This was a sweet pick me up with strong caramel flavor! With a bit of sugar and cream, this was better than a candy bar!
Bright Ceylon black tea accented with caramel. Rich dark aroma, molasses notes. Decadent cup and brown sugar finish.

This was a sweet pick me up with strong caramel flavor! With a bit of sugar and cream, this was better than a candy bar!
One of my favorites of the flavored Ceylon teas. Has a lovely flavor without the caramel being overpowering or too fake seeming.
Sadly, I couldn’t get past the bitterness, despite brewing at a lower temp and adding vanilla cream!
Today's CommuniTea packet is caramel, made with black tea and caramel flavor. To me it didn't smell or taste quite like caramel, but a number of people said that they added milk and sugar and loved it. I added neither and found it bland. Next I mixed the balance of the cup into some ginger peach tea (black tea, ginger, marigolds and ginger, apricot and peach flavors), at about a 1:2 ratio, and thought it was better, but still in need of some oomph. I like it better mixed with a chai or fiery cinnamon. It's not a bad tea, but on its own it's not very exciting either. Brewed in 12 ounces of 200 degree water for three minutes, and then added to 7.2 g of ginger peach tea brewed in 24 ounces of 200 degree water for three minutes.
Yum caramel is so so good it’s great mixed with other teas too!
Once again I am reminded that I need to add some creamer to my tea bag. It does taste of caramel, but had a bitterness that I’d like to smooth out.
On its own, I could see this tea tasting more of burnt sugar than good caramel. However, I used homemade caramel as a sweetener and it was amazing! Overall, If you don’t have caramel on hand, this would be better as a blending tea vs a single tea, but done right, it’s a divine cup!
This was in-between 'loved it' and 'meh.' The smell of caramel was perfect, but this isn't a perfect tea. First, watch the brewing. It got a little bitter on me (and that was my fault). I prefer other black teas over ceylon, but I have nothing bad to say about ceylon just don't overbrew it. UPDATE: I made this tea thinking I never did review it. I was in the mood for iced tea. Unfortunately, my iced tea was overbrewed. I resteeped the leaves for a hot version. My hot drink was better. My 2021 self said don't overbrew it. My 2022 self agrees.
This tea was ok and actually moved to ok + as I sipped more. I found this tea to be a little bitter and the caramel flavoring didn't blend well for my taste. 2nd time, the tea was not bitter but very very sweet
This is a very good, single-flavor tea. It is delicious hot with a bit of Truvia. It also makes a nice latte. Steeped 3 minutes at 185 degrees.
I steeped it at 185 for 2 minutes. The flavor wasn't very strong on it's own but after adding some sugar it really comes through. The caramel flavor was enough to be able to tell what it is without being told. Caramel just isn't a flavor that I am in love with however I am really enjoying trying lots of new teas with the January CommuniTEA package so far! It is nice to have more variety than what I usually drink.
This is one of those teas I don’t hate, but I also don’t get Carmel when I taste it. That’s not to say that it’s not still a good black tea while hot. It’s just not for me.
This is one of my favorites because it reminds me eat eating ice cream with the candies melted.
Super bitter. I steeped at 212 degrees for 3 minutes, just as the packet instructed. The tea was terribly bitter. Adding caramel sweetener didn't help cover the bitterness.
For the second steep, I steeped for 2 minutes. The tea was much better.
The overall taste made me think that I would much rather have a cup of plain black tea with caramel coffee syrup added for the caramel flavor. If you enjoy caramel flavor, buy a bottle of Jordan's skinny salted caramel syrup and try adding that to any tea.
Flavored black teas are my jam and this one is right on point. I brewed at 188 for five minutes and got no bitterness at all. Once sweetened and creamed, this tea was wonderfully rich and tasty. If it weren’t for the fact that I just placed an order yesterday and already have WAY too much tea anyway, I would order this now!
This tea seems bitter, even when brewed at 195 F for 2 min 45 sec. I even added honey and heavy cream to no avail. It is better in a blend than as a stand alone tea.
It was alright. Not a huge caramel fan. Also didn't drink the whole cup because of the high caffeine level.
212 is definitely a bit too high for this tea, brewed pretty bitter. Very caramel flavored, but think I might be slightly allergic to whatever is in the flavoring since it left my throat/tongue with an unpleasant itchy feeling.
This tea has a very nice smooth caramel flavor. It's a good tea to mix with other flavors as well as just on its own!
I love the caramel smell. It's caramel corn without the sugar. I added a drop of honey to bring out the caramel flavor. Yum!!!
Update:
I liked this tea a bit more today, less bitter. Could still use a bit more caramel flavor.
11/3/21 (3 stars):
I had high hopes for this one but find the caramel flavor lacking, and the tea quite bitter. I added honey, but it didn’t do the trick. I’d lower the steep temperature on a repeat tasting to tone down the Ceylon tea.
This tea is a no for me dog... simply because the flavor isn’t that strong. I felt that the smell wasn’t that strong and the taste matches. I sweetened this with brown sugar.
The taste is nice, but it is not strong enough for me.
I was expecting a stronger caramel flavor. After reading previous reviews, I tried 180* for 3 minutes. This tea tastes like a hearty, black tea after brewing. With the addition of oat milk and honey and a bit of cooling, some caramel sweetness shines through. Perfect tea for someone who's a fan of black tea. If you're hoping for a sweet caramel flavor, this tea won't fulfill that craving.
My first cup I brewed it at 200F for 3min...still too high of a temperature because it was mostly bitter with only a possible hint of caramel. I tried a second cup at 180F for 5min and definitely more of a sweet flavor. Next time I will have to try brewing the lower temp or cold brew from the start.
This tea tasted mostly of black tea to me, I didn’t get a strong caramel flavor.
A wonderful cuppa perfect for a chilly winter day. Hard to resist a lovely buttery caramel flavored tea that begs you to relax and treat yourself. This yummy flavor stays true throughout the cup too. I added some brown sugar that doubled down on the delicious caramel flavor and a splash of diary for a more dessert-like sip. A resteep was just as flavorful.
My CT packet had an aromatic 4 g/ 2 full tsp. of plain dark brown tea leaves with natural caramel flavor. Brewed 14 oz. at 200*F for 3 min. The steeped golden brown liquor was tasty enough to sip plain but a sweetener add elevated the delicious caramel flavor more. No bitterness was detected and although black teas have some astringency, the caramel taste seemed to mask it nicely. What a truly tasty and relaxing sip especially when paired with a baked goodie. Enjoy!
Update: Brewed for2mins@180°, The caramel flavor came through really well. No bitterness, brown sugar and malty flavor. A delicious cup.
Brewed at a lower temperature to stave off the bitterness from the Ceylon tea. Enjoyed the rich caramel aroma, which translates to the flavor really well. It was really delicious, although I made the mistake of having it on an empty stomach. This tea would be excellent in many different types of blends or just as it is.
The flavor is present, but is not very strong, which would make it a great tea for someone who usually only drinks black teas and would like to try out something with a bit more flavor.
I feel incredibly indulgent when drinking this delicious, dessert-in-a-cup Caramel tea!
this is the first time I have tried this tea. I really like it. I will order it again. It has a really nice taste. @adagioteas
Nice flavor and good strong body, Makes for a good morning or early afternoon tear. It has that rich chocolaty flavor that makes for an appetizing tea,.
Yummy black caramel when you want a treat in the afternoon
Really delicious with a caramel hint. I'll probably buy again.
Has a strong caramel flavor. Great with milk and sugar, and even a little bit of salt. I add a little bit of this to other teas sometimes, like the rooibos turtle, just to give them an extra hit of caramel flavor.
Not too sweet and a great flavor that is subtle and balanced.
Good sweet flavor that isn’t overwhelmingly sweet. Nice way to start the day.
A great tea to wake up with on a groggy morning. Goes well with oatmeal.
Today's packet smelled just like caramel. A quick steep for 3 minutes at 212°F brewed up into a medium brown tea.
Brisk and bold tea tannins mingled well with the hints of caramel. A slight astringency is present to give this one a bit of dry sharpness in the finish.
There's still plenty of bold Ceylon tea in this blend to pack a punch, but the caramel keeps you wanting another sip.
CommuniTEA packet tasting, delicious black tea with sweet notes. Happy sipping!
Even at 195ish, there was still some bitterness, as others have noted. A bit of sweetened creamer helped, but I prefer this in blends to drinking it alone.
I definitely like this one better in blends than as a stand alone tea. The caramel aroma is intoxicating but once brewed the caramel flavor is light and somewhat an aftertaste. I added some rock sugar and a splash of oat milk. 195° for 1.45 minutes.
Sweet caramel aroma from the dry tea leaves. The flavor dissipates when steeped (190°F x 2 min), but then becomes more pronounced again as the tea cools. No bitterness noted. Good with and without sweetener.
Delicious!! Especially after lunch as a dessert and a mood/energy booster! Great taste of molasses without the stickiness!
Caramel tea is a nice treat! I added some whipped cream and caramel drizzle to mine!
I enjoyed this one. You can taste just a touch of sweetness without adding anything to it, but not enough to be overwhelming. I tried adding honey to the second cup, but I prefer it plain.
I really liked this tea, I just found it a bit bitter even when steeping at 175F. Good by itself, phenomenal with a little turbinado sugar! I didn't get a chance to do a second steeping because of a work function. Was a rich caramel flavor, very evocative of autumn. Would have liked it better if it hadn't been bitter. Was still good when it got cold, actually. 7/10.
My review from last year still stands. Though you should be mindful of the steep temp otherwise the astringency will get a bit strong.
11/2/20: This tea definitely benefits from sugar & milk. I do wish the caramel was a bit stronger, but I also know from experience that it can be difficult to get a strong caramel taste with flavorants without it tasting too artificial. I did manage multiple steeps out of this though, even if the second steep didn't really have the caramel flavor, it was still a nice black tea.
This is a great simple black tea. It smells heavenly of melt in your mouth caramel but doesn’t sweeten the tea to a candy sweet. Being a Ceylon Black tea requires minimal steeping to counteract its bitter tang. This tea allows several steeps before flavor is lost.
A lovely black tea with just a touch of caramel flavor. Not too sweet! It was good with milk or straight up.
It smelled really sugary in the pouch and I used water below boiling to reduce the astringency of the black tea, and after three minutes was up it produced a deep amber brew. I added my usual condensed milk and went on my way. My cup just tasted sugary, nothing really noting to the titular caramel flavor in the tea. It wasn't anything spectacular, I think this tea would be better if blended with other teas.
