Black Cherry Customer Reviews

Black tea with the playful tanginess of rose hips, and the deep cherry sweetness is kept in balance with a touch of juicy, grounding blackberry. Iced, it is refreshing and delightful. Served hot, with a splash of cream, it is decadent and dreamy.

Out of the packet, it smelled like cherry cough syrup (not awesome). But after brewing, it was amazing. The cherry flavors sweet but not overly so. A versatile tea that would be a great blended with other teas (like chocolate, cream, vanilla, etc.)

After reading reviews that weren’t favorable to this as a hot tea,I brewed this tea and drank it hot. I really enjoyed the subtle notes of cherry fruitiness.I was smooth and light. I will try a cold brew next which seemed to get very favorable reviews..update to follow

Rich and fruity, incredible if you have biscotti or cookies. This is a flavored tea that has excellent flavor even without sweetening

★★★★★

I absolutely love this tea. The cherry smell is strong, but the taste does not come through quite as strong. It’s really just right.

I have been looking for a cherry tea and I have been so disappointed in so many, but this is awesome!!! I love my peach tea, but this black cherry is the first tea to make me doubt my favorite. Tastes great with or without sweetener, though I love honey with it, just a smidge. Takes great with or without cream as well. I can't wait to try it iced, but it is still too cold.

Smells amazing and taste like a tart cherry cordial

I couldn't even take more than a single sip of this. The only words I have to describe the taste I got was soap.

Great hot or cold. Perfect for fruity lovers out there. I am not a fan of cherry, but know those who are that I buy this tea for.

★★★☆☆

Has subtle cherry flavor, but can seem a bit artificial. Mixed well with a fruit herbal tea. It is a good black tea, the cherry just wasn't quite what I wanted.

Cherry flavor comes through nicely. A pleasant cup of tea, though wish it were the tea was a bit more robust.

The black cherry taste reminds me of the overly sweet maraschino cherries from a sundae. The black tea is fine, but I just don’t like the overall taste of this one. Reminds me a bit of a cough drop.

This is an aromatic treat: it smells wonderful. Upon brewing, the smell and subsequent flavor are not as strong as the initial bouquet, but it is still quite good. It's a firm black tea without being bitter or overpowering, and the cherry is delightful.

This tea isn't bad, but it really has too much to Black Cherry. I usually add a bit of one of one of my other teas to ease up some of the black cherry.

This tea is good, but has less cherry notes than expected, and has more of a floral taste to me.

Wonderful cherry flavor, slightly bitter from the black tea but it blends so well with the bite of the cherry, my favorite right now, highly recommended

Whenever it’s mentioned to have a dry finish. They mean it! It’s a little goes a long way kind of blend. I do enjoy it though in a green tea blend

★☆☆☆☆

It should be called rose tea not black cherry. It smells like roses and tastes like roses with a hint of cherry in the middle but leaves an after taste of roses. Not a fan!

I'm sorry. I really didn't like this tea...smelled like an old cough medicine that I took as a child.

Sort of like a black forest cake, in that you get the dark, deep, black tea, and then the strong cherry flavor makes you go 'mmmm'!

★★★★☆

strong cherry flavor, so do not steep for more than 4 minutes.
I absolutely love cherry flavored teas; this one is very good although not the best I have tried, probably a little too flavor-y to get full 5 stars. I read about medicinal taste, but I cannot attest to that.

I don't really care for the cherry flavour in it. The tea smells super medicinal opening the pouch. I'll drink the rest of the sample I bought. It's not like it's terrible, just not something I'll get again.

★★★★★

Juicy and delicious! I enjoyed this hot with my breakfast.

★★★★☆

This is a delicious cherry tea that is not too sweet like some other cherry-flavored teas.

★★★☆☆

This tea was just ok I have other teas from Adagio that I like better

★☆☆☆☆

It is a mouthful of rose. Agagio Teas --> PLEASE either change the name of this tea so that it reflects the actual flavor or, better yet, make a tea that tastes like black cherry.

I was initially somewhat off-put upon opening the container, because the fragrance of this tea is very strong and reminiscent of cough syrup. However! The actual taste of the tea is very good, so don't let the smell intimidate you!

★★★☆☆

Very strong black tea so the cherry did not have much of a chance to shine.

★★★☆☆

Flavorful but can turn bitter very quickly if over steeped. Good quality just not my ideal flavor profile

Very good tea light and fruity. Not fake cherry like most drinks. Throughly enjoyed.

This was a solid cup of tea. The flavor wasn't overwhelming and when I added a packet of Splenda it really brought out the cherry

★★★★★

Nice flavor and it really tastes great iced. I will order again.

★★★☆☆

I tried this as a discounted sample and ended up not really liking it at all. The black cherry flavor was too overpowering and tasted almost medicinal.

★★★★★

Cherry is definitely my favorite flavor, so it was no surprise that I LOVED this tea <3 Such a nice cherry flavor without being overpowering!

Heavy black tea flavor with a nice cherry taste. Did not notice the cough syrup like taste many are describing in their reviews, just light cherry notes. I brewed it hot with 4 rock sugar cubes and it was very smooth. Not very floral and no rose was present in my sample but I did get the faintest taste of rosehip.

I enjoyed this tea - the cherry profile was moderate and tart, but not cough-syrupy. It was nice enough hot, but I think it would be good as an iced tea.

Don’t love this one. The black cherry tastes artificial to me.

CommuniTEA portion: Granted I cold steeped this and it froze in the hotel room so my review might be skewed? I could taste cherry. I'm not really a cherry fan if it's not a cherry straight off the tree. But it was enjoyable.

Nope. Still a miss for me. Strong rose scent as I opened the packet. I don't like rose in tea...so carefully picked out the petals before brewing. No cherry pieces in my packet but I wasn't too upset as not every sample will end up with a sizeable cherry piece. Unfortunately, not much cherry taste to this -- mostly strong rose aroma and taste. Slightly calmed down from the really strong perfume-y taste of the original version but still way too floral for me. And no cherry taste at all from my sample pack. Waiting reviews from other CommuniTea peeps to see if my packet was just off. Those who love rose/floral teas will like this one! Just not my cup of tea at all.
7/16/2022 - liked this a bit better this time, but I did remove the rose petals and added just a bit of dewy cherry to cover the artificial cherry taste. It made it drinkable, but still not one of my favorites.

I just couldn't really get past the artificial, cough syrup-ey taste. Agave didn't help to downplay it, nor did a second steep. Maybe just not for my tastebuds, unfortunately.

Rose aroma with undertones of cherry. Dominate flavor was the rose, the cherry pulling through more as it cooled. Sweetened to enhance flavors. Overall, decent if you like the flavor combo

Update 7/16/22 I cold brewed this and enjoyed it iced. It was more enjoyable as an iced tea. I find that most cherry teas are best cold. I upgraded a star from last review.
I know this is a new and improved version of black cherry tea. I don't believe that I ever tried the old tea. Cherry is my least favorite artificial flavor. The smell from the packet was fruity and not as artificial as I expected. I brewed at 200 for 3 minutes. Not much cherry flavor. Second steep was chilled and tasted like cherry. This tea wasn't bad, just not a flavor I prefer. I did get a free sample of this in my last order. I am going to try blending this with chocolate as others has recommended.

I'm afraid this isn't it for me. I love the smell on this blend -both the leaves and the brewed product smell delightful- but even with a healthy dose of sugar added to the mix, the flavour is more bitter than anything else.

Rose and cherries, with some milk and sugar this tea is a dream come true for me.

2022-07-16 CommuniTEA Update: 2 stars / 'bad'

This year it sounds like the Black Cherry tea has gotten an update to its formulation. So, I braced my tastebuds for another try of this tea.

At first sniff, the packet released its pungent medicinal cherry scent again... not a good first sign. A carefully abbreviated 3 minute steep at 212°F produced a mellow orange-brown tea.

The steaming cup still had the foreboding artificial cherry aroma, giving me the impression that this might still be too similar to last year's blend. The first sip was... OK. I could tell the cherry was still there, although somehow swept under the rug of a more powerful blackberry flavor. After a few sips, it became clear how imperative the three minute steep was towards keeping the bitterness and medicinal cherry flavor at bay ... Stay back ye foul odorous fiend! Without such caution, it would certainly be too bitter and medicinal for consumption.

Alas, the blackberry and tamed-down black tea base did little to remedy the fetid blast of artificial cherry scent and flavor. I'd much rather prefer to drink the plain blackberry flavored black tea without the addition of aforementioned cherry. There's just something a bit too medicinal and toe-curling about the unnatural and unholy faux-cherry flavor.

Note that this is coming from someone who does enjoy a good Manhattan, complete with Luxardo or brandied cherry. Sometimes, I even like certain types of Cherry Heering Liqueur. Of course, this does not mean that I enjoy the bleached & artificially dyed type of maraschino cherry, which to me, is similar to a form of agglomerated mass formed out of pigswill curds and refuse. I even have been known on occasion to swig down a shot of plain Montmorency tart cherry juice as a nightcap to benefit from the built-in phytomelatonin and anthocyanins. Yet there is something still so unpleasant and shudder-inducing about the artificial cherry flavor used in jolly ranchers, cough medicine, and even this tea. Perhaps it's based on synthetic esters, which are said to have been byproducts of the coal industry. Perhaps I may have some kind of PTSD from being forced to choke down artificial cherry cough syrup while having a particularly bad illness as a child. Whatever the case, that fake cherry flavor impostor can't fool my tastebuds or sense of smell. It sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl.

2021-08-11 CommuniTEA Review: 1 star / 'awful'

A pungent medicinal cherry scent emanated from today's packet. Already dreading the strength of this artificial cherry flavor, I decided to steep for 3 minutes at 212°F which was the lower end of the recommended steep time range. A medium brown tea was produced that still smelled of the artificial cherry flavoring.

The first sip was bitter and full of the medicinal cherry flavor. After a few sips, the bitterness and astringency built up to the point where it affected the flavor of lunch. So much so that I dumped the rest out. I'm not a huge fan of the artificial cherry flavor that Adagio uses, and this tea really pushed things over the edge of palatability for me. 🤢

This is a nice enough cup of tea. However, I’m not a big fan of cherry in my tea. As far as Cherry goes, it was a well-done flavor and didn’t taste artificial at all. I brewed it at 200 for 3 minutes. I think it is definitely worth it for you to try!

My CommuniTEA portion had rose petals and no cherries. This was one of the few times i was able to taste cherry more than smell it, but didn't happen until I added honey. Not one I will order unless I am experimenting with a blend.
