If you love hot and spicy then this tea is for you. All the spices blended well together.

This is a chai for those who like their chai spicy 🌶 this had a very nice kick from the chili and peppercorn inclusions. If you really want to spruce this up, you can add a little chocolate and get that sweet-spicy combo that I personally love. I will say, if you aren't one for spice then this one is probably not going to be for you since the spicy was more pronounced than I expected. If you like spicy tea, enjoy this with a splash of milk and a tiny bit of sweetener of choice!

This was quite a bit spicy 🌶️. It was okay but hard to drink.

This tea was ok, but the chili pepper changed the normal chai flavor for me a bit. I like the original heat of chai more, but it was a curious tea and I'm glad I was able to try it.

Today's CommuniTea packet is tri pepper chai with black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom pods, red and black peppercorn, aniseed and chili pepper. I love spice and was predisposed to like this. The aroma in the packet and cup was lovely, but I can see where this tea would be a step too far for many people. Even drinking it cold (not an intent, but that kind of day), you can feel the heat at the back of your throat. It won't be my favorite chai with the pepper overriding all the other lovely spices, but I can see it's place in the pantheon. Brewed in 12 ounces of 205-degree water for three minutes, sipped then abandoned for an hour or so.

The spice surprised me! There is a nice heat without being bitter. Added honey and milk and it still was spicy, but I liked it.

While enjoyable, it did leave a bad aftertaste. Glad I tried it but it is not one I would purchase.

This one is polarizing for sure. I love heat and spicy stuff so I think it is interesting to try a spicy tea. I don't think the heat is overpowering. If you like even mild hot sauce on your food, you should be fine with this. I liked the experience of trying this sample. I don't know that I would want to drink it all the time but an interesting experience to be sure.

I enjoy chai teas, but not this blend. I get a little bit of tea and a lot of pepper, so much so that the other spices are largely undetectable. To describe it as pepper forward is an understatement - it is more like revenge of the pepper. It isn't a burning type of pepper, just a pepper spice - if you enjoy lots of black pepper on your food, this might be the perfect tea for you.

I enjoy the different spiced teas and this is no exception. The addition of the peppers really wakes you up!

I love a good Chai tea. This one had a bit more kick than I am used to. Since I don't add any sweetener to my tea, this was too spicy on its own for me. I think it would be great blended .

I feel like this tea would have its purpose but not as a common pick for me. Needed sweet cream with this. Had this for breakfast savory homemade siomai and they pair well together.

Tri Pepper Chai is one of Adagio's better chai blends, though perhaps not the blend for me. The spices, for the most part, are balanced, but this is definitely a pepper-forward blend. In that respect, it reminds me quite a bit of Tazo Chai, and other chais I have had from coffeeshops. Personally, I prefer a softer chai, one with more pronounced cinnamon and/or cardamom notes and not quite so much zing in the back of the throat. Though this is strong on the pepper, that could be a good thing for those that often object to the strong clove presence in some Adagio chai blends; the clove is overshadowed by the pepper. Likewise, the heat provided by the chiles and peppers in the blend is not the kind of heat that lingers like spicy foods will do. For me, that's a plus. The pepperiness also makes this tea milk-friendly. It takes milk well; one might even say it's better with it. Bottom line: If Adagio was aiming to come up with something directly comparable to Tazo, I think they've done it. Of course, it's much better - stronger and fresher - than Tazo; that's just the best comparison I can make. (3-5 minutes @ 212F)

Ewww. No. It's spicy! Like real spicy. I added milk and cream and still too much. I had to dump this one out.

Bravo to those of you who can drink a cup of this with a smile on your face. You would have no problem drinking a cup of Frank's Redhot Xtra Hot Sauce. Seriously, you could dunk your wings in this tea! It only took three sips of this diabolical liquid to make my gut flinch. I'm out. Way too much heat for this self professed chai lover.

I was sure I'd reviewed this tea the last time I tried it, but I guess not! It's a VERY spicy chai. Not so spicy that it competes with the hottest Thai food, but the heat lingers at the back of your throat and on your tongue for quire some time. It's just not what I want from my tea-drinking experience. Even with milk or cream, this is still far more spice than I care for.

This tea has a kick! It’s bold and it’s spicy. It’s a little too much spice for me. I’m giving it to a friend who uses it to make a cocktail.

I enjoy the heck out of this tea. Always been a chile pepper person. This has a nice spice and kick for morning or afternoon. I’ll even add some my favorite hot chile flakes from time to time to really warm it up. Habenero, chipotle, or even ghost sprinkle.

Tri Pepper Chai: A Review for Heat Seekers
Calling all spice adventurers! If you crave a chai that packs a punch, look no further than Adagio Teas' Tri Pepper Chai. This blend isn't for the faint of heart, but for those who love a fiery kick, it's a flavor explosion.

First Impressions:

The aroma is a heady mix of warming spices like cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom, with a hint of peppery intrigue. The loose leaf tea itself is a beautiful sight, with vibrant orange, brown, and black peppercorns peeking through.

The Steep:

I followed the recommended steeping instructions (5 minutes at 212°F), and let me tell you, the heat builds gradually. The first sip is a comforting warmth of classic chai spices, but then the peppers hit – a wave of tingling heat that lingers pleasantly. The black pepper adds a sharp bite, the pink peppercorn offers a floral warmth, and the chili flakes deliver a slow burn that intensifies with each sip.

Flavor Profile:

This is not your grandma's chai. The black tea base provides a robust foundation, while the ginger and cardamom add depth and complexity. But the real stars are the peppers. They don't overpower the other flavors, but they take center stage, offering a range of heat that builds with each sip. I found myself reaching for the milk jug more often than with a traditional chai, but even with a splash, the heat remained present.

Overall:

Tri Pepper Chai is a unique and exciting tea experience. If you enjoy spicy food and adventurous flavor profiles, this blend is a must-try. Just be warned, it packs a punch!

Here are some additional points to consider:

Heat level: This is definitely a spicy tea. If you're not a fan of heat, you might want to steer clear or add more milk or honey to tame the flames.
Versatility: While delicious on its own, this tea could also be used in creative ways, like adding a spicy kick to cocktails or marinades.
Value: The price varies depending on the retailer, but it's generally comparable to other loose leaf teas.
Final Verdict:

If you're looking for a chai with a fiery personality, Tri Pepper Chai is a bold and delicious choice. Just be prepared to sweat (a little)!

This tea is definitely spicy in the sense that the pepper flavor is obvious and strong. Cardamom is a nice addition and I really enjoy this tea.

★★★★★

Definitely a spicy chai! I added a bit of milk to this one, which helped to smooth the tea out a bit.

★★★★★

Exactly the chai blend I have been looking for. The perfect level of heat from the peppers that complements the warm spice.

★★★★☆

If you like your tea to be spicy, this one's for you. I'm not entirely into spicy stuff but with some honey and milk it was good.

★★★★★

This is my favorite chai tea. The peppers add just the right amount of kick that pairs great with the sweeter components.

★★★★★

We really love this chai. It is not an every day tea for us, but we really enjoy a spicy chai. The pepper in this one provides a nice warming spice, but is by no means outrageously spicy.

★★★★★

Oh my! I was looking for a Chai with a kick, because that's how I like it. This absolutely fit the bill!!! No more buying chai at the shops!! Just estatic about this one!!

★★★★☆

Very very spicy! It's surprisingly good as an iced tea, a little too strong for me as a hot tea. It was, however, a perfect gift for my boyfriend who loves a lot of spice.

★★★★★

Initial aroma upon opening the bag was a wonderful, sweet chai. Strong notes of cinnamon and chili.

Initial sips were spicy and hot. Even the aroma from the tea had some good spice to it. It is by far the spiciest tea that I have ever tried, but it is so good. The chai notes are a bit overshadowed by the spice notes, but I still enjoy it. I did add a splash of milk to see if it would tame the spice or pull out more of the chai, but it didn't change it much. I still have the lingering spice on my tongue like I have eaten some medium to hot salsa

That said, this is right up my ally and I have friends that I know will love this. It will be polarizing due to the level of spice, but it is one that I am happy to have in the tea stash.

I was excited about the Tri Pepper Chai., now feeling a bit disappointed. The pepper overwhelms the other spices. Lots of pepper on the palate and a bit of a burn in the throat. While not unpleasant, I doubt I will order this again. The search for a chai I really enjoy will continue.

Update…the addition of heavy cream somewhat tames the pepper, but the other spices remain lost behind the peppery punch.

This is my absolute favorite. The spices give a warmth to the drink even when it's cooled down. I like mine with honey and vanilla cream. It is by far one of the more flavorful chai variations I have tried.

Could be spicier - didn't have quite enough zip, kick or heat for me to qualify as tri pepper, but it wasn't a bad chai.

This is an instant favourite. I have many other teas on hand, but I find myself gravitating towards Tri-Pepper Chai most often. I enjoy spice and this is blended perfectly for my tastes, but I also enjoy it with a bit of soy cream or almond milk. While it's an everyday tea for me, I imagine this would work wonders when sick and congested. I hope to enjoy more spiced teas like this!

I enjoy a spicy tea once in a while, but this was a little too spicy. Maybe the secret is adding cream and sugar?

★★★☆☆

I mostly got this out of curiosity, however, I discovered this really is very spicy. The smell is absolutely delightful, but the chili flakes were a bit overpowering. Maybe if I mixed it with a more regular chai next time to dilute the heat.

The tri-pepper chai was delicious, featuring a warm and spicy flavor that adds a unique twist. The combination of three peppers gives it a cozy and exciting taste, making it a great choice for those who enjoy a bit of spice in their tea.

★★★★☆

This is certainly a spicy chai! I normally steep black teas for 5 minutes, but I'm glad I started with the recommended 3 minutes here, because it was quite spicy straight. I added some sweetener like I normally do with chais, and that improved it for me; the sweet and spicy flavor is nice. Next, I added milk -- which is how I'm used to having chais, but I don't always do it at home -- and that made it quite tasty: milky, sweet, and spicy. I'm giving it 4 stars rather than 5 mainly because I don't think I could have too much of this without the sweetener and/or milk.

There is so much peppery tastes in this it nearly knocked me on my behind, something which hasn't happened with other teas on the site.

I bought Tri Pepper Chai as a gift for my boyfriend (I can't taste it myself due to allergies). He loves chais and spicy teas, so based on his feedback, I'd say this is 5 stars!
