A staple flavor in our house. We brew it by the gallon and drink it as cold tea.
Ceylon black tea with a touch of almond. Plush mouthfeel, creamy marzipan notes, nutty sweet, balanced astringency.

A staple flavor in our house. We brew it by the gallon and drink it as cold tea.
UPDATE: So disappointed, Adagio has ruined the cherry tea which I previously would mix with almond. Added roses jezuz. I'll miss my special cherry/almond tea blend. Would not recommend mixing this perfectly lovely almond tea with that cr-p.
Nice marzipan aroma. Good on its own, but I love to mix this tea with (1) a teaspoon per pot of cherry tea (which is a bit much on its own), or ( ) 5 /5 almond and cream tea with teaspoon of cherry. Yum.
Lovely almond tea! very nice rich flavor that tastes very nice
Great dessert tea with very strong almond flavoring. Not what you want if you like subtle flavoring! @adagioteas
I didn’t get much almond flavor. If anything, it took some of the edge off the black tea.
Has a nice soft aroma and a warm flavor. It's a great tea for cold rainy days.
nutty and soft. this has a full flavor. i like the savory tones @adagioteas
A nice full bodied black tea with some mildness and subtle sweetness from almond. Great by itself or with any baked goods. A nice daily tea.
Very good almond taste, not too sweet. Drink this when I have a desire for something sweet, but don't want to have the calories.
I microwaved my water for 3 minutes, so it was about scalding temperature, and added some burdock and black tea honey. As the name suggests, the tea is almond-flavored, so it's a slightly nutty taste. The tea itself is very subtle and smooth. This will go well with almost any pantry item and any honey or rock sugar. I love this one and definitely recommend it!
Mild black tea flavor, plenty of almond flavor. I drank it black, but it would probably be really good with some flavored creamer.
This one is good to mix with caramel and vanilla black teas! I also like to make it a latte with almond milk.
Love this tea on its own and in blends, it tastes like a cup of marzipan!
I did get the almond flavor come through a bit more as it cooled. But definitely not one to brew at 212 since even at ~200 was rather bitter for me.
Subtle almond flavor enhances the Ceylon black quite nicely, especially if you’re like me and tend to brew your Ceylons around 190 to tamp down the astringency.
I love this tea. Very sweet with milk and boba. Try it cold or hot.
Lovely almond scent and flavor. Would give this one a 5 star except that the tea became.Increasingly bitter as it cooled even with lower temp brewing (195 for 3 minutes).
One thing CommuniTEA has cinched for me, is the knowledge I love nut flavored tea. This is no exception. Today something told me to try this tea with adagio’s black tea honey (I don’t usually use honey to sweeten tea) and I’m glad I did. It brought a deeper richness to the cup than my normal stevia would not have. At 195, for 3 minutes, this had little astringency, with the almond strongly to the front. Lovely cup!
Nice almond flavor, beautiful amber color liquor, mildly astringent. Not a bad cuppa, but Almond Oolong is much better to me personally. 190° for 1.5 minutes.
Being a fan of both almond and black tea, this was a win for me. Very enjoyable.
From the communiTEA sample packet, this tea smells wonderful. This is a nice black tea with hints of almond flavor.
I love almond flavors and marzipan, so this tea is very enjoyable.
Yum I loved this tea it reminded me of marzipan candy!!!
This review is impacted by personal taste preferences. I am not an almond fan, so that impacts how much I enjoyed this tea.
I followed the directions and steeped for 3 minutes. While the almond wasn't 'in your face' strong, I could still taste the flavor in the tea. Since I am not an almond fan, it was a little much for me.
However for those who enjoy almonds I believe that this tea would be a wonderful one to enjoy. It had a smooth nutty flavor and pleasant aroma when brewing.
Today's CommuniTea packet was almond, which is black tea with almond flavoring. I lowered the temp and cut the time, but it still seemed harsh. It's sort of like Starbucks coffee. If you add milk and sugar, their roast may well be perfect. But I don't, and it wasn't. C'est la vie. 12 ounces of 200 degree water for just over two and a half minutes.
I have had this tea in blends before, but not on its own. It does have a marzipan taste which isn't too overpowering. I did brew at a much lower temp 195 to avoid bitterness. This is good on its own but I prefer it in a blend.
I didn't get as much almond as regular black tea, maybe my sample was a weak batch, was expecting Marzipan flavor, instead I got tea flavor. Still good though!
Perfect afternoon tea, and I could really taste the delicious Almond. I used milk: 1 tsp sweetener: 212 temp: 3 min steep: 10 oz cup. Also, Great for blending in Fandom Blends.
UPDATE!!! New Review :
CommuniTEA Packet :
With the communitTEA Packet, I use another Tsp of Almond Black Loose, and it Perfect. I like my Flavored black teas strong. I can taste the Almond very well, it has a marzipan flavor to the tea. I used plenty of milk and sweetener (I like it sweet) 16 oz mug : Temp 212:
OLD REVIEW!!!: Nov,23rd 2008 :The almond black tea is a good tea but a bit weak on the almond flavor. It make a nice cup of tea for the morning or anytime.
A nice black tea with notes of almond. A little bitter as it cools, so I recommend trying to finish it while it's hot.
This is a very versatile tea. I love it in blends, and also enjoy it on its own. Yum!
This tea is ok, it has a strong/ bitter after taste to bitter for me (190 @ 3 min.)
The black tea has a nice smooth taste but I’m not a fan of the natural almond taste in it. When I opened the packet, it seemed overly strong. I steeped it for 3 minutes, then let it sit for 3 minutes to allow it to cool a bit. First sip was still a little too heavy on the almond, but as a bit more time went by, that flavor settled down and I enjoyed it more. It’s a good tea but it just isn’t my favorite. My Mum would have loved it, as she loved marzipan.
I'll preface this review by saying that I'm not a huge fan of almond flavor. This tea was decent, with both almond and black tea flavors present in my cup. If you like almond, you'll probably enjoy it. But if you don't, there's really nothing else in the tea to balance out the almond flavor.
Reviewed 1/12/21: I often find black tea to be bitter, so steeped the Almond at lower temp (195F) for only 2 minutes. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to keep the bitterness away. I added sweeteners (maple syrup, and then a raw sugar cube) to counter the bite, but that didn't help, either. And despite the tea packet smelling strongly of almond, the bitterness masked the almond flavor. For my second steep, I did a cold brew for a couple of hours, and then warmed the tea. No bitter taste, and even a hint of almond! So unless you like a strong tea, I recommend decreasing the water temperature significantly--or do a cold brew.
Edited 2/16/22: Enjoyed as CommuniTEa sample. Forgetting my first review, I steeped again at 195F x 2 min (2 grams per 8 oz water). This time, I did not get a bitter flavor and the almond came through, without adding any sweetener or milk. Resteeped well. Enjoyable tea.
2022-02-16 Update: The familiar almond scent greeted me as I opened the packet. After a 4 minute steep at 212°F, the tea was strong enough for my liking. Plenty of almond flavor accented the bold and brisk Ceylon tea. This time it didn't require any cream to tame it down. Still love this almond black tea blend!
2021-01-12 CommuniTEA Review:
Cracking open today's CommuniTEA packet released the scent of almond and Ceylon tea! The smell evoked an impression of toasty marzipan.
Steeping as a black tea for 5 minutes at 212ºF produced a pleasant woody dark brown liquor. Steeped with approximately 24oz of water to match the tablespoon of tea leaves in the packet. The scent of the steeped brew was similar yet with lighter almond traces. The flavor was a pungent yet smooth and brisk Ceylon tea mingled with hints of almond. The almond flavor was like an unsweetened marzipan or amaretto, usually sourced from apricot kernels. The Ceylon brought an aftertaste of bitter and mildly astringent tannins. Adding some half & half smoothed out the tannin follow-through, and brought the almond more forward in the mix. Adding rock sugar brought the flavor closer to a malty and mildly sweetened amaretto or orgeat.
While Ceylon blends can tend towards the brisk, and sometimes coarse or raw end of the spectrum, this one was very pleasant and balanced when brewed with the standard 1 tsp tea : 8 fl. oz water ratio. Adding cream or sweetener blended and smoothed the flavors out while bringing out the complexity of the almond flavor. Overall this is a very pleasant breakfast tea!
Sipping laong with the CommuniTEA:
1/12/21 Review: Knowing that there would be some astringent tannins from the ceylon black tea, I steeped this cup for 2 mins @ 190° F. The nose is strong with the promise of luscious black tea. When I take a sip I do get an almond flavoring taste followed by a somewhat bitter finish. This is a an interesting tea that occasionally offers an amaretto essence on the front and then ever few sips or so, I get a tiny bit of marzipan on the finish. For this almond lover, however, the bitterness of the ceylon tea outshines the almond flavoring.
2/16/22 Review: Based on my previous review, I steeped the contents for less than 2 mins at 190° F. This did the trick. Almond and marzipan flavors are pronounced, but astringent tannins are kept better in check.
The dried tea in the CommuniTea packet smelled like almond extract. I gave it a longer steep of 6 minutes at a little under boiling per other’s recommendations. I sipped it plain, with stevia, with vanilla soy milk, and with maple syrup. No matter what I did to this tea, I didn’t really care for it, the black tea flavor continued to be too prominent for my taste.
If you're into black tea you might really enjoy it, but this one was not my cup of tea.
An almond flavored tea that tastes good by itself or as a tea latte. It also liked it with sugar infused with ginger.
If I didn't already have so much tea at home I would be adding this one to the pile, it's so good. It's going on my list for later tho.
Very nice almond smell and flavor. This one is good alone, but I would also like to experiment with using it in a blend to create some new favorites.
I enjoyed this and it's a good strong black tea. The flavor is just right for me.
on its own its a little lacking, in my opinion. it does need a little help and with some sweetener and milk, i can definitely drink this as a coffee substitute
This tea has a very nice, almost marzipan-like flavor, that is made even better with the addition of a bit of cream
This nutty and smooth tea is great with a cube of sugar and a splash of milk. This seems like a good tea staple that should be in everyone’s collection!
The almond flavouring is strongly present, from dry leaf aroma all the way through to the flavour of the brew. The Black Ceylon tea is not at all bitter, although it does finish with a little astringency. The almond flavouring pairs nicely with the Ceylon. I liked it best with soymilk added.
It's a very pleasant tea and I really want to love it; but, it tastes entirely too much like marzipan for me to fully enjoy it. I know that's in the description and it was achieved perfectly. This tea just isn't for me.
Last time I tried this, I didn't like it so much... perhaps because I prematurely added milk and sugar! This time I tried it straight and I'm really enjoying it!
(Note: I'm reviewing as a former CT member, but thought I could employ some impeccable timing with this review.) I love the aroma and the nutty taste, but I didn't think it was sweet enough. I'm afraid to dump sugar in it thus ruining the tea. And please heed all warnings of oversteeping. It's like we can't tell you enough, but do enjoy!
This Almond tea is a beautifully balanced mixture of black tea and almond flavor. Perfect with some honey to bring out the flavors.
