Closer to Loved it than Meh. This CommuniTEA sample tastes better with almond milk added to it. I could smell the chocolate in the packet when i opened it. very nice tea for the sample today though.
Smooth, rich and comforting. Our Chocolate Pu Erh Chai hits all the marks for the perfect afternoon treat.

Just 15 seconds to steep. I didn't get the pu'erh taste, but didn't get much of a chocolate taste either. The spices of the chai are all there. I'm not a fan of pu'erh, but this became my second favorite after pu'erh spice. Maybe its the spices that hide to fishy taste of pu'erh.
This is a great tea! I didn't sense any fishy smell, so no need to rinse. I steeped at the recommended time and temp. This is a smooth, cinnamon-heavy chai with hints of chocolate in the smell and taste. Yummy both hot and cold.
I'm learning that pu erh teas are not for me worth each new CommuniTEA packet containing one. All I really got out of this was spice, no chocolate. The texture is lovely, as usual, but personally that was the only thing I enjoyed about this particular tea. I can say that it didn't have that fishy smell/taste that generally turns me off of this type of tea, so there is that.
This is a nice gentle chai sweetened with chocolate. I rinsed the tea before steeping but added the rinse water back in. The pu- erh tea didn’t seem to have a strong earthy presence. I enjoyed this cuppa with milk and honey. Adagios chocolate whipped honey gave the robust cinnamon flavor an extra chocolate boost.
This tea was almost like drinking a spicy hot chocolate. The ginger, cardamom, and clove flavors came forward more as the tea cooled to give a gentle zing to the finish. This was a nicely flavored and very relaxing treat. My CommuniTEA packet had 2 tsp. of all ingredients which I steeped for 5 minutes at 212F in a 12 oz. mug. For a flavorful resteep, I used less water to make 10 oz.
A nice light chocolate flavored tea! I enjoyed this with a touch of splenda.
I just love this chocolate chai tea. Its dessert in a cup tasting.
This review is based on the CommuniTEA sample, so I'm hoping it will improve once I try the larger bag I have of this tea and can use more tea leaves. Upon opening the packet it smells amazing, like spicy ginger, cinnamon, and cloves with and underlying earthiness and rich cocoa. The pu-erh is smooth with no bitterness. The flavor was lighter than I would have expected for a pu-erh but still good. Tastes mainly like Adagio's masala chai with some smooth dark chocolate flavors in the background. I do like it, just wish it was stronger so I will try it with more tea leaves next time.
It’s a good chocolate chai. Neither the spices nor the chocolate overwhelm and it is a mellow blend. Better slightly cooled than straight out of the pot.
The earthy notes of pu'ehr are a bit overshadowed by the chai spice and chocolate flavors of this tea. Mineral and earthy notes in the background -- cinnamon, cardamom, and chocolate way out in front. Lovely aroma...tea is a beautiful earthy brown just like the contents of the tea packet. There was no fishy smell from the tea (as can happen sometimes with pu'ehr teas) so no rinse was necessary before brewing. I like my tea strong, so brewed 212F, 5 minutes. Lovely spicy cup of tea! Not too much spice...not too much mineral. Just right. MMMMM. Definitely adding to my wishlist.
taste like an light chai thats earthy chocolate and cinnamon
lovely and enjoyable tea, fun blend of flavors thanks!
This tea has a strong cinnamon and spice taste, even more overpowering than Pu Erh Spice; I found the Pu Erh itself rather weak and did not notice the chocolate at all. Brewing at 2 tsp per cup (according to the directions) seems to multiply the spice while keeping the tea taste in the background, so I also enjoyed this tea brewed at 1 tsp per cup. Brewing for longer periods (I tried up to 10 mins) does not overpower the tea. This is tasty plain and also great with frothy cream and sugar. It's an ideal tea for people who love Chai spices who aren't sure if they will like Pu Erh, it doesn't need to be rinsed (though you might want to just to reduce the spice to tea ratio), and it doesn't taste too earthy. It might leave Pu Erh lovers wondering where to find the taste of their tea, and chai lovers wondering what is different compared to a normal spiced cup. My favorite way to drink this is mixed 50:50 with Pu Erh Dante, with a little added coco powder, then I can finally taste the tea and chocolate through the spices.
I was surprised by a strong cinnamon flavor when I first sipped. However the more I sipped the more the chocolate Liqueur flavor became present. No rinse was needed. Steeped 195° for 3 minutes.
I loved the taste of the pu-erh and chai spices together, but any chocolate notes were overshadowed by the more prominent spice flavors. Still enjoyed this delicious cup. I added half n half and sweetener, which melded the flavors beautifully together.
If you like chai and you like Pu, then this is the tea for you at 5 minutes for maximum joy. Unfortunately it is far from the tea for me. One sip and I was giving another tea to my husband which had him happier than a pup chasing his tail.
Smells like mexican hot chocolate. The PuErh blends very nicely with the chai spices. Much preferred over the Chorange
Too much ginger for me for the morning. I am using this as an iced tea
This was meh for me. I like chai spice, chocolate, and pu erhs, but blended together, it was muddled and underwhelming.
I brewed it just as directed and it's so good! The malty flavor of the pu erh combined with the spices of chai and the chocolate really hit the spot, it was like a dessert. :)
Try this if you have bad experience with chocolate teas being thin and overall bland and waxy. The chai spices and pu-erh tea make this very full flavored.
This tea has more chocolate scent than flavor. The cinnamon overpowers most of the chocolate. That said, the tea tastes great. It's just not super chocolatey.
A smooth flavor with a hint of chocolate. This is a great tea for after being out in the cold.
The cocoa flavor is such a nice touch to the earthiness of the puerh.
Really nice play on the puer base. The spice is nice but not overpowering.
Delicious. Perfect balance. Just enough cocoa and it has a very warm smooth finish.
Really delicious tea! This is the first pu erh that I’ve tried, so I can’t compare it to others, but the flavor of this one is really yummy and desserty.
Great chocolate flavor. Definitely a repeat purchase.
I wanted to like this, but it s a little too cinnamon-heavy for my tastes.
I was really excited to try this tea, but it fell short of my expectations. The chocolate flavor was underwhelming and the blend was very ginger heavy. Without the chocolate, I might have enjoyed it more as a chai, but it didn't have the intensity I was expecting.
I enjoy both pu-erh and chai teas, a lot! Let me tell ya, this tea smells delicious, chocolate covered in cinnamon & chai dances around my kitchen, as it steeped. Noted: even though a pu-era blend, I didn’t feel it needed to be rinsed. Each sip had that expected earthiness, as distinctive cinnamon and chai spices lingered on my tongue. I could smell chocolate, but it never showed up in my cup, almost got a little lost in the chai spices. Would I drink again, yes, but I guess expected more out of this combination.
where is the chocolate? I purchased this tea specifically for the chocolate and boy was I disappointed...Where's the Chocolate?
The Chocolate Chai Pu Erh tea has a wonderful taste. I tasted more chai spices than chocolate.
Delicious treat. I enjoyed it after dinner to relax and as an alternative to a chocolate dessert.
This tea was OK - some chocolate flavor, but nothing like I was hoping for. Perhaps it will pair well with another tea.
I will never NOT enjoy a flavored Pu Erh. That being said, the chocolate gets a little lost against the chai spice. The cinnamon is especially very forward in smell and taste. The Pu Erh serves as a good base, with a nice smooth taste and undercurrent of its characteristic earthy, musty flavor rounding it all out. Adding a bit of honey and oatmilk helped bring out the chocolate flavor a little bit, but overall it was not as pronounced as I would have expected or preferred. Still, this a very enjoyable tea and a solid chai option.
Just the right amount of chocolate with just the right amount of spicy-ness from the chai. Delicious!
Like others have said, this doesn't have a strong chocolate flavor, but that's not a bad thing. The earthiness of the pu erh really complements the chai spices and that ending note of chocolate really rounds everything out for a unique sip.
One of our new favorites! Love the hint of chocolate taste.
Very very spicy strong on the ginger great sweet treat day or night
It smells good and tastes good but I prefer one of the others I have on hand. To me it doesn t seem finished, having said that, next time I want to try it with milk or honey
Brewed 5 minutes at 212F with rock sugar added.
The scent is mostly of cinnamon bark. The brew itself is a delicious cinnamon forward chai. I'm not getting many chocolaty notes, but this tea is delightful non the less.
Next time I plan to make a latte with it.
I've had bad experiences with Pu Erh from the fermenting process which can really taint the flavor for me. But the chocolate goes a long distance in covering that for me. Greatly prefer this to the standard Chocolate Chai.
This is one of my new favorites! A really lovely flavored pu-erh, sweet without any sweetener, and perfect for dipping biscuits.
Loved this! Vibrant chai spice, with a nice, earthy base. Flavorful without being overpowering. I like chai, and pu her - great combo.
Good strong tea with delicious combination of chocolate and chai spices
An earthy chai flavor, different from your typical chai tea
Smooth chocolate flavor. I really think Pu Erh tea suppresses my appetite!
Chocolately and rich without being sweet, a nice earthiness from the pu erh.
Loved it! The spices had the perfect spice and the chocolate was noticeable but not overpowering
