CommuniTEA 3/26/22: I should know by now that I don't like decaf tea as much as full caffeine. It was OK, but disappointing.

This tea smells amazing! I wish the vanilla flavor was as strong in the brew as it is in the scent. When brewed, I mostly get a very nice tea flavor with no bitterness at all along with a faint vanilla that I get mostly as an aftertaste. I don't generally drink de-caf black teas, but I imagine this is really good in blends and for those watching their caffeine intake.

Nice blend. I actually like it better than the caffeine version and can taste the vanilla better.

Adagio's vanilla flavored teas always deliver for me, and this one was no exception. This would be a great tea to have on-hand in the evening!

My first impression when I opened the package was that the dry tea smells just like vanilla vake mix. The vanilla flavor was not as strong as the fragrance suggests but was definitely still present. Simply but smooth, no bitterness in my cup and adding a little sugar brings out more of the vanilla flavor.

CommuniTEA portion: I was blown away by this tea. I cold brewed it overnight for a mid-morning treat because I was embarking on a crazy day. The vanilla is just the perfect amount and tasted very pure. Just a smooth, awesome tea!

For a decaf tea this Ceylon Vanilla is rather nice. I normally do not select decaf teas but have to admit that I am enjoying this tea. I have added nothing except 195 degree water and found the cuppa to be satisfying. I found a hint of almond/cherry aroma and taste in my cuppa. I like that there are not a lot of elements to this tea, Ceylon tea is delightful and really does not need any additives to provide a pleasing cuppa. I would have given it the fifth star if it had not been a decaf — just a personal preference.

Sitting on my deck in the sun, on a comfy chair, enjoying my dog’s unbridled joy tossing a stick in the air and sipping my vanilla tea….ahhhh peaceful serenity😊

I prefer caffeinated but this tea is splendid. Lovely aroma and flavour

UPDATE from 6/29/21 There is a lovely smell of vanilla as the CommuniTea packet opens. It steeps at a lower temp (to avoid black tea bitterness) into a clear amber. Success - it is a lovely, sweet vanilla tea. Adding ¼ teaspoon sweetener (to 10 oz) really brings out the vanilla. Creamy and smooth tasting, this is good hot. The flavor is strong enough to hold up pouring over ice and still be yummy! Good for two steeps. ( 3 mins @ 200ºF + sweetener).

It's hard to believe this is a decaf tea. Very smooth and vanilla! This tea smelled like butterscotch to me before brewing, but has a definite, bold vanilla taste that melds perfectly with the Ceylon tea. Yum! I will need to buy more of this!

I added vanilla milk to this tea because I really could not taste the vanilla in this one.

It’s been very nice to see a few flavored decafs in CommuniTEA as of late, showcasing black teas treated through this particular decaffeination process. In my opinion as a fussy supertaster, it is indistinguishable from the norm but for some inexplicable added smoothness. This serves to highlight and round out the flavors that otherwise might have been too subtle, too sharp, or even hidden behind usual Ceylon. Still I recommend the water temperature should not exceed 200F in order to prevent any potential bitterness. The smell may be somewhat strong or cloying but the flavor is not artificial. I happen to already have some of this flavor in my stash, I am a big fan of vanilla, and this is actually my least favorite I’ve tried of the decafs offered by Adagio… and it’s still pretty darn good!

I think I needed to steep this one longer. I only steeped for 3 minutes and a lot of the reviews were steeping 4 minutes. I didn’t think it had enough of a vanilla flavor. I also used 212*F water. I think I need to try this one again and do a better job making the tea. I was too distracted this morning.

A little sugar made this a delicious evening treat! I was surprised how much I liked it. Vanilla seemed like it would be a little boring, but this was actually a really nice flavor!

Good, very neutral in its flavor without anything special.

I enjoyed this decaf black tea with a nice vanilla flavor. I added about a half teaspoon of raw honey after brewing and it brought out the vanilla flavor very nicely. I later brewed it at a lower temperature for a better result and a fifth star.

I love Adagio's vanilla tea, and this is a great one to wind down in the evening. I was worried I wouldn't like the decaf tea because I really don't like the flavor change from decaf coffee, but this one maintained its flavor and continues to be delicious without keeping me up at night.

Smells like a frosted cupcake when you first open it and I was really worried it would be overly sweet. The vanilla mellows out and becomes a nice flavor to meld with the black tea.

This is a great decaf black tea option that is smooth and has a great vanilla flavor. I bought this to use in my blends, but would be good to use as a stand alone if you like the flavor of vanilla bean.

A fine basic tea. Neither the tea nor the vanilla flavor are very strong, so I brew it almost double-strength, and add a few minutes to the steep time.

★★★★★

This was just excellent - I found the the sweetness just right, and was glad for the decaf in the afternoon. I'd buy again!

★★★★★

Delightful! I love the caffeinated vanilla tea and this is just as tasty. @adagioteas

★★★★★

This tea is pretty straightforward! I wouldn't call it the most complex, layered cup of tea in the world. But I don't think it's trying to be that.

★★★★★

Delicious aroma while brewing. Smooth taste. No real discernible difference from the regular vanilla.

★★★★★

I have gotten off caffeine so I have been looking for teas to fill the gap. This is def one of them. It goes well mixed with the honey bush banana nut

It's okay, just a pleasant, non-astringent black tea. No vanilla flavor detected.
