I did not taste much cherry in this blend--the floral notes were more noticeable to me, as well as the black tea itself. Not a bad blend, but I just wish it had more cherry. Why include the rose at all? Maybe I am just not registering the cherry flavoring that they use as cherry...

This is definitely better than the other cherry blend I've had. This tastes light light, true cherry and rose with rosehips in a not very strong black tea. I dislike rose so this is not for me, but the flavors are delicate enough that I can drink it.

My CommuniTEA packet was unbalanced: no cherries, no rose petals, and one sad, solitary rose hip. That being said, there’s still a lot of flavor infused into the tea leaves themselves, and the blend brews to a hearty dark amber with tart aromas of berry. However, I’m a bizarre person that actually likes the taste of cherry cough syrup, so I don’t like the new-and-improved blend as much as the previous, but if medicine-tasting tea is not your thing, drink on.

The tartness of the cherries faded into the bitterness of the black tea until I added a bit of sweetener.

Cherry flavor and rose flavor were mild and blended well, but there was a bitterness that fought to the top in the end. Sugar and cream helped make this a drinkable blend.

There is just something about Adagio's cherry flavoring that I can't stomach. It smells so extra and then imparts too little flavor. It's just not working for me on all fronts. That said, this tea is not undrinkable, but it definitely falls into my meh category. And if you hate rose (which I don't mind), just go ahead and dump that cup now. You won't be happy! I added some monkfruit to see if some sweet would improve the brew and I think that helped a bit, but I still wouldn't reach for this one. Happy Sipping!

Upon opening the package in my CommuniTea I had a very medicinal cherry scent. After brewing there was still a medicinal scent and the first taste was bitter. Upon further drinking the bitterness went away but there was a very medicinal cherry flavor.

I didn’t get even the slightest cherry taste from this.

I liked it. Unlike many others I didn’t find the rose overpowering. I mainly tasted cherry and black tea. Nice with a dab of honey. The cherry was pretty mellow and the black tea was more of the star here.

I don't like the new formulation of this tea. Before, it mostly tasted of rose which I like. I don't like artificial cherry flavor and this tea now has it in abundance. It was undrinkable until I added cream which toned down the 'cherry' flavor. Not a tea that I would buy. 3 stars with cream, 2 without.

I feared medicinal cherry flavor, but tasted mostly black tea and some floral. I never tasted the old version, so I can't really give you the difference between the two.

Sipping along with the CommuniTEA: Lots of strong cherry scents wafting from dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 190° F (to minimize black tea tannins), I notice dark cherry fruit notes from my cup. When I take e sip, more subdued dark cherry flavors are noticed with a hint of floral/blossom fragrance followed by a somewhat strong black tannins. This tea has nice balanced sweet fruit essence followed by palate drying tannins on the finish, leaving you wanting another sip. Great tea.

Bountiful cherry flavor! I drank today's CommuniTea hot and plain and thought it was quite enjoyable. I like it much more than the retired cherry tea. 🍒

11 Aug 2021 review: I decided to re-review this “upgrade” today. The only thing that appeared to be missing from my communiTEA packet were the cherries. Moderate cherry flavoring aromas and mild rose aromas were noted.
I had 3.15 grams of ingredients, enough for a 12.75 ounce steep. I steeped at 190°F to avoid any possible Ceylon black tea bitterness. I pulled the steep at the three minute mark, when the color depth was to my liking.
When hot, a mild tartness was noted from the rose hips. There was no black tea bitterness. I added some sugar to bring-out the fruit and tame tart flavors.
When warm, black tea flavors were mild, providing just the proper base for this blend. Moderately pleasant black cherry flavors were noted. And yes, it tasted like cherry cough syrup this time! Rose flavors from the hips and petals were moderate. Rose hips were a wee bit tart.
Personally, the rose flavors were a bit over-the-top. I’m also thinking that this blend might make a nice iced tea, minus the rose. Your thoughts might differ. This “upgrade version” was a downgrade to ⭐️⭐️. (3 mins @ 190ºF, ⅜ tsp sugar)
10 Aug 2020 review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In the bag I saw a few rose petals, but didn’t see any cherry pieces ... strong cherry and mild rose aromas were noted. Cherry and rose flavors & aromas were very light when hot. Black tea flavors started taking over as things cooled down and provided pleasant chocolate/cherry cordial flavors. Previously, I have not cared for any of the Adagio teas containing cherry. Soooo ...
Steeping notes: I always use a 12 oz cup and the whole CommuniTEA packet. I brew black teas at 200F to help lower any astringent tastes. This time I changed the rest of my normal steeping process to help make me like this one. I lowered the steep time to 2.5 mins and added 1/4 tsp of sugar to tone down the cherry flavors. Well, all this consternation worked and made everybody play nice in making this enjoyable drink. And NO, it didn’t taste like cough drops! Sheesh, too much thinking going on this morning ... I thought my brain was gonna’ “splode!” It was fun, though. (2.5 mins @ 200F, 1/4 tsp sugar)

I have been able to try this not only as part of my communiTEA sample, but with a larger promo sample so I can speak to consistency. Noting upfront that I like roses in tea and do not tend to find cherry medicinal, I enjoyed this cup. It’s nice and fruit forward. You know what this tea is trying to represent. The rose mellows everything to together. And adding a half a scoop of chocolate tea just gives you a guilt free dessert!

8/11/21 Update: The brewed cup has a nice cherry aroma, but I taste more blackberry than cherry! Tea is astringent, but not bitter. A little rose flavor comes through and is nice.
Very nice floral and fruity aroma from this tea. The cherry flavor is very nice and lush without being overpowering. A lovely rose aroma comes out. The black tea is best brewed at a slightly lower temperature to stave off bitterness. It's quite astringent, but leaves a clean taste.

I was wary about this tea. I tend to not like cherry flavored things, but I like this one pretty well. I opted to cold brew and the cherry flavor was present without being overwhelming. The tea was smooth and not bitter.

This was generally good, but perhaps a bit on the tart side for me. A little sweetener could help balance that out. I believe Adagio recently tweaked their blend though, and I probably had the older one, not the newest one.

It's got a pretty good cherry flavor so long as you stick to a 3-minute steep. Not really picking up on the blackberry, but that might be just because it's another fruity flavor. Smells a *little* bit medicinal, but not the off-putting scent I've seen other people complaining about.

Of course I purchased a sample of this right before the name was changed from 'cherry' to 'black cherry', so this review may not apply to the newer updated flavor that is about to come. But as far as the cherry tea is concerned, it wasn't my favorite. Maybe that's why it's being changed. It tasted a bit like cherry cough medicine to me, as the black tea gives a slight bitter taste like in medicine. The cherry flavor itself is fine, it tastes just like dewy cherry herbal tea's cherry flavor, which I happen to like. But I can't say that I enjoyed the taste of this black tea. Hopefully the new black cherry flavor will be better!

I can't taste cherry at all. The aroma is nice but it tastes like straight black tea with no fruit. This is the first Adagio tea that I was disappointed with.

This tea has a sweet black cherry candy aroma, with some floral notes from the rose petals. For me it does lean a little toward a cough syrup flavor, with the rose adding some perfume/soapiness. The cherry is there in the background but I think it is overpowered by the rose. I also don't really get a lot of taste from the tea, but it gets bitter very quickly if oversteeped. I found that cooler temperatures and shorter steep times were necessary. Was alright with some sugar to bring out more of the cherry flavor, but for my preferences I think I would have liked it more without the rose.

I must admit I do not like the flavor of this tea by itself. It tastes very strongly of cherry and has almost a cough syrup taste. However, when combined with Almond Oolong it was fantastic! I would definitely buy this again to make a blend but I don't think I will be drinking it on it's own.

I sampled this and the cherry green tea, and this tea had a much weaker cherry flavor. I steeped it for a much longer time, but the cherry flavor was still pretty mild.
