White tea and chai?? Not a combo I would have ever thought about. Chai seems way to bold to be with a white tea. It was ok.

I love chai tea and this was no exception. It is a light and unique take on an old favorite.

This is an interesting twist on chai. It's not awful but not something I would highly recommend unless you love the spiciness of black pepper and cinnamon. I feel those overpower the tea due to white tea being so light. It's OK but if you want a delicious chai that is very evenly balanced in flavor with a twist ide recommend chocolate chai, it's one of my favorite teas. Also I took Jim's recommendation on steeping at a lower temperature and I'm glad I did, I think steeped at 212 it would have tasted like firey big red gum, the cinnamon is strong with this one.

Today's CommuniTea packet was white ayurvedic chai with white tea, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, lemon grass, coconut, cloves, cinnamon, black peppercorn, ginger and pineapple. When I opened the packet cinnamon and cardamon were what I noticed first. This was going well. As it was light in color and weight, I was careful not to add too much water. Brewed, it had an almost perfumed scent. I'm not sure if that was the pineapple or something else. It tasted like what it was, a light chai. Pleasant in your mouth, and leaving your lips and tongue a bit dry. (8 ounces of water at 190° for five minutes)

White tea and chai seem like oxymorons, but this tea strikes a good balance between the delicate white and the bold spice of chai. I steeped at 185F x 3 minutes, then sweetened with a bit of honey. A great springtime chai.

Burly in the packet, mild in the cup. I'm not getting any of the fruit flavors that should really make this tea special, and the spice is just too mild for a chai.

I like it, but will probably not buy it. I will stick to the original chai blends and not waste white tea like this. Some if the flavors were not present at all and others were quite overpowering.

Super mellow chai for me, but I think I used more water than I should have. To be honest, it smelled like spicy cinnamon bread in the packet, which was amazing! But once steeped, it really only tasted like tea with a splash of cinnamon and pepper. I think I must have not prepared this correctly, so not going to take off too many stars for that. It still tasted alright, just not very strong!

Part of the April 2021 CommuniTEA Box. I can discern the chai influences, it just has a rather zingy taste in comparison to a regular chai.

Chai flavors vastly overpowered anything else. Granted, I like chai a lot, but I didn't have a whiff of pineapple or coconut.

This tea smelled absolutely lovely when I opened it. I love the flavors in chai, so I was very excited to taste this tea.

I generally don't understand tea blends with white tea that recommend the tea to be brewed at 212F as that temperature will certainly scald the tea. Why add white if you're going to boil it to death? I generally drop the temp to 180-190F and steep longer. Today, I decided to take a risk and steep at 200F. After the five minutes, I felt like the spice flavor was too weak, so I put my strainer back in for another 2minutes.

After 7 minutes, the flavor of spice was more prominent, but the tea became a little more bitter than I prefer, so I added a dollop of honey. Overall, I found the tea a little mediocre. It's not bad, but there are certainly better chais out there. There's really nothing that makes it stand out.

I may be an outlier when I say I enjoy cinnamon forward chais and this one was definitely a contender for my favorite. However, I tasted no coconut whatsoever despite finding some in the packet. I had to check again that coconut was even supposed to be in there! Overall, it was a good tea but some elements didn't show up to the party.

I didn't notice any of the fruit flavors or much of the coconut in this one. I don't think I saw any pineapple in my packet. It had a lot of cinnamon and chai flavor but with white tea, I think it makes a much lighter chai. While it had zing, I still thought it was very mild. It was an enjoyable glass. I'd like to get a bigger packet so I can get more of the complex flavors.

This tea messed with my mind a little. I think of a white tea and a delicate, tea, to be served in dainty porcelain teacups, in a spring garden.
Whereas I think of a chai tea as a hearty, in a mug get you going out the door tea or a tea to be drinking next to a roaring fireplace on a wintry day.
What I found was a delicate light tea with bold flavors. I think this tea would be a nice fall tea, to drink maybe on a cool autumn afternoon while enjoying a mystery thriller.

I'm not a huge chai person, so I wasn't sure if I was going to like today's tea. Seeing so much cinnamon and black peppercorn on the list made me a bit leery. With that said, I quite enjoyed this! It's not spicy, but has nice notes of cinnamon and a touch of sweetness. I can't pick out individual flavors as noted on the package, but it comes together well.

Brewed at 212F for 5min

This tea wasn't what I was expecting at all. Because of it being a white tea base and having some unusual ingredients for a chai (lemongrass, pineapple, coconut) I was expecting something more subtle and nuanced. It's a spicy tea -- lots and lots of cinnamon, pepper, and ginger. Once I added some honey I could pick out a little pineapple toward the end of the sip, but I really had to look for it. If you're looking for lots of spice this tea will give it to you and it's a lighter cup than traditional chai, but don't expect to taste the white tea or some of the subtler ingredients. I think I prefer my chai with a base of black tea, as the white tea gets lost under these spices.

I truly love white chai, and this has all the qualities I love. However, I've been drinking the fan blend Spiritboard, which has vanilla and cream in it (along with a bit of black tea), and I think those flavors give the tea a better mouthfeel and a less stark combination of elements. It's a little silly to fault this tea for not being another tea, but Spiritboard showed me exactly how good white chai could be, and this tea falls a tiny bit short of that. CommuniTea review: I think my packet was lacking. I used less water, but it still wasn't very flavorful...just cinnamon. I think it may be worthy of a larger sample...more room for all of the ingredients 😉

200 degrees for 7 minutes. Even though I steeped longer with much less water today, the taste was very mild in my cup. Soft lemongrass with the heat of ginger and dryness of cinnamon was present, but I couldn't taste any other ingredients. This is one of those teas you have to think about to appreciate, I suppose. It's definitely not a zingy punch you in the tastebuds chai. So, if you like subtle chai flavors, this may be the tea for you, but it's not going to be a favorite for me.

Today's packet smelled like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. Steeping for 5 minutes at 212°F created a nice light brownish orange colored tea.

The white tea chai is a very interesting type of blend, bringing the spices forward much more than a black tea chai would. The main notable flavors are clove, cinnamon, and ginger. Some creamy coconut notes are present, as well as cardamom. It's difficult to make out the pineapple, but perhaps it's because only a small chunk was seen in the packet.

The white tea is much lighter than the spices, but provides a lightly astringent background for the spices to swirl around in. Overall, this one is good but leaves me wanting a home blended black tea chai with more cardamom and fresh ginger.

I am not a huge white tea fan. Way too weak for me. So I did not have high hopes for what sounded like a very strange tea.
To make it worse for some reason my timer didn’t go off so it also ended up overstepped. I figured I would give it a go and then turf it.

Well what a shock this tea was. Wonderful chai flavour, great taste. I will be ordering this one.

This is a weird, but wonderful tea. While it needs a shorter steep and lower temperature, the natural sweetness of the white tea pairs well with the chai spices, making it delicious.

I love chai, this one was light on the spice, but heavy on the cinnamon. I don't mind the cinnamon, but if you do, keep that in mind. From the dry leaves to the steam wafting from the cup, this tea smelled very 'cinnamon-y'. The forward taste was cinnamon with a delicate hint of spice in the background. Addition of lemon grass elevates chai for me. I discovered this combo here at Adagio Tea and I really find it quite nice. Happy Sipping!

Glad I got to try this, but it’s not my favorite chai. It’s pretty good, and I gave it a thumbs up. But I am finding white tea is generally too subtle, or there is something about it that I’m not a huge fan of. I steeped my packet in 8 ounces of 180F water for 5 minutes to try to optimize the flavors. It’s not chai spiced enough for my liking. Second steep I used 212F for 5 minutes, which was a bit better (less white tea flavor, more spice) but still pretty weak. Adagio has so many fabulous chais, I don’t have a need for this one. Sticking with my favorites: gaucho mate chai and raja oolong chai (also Thai chai and classic Masala chai when the mood strikes). However, if you have tried my favorites and don’t like them, or find chai too spicy, definitely give this one a whirl! It’s completely different!

Dry tea smells heavily of cinnamon, but a decent amount of lemon grass was noted, along with some coconut and a few peppercorns. I made the decision to brew at 200 rather than a lower 180 to help extract the flavor from the spices. Once brewed, the tea is a light golden brown. When hot, mild cinnamon is one of the only notes present, with a bit of a peppercorn zing in the finish. As the tea cools, more of the lemongrass blends with the cinnamon, and the peppercorn and ginger zings increase. I can detect the white tea base faintly in the background. The pineapple and coconut add a faint sweetness. Adding 1/8 tsp of sweetener helps to bring out the fruit flavors. This is a very light chai, to me, that has a lot of flavor without being overpowering. The lemongrass helps to balance out the cinnamon, cardamon, and ginger so that milk isn't needed. Brewed for 5 minutes at 200, did not detect any bitterness from the white tea being brewed at the higher temperature.

Another excellent chai; the spice flavor is lovely. Good hot, nice as it cools - the spice flavors come out even more. I don't think I would chill this one, but it's best warm rather than hot. I debated putting some cream in it but was enjoying so much as is that I decided not to. (4 mins @ 175 F, 2 drops EZ-Sweetz)

Trying along with the CommuniTEA: Strong cinnamon scent from dry ingredients and packet. once steeped for 3 mins at 185°F, I notice a subtle spiciness wafting from my cup of cinnamon, lemongrass, and pepper. When I take a sip, more cinnamon, pepper, and ginger.

As a chai lover, I enjoyed this new chai tea today. It was light and spicy without being overwhelming. My CommuniTEA packet had 2 tsp. of lightweight tea weighing in at just 2 grams. It appeared that all ingredients were present even 1 each of coconut, clove, black peppercorn, and pineapple. The lemongrass and white tea leaves were a 50/50 split.
I brewed low and long using the white tea temp. of 185F and increased the time from 5 to 7 minutes in a 10 oz. mug. The result was a flavorful chai-scented golden yellow liquor that had a bit of cloudiness characteristic of different chai teas I’ve brewed.

I sipped plain and the first taste was of warming spices. There was no bitterness or astringency from the white tea base and although a light one, it seemed solid enough to carry spice flavors well. As the tea cooled to room temp. a flavor of lemongrass was noted. A no-show though was the coconut and pineapple flavors. I believe the coconut played the role of smoothing all flavors and giving the tea a nice soft mouthfeel while the pineapple gave the lemongrass a citrus boost for a zing at the finish.

I enjoyed this tea sweetened with a bit of honey. I chilled a sweetened mini cup that was tasty too. This one would make a wonderful iced tea. I made a flavorful 8 oz. resteep brewing at 185F. for 10 min. The second hot cup was more lemony in flavor and less chai spiced. I also love a new direction to go in with a tea I enjoy. Next, I’d like to try this chai tea mixed with Sumari Mate and try it again in a blend with Rooibos Caramel in 1 rooibos/ 2 chai ratio as suggested by another reviewer. Oh, my tea stash continues to grow!

I love chai, and this is no exception. I steeped at the recommended 212 degrees for 5 min. The smell and taste in my Communitea packet leaned towards cinnamon and cardamom, with a mild bit of warmth from ginger and the slightest hints of lemongrass and peppercorn. I like this white tea chai--you get gentle chai spices without any black tea flavor or tannins. I don't taste any pineapple or coconut.

If I didn’t know the name of the tea, I don’t know that I’d call it a chai, as it’s not spicy like a traditional chai. Light white tea base with a muddled fruit flavor and a hint of cinnamon makes it a decent cup.

My CommuniTea packet smelled most strongly of cinnamon, though there was the hint of some fruity something-or-other.

The tea itself is overwhelmingly cinnamon, I didn't get any of the other flavors. As it cooled, it lost even the spicy sharpness.

I usually love white teas, but this one is lacking in my humble opinion. The flavors are just too light overall. When I think of chai, I think of an explosion of spicy goodness. All I got here was a weak cinnamon flavor and scent. The fruit flavors and lemongrass were off the reservation. For me there are simply too many chai mixes I love to frequent this blend. As my realtor once said, 'There's a butt for every seat.', so I'm sure there is a fan for this tea out there. It just isn't me! :) Happy Sipping!

I was looking forward to trying this one but it just tastes like hot water with a little bit of spice. I think the amount in the CommuniTEA packet wasn't enough to get the full flavor even though I only used about 8oz of water and brewed as instructed. I really can't taste the white tea at all, which is usually one of my favorite types of tea. I think the main thing I taste is some cinnamon with a little peppery spice, no lemongrass or coconut at all. Just based on the sample it's not for me, but I would buy more to try using more leaves to get a stronger flavor.

Honest to goodness, everybody was present and accounted for in my communiTEA packet! I was amazed by seeing a good sized chunk of pineapple, a coconut flake, and two suspicious looking black peppercorns! There was also a heavy cinnamon aroma presence.

I had 1.86 grams of tea, enough for only a 7.5 ounce steep. I used a 185°F steep to prevent scorching the white tea. I steeped for four minutes to allow enough time to bring out spice flavors, but not over-steep the tea.

When hot, moderate cinnamon, and ginger flavors were noted. Cardamom menthol and clove flavors were mild. Mild black pepper flavors and zings were noted. Pineapple flavors were not noted. I added a wee bit of sugar to bring out more spice and fruit flavors.

When warm, mild lemongrass flavors were noted. Cardamom, clove and ginger flavors were moderate. Strong and punchy cinnamon flavors were noted. Moderate black pepper zings made my taste buds pop off my tongue! Pineapple and lemongrass flavors disappeared under chai spice flavors towards finish.

This chai blend was way too cinnamon forward. The white tea was along for the ride by distributing cinnamon and ginger flavors. The coconut made an appearance at the end by providing a mild and smooth nutty mouthfeel. (4 mins @ 185ºF, ⅛ tsp sugar)

Honestly, this tasted like a watered-down version of every other chai I've ever had and I'm already not a fan of chai teas, so needless to say, I'm not impressed by this one. It's not bad, but it's not good either, in my opinion. Definitely not for me.

I love the adventurous teas we have been getting lately. I got chai aromas with notable coconut presence upon opening my packet. A lighter flavor than other chais due to the white tea, which gives a buttery smooth texture. Cinnamon, clove and coconut flavors are forward, with ginger and lemongrass in the background. No discernable pineapple to me, which I consider a positive as I'm not a Dan. Overall a light, sippable Chai that is not overpowering and definitely in my opinion one that doesn't require any milk.

Interesting blend of ingredients in this one. The base tea is smooth, and as expected, subtle but flavorful. The spices are toned down a bit from a usual chai to nicely match the tea without overwhelming it. The taste and aroma is mostly cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Unfortunately I didn't taste the tropical flavors of pineapple, coconut and lemongrass. I think I would have liked it much better if those had been more prominent. Still a nice warming, gentle cup.
