I was really excited when Adagio gave me a sample of this as a free gift, since it's the staple of one of my favorite blends (Hannibal Chau--check my blends to take a look at it. It's yummy! But I digress...). The smell made me a little uncertain, because it smelled a bit like powdered hot cocoa--overly sweet and artificial. But brewed up, it isn't like this at all. It's a nice, hearty assam with a hint of dark chocolate. Just enough to remind you that it's there, never overwhelming or cloying or disgustingly sweet. Adagio gave me this, they said, because I had recently purchased rooibos cocomint (a chocolatey tea I really love). I am going to mix the two and see what happens now. Thanks for the free gift, Adagio! It was a great one!

I'd suggest brewing this just a bit longer than the suggested three minutes. Maybe 3.5 or even 4.

This has a nice chocolate flavor. Not too overpowering, though. Some chocolate teas are too sweet, but this one is just right!

I found this tea to be quite flavorful. I used 2 tsp of tea with 20 oz of boiling water and steeped for 4 minutes. The aroma and taste of the tea are robust but not overwhelming. The tea is flavorful on its own. A teaspoon of sugar added to a cup really brings our the chocolate flavor. Adding both milk and sugar to this tea should create a real treat!

A decent tea, however the smell definitely has an edge over the taste. It was a little too sharp and bitter for a chocolate tea.

This tea has more of a chocolate smell than a taste. With sugar the chocolate comes out a bit. Ends up kind of tasting like watery hot chocolate. I brewed this again with a little less water and it did come of tasting more like chocolate. With sugar it was even better.

I love this tea it mixes well with most other things.

I received this as a sample gift from Adagio. The scent is lovely, but the taste is a little too astringent for me.

Not a huge fan. It's not unpleasant, but it tastes like a tootsie roll's grandmother.

This is one of my favorites. Excellent aroma and flavor. I recommend it highly.

SO NICE!!! An absolutely splendid tea. It's nice in the middle of the day when you just need something! Yummy and nice.

If you're expecting a cup of hot chocolate, you'll be disappointed, but it's a very nicely flavored chocolate tea. With the Chocolate Chip tea I've had problems with bitterness, but none so far with the Chocolate tea. The mini chocolate chips sure are cute but for some reason the regular Chocolate tea is way less harsh, I think I might switch.

I really like this tea. I get it as a sample, which is a good size for me, since I tend to only drink this now and then. Definitely glad I have some more for the cold weather!

I really liked this tea, more so than some of the other blends. It was good by itself with a little sugar, but was excellent with some cream.

I was so looking forward to trying this tea, but in the end I was disappointed. The taste of chocolate is distorted in tea form it would seem and it comes across very...unchocolate-y. I am going to be sure to avoid teas containing chocolate in the future.

I really enjoyed drinking this tea. It was a little bitter without the sugar, but unsweetened chocolate is bitter, so it wasn't unexpected. I also may have steeped it a little longer than necessary. But I love this blend and it tastes and smells like roasted chocolate, if such a thing exists. Either way, it's heavenly and I love it! :3 Thanks Adagio!

I like the chocolate, but what I like best is mixing it with Honeybush Vanilla. Together they make a wonderful blend.

This is tea is really only good with a hint of cream or sugar. It makes an excellent mixing tea, however, and tastes great with berry flavors and chais.

I got this one and chocolate chip for my sister and she loved it!

I was expecting more of a chocolate taste, but it wasn't too bad. I might give this another try.

This tea was chocolatey and delicious. I personally prefer Valentines tea and suggest you check it out if you like fruit and chocolate. But for blends this brings a wonderful chocolate note.

So in all fairness I haven't drunk the chocolate tea by itself because ehh, I dunno that didn't sound too appealing. However, I did mix the chocolate black with the raspberry black (as I was trying to recreate another tea I had tasted), and let me just tell you chocolate/raspberry gives you an incredibly delicious tea! Add a bit of milk and sugar and you are riding the full on dessert tea wave. The chocolate and raspberry flavors are both amazing - no weird or off flavors. Definitely worth a try.

good dessert tea, especially when left unsweetened

I really like this tea but I almost didn't because it isn't what you expect. I think cocoa has trained us to expect creamy from a chocolate drink and this isn't creamy. This smells more like chocolate than it tastes like chocolate. The chocolate you do taste is subtle.

I'm loving this flavor...also it doesn't need much sugar.

I prefer to blend this tea rather than have it by itself. It's really good with any kind of berry tea, or peppermint!

very good, mixes well with vanilla chai. Nice and sweet.

I don't think it stands well on it's own--I'd prefer a stronger, sweeter chocolate taste. But it does work well in blends if you are looking to tame a feisty or ultra-sweet tea.

Very sweet, but a bit unusual for a tea flavor, and a bit of a shock at first sniff/taste. I've now gotten used to it, and really enjoy the flavor when mixed with other teas like cream, but it's not for everyone--wasn't for me at first.

Refreshing, particularly when iced and not overly sweetened

I was sent a sample of this, and I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. It's nice to have when a chocolate craving hits.

This is great for late night chocolate cravings.

While I think I prefer the chocolate chip tea a bit more, this tea is still quite good!

It is something I would get again, especially to mix with other flavors. It was not as strong as i thought it would be. Next time I make it, I'm going to make it a little stronger than the directions on the package.

This tea is amazing! I added just a little sugar and milk and it's the perfect semi-sweet alternative to hot chocolate.

My mom is a total sucker for chocolate, and when she sniffed a bag of this, she almost ran off with it! I gotta say, she and I like this a liiiittle more than the chocolate chip, and it tastes great when it's mixed with a little almond tea.

Okay by itself, but I definitely prefer this tea when you blend it with other teas (the honeybush orange and the candy cane come to mind).

This is a perfect substitute for hot chocolate during the cold winter months. Some chocolate teas I have tasted resemble watered-down hot chocolate, but this one has a rich flavor. Perfectly chocolatey and wonderful for making blends.

Not my cup of tea. It tasted bitter but it smelled great - perhaps I should have added sweetner? Still, that would have defeated the purpose of finding a beverage with no sugar.

The smell is so lovely in the bag, and it's a nice treat when you're feeling too sick to actually eat a piece of chocolate.

Makes for a splendid tea to drink with desert. I like to add some milk and sugar too.

This chocolate is good stuff. Not overpowering, just a nice subtle flavor.

Lightly chocolate flavored tea. Lovely when mixed with other flavors.

I enjoyed this tea. It wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of chocolate flavor. It's definately a nice after dinner drink.

noticeable chocolate taste, aromatic, but not a milk chocolate more of a bakers chocolate. Still is quite good, its a sort of more exquisite hot coco. If you love chocolate this is just for you

Tasted enough like chocolate to make my chocolate want happy, but not so much that I would regret not just buying a candy bar. :)
