I was looking for a replacement for my favorite Teavana oolong chai. This is close but a tad extra pepper and a little less orange than the Teavana
The rich complexity of oolong tea lays a smooth foundation for a majestic cup, packed with savory spice notes and hypnotic aroma.

I was looking for a replacement for my favorite Teavana oolong chai. This is close but a tad extra pepper and a little less orange than the Teavana
Another one I discovered in the advent calendar. It's a more mellow, less clove intense chai than the masala chai. I don't have to worry about oversteeping this one as much as I do with the masala. Beautiful flavor. I usually add a bit of sugar (1-2 tsp per 12-16 oz mug) and a bit of milk to it, just to round out the flavors a little. This may replace the masala chai as my favorite of the adagio chai teas.
As others have noted, cinnamon is the dominant flavor of this tea. On the plus side, it is naturally sweet. I felt no need to add sugar.
While I do not find this tea as spicy with warm spices as many chai s, it is still a nice cup of tea! The cocoa nibs gives it a special hint of chocolate that I enjoy after dinner.
I absolutely love this tea. Planning on getting the 16oz bag right now.
Love this tea ... so flavorful! The flavor is bold and sweet with the cinnamon.
Not what my spouse liked in a chai. But it was good to at least try
This is my FAVORITE!! It's like drinking a Chai tea bought from the store. I add either honey and milk or someday I just add sugar. It's one of the few "coffee-like" drinks that I still love, since Covid changed my taste buds.
This is definitely an in your face SPICY chai!! The cinnamon is out of control. I was able to get three brews out of a single serving, however the cinnamon overtook every other flavor on the second steep. The cinnamon was a bit too artificial- think Hot Tamales- for my liking, but my husband absolutely loved it.
Made a lovely chai latte! A little too much cinnamon for my taste in a chai, but still a great cup! 5 @ 212
Cinnamon was king in this blend. I couldn't make out other common chai spices over the cinnamon, but I did still enjoy it. Consumed with the CommuniTea on December 15, 2020.
This is an enjoyable tea, the cinnamon flavor is not overwhelming, which is a plus.
A great spicy chai! Perfect with milk and sweetener
I love this chai. It doesn't even need any sweetener. I like to steep mine in almond or coconut milk for full chainess!
Nice and spicy. Great with milk and sweetener!!!
My husband really enjoyed this, I had some different opinions. When I opened it, I thought it smelled like wet dog. It tasted a lot better than it smelled with mostly cinnamon coming through. The weird smell came back again in the aftertaste. But like I said, my husband enjoyed it, so do with that what you will. I averaged our rating and landed on 3 stars.
So this is a good tea, but bluntly I don't get the ginger, clove, or peppercorn tastes at all. It's all about cinnamon, with a faint undercurrent of cardamom.
This is a good, cinnamon-forward chai. If you prefer chai with more balance of other spices and not so much cinnamon, maybe try a different one; chai town is excellent for spice.
While I enjoy cinnamon, this blend from my CommuniTEA box was a bit more than I would prefer. Adding sugar and cream helped mellow out the flavors to a more manageable level for me. If you enjoy a truly spicy chai, this will be right up your alley.
Cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and cardamom. Super fall spicy no mistaking this Chai. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA December box.
I feel like this month's CommuniTea is determined to get me used to chai.
I steeped this a little stronger (longer time, less water), because I planned from the start to mix in [almond] milk. I did take a precursory taste before adding the milk though. Now I'm not familiar enough with oolongs to pick out its flavor, so to me the cinnamon was definitely the strongest point here. Before adding milk it tasted like cinnamon candy - very strong (helped along by my longer steep I'm sure). I may have overdone it a touch with the milk, but it did it's job & tamed it down to a more suitable level for me.
Steeped 8min, 212F
This has a lovely combination of flavors and I think this will become a regular addition to my tea drinking.
This was a really good tea to start my day. Everything seemed present in my Communitea packet. The cinnamon is the real star of the show with all the other flavors playing in the background. It wasn't overly spicy and a bit of honey and soy made for a delicious sip.
I do like a nice black tea with a bit of spice. Upon opening the bag the aroma that hit me was that of cinnamon toast. The taste continued as I sipped the tea with just a little sugar. I say it is more like cinnamon toast rather than cinnamon rolls because the tea had a buttery sweet cinnamon taste with a hint of something that reminded me of sourdough. There was a slight lingering spicy cinnamon burn that stayed in the back of my mouth. The tea remained very aromatic and made my house smell great all day.
I love chai teas and when I saw that this was in my CommuniTea today I was very happy it was. Very nice cinnamon flavor along with a sweetness that was perfect. I definitely will have to buy a bag to enjoy more in depth.
Good flavors overall but somewhat weaker than I was expecting for an oolong. The cinnamon and spices overpowered the tea so the beauty of the oolong gets a bit masked.
The main reason I give this three stars is that I just don't like chai tea. (The CommuniTEA box I got had rooibos and chai back to back, which was a bummer since those are the two teas I really can't handle very well, but I gave them an honest try!)
This tea smells very strongly of pure cinnamon, which isn't terrible, but overall it tastes like you dumped a bunch of cinnamon into hot water, which isn't super appealing to me. It also has a strangely (though reasonably natural) sweet taste to it. This is not something I would choose again, but the kids actually liked it a lot. It does leave that spicy aftertaste on your tongue, but the kids didn't seem to mind that even though they are normally really sensitive to 'spicy' things.
I really like this tea. Which is surprising since I also don't like spicy cinnamon things like Hot Tamales. It is almost too spicy for me. But what I like about it is that normally I have trouble with chai teas because there is always too much of some spice to put me off it, probably the cardamom. But, for me the cinnamon evens that out to make it a really good tea. If I didn't know it was Oolong, I would have thought that it was black like normal, so that really didn't impact it much, other than make it not stand up to milk as robustly. I'm still debating on if I want to buy this. I put it on my wish list and I have another shot at testing it because it's in an Oolong sampler I bought I while ago. Over all I thought it was a nice tea, Cinnamon with a little extra spiciness from the chai flavors. Tasted as part The CommuniTea.
The smell of the dry tea is overwhelmingly cinnamon, though not a problem since I love cinnamon. The taste is similar, with cinnamon at the forefront, but the other flavors add a little depth and richness. The black peppercorns give a pleasant little kick at the end. This isn't like Adagio's masala chai where all the spices contribute equally to the flavor - cinnamon is definitely the main player which is slightly disappointing in what's supposed to be a chai. I did a second steep for 7 minutes instead of 5 and added a little brown sugar and a splash of milk to my cup. This made a delightful little treat, reminiscent of cinnamon rolls, for this cold winter day.
I love cinnamon and related spices so this is a winner for me. Definitely improved by a little milk and sugar.
I would call this cinnamon-lite. It's good, not great. It's good, not bad.
I was looking forward to this tea. It was a little disappointing. The flavor and blend of components were good. But upon steeping it came up short. It as weak and mild. It was missing the pep and pizzaz of other chai.
This tea is a cinnamon lover's dream! I wouldn't consider this a chai as all the classic chai flavors were extremely understated. They were in the background adding giving the cinnamon a full-bodied undertone. This would be delicious mixed with some hot apple juice. (5 min @ 212°F)
The cinnamon was really overpowering in my cup :( I did brew from a CommuniTea packet though, so it's possible that my packet was missing elements.
I really enjoyed this cup. It was spicy and sweet. This is going on my to buy list.
This was a great tea for today. Deliciously fragrant and flavourful with a hint of spicy. I will be buying this for winter months.
Of all the different chai samples I ordered, I think this was my least favorite and it was the one I was most looking forward to. Just an odd note to it...can't put my finger on it.
I've stared at the ingredients for way too long and still can't figure out how it tastes so sweet on its own. It's like cinnamon sugar in tea form, and with none of the calories. I'm a big dessert person (yet don't like adding milk or sugar to my teas), and every other tea that people have described as a 'dessert' tea have fallen short for me. THIS feels like a dessert tea, and I love it. Oh, and a level teaspoon is plenty to make an 8oz. cup.
I made milk chai with this packet from communiTEA. Wow! This is very good! I thought cinnamon was over powering when I open the packet, however, after brewing in whole fat milk, I changed my mind. This makes such a nice chai milk tea. The well mixed spice enhances the taste of milk and natty flavor follows later. I enjoyed this tea very much.
I'm not a fan of chai, but I love oolong, so I was a bit disappointed that the spices really overwhelmed the oolong in this. Overall, it was much fainter than I expected, but I liked it more than I expected to.
A chai tea for cinnamon lovers! The spice notes of ginger and cardamom take a back seat to cinnamon in this tea, although they can still be tasted. The oolong base and cocoa nibs bring a richness to the cup that makes this a superb “comfort tea.”
I thought this was very good just the right sweet and spicy combination! Since it was a chai with cinnamon I decided to have it for my afternoon tea and Cinnamon French Toast cookie.
Really enjoyed this chai. I added brown sugar and oat milk to it. Very spicy without being overpowering.
Nice mild chai tea. I needed to add almond milk to it to balance out the spice in the flavor because it's a chai but a good tea to try.
Big cinnamon flavor from this one, the spiciness of the peppercorns comes through too. I liked it more when I added a splash of milk, seemed to smooth the flavors a bit.
Got this in the advent calendar a week or so ago and loved it, glad it showed up in Communitea as well!
I don't hate this but I think I like other Chai teas better. I thought this would be a powerful full bodied tea but it is much milder than I thought. I added buckwheat honey. I can taste the cocoa nibs a d chicory giving it an earthiness, but I think the nice part is the cinnamon, clove and peppercorn. They are there but not competing. Complimentary. I might buy again.
I was nervous about the chicory and cocoa flavors, as I don't really care for either one in tea, but the whole blend came together well. I personally would have preferred less cinnamon flavor so the others flavors came through a bit more (and also so I wasn't so aware of my minor cinnamon allergy!), but all in all this was a really great spicy cup of tea. (4 min @ 200 degrees, light sugar)
I feel like my chai reviews are getting repetitive... the cinnamon was overpowering. The light oolong flavor got bulldozed to the point I tasted no tea flavors whatsoever, and might as well have been drinking cinnamon water. Which makes it the worst Adagio chai I've tried to date. This tasted almost exactly like the Fiery Cinnamon Spice tea instead of anything resembling a chai tea. I wish Adagio would make one where the other spices would pop more - I want to taste the cardamom, ginger, pepper, and cloves.
I loved this chai tea! It's mellow in comparison to the masala -- it's still got plenty of spice and a little bit of sweetness. So good, my new fave chai!
