This is a general comment on all of Adagio's cherry-flavored teas, of which I've tried several (this one was the only available to review). The cherry flavor they use has a stringent, almost alcoholic taste to it that bites my tongue unpleasantly. Bummer because I love cherry flavor.

I was a little worried that it would taste cough syrupy, but it's great--the cherry taste isn't overwhelming but it's definitely present and very enjoyable

Amazing blend of tea and cherry flavor, one of my absolute favorites!

I got this one for its value in treating gout. I like it, but not as much as my other regulars. @adagioteas will buy again for its therapeutic value.

I didn't really like this one. The smell was a bit off putting, almost too tart with the rose hips and some floral cherry cough syrup flavor. I don't think I would ever get this one again. I took a few sips and poured it down the sink. D:

Love this, tastes of cherry, and isn't as cloyingly artificial as many others I have tried.
I am usually an instant 'nope!' when it comes to rose and/or rosehip, but this works. I know some deem this tea sour, and that's OK, but if you like sour (not super sour) hard candy, you'll like this :)

Deliciously balanced dessert tea! Dark and juicy, fruity-sweet but not sugary.
Edit: Seems like it varies a lot between brews, actually. My second pot turned out a LOT more floral and perfume-y than my first. I do like rose tea too, so it's not bad, but I brew flavored teas when I'm in the mood for something very specific, so consistency is important!

I bought this for a Christmas gift so I can’t give my review.

This is so rich and yummy!! Super flavorful!!!
★★☆☆☆
Bought this for iced tea, but I don't care for the flavor at all. I think it's too heavy for a summer refreshment, so I tried it as a hot tea. Nope. This is an unusual taste.

Super tasty tea with full flavor. At the time I have ordered it was not available in tea bags.

Very strong cherry taste, a little startling at first, but very pleasant the more you sip. Nice with some creamed honey and oat milk.

This has a faint flavored medicine quality to it but the overall flavor isn't bad.

I like cherry, so thought this would be a good choice. Excellent with a smidge of sweetener and cream. It's bright but not overly fruity. Good cherry undertones without being overpowering. I actually made this in a thermos and drank it throughout the day and it was lovely!

This is my husbands favorite tea! I have to re-order it every time I can as he enjoys it as his after dinner cup. Nice cherry fragrance when you open the bag. Brews very nicely at 212 for 3 mins.

The cherry and rose petals go together surprisingly well! Fruity, sweet and floral. A little sugar brings out all the flavors.

I LOVE this tea as a sweetened iced tea or a hot tea with cream. Lovely cherry flavor and awesome smell.

CommuniTEA Sample: Really enjoyed today's tea, even if I over steeped it. Because of that, it was a bit harsher than I like, but I did enjoy the flavor quite a bit. The flavor did not taste medicinal to me and I appreciated that there was not a lot of rose in it. Definitely picking up some of this to go into my rotation.

I find such a new flavor with this tea that I find myself inspired to create blends with all the other teas I ve purchased from Adagio. I use a small amount in the blend and sometimes add cream flavored tea to give it a fuller flavor.

I didn't taste much cherry in this blend. The floral notes were more noticeable as well as the black tea itself.
★★★☆☆
Too bitter for my taste buds. I added some passion fruit to sweeten it up.
★★★★☆
I purchased a sample package of this tea and am enjoying it. I did not taste rose and the taste was close to the taste of the fresh black cherries I just purchased from the grocery store. There were a lot of cherry pieces in my packet. Overall a very pleasing cup. It did not taste medicinal to me at all. The black tea supported, but did not overpower, the cherry notes.

Review is for the previous cherry, I've yet to try the updated black cherry tea.
I agree with other reviewers, this doesn't taste like an actual cherry. That being said, it does taste strongly of that delicious artificial cherry, like any cherry flavored candy. I think it's better blended and the nice thing about this flavor is that a little goes a long way and it holds up against multiple resteeps.
★★★★★
I actually really liked this cherry black tea, unlike a lot of other CommuniTEA reviewers. I brewed at 200F for 3 minutes, and it ended up with an enjoyable cherry tea with an undertone of rose hip tartness. I didn't taste the blackberry or the rose much, but they seemed to tame the cherry some. I dunno, overall I really liked this.

I truly appreciate the effort to listen to customers and tweak the ratio to improve this tea, but I’m sorry I still cannot recommend it. It’s okay, not great. There remains an artificial aftertaste like you might find in flavored cough syrup. My CommuniTEA serving did not have any actual cherry in it. I feel the addition of smaller actual cherry pieces as opposed to an occasional large cherry would be preferable to cherry flavoring. This is better in my opinion than previous cherry teas though!

This still had a medicinal undertone but I did like it better then the orginal which was one of the first I tried from adagio. I did get a free packet last order, I'll be mixing it with chocolate chip or Irish stout. Its always pretty yummy mixed.

Amazing tea!!! The black Cherry is just strong enough and easy to enjoy.

Just not a fan of cherry teas. The taste is just off for me. This is the first one that I was able to tolerate and drink the whole cup. Medicinal smell is hard for me to get passed. The taste of this one isn’t as medicinal as the smell. Added honey which helped bring out the cherry flavor a bit more. The second steep I mixed in some green rooibos citron which made a nice cup of tea. Medicinal smell was absent and there was a nice citrus flavor with cherry on the background. Steeped 195° for 3 mins.

2021 CommuniTea update: 4 stars! The new, reformulated cherry tea by Adagio, Black Cherry, updates and improves the old - revamping with a cherry flavor that is less cough drop and more true, in flavor, to the experience of eating actual cherries. If you want something sweeter yet, try their Cherry Marzipan Oolong (a favorite of mine). But if sweeter is not your cup of tea, this Black Cherry is worth a try. The tea brews a gorgeous color, similar to hibiscus but not quite as deep. I brewed at 212F for 2.5 minutes.
Old review from 2-26-14: (2 stars) I love cherries. I'm sad to say I do not like this tea. I was a bit uncertain because I do tend to shy away from cherry-flavored things. I was hoping this tea would be different. For some reason cherry doesn't seem to transfer well to flavoring.
I've tried this tea plain, in blends - even cold. It smells and tastes... unpleasant. I recommend Dewy Cherry over this.

I enjoyed this tea. I love cherry flavour and was happy that the blackberry flavour was stronger than the rose. I added a bit of sweetener to this as well.

This blend used to be just Cherry. I’ve updated my review. I like this version better, it’s good on it own. I would like it better if there was a bit more tartness, but I’m pretty happy with it now.
I liked this one, the cherry isn’t in your face, and the flavor weakens significantly after the first cup. I feel like it would be better as an addition rather than by itself, but trying it as is helps me get a better understanding of the various flavors I put together when thinking up new blends.

This is the first time trying this tea. I enjoyed the cherry flavors¿not so much a fan of the rose

I received a promo pack of this improved cherry tea but this is my CommuniTEA packet review as I’ve yet to open the promo. Having tried a few, I’m not a huge fan of cherry teas. This one went to the cough syrup zone more than I’d like. I tasted it chilled. The black berry is very subtle but the imitation cherry is strong. If you like that, this is a good one to try! Happy sipping!

This tea was alright; though it smelled like Robitussin in the packet, there wasn’t a ton of cherry flavor when brewed, it was more of a background flavor. I do think this would make a nice tea for blending though.

I hate rose in my tea, so I appreciate there being less rose in this new version. I picked out the few petals that were in my CommuniTEA packet. It still had a hint of rose flavor, but not as overpowering. I wouldn't purchase a bag of this for myself, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at it if it was offered to me.

I dislike the cherry flavor in every Adagio tea as it is too fake and floral tasting on its own, and then to add actual rose in with it just makes it worse. It is worth noting that I hate rose in my tea. I honestly didn't notice much difference in this new version from the old version... it still just tasted like fake floral cherries.

Ugh. WAAAAAAAY too much rose in this tea. Cherry alone is questionable anyway, but the overwhelming rose just made this too thick and like potpourri for me.
★★★★☆
Other cherry blends have tasted like a mouth full of almond extract to me, but this one tasted slightly less artificial. Adding a splash of brown sugar oatmilk creamer rounded out the flavors of cherry and rose, and left me with a decadent, velvety mouthfeel. Often times the rose is too much, but there was just enough to add a floral suggestion instead of a potpourri punch in the face. Remarkably, I didn't find any visual evidence of cherries in my blend, though it did brew into a beautiful whiskey/sunset color. Others had mentioned cold brewing this and getting more of a cherry flavor that way, but even without aggressive cherry taste, this tea was still pretty delicious and I'd definitely drink it again.

Tried the '21 new and improved version as part of CommuniTea. This had a nice cherry scent straight from the packet. Warm, I really enjoyed the cherry flavor with hint of rose. I would warn against too high a temp as I brewed at 212 for 3 min and this became extremely bitter as it cooled. A 190ish temp or cold brewing seems like a better option to maximise on flavor without the bitter kick.

As a cherry lover I still think there could be more in this tea. That being said, it’s definitely better that last year. I liked it better cold brewed, brought out more of the cherry. Love the addition of blackberry and less rose. Not my favorite of the cherry teas but still good.

Dry tea smells like cherry medicine. I spy a few cherry pieces and a rose petal among the black tea. Once brewed, the resulting cup was a medium dark brown with the same medicinal cherry scent. When hot, the medicinal cherry taste is the most prominent, with the backdrop of black tea. When warm, the cherry mixes with some moderate rose flavors. The black tea did not turn too bitter, but the cherry flavor still had the medicinal quality to me, and carried into the finish. It was drinkable, but I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase. Brewed at 200 for 3 minutes.

While I was glad this wasn't a in your face tart cherry tea, a bit more Cherry notes would have been welcome. I had zero fruit flavor, it was all rose. It was just a bit too perfume y for my liking

For tea lovers who add almond, did you add almond extract?

I never tasted the original version of this tea, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I really enjoyed this cup! I love cherries and cherry-flavored things, and I was impressed by how this tea tasted specifically like black cherry. I also love the cherry-rose flavor combination, and thought it was well-balanced in this cup.
I steeped at 200 for 4 minutes, and that was perfect for me. I drank it hot and added a splash of cream as the description recommended and it was, as advertised, utterly decadent.
I still prefer the Cherry Marzipan Oolong, but this is nevertheless a solid cherry tea.

Update: August 2021
I originally tried this in 2020 and gave it 3 stars. Today I tried the new black Cherry version.
Adagio have definitely improved on the flavor profile. This was a much enjoyed tea today. Instead of a cherry could syrup flavor it was more of a cherry lollipop. ( I did add sugar)
The only reason for the four stars is I still do not like Rose in the with the cherry. But it was a lot less the. The previous blend.
Aug 2020 This tea was just okay for me. I really wanted a stronger cherry flavor but ended up tasting more of the rose. I purchased it to mix with the almond. Which was pleasing.
Update: I probaby woud not have tried this again it if had not been part of the CommuiTEA. This time I took out the rose petals, and was sure to get a dried cherry in the pot to steep. It was much more pleaseing. I could drink this one. Where as with the rose I could not. I do think it needs another scoop of the cherries so you are sure to get cherries in each pour.

I use to be a huge fan of everything Cherry for years. I still look forward to my Aunt’s cherry pie every year, but this tea doesn’t feel like cherry to me. I taste berry, but not enough cherry after steeping for three minutes with some rock sugar.

The cherry flavor seemed very light and clean in my opinion. I really like cherry teas in general. I added some sugar and it really brought out the cherry flavor. I cold brewed the tea overnight and enjoyed it iced with slight sweetener.
