Ceylon tea and rich dark chocolate flavor. Decadent chocolate liquor texture, brightened by the tang of the Ceylon.

My partner loves the limited edition Irish Stout. This sample was 50% off so I got it to see if it would do as a substitute. First thoughts: Not as good as Chocolate Truffle.

Still loving this chocolate mixed with a little creme and Sweetner! The smell of chocolate and the taste! Love this tea. Anyone who loves chocolate needs this in their tea collection. This would be great in a blend. Hmmmmm...

This chocolate tea is absolutely wonderful! I will continue to purchase this one!

When I need a treat with zero calories, this is my go to.

It wasn't one of my favorites. A little too bitter, but if you're into sharp tastes, this is your tea.

★★★★☆

It doesn't really taste like chocolate. It's kind of like a standard black tea with a little bit of natural sweetness to it

★★☆☆☆

I found out I'm not a fan of Chocolate teas after trying this one. It's just a flavor that's best left for coffee or hot chocolate, in my humble opinion.

Oh my...this is like drinking dessert. I like to add half and half or heavy cream and a touch of sweetener to bring out the perfect flavor for my taste.

★★★★☆

Really good chocolate flavor without being overly fake sweet or fake chocolate tasting like some chocolate teas can be. I added a little chocolate milk to strengthen the flavor and it was really tasty!

I'm not a big fan of this chocolate tea. I think I've tasted a better chocolate tea here recently. I wouldn't want to drink this alone. It might be good in a blend.

I did like this one quite a bit but was better when I added a dunk of Masala Chai to the cup. I would prefer this as a base rather than a stand alone sip.

This is a delicious tea, with a great smell and a rich chocolate flavor, especially when it’s lukewarm! I steeped at 190 degrees for 3 minutes and added raw honey.

I really enjoyed this tea today - it had a wonderful chocolate taste. I had 3.2g so I steeped at 190 for 3 minutes. I didn't detect any bitterness so I was pleased. CT 6/7/23.

This is a good tea. The problem I have is based on the name I want it to taste like hot chocolate and it doesn't. It tastes like black tea with a bit of chocolate flavor, which is what it is. I almost wish it was called 'mocha' or something so that my expectation didn't effect what is a nice tea.

There’s been a lot of chatter lately about chocolate flavor being weak or not working well in tea blends, so I went into this one with low expectations. But I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did it have a good flavor, but it satisfied my chocolate craving. I had pulled out a couple of mini chocolate bars for my CommuniTEA photo and intended to eat them. But after drinking the tea, I just put them back in the pantry. That’s not something I *ever* do. So if anyone else is cutting back sugar and sweets, or needs a lower-calorie option for those pesky chocolate cravings, this may be the answer. As a disclaimer, I regularly consume and enjoy extra dark chocolate, raw cacao, and chocolate-flavored protein shakes... so I may not be the best judge of what’s a good chocolate flavor. 😆

A good tea on its own that definitely has a nice, mild sweet note of chocolate to it. Steeped for 4 minutes at 190°F, added the usual dark agave for sweetener, and it was perfect. Works great as a latte, too. Although it's not particularly standout on its own, unless all you're craving is some 'simple' chocolate, this is a tea that is great in blends. On its own, it's an 'ol' reliable' type - you always get exactly what it promises, nothing more and nothing less.

This is a delicious tea, and gives me that wonderful chocolate flavor without the sugar. I heated the water to 195, and although I set my timer for 3 minutes, it was more like 6 minutes before I got to it. It’s just a wonderful treat in a cup with none of the sugar or calories. It’s a full 5-star rating from me!

Certainly a chocolate tea. I would like to have more coco nibs in it to make it more 'chocolat'. I mixed my sample with other teas and it was great.

First smell: smells just like the chocolate chip we had earlier, perhaps even more like chocolate.

I didn't like chocolate chip by itself, and I'm thinking the same will hold true of chocolate. So, I'm gonna brew it, take a sip or three to review it, then save it for some breakfast in paris and orange.

While I’m sure I won't like it by itself, I might still blend with it, though with chocolate chip being available, im not sure which I'll blend with more often. One day, I'll do a side by side comparison to be sure.

Yeah, I just don't like chocolate teas by themselves. But it mixes well with my home blend of store bought teas - orange, raspberry, peach, with a splash of chocolate. Yum. If i were to rate this based solely on its own, it would be a 2. but because of its blendability, i give it a 4.

Pleasantly surprising! I wasn’t to sure about chocolate tea. There is a definite distinctive chocolate taste. It’s neither under or over whelming.

This is not the best chocolate tea I have ever tasted, but hey, I'm not going to knock chocolate! This does not become a rich dark chocolate unless you add sweetener to it, which I don't like to do. (I'm sweet enough, thank you!) As is, this tea tastes more like unsweetened cocoa powder. But boy is it a great blending tea! It gives depth to so many other flavor profiles. This is not as satisfying as actually eating a bar of 85% cacao,
but it's decent.

This is a delicious chocolate tea, although my absolute favourite will always be Decaf Chocolate Truffle. This one is still plenty smooth, though, and makes a great complement to other flavours in blending. Steeped 3 min @ 195º.

In the bag: Mostly tea leaves. A few cocoa nibs.

On the nose (pre-steep): Milk chocolate is loud and clear. Surprisingly, it doesn't smell very sweet nor does it have a cloying nose feel.

On the nose (post-steep): Milk chocolate made it past the steeping but is very faint. It shares the stage with unsweetened cocoa.

On the tongue (pre-sweetener): No milk chocolate here. Instead, we have a distinct bitterness and the classic unsweetened chocolate of ceylon.

On the tongue (post-sweetener): Sweeter helps to tame (though not eliminate) the bitter flavors. The milk chocolate has not returned, however.

Opinion: A decent tea, but one that dramatically misses its potential. The chocolate additives were present on the nose but not the tongue. Also, the ceylon brought in a bitterness that ruined the fun.

Preparation: First steep 3 min, second steep 6 min. Both @ 195 ℉. ½ teaspoon monk fruit sweetener.

I’m a big fan of this blend. The subtle chocolate works so well with the black tea. I added some creamer in and it was - for lack of a better term- healthy decadence? Very lovely!

UPDATE from 1/27/22: There is the smell of chocolate rising up from the CommuniTEA packet. It steeps (at a lower temp to avoid bitterness) into a clear amber color. The taste is still bitter, however, ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 12 oz) and heavy whipping cream smooths everything out. Now there is a delicious dark chocolate flavor, much like a dark hot chocolate - only without the calories. This tea is good for blending, but I like some of Adagio’s other chocolate teas more. ( 3 mins @ 200F + sweetener and cream).

Nice chocolate tea that suffers in comparison to Adagio's better blends. The chocolate taste here is not as rich as in some of Adagio's other blends that I prefer, like Chocolate Chip, Valentines, and Tiger Eye. Will probably get those again but am unsure about this one.

This is my new favorite tea to either drink on it's own or mix with other teas. I mix it with peppermint as well as Yunnan gold teas. A perfect blend.

It's chocolate, but tea! With milk, it's very reminiscent of a cup of hot chocolate, with the smoothness of tea in the background. (But much better tasting than just mixing actual hot chocolate and tea).
I recommend mixing it 4:1 with any vanilla tea to really bring out the aromatics of the chocolate flavor. Best when sweetened, for the full hot chocolate experience.
