Black Cherry Customer Reviews

Black tea with the playful tanginess of rose hips, and the deep cherry sweetness is kept in balance with a touch of juicy, grounding blackberry. Iced, it is refreshing and delightful. Served hot, with a splash of cream, it is decadent and dreamy.

I cold brewed this one and thought it was really good. The rose flavor is mild but noticeable.

I need more! I love rose, cherry, and black tea, and they come together in this blend very nicely. I can see why many people would be put off by this combination, but for me, it's perfect. The cherry does have a bit of a sour note, but I always add sugar, so it balances out. 3 mins @ 195°F

Sampled in the CommuniTEA. Fragrant cherry aroma when packet opened. No rose petals noted. Steeped at 195F x 2 minutes. No sweetener or cream added. When hot, the rosehips add a tangy flavor that reminds me of sour cherries. The black cherry flavor becomes more pronounced as the tea cools.

I first tried this brewed hot with agave. It was ok, as artificial cherry flavor isn’t my favorite. I enjoyed this more after adding a splash of vanilla creamer.

I am usually not a fan of flavored black tea but this was amazing. I love the incorporation of rose (rose tea is my jam). Yum!

UPDATE 7-16-22: Today's CommuniTEA is Black Cherry. Upon opening the packet, I had a good amount of everything - tea, cherry bits, and rose petals. I made it hot with Tupelo Honey and it was amazing! I have had this tea quite a few times before and I found these combinations to be fantastic:

Strawberry, Mango, Orange Peels, Rose Hips, Rose Petals, Butterfly Pea Flowers, Dandelion, Hibiscus, and Garden Herbal Honey

Cocoa Nibs and Chocolate Honey

and Lemon Balm and Black Tea Honey

I would highly recommend this tea!

ORIGINAL: This Black Cherry tea is amazing - alone or even with pantry items! I microwaved my water for 3 minutes so it was scalding and added a whole slew of pantry items - Butterfly Pea Flower, Dandelion Root, Hibiscus, Mango, Orange Peels, Rose Hips, Rose Petals, Valerian, and Garden Herbal Honey. It was a punch of flavor with every sip!! I would highly recommend this tea!!!

I saw a few cherry pieces and rose petals in my packet, but not as much as I thought. There was a very strong cherry smell, though, which persisted after it was brewed. The taste is mostly very tart cherry, with less of a medicinal quality than other cherry teas I’ve tried. Still, not very pleasant and I didn’t even finish the whole cup. Honey made it slightly better, but still too tart for my taste.

UPDATED from 8/11/21: This is a very sour cherry tea that I have sampled for three years. The aroma of the CommuniTEA packet is cherry and roses - so that is a change! This steeps (at a much lower temp and time) into an orange amber liquid. The smell of a rose is strong in my nose, but the taste on my tongue is all cherry. This is too bitter for my taste, adding ¼ teaspoon of sweetener and heavy whipping cream helps to reduce the bitterness and allow the cherry flavor to come through. It has a nice, clean finish. This would be lovely with a meal, but by itself it is not for me. This is a good tea for someone crazy about all things cherry! (2 mins @ 200ºF + sweetener and cream).

This is definitely the best cherry tea I've sampled from adagio! While the flavor is not quite 100% fresh cherries, this one does not have that overwhelming fake cherry or medicinal taste. It reminds me a little of sour cherries!

The cherry flavor was subtle, too subtle. What I noticed most was the aroma and taste of roses even though there weren’t many rose petals in my packet. The flavor of this tea might have been ok if it was labeled as rose tea. But as a cherry tea this was disappointing.

Not my favorite. But of a medicinal taste. The rose was tasty though

I found this tea to have a subtle cherry taste that was pleasant. I have no problem with other cherry teas that taste medicinal because I loved cherry cough drops as a child! I agree with other reviewers that it would be good to try this without the rose petals. I steeped at 190 degrees for 3 minutes.

I'm a fan of cherry, but the cherry flavor was a little more sour than I expected

A sweet, aromatic and fruity tea. The black tea baise is in the forefront of this tea's flavor profile, with the sweet, juicy, charry flavor just underneath. My only complaint is that there is a very faint artificial aftertaste that reminds me a little of cough syrup, but it's barly noticeable and over all this tea is quite plesant.

My cup was a little bitter and I’m not completely fond of the cherry flavor.

I love cherries, but I am not a fan of cherry flavored things. The black tea base is very smooth and mellow, but there really isn't much cherry flavor to this. I did detect a medicinal cherry scent when I opened my CommuniTEA packet, but fortunately it didn't taste that way. This combination is ok, but not for me.

Updated 7/16/22 - I actually liked it this time and brewed a second cup! The cherry seems less medicinal in today's CommuniTEA packet than it usually is.

CommuniTEA - I was surprised to like this one. I didn’t taste any rose. Would try again.

A wonderful and flavorful cherry tea. Took a chance and brewed this one hot at 212*F for a shorter time of 2:30 minutes. No bitterness was detected and the astringency seemed to be just right and pleasant in the Ceylon teabase. The luscious cherry flavor aided by some blackberry for depth of flavor, a nicely balanced tart from the rose hips and a softness from the rose petals that wasn’t overwhelmingly floral made this cherry flavor delightful. A resteep was very tasty too and it chilled well to make a terrific iced tea.

My CT packet had 3 g/ 2 tsp of cherry scented tea with all ingredients. Steeped 12 oz. at 212*F and decided the medium brown color was perfect around 2:30 minutes. An agave add brightened the flavors and teased out more of the cherry taste. The black tea base seemed to compliment the bright cherry/blackberry flavor well with careful brewing. This tea was a hit today. Was in the mood for a luscious berry flavor.

Fruity and pleasant, with mild floral hints. Had worried the rose would be overpowering after reading some of the reverie reviews, but wasn’t the case with my cup. Cherry flavor was present and dominating. Refreshing without being tart, and without the medicinal taste that so many cherry flavors are prone to. Nicely blended.

Nice cherry aroma upon opening my packet. I noticed the rose petals in the tea leaves but no cherries 😞. When hot the cherry flavor was rather week so I added sugar and that helped. The flavor increased as it cooled. I wish there was more cherries but maybe that was just my packet.

The flavoring here is rather overpowering and doesn't feel all that natural; however, it's just the thing for those times you're craving a strong berry black tea - and the cherry is just tart enough to give add a special layer to the taste for that rare occasion!

Purchased for someone else at their request and they seem to like it.

I found this blend to be a little too much for my own personal tastes; it has a nice cherry smell in the bag but the taste was a little too strong for me.

★★★☆☆

Picked out the rose petals and the rose hips leaving a mild cherry flavor.

The smell is fantabulous in how overwhelmingly cherry it is, though the tea itself can become a little much over time for the same reason. Probably a better potpourri than a tea.

This tea is incredibly flavorful and bright! I like to mix it with a little of the vanilla black tea for a more full flavor profile

I oversteeped it. Very cherry forward, black tea flavor a distant second. I can see how this could be a good tea. Milk mellows it out some, and tastes not so oversteeped.

Black cherry is made of black tea, rose hips, cherries, rose petals, and wild cherry blackberry flavors. This isn't among my favorites as a solo hot tea, but I've had it in blends that I liked. On it's own, I found it a little astringent and the cherry was a little too strong, sort of like a cough drop. I might enjoy more as a cold brew, which would help with both of those problems. 9.5 grams in 32 ounces of 200-degree water for just less than three minutes.

Very good but I think it is missing the complexity of the sage the other cherry tea on adagio has. Very good though with honey.

I'm glad I ordered this in small quantity, because at first I loved it, then felt a little overwhelmed by the cherry. Makes me want to try the Cherry marzipan oolong because I do tend to be more critical of black teas

The dry tea is somewhere between a cherry candy and an air freshener. It smells good, but also a bit chemicaly. The liquor is a medium brown with a faintly flowery earthy scent. The cup is minerally and dry with that same cherry air freshener taste that I smelled in the tea. It doesn't taste awful, but the cherry flavor tastes very artificial and sour. A bit of milk toned down the sourness and left it pleasantly sweet, but also lacking a lot of the subtle undertones of the black tea base. Overall, I'm unimpressed by this tea. It might be worth trying a sampler if you really like fruity teas, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Admittedly, I tried this a few months ago (probably Oct./Nov. 2021), so I'm working from memory a bit. Strong but not overpowering cherry flavor, with hints of rose. I usually drink my tea straight, but I imagine this would be nice with a bit of milk or cream. I quite like cherry flavor in things, but I can see how this tea wouldn't be for everyone. I probably won't have much of this on hand in the future, but it would be a nice to have on the occasional afternoon when I would want to sip on something a little more like a dessert.

Much, much too sweet, to the point of being cloying. I can tell that there's a flavor lurking under there that I'd enjoy, but it's buried under all the sweet.
