, both in the packet and while steeping. The tea turned out super bitter. It was so bitter that it left my tongue dry after every sip. I added some sweetener, but that did not hide any of the bitterness.
I'll try steeping for just 2 minutes, but this is so bitter I'm not sure that will help.
So sad. I wanted this to be my new favorite tea. It's not even close.
A rich aroma,
Decadent chocolate smell
Kind of bland in taste?
Updated 01/27/22: There was a hefty portion in today’s communiTEA but I decided to stay with my usual 12oz and 195F for 3min so the tea would steep a bit stronger. I took my previous advice to add sugar and this time I did add the lightest touch of a creamer as well. This did create a smoother sip, though the chocolate flavor is not pronounced. Again this was a perfectly fine cup. I am keeping the 3-star rating.
Original review: Steeped at 195F for 3min so as to not exacerbate any bitterness, though this still was a bitter sip when taken straight. Rock sugar brought chocolate the slightest bit forward. I’m not normally one to add a dairy component to tea, but this cup was begging for some kind of creamy element to counteract the strong Ceylon tannins that might have been amplified due to dark chocolate. A touch of creamer did smooth out the tea but diluted the already weak chocolate flavor. This ended up a perfectly okay CommuniTEA offering, not one I would purchase on its own, but one I understand would be very useful as a base for a blend.
This a fairly bitter black tea with a bittersweet chocolate touch. It is a blend that very much needs sugar to mellow it out - and I say this as someone who generally likes bitter flavors! I think the biggest issue with this tea for me is the gap between what I would expect from a 'chocolate blend' and what I got. It does taste like chocolate, but it's more of a baker's chocolate than anything else!
Decadent, divine, smooth, rich dark chocolate—all descriptors in the official write-up. I don’t know what is meant by decadent, divine, and rich dark chocolate. Nor do I understand how it satisfies some people’s chocolate cravings. I can barely taste the chocolate. Although, I can taste and appreciate it better than the first time I had it. Which is the point of trying things again—to hopefully gain a better appreciation and enjoyment of something. This tea is smooth, as advertised. It’s also a fairly good cup of tea, even if I can’t fully appreciate it yet.
This is a good black tea with a dark chocolate flavor. A nice dessert tea.
I did enjoy this blend. Great black tea base with good chocolate flavor
Jan 2022 Update: Brewing at a temp in the 190 range greatly reduces the bitterness. Plain, this tea has hints of dark chocolate, zero sweetness and some astringency making it a nice replacement for coffee as my first cup of the day.
Original CommuniTea: I should have read the reviews before steeping my first communiTea cup. A little too hot, maybe a touch long and rather bitter with a chocolate undertone. Second steep went a little cooler and added a touch of sugar and cream (which I haven't added to tea since I was 5) and discovered after dinner dessert or early morning latte replacement joy. Rich and decadent without being heavy.
