Tastes better than it smells. I wanted a replacement for dairy hot chocolate and this is OK for that, not perfect; the black tea is a better compliment to the chocolate than the honeybush herbal, but of course that means it has caffeine. 5 stars for shipping, order process, packaging -- they sent me a bunch of other samples along with my order of three tasters.

I love chocolate. I love chocolate chip cookies. However, this tea was NOT what I had hoped it to be. It tasted like cheap, stale store-bought cookies. I won't be ordering this one again.

Can't live without it! Please make a decaf version. Nice and smooth, just a little sweet. No unpleasant aftertaste.

Black tea and chocolate go well together, and i think it's exemplary in an otherwise simple blend like this. The chocolate chips add a fantastic sweetness, whereas the black tea keeps it balanced with a nice little pleasantly bitter bite. I like to oversteep this one just a little to be able to enjoy the sweetness, then juuust right bitterness after tastes.

I’d give this tea 5 stars if it didn’t take some heavy cream to draw out the chocolate flavor. Once I added the cream, mmm, it has put me in the mood to make chocolate chip cookies! I also want to try this with a smidge of cinnamon.

I LOVE this tea - the aroma is so rich and delightful, and the tea has the chocolate finish that really hits the spot. Doesn't need sugar!

I have to admit, I love most chocolate teas, and this one is no exception. The chocolate chips feel so indulgent. With a touch of sugar it's a great dessert tea.

Not bad. Not a ton of flavor but not bad at all when I want something milder.

This is a good tea, rich and deep. I like it better than the regular chocolate tea, but not as well as the chocolate truffle tea, it's just right in the middle for me. Kudos to Adagio getting us such a variety of dessert-tasting teas.

I brewed this warm, not hot or cold, overnight in the fridge, just using warm filtered tap water. The chocolate did appear to melt somewhat into the drink, which was the hope. It was rather nice.

this deep-colored tea contains pieces of cocoa, so don't be surprised to see some 'fatty circles' on the top.
Tea has a nice finish desert-y finish and it makes it perfect for my afternoon enjoyment.

What a treat to drink while eating a warm brownie! I like the Chocolate Truffle better, but this is very nice!

When there are real chocolate chips in the tea, everything is magical!
While I only purchased the sample size, I now realize that I should have ordered a larger size! Am I the only one who needs comfort teas during the winter? I think not! This tastes so amazing, and less calories than a chocolate chip cookie! It's a win win for me!

Really good tea
Very nice chocolate flavor
It's not too strong

I like this better than the plain chocolate as it has a stronger chocolate flavor. Nice for when I want that chocolate taste without the heaviness of a milk hot chocolate

★★★★★

This was suprisingly bitter upon first sip, but in a good way. Admittedly I don't think I used a enough water when brewing my cup, and I only used one sugar packet and no Milk, but the bitterness didn't overpower the chocolate, which gave it a weirdly nice aftertaste.
I'll try w milk next time, and the right amount of water, but I liked it.

communiTEA 10/28/22: Somehow I hadn’t actually reviewed this until now!
I will always advocate for a lower water temperature with black teas (190-205F), especially Ceylon-based teas. Personally I cannot enjoy this tea steeped with boiling water.
I will also generally suggest a sweetener for a flavored Ceylon tea. Not only does it help define the intended flavor, it makes the combination more palatable. For me this is particularly true of chocolate teas. Even though I knew in advance that I would be adding a good amount of rock sugar, I still tasted the chocolate chip tea straight first. It reminded me of an extremely high percentage dark bittersweet cacao baking chocolate, which was quite bracing.
With a lowered temperature and sweetener, this turns into a lovely afternoon or dessert tea that is reminiscent of chocolate chip but for a standalone tea I prefer chocolate truffle. Chocolate chip is more valuable as a blending option. I am unlikely to reach for it as much as I am chocolate truffle, which is the reason for four stars rather than five.

I liked this, but it was very easy to oversteep, which I definitely did. A little half and half helped but after chocolate truffle, I can’t say I tasted much difference. If you are not a huge chocolate fan, this would probably be more palatable that the truffle version.

CommuniTEA Review:
it wasn't for me. It just tasted like black tea to me with added bitter from the dark chocolate. I really like the smell when I opened the packet it and brewed the tea. It smelled just like chocolate.

This is a deliciously decadent chocolate tea that does not disappoint. A little rock sugar and heavy whipping cream and wowza I'm in Heaven!

This was fantastic. It had a wonderful aroma in the packet. It brewed up and the aroma continue through out the entire cup. Highly recommend this I’d you enjoy dark chocolate.

The ceylon was quite bitter when brewed at 200, imparting a bitterness to the chocolate flavor. I added sweetener which tempered the bitterness somewhat and created a semisweet chocolate flavor that can definitely remind you of chocolate chips. A second steep at lower temp was much better, although some of the chocolate flavor was lost the second time around. i would definitely have this again, keeping in mind the need for a lower temperature steep. This was a nice, chocolatey tasting tea. I don’t add sweeteners of any kind but if I had, it would have brought out the chocolate flavor more, and it would have toned down the bit of bitterness of the dark chocolate. If I have the chance to try it again, I will definitely add a touch of rock sugar or honey.

CommuniTEA 10/28/22: I can't believe that I enjoyed this tea as much as I did. It was good and not too oily and some chocolates can make the tea feel in my mouth. Overall, something I would drink again, but not keep as a staple in my tea hoard.

This is a good dark-chocolate tea, with a deep, rich flavor. If you reach for 70% or darker chocolate, this is the tea for you!

I like chocolate but I also like drinking my tea without adding anything to it. This tea was too bitter. I guess the best way to put this is it tasted like cocoa powder.

This tea is a wonderful homage to the Ceylon black and dark chocolate flavors. I enjoyed every sip. I stopped myself from adding milk so I could savor the full dark chocolate flavor. This is definitely going on the wish list.

I’m not generally a fan of sugary/candy flavored teas but this one was okay. A little bitterness even though I only lightly steeped it, even with sugar and milk. A somewhat cloying aftertaste.

Brewed exactly as directed and it was delicious! I think this tea has a much better chocolate flavor than others; there isn't that strong artificial chocolate flavor that I've had in some of the other chocolate teas. I added the slightest bit of vanilla syrup and a splash of oat milk and it was a perfect morning cup!

One word - YUM! The flavors of the Ceylon tea and the dark chocolate chips blend together nicely to make a fantastic cup! I will be adding a few more chips when I brew my second cup, since they melt and are gone. I will be buying more of this tea!

I love a hot chocolate, and this was a lovely marriage between tea and hot chocolate, feels like a grown up nuanced hot chocolate with dark choc and a tea element
Added frothed milk on top and a tsp of sugar, perfect for this weather

I will admit that I pulled out the chocolate chips in my sample...I just couldn't do it. Without that, there is still a slight chocolate flavor, slight bitterness and a hint of cream flavor.
This is not to my taste, but I knew that going into it. (195F for 3min)

This is a bit lighter than Chocolate but is still very good. I will probably reorder the chocolate as I prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate.

How can you not love Chocolate Chip tea?? When I tried this again I found the chocolate to be more intense than before so I've upped the stars from four to five. I love chocolate...the darker the better.

UPDATED from 7/7/21: This smells wonderfully of chocolate when the CommuniTEA packet opens and it steeps it at no more than 200ºF to create a deep rusty orange tea. Since I only eat dark chocolate, this tea is a WINNER with me. Either hot or cold- add a little heavy whipping cream and ¼ teaspoon of sweetener (to 12 oz) - and voila- an absolutely delicious cup or glass of chocolate heaven. The best part - not the calories of eating chocolate or drinking hot chocolate!!! If you are a milk chocolate lover- you will probably find this tea “bitter” as dark chocolate is the grown up version! Only downfall is the high caffeine. (3 mins @ 200ºF + sweetener and cream).
