Blackberry Customer Reviews

Ceylon black tea infused with sweetly tart berries. Floral-fruity and bakery aroma, like fresh berry scones.

I will try with a second steeping and a lower temperature, but my initial impression is that this is very bitter at 212 for 3min

Blackberry tea! Mmm!

Picking blackberries
Stealing a few to munch on!
Stained fingers and lips!

I fill my basket
Then I eat and pick some more!
Washed by rain, I say!

I am a huge bear
I pretend as I walk home
I sniff, stomp, and growl!

Mom will make some treats!
Delicious blackberry jam!
Scones and crumb pie, too!

This tea is that scent
Of blackberries straight or baked
With cream and without!

Make the time to play
Close your eyes and imagine
You are in the woods!

There was a nice blackberry flavor in this one--both hot and cold. Enjoyable.

This was a pleasant tea with a good aroma and flavor. The blackberry was a bit subdued for my tastes, but still complimented the black tea. Might try this with a bit of cream next time.

I dearly love this tea. I love all fruit teas, honestly, but the blackberry flavor in this tea is strong! There can be no doubt what flavor you're drinking with this one. It is delicious black but when cream and sweetener are added, it becomes a delicious dessert treat.

Beautiful on it's own or blended with other teas, I am sipping a blackberry/caramel blend with a splash of almond milk that's lovely!

All the ingredients were present in the flavor of this tea. Rich black tea, sharp raspberry leaves and sweet juicy blackberry.
I would recommend this as a refreshing ice tea for a hot summer day.

I was surprised at how much we loved this! The blackberry flavor is just right, not too strong or hidden. It isn't candyish like some fruit flavorings can be. This is a lovely berry-tinted black tea that can be drunk with or without milk.

Not much flavor. I won't likely be getting this particular tea again.

This may be my ultimate favorite tea. It is so tasty, smells delicious and is always welcome in my cup. The flavors are so divine. Sweet, not tart, and when paired with my favorite Sweet Creamer it is perfection.

We enjoy this tea hot and iced. It's a nice summer tea. If I were given this tea in a blind taste test, I don't think I would have named it as blackberry, but I don't find it to be offensive in any way. It is fruity and definitely in the berry spectrum of flavor. A little cream and sweetener edge out the astringency. Limiting the steep time and temperature will also mitigate the astringency.
Update: Despite my initial reservations, I find myself going back to this tea again and again. I have especially enjoyed it as a rotation in my fall teas; the sturdy, fruity blackberry offers a nice change of pace from my spicy teas, but still feels seasonal somehow. It has become one of my go-to teas in autumn, especially as a blackberry latte.

My husband, who LOVES black berry teas, 'just didn't like it'... Not sure if it was a funky batch or what, but black blackberry tea should, in theory, be a top pick for him!

★★★★☆

Very berry in taste from start to finish but as it cooled, it became very astringent. I'm no stranger to astringency but it contrasts very starkly against the sweetness of its namesake.

I really dislike the taste, but I dislike the smell even more. To me it is very artificial and pungent. The cherry marzipan oolong tea (also bad in my opinion) has a similar artificial smell and taste but this is much stronger to the point I threw out the rest of the bag. I tried it with and without sugar and added cream…nothing helped.

Love this blackberry tea, brewed at a lower temp to ward off any bitterness. I really enjoy this tea in the Earl grey blends I've had with it.

So, I waffle between 4 and 5 stars for this one. This is because the rasberry leaves can make for a finicky brew. Steep a touch too hot or too long and you get bitter but if steeped just right, this tea is fabulous. The blackberry is more like a good flavoring than the actual fruit but very tasty. Reminded me of the bright berry flavor of a dark jello without the heavy sweetness.

The smell of this blend is of wonderfully juicy blackberries. The taste is of equally balanced blackberry flavor and black tea. A lovely blend that reminds me of blackberry gummy candy.

CommuniTEA packet tasting, this is a delicious blackberry tea. I sweetened mine with honey made by bees in my yard. I do feel this is more a summer tea than a fall tea, but it was tasty regardless of the season. Happy sipping!

Do not steep at the recommended temperature of 212 -- too bitter! (and I like a little bitterness in my tea, but this was too much.) WIth a substantial addition of sugar the bitterness was tamed a bit. There is a noticeable blackberry flavor, but the black tea flavor is definitely stronger than the blackberry. Would like to try this again steeped at a temp under 200 because I think it has potential.

Oct 14th '21: Since I got another pack of this tea in my Communitea box, I decided to try it cold steeped like I wanted to last year. My verdict: not as good as it was hot. There's an artificial, syrupy taste to the tea, though with a mellow and almost pleasant after taste. My five star rating still stands, be definitely recommend it hot instead.

Oct 13th '20: This tea has a wonderful fruity flavor to it, and I would love to try it iced or cold-steeped. There is a slight bitter note to it, not unlike an actual blackberry.

For anyone finding the bitter flavor overpowering, I would recommend steeping this tea(and all black teas, really) at 195 degrees F/90 degrees C instead of at a full boil like Adagio recommends. Even black teas can burn if the water is too hot, I find them all much better when brewed at a slightly lower temperature.

Dry tea does smells of blackberries. Once brewed, the resulting cup is a medium brown with the same fruity blackberry scent. When hot, moderate blackberry notes can be tasted, with a hint of raspberry leaf in the finish adding a touch of bitterness. When warm, more of the sweet blackberry flavor came through, helped by the bright Ceylon tea base. The bitterness of the raspberry leaves helped to cut through in the finish. Overall, nice blend, not too sweet and does not lean too bitter. Brewed at 200 for 3 minutes.

This tea smells phenomenal, and tastes great, but as others have mentioned - steep on a lower temperature, for less time, than you might expect! It can get bitter fast, but a second steep is usually a little more forgiving.

I've enjoyed this tea as a component of several different blends before, so trying it on its own was a nice change. Very smooth, with wonderful fruity notes over the black tea base. A nice tea first thing in the morning!

I tend to butcher black teas so I tried my best to be good with this one. Slightly under boiling temp for 3 mintues yielded a smooth, slightly bitter black tea with some berry flavor. It's really good, very inoffensive, and very simple. Would be a great tea for someone who isn't ready to dive off the deep end with some crazier teas!

This tea doesn't taste like blackberries so much as blackberry desserts, but that's fine by me! I added a little milk and sugar and treated it like a dessert tea, and it was absolutely scrumptious. I love it in blends so I had a feeling I'd love it on its own!

Really enjoyed this tea which had a very tasty blackberry flavor. An extra bonus was that instead of an herbal, this is a black tea with a good caffeine boost to start the morning. Brewed at 195 for 4 minutes.

One of my favorite Fandom blends is Baskerville Bramble which uses this tea amongst three. By itself, it was pretty good, but keep an eye on steeping time. I've learned ceylons are unkind when you oversteep them.

I was predisposed to like this tea since one of my favorites is blackberry sage. Opening the package let out the most wonderful aroma of blackberries and the taste didn't disappoint. The only thing that I noticed was that it seemed to have a sort of watery, or watered down kind of feel to it. Not that the flavor was watered down--I could definitely taste the blackberries, it just felt a little 'watery'. Maybe what I'm trying to say is that it wasn't as full bodied as I expected. All in all, I enjoyed this tea and wouldn't hesitate to purchase it.
I used my usual rock sugar to sweeten and bring out the flavor and steeped as directed on the package for 3 min at 212 degrees.
