Didn't like this at all. Didn't smell or taste like chocolate. Had an off taste too

★★★★★

So smooth! An excellent substitute for traditional hot chocolate.

Chocolate usually isn't my favorite flavor but this was actually really nice. Great if you love black teas.

It's good by itself but I will almost always mix it with the butterscotch tea. MUAHAHAHAHA FOR DELICIOUS SCIENCE

It was much more chocolate than chai. The spices were almost entirely lost in the mix.

Very tasty and chocolatey, but not super sweet. Love it a lot.

Every chocolate-lovers dream!! The chocolate was not overpowering, yet strong enough to give us a little dessert kick at the end. Blissful!

This is one of those teas you have a nice whiff of and your eyes roll back in your head because it smells incredible. Just like dark chocolate. Aw yeah, that's the good stuff. That said, it is a black tea and sometimes they're finicky. Overbrew and it will go melodramatic with the bitterness. Brew it just right though and it's an incredible chocolate tea. Add some milk and bam. Dessert in a cup.

A delicious and simple tea that was practically made for a decadent latte. Perhaps it's because I started off as a coffee drinker before I learned to really appreciate tea, but making a concentrated brew out of this and adding it to hot milk, sweetening it with a flavored creamer and topping the whole mess with whipped cream was an amazing treat.

I enjoyed today's dark chocolate tea. It smelled of chocolate when I opened my CommuniTEA packet, and the resulting brew also smelled strongly of chocolate. The flavor of the chocolate blended well with the black tea, IMO, when sipped hot (I brewed for 3 min at 212F), but the whole thing reminded me too much of dessert, so I added sugar, which made it absolutely delicious. Not as many calories as hot chocolate, and almost as satisfying - what a tasty cup!

Very nice tea, however I liked Adagio's Chocolate Truffle better as far as chocolate flavored teas go :)

One whiff and I was in chocolate heaven! The ingredients were all there this time and I brewed it as closely to directions as I could. The second steep was a little more mellow chocolate- wise, but a bit of astringency crept in. The only possible improvement would be some mint or Candy Cane to make it like a Peppermint Patty… a very pleasant drink.

Oh CommuniTea! How did you know that I needed chocolate today? This tea was delish. The flavor is more of a dark chocolate, no sweetness which was perfect. A slight bitterness as it cooled but a dash of milk fixed that and made the tea a creamy, chocolatey delight.

You can smell the chocolate and you taste the chocolate too, great job!🫖☕️

Tried this tea as a CommuniTEA sample. However, it may not be representative of the tea, since my packet didn't include any cacao nibs and only one chip (that was blonde, like a butterscotch chip). I steeped 1.7g of tea in 7 oz of 190°F water x 3 minutes. The tea didn't have any bitterness but was weak on the chocolate flavor even after adding a little sweetener.

Tried this as part of the CommuniTEA. As a major chocoholic I loved this tea. Added a few pieces of rock sugar.

It is delicious. Although , it can be a bit of a shock if you aren’t ready for the smoky flavor under the dark chocolate and Ceylon tea. But once you know it’s there, this can be enjoyed hot or iced.

Nice chocolate aroma from the communiTea packet. No chocolate chips in my packet so I add 2 of my own chips to the brew. Slight bitter chocolate flavors and mild astringency found in my cup. Added honey to help tone down the bitterness. Smooth mouth feel. Aroma of chocolate is better than the taste. I am not a huge chocolate fan though. Versatile tea that I think would be great in a blend. On my 2nd steep I added caramel tea which made a very nice cup of blended tea. 190º for 4 mins. Enjoy!

This is not my favorite Adagio chocolate tea. I like Honeybush Chocolate and the Chocolate Chai Pu-erh is wonderful!. This tea was ok...I mean if I was offered a cup I wouldn't turn it down. 😃 I like it with cream and sugar.

It’s rare for me not to like a chocolate tea and that holds true here. I did not get any chips in my packet today, but I did have a nice big cocoa nib. Since I’ve had both adagio’s chocolate and chocolate chip in larger samples, the biggest difference for this variety is a slight verge closer to milk chocolate than dark. The oils in the chocolate chips also slightly changed the mouth feel of the tea. This tea is great as an early afternoon dessert, or as part of a scone filled brunch!

This tea is so deliciously chocolatey. I felt like I was drinking a chocolate chip cookie. I steeped it at 212F for 3 minutes and drank it with a little sugar and some oat milk. I tried it both hot and cold and it tasted great both ways!

I don't taste much chocolate with this brew. I would rather black or chocolate, just not together.

I love dark chocolate but I didn't like the chocolate flavor of this tea. I think it's the cocoa nibs that gave it a funny taste. My favorite tea is the rooibos pecan turtle which has chocolate chips in it. If it was made in a similar way with black tea and chocolate chips I think I would have really like it.

★★★★☆

I drank my CommuniTEA packet iced with a bit of stevia monk fruit blend which made it even sweeter. This one will definitely turn bitter if over steeped. I would enjoy this as an iced latte too. Happy sipping!

Black tea, caffeine, and chocolate...what more could you want!? A delicious blend to satisfy all your sweet cravings.

The packet opens to reveal the rich scent of cocoa and chocolate chips!
A quick 3 minute steep at 212°F produced a dark chocolate brown tea.

Dark chocolate flavors create a perfect roasted cacao background for this tea. Woody and roast nutty flavors coming from the cacao nibs add a fresh raw chocolate tinge to the decadent dark chocolate chips.
A brisk black Ceylon tea adds some balanced crispness with a slightly astringent finish. In the finish, the slight bitterness from the dark chocolate adds a complimentary flavor to the black tea.

Adding some cream to this cup transforms it into a decadently smooth chocolate tea with plenty of well balanced dark cocoa flavor. If you're a dark chocolate lover, this one will definitely be a favorite!

This tea was rich and chocolatey, with no Ceylon bitterness. My packet had one chocolate chip and two cocoa nibs, so while it was not overflowing with extra chocolatey goodness, the chocolate flavor definitely shined. A touch of cream and sugar made for a delicious afternoon treat, but I think I would prefer to use this as a chocolate touch in blends rather than drinking it straight.

This was okay, but not something I would seek out. The chocolate overpowers the flavor of the tea. There are a lot of different chocolate flavors going on and one that I didn't care for.

Typically, I don’t find it necessary to note that a review is based on a CommuniTEA pouch when the offering is an Adagio blend, but as I’m not sure my sample gave an accurate representation of the tea, I’m making an exception. I don’t recall seeing any cocoa nibs, and I found only one chocolate chip. I have learned that adding sweetener brings out the flavor in tea, and this is especially true of chocolate teas. Once I had added a few pieces of rock sugar, the tea certainly had a nice chocolate flavor, but I can’t say that I could detect much difference between this version and Adagio’s chocolate tea. I was also a little taken aback by an odd aftertaste that made the chocolate flavor seem artificial. It might have been some astringency from the black tea, but it seemed...tangier than that. Interestingly, that aftertaste faded in a second steep. I did enjoy it, particularly with a splash of milk, but it was not what I expected. (4-5 minutes @ 200°F).

Dry tea smells like chocolate. A cocoa nib is spied among the black tea, but no chocolate chips in sight. When brewed, the resulting cup is a dark brown with the same chocolate scent. When hot, the Ceylon is joined with some dark chocolate notes. As the tea cools, more of the chocolate flavor is present, but there is a sweetness missing due to the lost chocolate chips. There is a slight amount of bitterness, much like a high cocoa percentage dark chocolate, which is brightened in the finish with the Ceylon. The flavor combination is nice, although I feel it would be a tastier cup with a bit of sweetener. Brewed at 200 for 3 minutes.

I have to start with the fact that I’m not big on chocolate tea or Ceylon. That being said this was an ok cup. My packet didn’t have any chips in it so I added one of my own. It was more towards like than dislike. I like the fact that the chocolate flavor is a dark chocolate and not a sweet milk chocolate. I think this one is better mixed with other teas, like Cupid’s Cup. I’m not sure I’d ever purchase this to drink on its own. I get a touch of bitterness as it cools, not sure if that’s the cocoa nibs or the Ceylon. To try an avoid the bitterness from the Ceylon I brewed at 185° for 2 minutes.

This is my first time drinking a chocolate tea. I am neutral about it. I will drink it but I wouldn't buy it, but that is just a personal preference in regards to chocolate in tea. I put a teaspoon of brown sugar in mine and no cream or milk. I don't taste a lot of chocolate though. Rating a 6/10

I really enjoyed the chocolate flavors. When I first opened the packet, I could smell chocolate. I just knew it would be a good morning with starting out with chocolate! I steeped at 190 for 2 minutes and added creamer and honey. I even did a second steep. So soothing and full flavored. Love it!

Chocolate tea usually isn't my jam. However because the chocolate is on the darker side, the bitter chocolate and tea are more complimentary. I added a splash of cream for a decadent treat.

I didn't get any bitterness from the Ceylon. The chocolate flavor is nice. I would prefer more chocolate flavor but this tea is on par with other chocolate black teas I've had in the past from other vendors.

One of the better chocolate flavored teas I have tried! I added honey and a splash of milk to help bring out the chocolate flavors above the Ceylon tea. It wasn’t bad plain either, but definitely more dark chocolate, while the milk created milk chocolate.

This had the aroma of chocolate more than it tasted of chocolate. I mostly tasted the ceylon tea, which was a little bitter even after brewing at a lower temp. I added some of my own cocoa nibs and and mini chocolate chips as there weren't any in my packet, and the chocolate flavor was still barely there. I've had this in blends, and feel like the chocolate flavor comes out more when mixed with something else. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 4 min @ 200F)

Maybe with enough sugar and milk this could taste like it's got chocolate in it. But it tastes like one of those 90% cocoa bars that you can only really eat when its smothered in peanut butter

I'm a chocolate lover, and I love this tea. It really needs a little sweetener to bring out the chocolate flavor and offset a little bitterness.

A nice tea with a strong chocolate taste. I enjoyed it but felt like it needed a sweetener. Cream overpowered the chocolate in my opinion but adding some sugar made it just right.

CommuniTEA Sample: I typically enjoy chocolate in my teas, especially with a splash of cream, and this was no different. It is a very nice chocolate tea that held up well with a bit of milk. It is not too sweet and it really lets the cocoa itself stand up. I have had a few samples of this tea and have enjoyed it each time. Looking forward to having it again down the road.

Oh, the anticipation! I’m a chocolate girl, so I was pretty thrilled. The smell of the packet was divine! Even my husband leaned in for a whiff and swooned! I was disappointed that there were no chocolate chips in my chocolate chip tea, but I thought, that’s ok, I bet this will still be AMAZING! But the taste in the cup didn’t live up to that initial thrill. This tastes kinda chocolatey, but not enough for me! It’s there lingering but I really wanted to be hit with it. This is my complaint with many flavored teas: that I understand what you wanted to communicate but it just doesn’t fully get there. I added some oat milk for some creaminess as I do with most flavored blacks and that was nice. Overall, I just wanted more. Happy Sipping!

212 degrees for 3 minutes. Whoa, this one is strong, folks. Very rich and potent chocolate flavor, like bittersweet chocolate with a velvety mouthfeel. Drinking it plain is like dark chocolate liquor, but adding a smidgen of cream mellows out the flavors. Good stuff, but I still think I like the chocolate truffle the best.

7 Jul 2020 review: The aromas and sight of actual chips in the bag made me think about making chocolate chip cookies right then and there! A stately dark red/brown color was seen. All of the aromas and tastes of chocolate carried-on in the cup from start to finish. Bitterness of un-sweetened dark cocoa nibs were noted and smoothed some by adding 1/4 tsp of sugar. The black tea was overpowered by all this chocolate. A bit of black tea astringency aftertastes along with slight bitterness from the cocoa were noted at the end. If you like dark chocolate, you’ll love this one! Similar results were noted from a second steep. I’ll abstain from voting today because I neither loved or hated it. (3 mins @ 212F)
