Ceylon black tea infused with sweetly tart berries. Floral-fruity and bakery aroma, like fresh berry scones.

Tastes true to its name! I enjoyed it. I received a sample of it but didn't get a chance to enjoy it. The bag arrived empty somehow lol. But it smelled so amazing I had to try it.

★★★★☆

Smooth. Slight berry taste, but not overpowering. Not bitter. Berry aroma without smelling or tasting sweet. I love it!

UPDATE -- This will teach me to read the brewing notes on the package. This blend is much improved with a shorter steep time and particular attention to the amount of leaves in the pot. A good fruit tea with a full berry taste. It's sweet and tart, but not bitter when I brew it to specs. Thanks to Adagio for their communications. I am still learning in my quest to be a tea connoisseur.

ORIGINAL -- My first few brews have been bitter. Trying to adjust for time and temp and then amount before giving up. But so far this is not a favorite.

Excellent flavor. Pairs great with a little cream - extremely smooth, classic. Thus far - my favorite.

This is a great afternoon fruity flavored tea. it is good with scones! @adagioteas

I was excited for this one since it is the base of one of my favorite blends. Not sure if somehow due to my brewing temp- but tasted very sweet and double bubble chewing gum to me for some reason...

★★★★☆

Updated: Today's CommuniTea packet is blackberry, which is made of black tea, blackberry flavor and raspberry leaves. It smells very sweet in the packet and still reminds me of bubble gum. It smells a little less intense in the cup, but still sweet. I've learned that is another tea that I like more in blend than on its own, and when I don't over steep it. 12 ounces of 200 degree water for three minutes.

CommuniTEA Sample: Strong berry aroma upon opening the packet. The flavor was delicious and did not experience any bitterness from the black tea. I stirred in a little bit of brown sugar (I was out of honey) and it brought out the sweetened blackberry even more. Love this and plan to order some in the future!

As far as berry tea goes, this one is fabulous! The smell was amazing when opening the packet. As it brewed, my kitchen was filled with the pleasant aroma. The taste is spot on for what I expected. A great comfort tea when I'm reaching for a fruit tea.

This tea has a sweet spot that is difficult to hit. Steep at a low temp just a couple minutes or it will get bitter. I used 195° for 2.5 mins. When hot (almost too hot) the tea was smooth with a great blackberry flavor. Once warm the blackberry flavor became more medicinal with a funny aftertaste. I added honey, but this did not help with that taste. Decided to chill the rest. It was a bit better chilled, but not a tea I would seek out. I did not cold brew this. If the medicinal taste is decreased with cold-brewing then this would make a great iced tea. Cheers!

3.7.22 review. Increased from 3 to 4 stars. I cold brewed this one today and it is much better than hot. I found subtle astringency and nice berry flavors. Bit better sweetened. Still not a flavor that I love, but would not turn this down if cold brewed. Enjoy!

Blackberry - what a lovely fragrance emitted from the envelope. I was immediately taken back to summer and picking blackberries (okay - it is about 30 this morning, so summer sounds good).
I brewed the tea for 3 minutes and the flavor was nice and fruity. Pleasant taste, and just a bit tart on the pallet. Would be a good fruit tea for summer!

Oh my, what a yummy tea! I enjoyed it just as is, and there was plenty of blackberry flavor in it. I followed the directions and used 212 degree water and steeped it for 3 minutes. Perfect! I would be very happy to have this again.

This blend starts off with a smell that's bursting with bright blackberry brilliance! I cold steeped mine and had enough for 300ml left refrigerated for 9 hours. The result is a beautiful amber infusion with a smooth black tea base and the juicy flavor of plump blackberries fresh off the vine. It was perfect for sipping straight with it's natural sweetness and turns into a lovely dessert in a cup when mixed with cream iced tea. Adding monk fruit smoothed the sharp edges of the black tea flavor and I'll definitely be adding this to my wishlist to experiment with in the future.

Loved the fullness of the blackberries. They tasted fresh and not artificial at all. Used my 2nd steep as an iced tea and it was delicious

Blackberry has a fruity semi sweet with a slight tangy taste. This delightful berry black tea is great with milk, sweetener and great for blending with other flavors.

This has a nice berry-forward flavor and a delicate sweet scent. I found this perfectly drinkable black, but suspect it would take well to cream and sugar to up the indulgence factor. I didn't find this artificial tasting at all which is a criticism I often find with berry teas. Glad to have tried this one.

This is a delightful black tea with just the right tang from the blackberries. I added some cream and a tiny bit of sugar to really bring out the flavors.

I felt meh about this one with it hot. Not bad, but also not quite the berry flavor I'd wanted - I agree a bit with the medicinal quality echoed in other reviews. On a second steep, though, I tried it iced with some blueberry creamed honey as sweetener and that made this tea a perfect addition to a warm early March day!

A perfectly tasty blackberry tea. Mind the slightly thorny process of getting a smooth cup of dark berry, though, with careful brewing.

My CT packet had 3 g/ 2 tsp of very aromatic dark tea leaves dotted with beige colored raspberry leaves. Brewed 12 oz. at 195*F and pulled the steep on the dot of 3 min. to avoid bitterness. None was detected, just some astringency noticed at the finish in the dark amber liquor. The tea had a slightly tannic taste with a raspberry tartness to the blackberry flavor. A sweetener add gave the berry flavor a nice lift and tamed the tannic taste and raspberry tartness more. I tried adding dairy but found I liked the berry flavor best sweetened and true.

A 6 oz. resteep was delightful and less astringent for easier sipping. Chilled overnight, the berry and tannins were subdued by the cold and the tea was very pleasant tasting. Blackberry is a nice change from my usual go to blueberry and raspberry flavored teas. The dark earthy flavor is welcome now and then and adds a nice touch to blends like Blackberry Sage Oolong, a favorite!

I’m not much of a berry fan, unless blended with sweet dessert like accents. I chose to cold brew this, and it came out very mild and refreshing, with no bitter accents. While it’s not a favorite, it was pleasant and enjoyable straight and cold.

CommuniTEA 3/7/22: I'm getting blackcurrant vibes from this instead of blackberry. I shared this cup with my parents and they both said the same. Is it the raspberry leaves? Is it the scent of the flavoring mixing with the leaves? I'm not sure. It was OK. Not bad, not good, just somewhere in the middle that left me wanting more.

The Blackberry tea delivered for me. The blackberry, raspberry, and citrus notes came through at different times but definitely there. I steeped the tea at 195 for 5 minutes and received not astringency but there was a little dryness after each mouthful. I found the taste so delightful I am sure I will re-order this tea. When the cuppa began to cool the sweet notes increased without any additive. A true satisfying winner.

Updated Review (3/7/22): While my first time steeping this ended a bit bitter, this time, I cut the steep time to 2.5 minutes and it was just LOVELY. Very fruit forward, with no bitterness. Still smelled like bubblegum though!

Original Review:
Bubblegum. First thing I thought when I smelled the dry leaves, was classic, sugary, bubblegum. When I first steeped it, I let it go a bit long and it was pretty bitter. Added more sweetener and went a little overboard. As it cooled, the sweetness factor did too and it was a bit more enjoyable. But we circled right back to bubblegum at the end. That sort of sugary after taste you get right before the gum is spent and its completely coating your tongue!

I really enjoy this one, and I find that (for my tastes) I didn't mind just sticking my tea bag in the cup and leaving it there to steep forever while I drank it over the course of the morning.

Drinking with the CommuniTEA:
10/14/21 Review: Strong ripe berry fragrance wafting from the dry ingredients and packets. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F (to minimize black tea tannins), I notice tart berry scents on the nose of my cup. When I take a sip, I enjoy a very pleasant sweet berry flavor with strong astringent/dry black tea and lingering blackberry on the finish.
3/7/22 Updated Review: Strong blackberry with black currant notes noticed form the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F, black currants fragrance noticed from my cup along with honey ceylon tea notes. When I take a sip, this flavored tea is very good, I am getting more black currant notes than blackberry with dry tannins on the finish. Updated from 4 to 5 stars. If you are a fan of blackberry, you should check out Adagio's Blackberry Sage Oolong. It's one of my favorites.

2022-03-07 Update: Plenty of blackberry aromas enticingly wafted up out of today's packet.
I managed to steep for the shorter 3-minute duration at 212°F this time around. The resulting tea was milder and mellow compared to the version steeped for the full 5 minutes. It was still a very delicious blackberry flavored tea.

2021-10-14 CommuniTEA Review:

Blackberry aromas burst out of today's packet. An absent-minded steep accidentally resulted in a full 5 minutes at 212°F to create a bold mahogany colored brew.

The tea was full-bodied and brisk, yet surprisingly without bitterness even at the 5 minute steep mark. Plenty of fresh blackberry flavors came through well. Tea tannins were bold yet not too strong. A moderate level of astringency closed out each sip and lingered afterwards.

As a plain blackberry black tea, this one sure delivers on the promise of berry flavor. Next time I'd probably steep it at 3 minutes, but I'm still giving it a 5 star rating given the circumstances.

The dried tea in the CommuniTea pouch had a nice rich blackberry smell to it. I steeped this overnight in the fridge and added a little Stevia per my usual. It has a nice strong blackberry taste that held up even with multiple steeps of my leaves. A nice tea on it’s own, but also will mix well with others.

To be fair, this isn't a bad tea, but it does not suggest blackberry to me. If anything, I'd say it's more black raspberry. The dry leaves give off a strong jammy aroma. Once brewed, the standard notes of the black tea are complemented by a tart, fruity taste that to me is more reminiscent of raspberry than blackberry. That is likely the result of the raspberry leaves blended in with the tea. Though the bitterness they can bring to the table doesn't bother me as it does others, I can understand why the flavoring in this tea would come across as medicinal as other reviewers have noted. Fortunately for me, it did not come across as intensely medicinal as other fruity teas I have tried from Adagio. So although this blackberry tea yields a satisfactory cup, Adagio offers other fruit-flavored teas that I prefer. (3-4 minutes @ 212F)

Really enjoyed this tea. Steeped 3 mins@180° . It was nice hot and even better as it cooled. I would like to try this blended with Earl Gray as suggested by others in the CommuniTea group.
This year I cold brewed the tea and had it iced. It was really good.

I read quite a few other reviews, and took the advice of many by steeping this at a lower temp. No bitterness noted at 195for 3 min. It was a tad medicinal at first but after I added some oat milk it mellowed right out. Simply delicious fruit!

This sip is fruity and mildly astringent with lingering raspberry leaf flavor. I added some creamer, which made the fruitiness a bit sweeter. Raspberry leaves aren't really a flavor I love, so this one was not my favorite.

I didn't get a lot of blackberry flavor from this one until I added milk and sugar, and even then it seemed like it was mostly capturing the bitter flavor of blackberries. Overall it was nice enough, but I gave most of my communiTea cup to my partner because he tasted it and really liked it!

212 degrees for 3 minutes. I was lazy and just steeped how the package said and I really liked it! The flavor reminds me more of lingonberries than blackberries, but I still enjoyed it. I drank it black with no sweetener and detected no bitterness. I think this one could grow on me :)
