I brewed at 180, but got distracted and didn’t time it… how is this so good?! No sweetener added, but still tasted sweet. No bitterness, even after over steeping. Great choice!

I love my teas dark, rich, smooth and full of flavor! This fits the bill with just a touch of caramel sweetness that is really enhanced with a bit of pure cane sugar and a splash of heavy cream! I delightful fall treat!!

Not much to say here, except that this is a nice black tea with subtle notes of caramel flavor as you sip. It's great on its own, but can be enjoyed with cream and sugar, or even paired with a dessert.

By itself, I find this blend to be a little too one-note. Caramel flavoring can be complex, but this flavoring is not. By itself, this tea would be 3 star/OK.

However, one cannot ignore the number of fandom blends that I have enjoyed with caramel as one of the main components. Caramel may be one-note, but when mixed with other blends, it is incredibly harmonious with additional notes like creme or some fruit flavorings. It's a good one to have on hand to make homemade blends on the fly.

CommuniTEA packet: I really enjoyed this cup of black tea. The caramel aroma seemed strong, which I enjoyed the smell, when I opened the packet but after brewing I could smell the black tea flavor a lot more. I added cream and raw sugar to make this a very sweet creamy treat.

I'm not a fan of caramel flavour, but this has a pretty nice flavour to it, not too strong. I did find it pretty astringent though, not sure if I steeped it too long. Adding some cream helped with it.

[edit]
Actually adding the cream, it tastes like liquid Werthers

This tea is one that grew on me as it sat/cooled. I couldn’t taste the caramel at first, but only what seemed to be a black tea. After some sitting and cooking, however, I could taste the caramel quite nicely.
I’m very happy that Adagio made the point of mentioning that this tea is vegan. I’m not vegan, but I am dairy-free, so it was a helpful note.

A decent tea, but with very little caramel flavor.

The caramel flavor was buttery and slightly sweet. I didn't find any bitterness as some have described. I brewed at 200 for 3 minutes. Salted caramel is one of my favorite flavors , so this tea was perfect for me. I added this to my wishlist.

Caramel tea for the win! The sweet smell of caramel and black tea filled the kitchen after opening todays packet. Mixed in some honey and a splash of vanilla egg nog for an excellent morning cup of tea. I’m going to double steep this one and I’ll be adding to my wishlist. 😋

It's not the tea, it's me...I'm just not much of a fan of Ceylon, and fake caramel flavors, so I'm giving it 3 stars (can't judge fairly due to personal preference). Even though I brewed at 195/3 min., it still tasted bitter to me. So I added stevia, and weirdly it tasted even MORE bitter (I think it's the stevia type? or does all stevia have a bitter aftertaste?). Next time I try a Ceylon I will just add sugar and see how it goes.

I love this. Strong black tea and delicious caramel smell.

Not the tea for me, I prefer something sweet with my tea rather than in it!

I was torn on whether I should give this three or four stars. I probably won't be buying it again, but it's a very nice tea! Just not my type of tea.

I let the water sit for a bit after boiling (I don't have a thermometer or fancy, precise kettle) and only brewed it for a short bit (I tend to like my teas a bit weak). There was no bitterness, and the caramel flavor was mild and pleasant in combination with the dark Ceylon. So while I don't think it will become a regular for me, I definitely enjoyed this, and will drink another steeping.

Despite the wonderful aroma that wafted from the cup when the hot water hit the leaves, the flavor of this tea left me underwhelmed. Brewed at 200F for 3-ish minutes and sweetened with some rock sugar, it tasted more like burnt sugar than caramel to me, yet somehow it still felt weak. A second steep at 212F for approximately the same time produced better results. This time round I added a few grains of kosher salt along with the rock sugar. The caramel flavor was perhaps more of a suggestion, but at least this steep didn't remind me of burnt sugar. It's not a bad tea; it's just not as good as I expected. That said, I have had it in blends with great success. For me this is a tea to be enjoyed in partnership with other flavors, not on it's own.

This is one of my favorite dessert teas, and I always keep some on-hand. It's great for blending at home, I love adding a dash to chocolate blends, especially decaf ones for a half-caf kick. It's also delicious in chai! But don't let those recommendations fool you - this stands up well on its own, too!

A warm, soft caramel note paired with a lovely Ceylon. Nothing artificial tasting and not sickly sweet. A good cup to get your day going right!

★★★★☆

Update: learned more about brewing and can reduce the bitterness by going with a lower temp 190ish. Still wish for a richer caramel flavor but have yet to try cream with this one which may be what it is missing.
Original: Admittedly, I was hoping for a richer caramel flavor from this tea. There is a toasty, slight smoky bitterness that overpowers the caramel. This tea does have interesting potential for blends. A touch of sugar or cream could also easily tame the bitterness and may allow some of the caramel flavor to come through.

Nice, smooth, and sweet tea. This one definitely has a caramel nuance, but it isn't as distinct as the butterscotch or as deliciously sweet as the cream tea. This tea isn't bad, it is subtle and lovely, but I don't enjoy it as much as Adagio's combined yeas like Tigereye.

This is exactly what is advertised, yummy caramel melted in your cup! Add some sweetener and it gets better. Black flavored teas are not the first I reach for, but this makes a nice dessert cup or a nice fall sipper. I would revisit it again! Happy Sipping!

This one definitely tastes and smells as advertised (like caramel), so 4/5. But for me personally, the smell is actually so sweet as to be off-putting.

Drinking along with the CommuniTEA: A fragrance reminiscent to Kraft caramel squares (caramel mixed with plastic notes) is noticed on the packet and dry ingredients. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F, I notice a dark black tea with rich caramel notes in my cup. When I take a sip, I taste a fairly astringent, dry black tea with some subtle caramel notes mixed in to soften the black tea tannins. Caramel is more present on the nose than in the mouth.

Just ok. It smelled delightful in the pouch! After steeping the recommended time and temperature it just seems ok. A black tea with some sweetness. It doesn't taste that much like caramel. I didn't add anything, perhaps something would have helped it. I might get a sample in the future to play around with it, but not a whole bag at this point.

★★★★☆

Smooth mouthfeel but somewhat bitter and astringent (I got distracted and slightly oversteeped which may also be a factor.) The caramel flavor is not that strong, but with some sugar and cooling time it shows up a bit more. I enjoyed this the most after adding sugar and milk which gave it a richer flavor and helped the caramel have a greater presence. (4 min @ 200)

CommuniTEA Sample: Very strong caramel aroma when opening the packet today. I did oversteep it a bit, but the caramel flavor was not as strong as I would have liked. It does go great with a splash of cream in it.

Yummy Car-a-mel! Brewed 212 for 3 min and had strong astringency so I added sweetener and tsp of powder milk and now it’s like I have dessert in my cup. A good strong cuppa hot sweet tea!

3 Nov 21 communiTEA re-taste: I had 3.36 grams of tea, enough for a 13 ounce steep. Since my last review, I’ve learned to steep Ceylon black teas at 190°F to lower bitterness. I still added ½ teaspoon of brown sugar just in case. From start to finish very pleasant clean buttery caramel flavors were noted. Moderate dark cocoa flavors were noted from the tea towards finish. There was absolutely no bitterness! This time we have a 5⭐️!

⭐️⭐️ 2 Nov 20 communiTEA review: Pleasant and sweet caramel aromas were noted from my communiTEA packet. Black tea aromas were strong, so I decided to do a steep at 200ºF to stave off any bitterness from the tea.

When hot, mild caramel flavors were noted. I added some brown sugar for some bitterness that was noted and to help bring out more caramel flavors. When warm, smooth and moderate caramel flavors were noted. An appropriate amount of astringency from the Ceylon black was present on the tongue, just like a dry wine. Unfortunately, as the tea cooled, an unpleasant bitterness overtook any caramel flavors. The overall taste reminded me of raw cocoa nibs. (3 mins @ 200ºF, 1/2 tsp brown sugar)

Caramel tea is fantastic! I love the smooth, silky mellow flavor-taste. I prefer milk and sweetener to bring out the candy distinct flavor. Perfect for fall and christmas seasons, to bring back childhood memories.

My sample had a limited caramel flavor and no caramel scent. With a little honey and milk it was better. I also tried adding a little caramel and that didn't improve the tea.

EDIT: I've started to turn a corner on this one. The issue I was having was the steep temperature was much too high and it made the tea very astringent. Lowering the temperature makes a much better cup. I'm still trying to narrow it down to a time and temperature combination that suits me best but it's looking like I'll get there eventually.

Not my favorite in the least. I had tried this one before I had it through the CommuniTEA and I didn't really like it. Too bad, too, since my favorite isn't vegan and this one is.

This one smells kind of like caramel, but really doesn't taste like much more than a slightly sweeter-than-usual standard black tea. It's nice, but in a blind taste test I would never be able to clock this one as caramel.
