Golden Monkey or Jin Hou is a famous single-origin Chinese black tea whose leaves are said to resemble monkey paws. Golden Monkey originates from the Fujian province of China and is hand-processed each spring with careful plucking of only one leaf and one bud. This Golden Monkey is sweet and very "nosy": savory roasted apples, palm sugar, walnut, cocoa, rye and spice notes that linger as you sip. Rich, coating texture and very smooth, soft mouthfeel are both signs of a quality Jin Hou. This is a very complex black tea and can be enjoyed in multiple infusions, a real treat for black tea lovers.

Lore
The Monkey King is one of China's most famous literary characters. Based on both Indian and Chinese culture, he's most well-known for his role in the 16th century novel Journey to the West. Strong, fast, magical, and an excellent fighter, he's the inspiration for characters like Son Goku from Dragon Ball Z, Wukong from the popular video game League of Legends, and has inspired countless other spinoffs and stories, including The New Legends of Monkey in 2018. Legend says he gained immortality through heavenly wine instead of tea, but we still think he'd enjoy a cup.
