Decaf versions of normally-caffeinated teas often have a distorted flavor, but this tea tastes great.

I think this tea has a very full-bodied taste. Very good!

This tea is washed out and very weak. It doesn't taste like tea.

★★★★☆

I like this with a touch of honey at night when I through with caffeine for the day.

Superglad I like this because I accidentally ordered 2 sample packs :) I don't have enough decaf tea in my arsenal so this will do nicely! Nice dark tea to finish out my day makes me happy. I also like to drink A LOT of tea while I'm fasting so I am looking forward to this tea most days

I like a rich, malty black tea with milk and sugar in the morning, however I'm also pretty sensitive to caffeine. I love this tea because it doesn't skimp on the flavor of a bold black tea but it also contains only trace caffeine! This makes it a great evening/after-dinner tea, as well. Great decaf black teas are so hard to find in our caffeine-obsessed world, so if you've been on the hunt as long as I have, this one is a real game-changer!

I love a Ceylon tea, and this is one of my faves. A great tea for when you want a strong cup of black tea, but want to avoid additional caffeine - it's my before bed tea most evenings. I drink this with sugar, no milk.

★★★★☆

Not quite as good as regular but it’s a willing sacrifice I make for a bedtime cup of black tea after a long nursing shift. I add a splash of half and half and a few rock sugar crystals.

This is exactly the night time I was looking for! It has the perfect Ceylon taste, but without the caffeine!

Mild malt flavor without the bitterness of caffeine.

Good, black tea and decaf when I need it during pregnancy but want something other than fruity herbal teas.

The closest thing to an english breakfast that is decaf.

★★★★★

love this tea - and its decaf!!! - great tea to drink when curled up with a book or watching tv on a cold night - makes great sun tea as well - smooth taste, not bitter at all

★★★★☆

I like Adagio's Ceylon black tea, but to me it isn't anything special. It's just a nice, basic black tea that isn't too bitter or too astringent. I personally also prefer my black tea to have caffeine, so the fact that my CommuniTEA sample for today was decaffeinated was a meh from me. That said, even with the caffeine gone, it did taste like a nice, basic black tea.

Made a great iced tea on a hot evening. :) Was tasty as a hot tea as well.

Never tried a decaf tea before, and honestly couldn't really tell the difference flavor wise. Just tasted like a simple black tea

Wonderful malty black tea. The fact that it’s decaf makes it a good option for nighttime enjoyment.

Today's CommuniTea blend is decaf Ceylon. It brewed to an expected reddish brown, and tastes like black tea, only a bit duller. I don't have a lot of experience with decaf tea, so I'm not sure if the dullness that I'm tasting is due to the tea itself, the decaffeination process or my doing something wrong during brewing. I was sent an extra packet of this tea, and my latest order includes some Ceylon sonata. When it arrives, I'd like to try the teas together, comparing them to get a better handle on what decaffeination does or doesn't do to the tea. (Brewed in 12 ounces of 205 F water for four minutes)

There really nothing special about this tea. It reminds me of Lipton brand tea but without the caffeine.

I had gotten to the point where I dreaded Ceylon, it always seemed bitter no matter how I brewed it lately. This was such a wonderful surprise for me. No bitterness at all and just a touch of astringency. Fresh aroma, beautiful amber color, rich yet lightly malty flavor, what’s not to like. I love having a good decaf option for when I’m craving black tea taste.

All the joyful taste of a Ceylon tea without the caffeine. I just finished the cup, and I’m still yawning and ready to go to bed.

Warm, classic, and malty Ceylon! Less astringent and strong than the caffeinated version, but has a nice and rich black tea flavor. Would be amazing as a milk tea with some sugar. You can’t go wrong with this one!

A straightforward black tea that can be enjoyed any time since it contains no caffeine. I steeped 2grams per 8 oz at 190°F x 2 minutes and added a bit of sweetener. Smooth, rich, and malty, with no bitterness. Would be good as the backdrop for other flavors. Good hot or iced.

A delicious and classic black tea. The maltiness of this black tea is so comforting and I brew this at 200 degrees, 3min. to avoid any astringency.

Decaf tea sometimes tastes especially bitter to me, but this is still as fantastic with cream and sugar as any other black tea!

This decaf Ceylon is rich, full-bodied, and smooth. I relished its simplicity. It was quite a pleasant cup of tea even without the caffeine. In fact, the lack thereof is probably in its favor. It's good to have a solid decaf option.

A solid black decaf tea. The tea didn't lose too much flavor in the decaffeination process and it would be hard to tell if you didn't know

Straightforward black tea. Good an' malty. A great low-caff alternative.

Solid black tea that reminds me of the tea that lived in the refrigerator all through my childhood. It tastes just like its fully caffeinated counterpart, so if you need/want a good black tea with trace caffeine, this fits the bill perfectly. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 3 min @ 200F)

I love Ceylon, except for the caffeine, which limits how much I drink. THIS one, is a treasure for giving me the placebo of a black tea, all day long!!

I steeped my CommuniTEA packet for a bit over 3 minutes with water a bit below boiling. I liked it a lot more than Ceylon Sonata which was overall meh with a bit of a bitter-ish funky taste. This decaf is a delightful earthy black tea with no bitterness until it's nearly room temperature. I would totally get a small bag of it to have around, it's one of the better plain black teas I've tried.

Really enjoyed this tea, had no idea it was decaf. Very smooth light black tea. Seems like it would be an excellent base to make a blend with.

Nice flavor. Pretty classic black tea. I wouldn’t have known it was decaf. I bet it would make a fantasy iced tea!

This is a great tea plain or with cream and sugar. Very smooth and enjoyable. It's a bonus that it's decaf.

If you don't really know anything about tea, and you just think of the general concept of tea, this is the smell that comes to mind.

But not quite the taste. And that's a good thing.

There isn't near the bitterness that one might think of when generically thinking of tea (usually generic tea bag dust). This however, has a slight bitterness that is sated by a gentle earthiness. No flavor too bold or abrasive, I found this quite pleasant.

4 Stars - I may not stock this as there's other I just enjoy more, this was very pleasant and I would never turn it down.

Yummy black tea flavor. When I first looked into the cup, it was almost like I was staring into the v̵̬̠̲̩̜̖͓̍ŏ̷̮̣̗ͯi̿ͩ̾̆͏̠͈̬̠̩̫ͅd̴̩̩̪̝̱̩̬̟͑, so I added 3 cups of milk to my 1 cup of tea and it was much more palatable. I recommend you all try this ratio!

I would not have guessed this tea was decaf if you didn't tell me. It has the classic Ceylon flavor and the flavor does not suffer at all from the decaffeination process. I also love knowing that it is not chemically decaffeinated but instead uses a more natural process. Medium body, full-flavored, no bitterness. Good both hot and cold. It's a good base for adding other flavors as well. I'm excited to find a decaf black tea that I actagain

This is pretty basic black tea. It had what seemed almost like a hint of lemon. Also, I did like that it was a decaf option, I’m not caffeine sensitive, but it’s still good to have something for friends who are when it’s later.

★★★☆☆

Very mild tea. Not enough flavor to me, but it's very smooth without bitterness or astringency.

I have a sensitivity to caffeine and I try my best to limit it and mostly just avoid it altogether. So, with that in mind here is my story review: I steeped this last night, without knowing what I was steeping (CommuniTEA). I did know that it was a black tea which led me to believe that it was going to be high in caffeine. I had planned to put it in the refrigerator for the night to cool after I steeped it at the temperature in the instructions. I knew I was making it for someone else in my family to enjoy today. I do this with almost all of the Black teas from The CommuniTEA packets, because of the high-caffeine. Well, as I opened the bag I smelled a very soft honey scent and while steeping I picked up on some citrus and maybe even very soft notes of spearmint. That is when my curiosity hit. I was so interested in the aroma that I sipped a little at first and then I sipped more. It was so delicious! By the time I realized it, I had sipped way too much and thought for sure I would be paying for all the caffeine later. However, I wasn't at all bothered by this Black Tea AT ALL and thought that was very strange. Until... Today when Adagio posted the daily CommuniTEA and I realized why. DECAF!! It was so delicious and since it was Decaf I ended up keeping my steep for myself and drank the rest iced today. Black tea is usually bitter to me and I am happy to give it away. Not this time! It is still a mystery to me though, it seems like I did taste some very faint spearmint or honey-like flavors, very faint, but they were there. I am not sure if that was just me or maybe my steeper had some leftover spearmint tea in it from the previous steep. I do know that I picked up on a sweet honey scent from the dry leaves for sure. This tea was wonderful hot and iced so I do plan to order more of this soon to have on hand and to see if I taste any spearmint in the larger bag. I have a large bag of spearmint on hand to add into the steep just in case it was all in my head! I love the spearmint tones I was picking up, whether it be from this tea or not It was wonderful! I am excited to find a Decaf Black tea that is enjoyable!

212 degrees for 3 minutes, though the packet recommends 3 — 5 minutes. Smooth and malty, and does not lose any taste for being decaf.

Sometimes you just want a cup of plain black tea after dinner. This is that tea.

I drink Ceylon all the time, as it is the base of most of Adagio's flavored teas! No complaints at all - it's a solid black tea. I do like Assam and Darjeeling better though, so I'd choose those if I was having a black tea all by itself.

I love a good cup of solid black tea and sometimes a decaf version is needed. Decaf ceylon is a go-to, comforting black tea that is perfect plain or with a little honey. This is a staple.

Please keep in mind when I want decaf I usually drink herbal teas so I have not had a lot of decaf black teas to compare this to. I would not know this was a decaf tea if not told. Wonderful smells and flavors are abundant in my cup. I brewed at 200° and steeped for 4 mins. No bitterness was detected while sipping this tea warm. I did add a touch of honey since I like my black teas with a little sweetness. This tea is so versatile. Is great on its own, but would be good to blend with others or to make ice tea. This may be a new staple in my tea pantry.

A good solid black tea. I brewed my communitea packet with some rock sugar crystals and then chose to chill the tea. It’s refreshing and a tasty evening beverage when caffeinated tea might be too much.

If I want a decaf tea, my first choice is something fruity or herbal especially as decaf black teas are usually so disappointing. This tea was surprisingly nice for being decaffinated. If you like a simple black tea but can't have caffeine, rejoice and enjoy!
