This tea is great. If you love chocolate and you love chai this is a perfect mix.
Exotic Masala Chai flavors from India paired with dark chocolate. Soothing cocoa, zesty warmth, seamless texture.

This tea is great. If you love chocolate and you love chai this is a perfect mix.
I was excited to try the Chocolate Chai as I love chocolate and chai teas. However, this wasn't quite as good as I had anticipated.
This tea is good without milk but is better with milk added. Good chai flavor with a mild chocolate flavor.
Really yummy. I like to add some half and half to it. delicious!
The chocolate notes can seem a little overwhelming and a tad artificial at times, so I would recommend sweetener to even things out.
This tea has just the right blend of spices to complement the flavor of the chocolate. Neither overpowers the other! LOVE this tea!!
Such a fun chai! This is also a great use of the chocolate nibs, which can sometimes feel out of place in a tea. Great for anyone who likes a little sweet and spicy treat!
Need to use a little strong to enjoy the true chocolate body taste
Love this stuff, it's very addictive. Fantastic chai flavor and deep chocolate notes, smooth and luscious
This is an excellent chai. the chocolate comes in as a nice aftermath, and the spice blend is great.
This is really nice. I see it's a base in a lot of tea I like more than this, so maybe it just needs something additional.
Unlike regular Masala chai, which I prefer brewed extremely strong and sweetened and with milk (I use almond or soy milk because I'm lactose intolerant), I like this chocolate chai brewed much milder and without sugar or milk. I think the addition of chocolate makes it a drink more easily enjoyed on its own without the traditional additions. It's also good with sugar and milk, but I like it plain as long as I go light on the amount of tea I steep. Regardless, I think it's fantastic and definitely recommend it to any chai lover.
i'm still 'thinking' about chocolate teas - but this mix w/ the chai flavors works well
This tea has a lovely hint of chocolate that satisfies the sweet tooth craving without the sugar. Great with breakfast pastries also.
Love having this with a bit of almond milk and sugar, full flavored and cozy.
A bit strange to pair chocolate and chai, but it works somehow.
If you are a chai lover, you will enjoy this one. A smooth relaxing cup of tea!
The chocolate flavor, as well as the chai spices were very evident after steeping. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had already had the Chocolate Chai Pu-reh, I suspect I would be stocking this tea. It is very good but I did an on the spot comparison and I like the other tea just a smidge bit better.
This tea is quite delicious. A rich chai flavor without being overly spicy.
I like the chocolate and the spice, but the bitterness of the black tea can sneak in. Recommend steeping for 2 minutes tops, and/or adding milk to balance it out.
the chocolate flavor goes so well with the chai!
We really enjoyed this tea with cream, for some reason, the chocolate doesn't really come through as much without it.
This is good, but not exceptional. The Valentine's has a stronger chocolate flavor, and one of the other chai selections give a stronger spice. But for something different every now and then, this is nice.
Lovely flavors of chocolate and cinnamon. I find it a little bitter without honey, but your mileage may vary!
Smells f a n t a st i c! Will brew soon! Gotta get through the others :)
I thought i would try a chai tea and i love chocolate. Unfortunately I tried it steeped less, more, with milk, with cream, plain. Chocolate chai didn't taste like chocolate and i couldn't find a single way to like it.
DELICIOUS BEST CHAI I HAVE EVER. Had a nice steaming cup with milk and used honey to sweeten .
The subtle and perfect ration of the flavors of chocolate and chai makes this one of my favorites.
I love this! It tastes like a slightly chocolate version of the chai I used to drink in India. The chai masala that adagio sells does not taste like that, so I wouldn’t say this is necessarily a chocolate version of that one. Love this!!
A lovely chai. The chocolate part is noticeable, delightful but not overwhelming.
So great, I bought it a second time!
Not too spicy and mild on the chocolate. Perfection with a lil cream.
Not bad if you like mild flavors. I personally would have liked more chocolate and Chai to come through.
All ingredients were there in my CommuniTEA packet, including just one lonely cocoa nib. Sadly chocolate chips are not an ingredient in this tea... I love CommuniTEA, but I'm usually frustrated on chai days when we should have 2 heaping tsps of tea per 8 ounce cup and the packets routinely have 1.5 tsps intended for a 12 oz. cup. I made a very small cup, 4 oz, to match the amount of tea in my packet without sacrificing the flavor of my tea. Ginger was the strongest spice in my cup, and the chocolate was more of a hint. Maybe a scoop of this tea usually has more cocoa nibs to make for a more chocolatey flavor. Delicious with a little honey and this time I went for a more decadent creamer than usual -- half and half, the real thing! I enjoyed this cup and would drink it again if it was offered to me, but I prefer the chocolate chai pu'erh and the cinco de mayo tea (the one that's only available when May 5th rolls around) from Adagio's chocolatey spicy tea offerings, and I think that's partly because they both contain chocolate chips making for more chocolatey-ness. (4 mins @195º for both steeps.)
I don't think it's wildly chocolate-y, more of a smoother chai. I personally take this chai with just 1 tsp, otherwise I think it gets too spicy.
Really delicious! Spicy and Chocolaty at the same time
This is so good! Smooth and sweet cinnamon, ginger, chocolate.
This was a very welcomed cup today. When your running late heading to work and the sky is grey, after being scorching hot the day before. This Chia got y through my day. I was able to make a large flask of tea that I drank throughout the morning and was sad when I realized it was empty.
The CommuniTEA sample of Chocolate Chai is a lovely pairing of mild chai and chocolate. Interestingly, my packet contained a clove bud, although clove is not listed in the ingredients. I steeped at 190°F x 3 minutes and sweetened with a small amount of raw sugar. Delightful! A resteep is a bit weak, however.
Surprisingly unsweet, for a chocolate tea, and I found that it works to drink it black. Many chai blends feel a bit empty, brewed with just water (given that they're meant to be made with milk, it's understandable) but this one held up fine on its own.
A light chai with a good kick of ginger. The chocolate is overpowered at the start, develops a bit more as it cools, but is never really star of the show.
Steeped 2x, 200F 5m
I don’t usually like chocolate teas so I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It’s a well balanced blend, all of the spices working well together with no one standing out above the other. The chocolate was a background taste until I added oat milk creamer and a touch of honey. My plain cup was good but this blend was even better with the additions. It reminded me a bit of Mexican hot chocolate. Great chai for when I’ve got a sweet tooth and need a break from my super spicy regular chais.
Chai has never been one of favorite things to drunk, but I like this one without any sweetener and served hot.
UPDATE: How things change! I received another packet of this tea through the communiTEA, almost a year after I tried a sample of it in a regular order. A better kettle and a better water filter later, plus a much better understanding of how I like to prepare black tea for myself, and this is a totally different experience. I typically brew Ceylon-based looseleaf tea between 2 minutes and 2m30s; in this case I extended the steep to 3 minutes to extract more flavor from the masala (spices) in the blend. The tea is richly chocolatey and spicy, its dessert qualities enhanced by 2 drops of liquid sucralose and 2 teaspoons of half-and-half in the cup. The flavor peaked when the tea cooled to around 160 F, and became exceptionally rich and indulgent. I'd re-order this after all, though I think the chocolate chai pu'erh beats it by a nose.
Previous review (2/5 stars): I think I just don't like chocolate chai tea. I tried Tazo's and it made me go 'yecch', and this... was about the same. If you already know that's your thing, this is a great example of the genre. I'm definitely not repurchasing it though.
Omg this is so delicious I love the chocolate taste yummm!
I automatically like teas that have chocolate in them! I know it says chai, but this one reminded me more of a Mexican hot chocolate than an Indian spiced milk tea. The main flavors coming forward are the chocolate and cinnamon. This tea is delightful with sweetening and cream. (3 mins @ 200 F, 2 drops EZ-Sweetz, 1 tsp half-and-half)
Based on the CommuniTEA packet: its a pretty good chai tea. The chocolate taste complements the chai very well
This made for a fantastic dessert tea. I prefer my chai to have a bit more spice, but it still tasted lovely and the chocolate came through beautifully.
Yum! This tea had all the flavors of chai plus chocolate! I used my big cup, so I let the tea steep longer (about 7 minutes) to ensure that it was flavorful enough. I think some people found this tea weak in flavor, so I would recommend steeping it longer. I drank this with milk and sugar.
If you're looking for a strong chocolate flavor, you won't find it; the chocolate is very subtle. But there's a nice amount of spice from the cinnamon and ginger, and it's an enjoyable cup. I also accidentally oversteeped my second cup, was pleased that it wasn't bitter!

I got a sample packet of this through the CommuniTEA. I don't like chai, so my rating for this would never have been too high. It's about the same as most other chai teas. They all end up tasting the same - just that overpowering spicy flavor. I got a very subtle hint of chocolate, but it's not pleasant mixed with the spices. I'd definitely not choose this again. Chai lovers might enjoy this I suppose.
