A wonderful white tea! I mostly prefer teas with fruity and floral flavors, and this tea is lush with those flavors without feeling overwhelming.
White tea from Fujian, China. White Peony, also known as Pai Mu Tan, is a sweet, mild tea made from unopened tea buds, as well as the two newest leaves to sprout. Warm and floral like fruit blossoms. Golden liquor, succulent floral-fruit flavor.

A wonderful white tea! I mostly prefer teas with fruity and floral flavors, and this tea is lush with those flavors without feeling overwhelming.
This is an amazing white tea! It has the perfect lightness that is found in white tea with a very delicious and delicatly sweet flavor.
This tea has a very light, bright taste. It is not brassy. Perfect for a change, and great when serving rice dishes or tea sandwiches.
Love this flavor and I enjoy it both as a hot beverage and cold equally
Delicious! Very mellow and mild. Definitely a new favorite
Nice white tea. It has a smooth, and naturally sweet flavor profile with notes of honey, stone fruits like apricot and peach, and subtle floral.
Love drinking this tea in the afternoon has awesome notes of hay flowers some greens and nutty hints enjoyed at 176 Fahrenheit for around Four to eight min
Love this tea. A pleasant and light flavor. A great way to start your day if you don't want too much of a caffeine kick. It's also a nice to to just sip while reading a good book.
A delicate floral tea with increasing floral notes at lower temperatures. A very uplifting cup that has me imagining walking in late Spring/early Summer when the Magnolia trees are in bloom. A good cup on it's own, I can see this doing very well mixed with other teas, or even delicate flavored fruits.
Cold brewed in the fridge; didn't measure amounts.
If you have trouble getting any kind of flavor from white tea, but are afraid to raise the temperature in case you scald the leaves, try cold brew! Lovely honey- herb floral flavor, feels like drinking a garden.
This tea has a very mild but a little sweet flavor. Not what you want if you need jolt first thing in the morning. More for a relaxing cup a bit later. Like all the white teas if you leave it sit in the pot too long it oxidizes and becomes more like others. So just make what you will drink soon.
This is one of my favorites and go tos. I keep this on hand at all times.
Did not like this on. No flavor, i had to add much sweetener to taste something
Brewed at 185 F for four minutes. I tasted it at three minutes and it pretty much just tasted like hot water. At four minutes it developed into a subtle tea without bitterness. I added a little sugar. Very subtle, or weak tea, depending on how you see it. I like its gentleness and calming quality. Faint floral/fruity taste.
I love this tea. Smooth mouth feel, delicate green, not grassy at all. Almost of a steamed veg broth without seasoning. Far more pleasant than I had expected. No floral detected but a sweet almost fruitiness appears as the tea cools. I just love this blend. With it's low caffeine content this is a great tea to enjoy anytime of the day.
CommuniTEA review. Nope, no thank you. I don’t think I like much beyond black, green, and mate.
I wasn’t really a fan. I think it would be great blended with another tea, as someone else stated, but the flavor wasn’t much for me.
I never caught any floral notes or fruity either for that matter.
It was just a very mild flavored cup of water.

A very delicate, mildy grassy tea. I'm not sure if the unusual note I detected was Peony, or perhaps the white tea itself. I prefer a more assertive tea with a stronger flavor.
Very mild, which is to be expected of a white. Pleasant grassiness and surprisingly more full bodied than i expected (given i oversteeped it a bit). It's good but nothing I'd remember or reach for.
It has a nice flavor, but I much prefer stronger and caffeinated teas
Oh, this is a lovely one! And definitely a refreshing palette cleanser compared to yesterday's. This one is so simple, so light and sweet, it's impossible to go wrong. I followed the recommended brewing instructions, and at first sniff I was a bit worried that it might be bitter--but it wasn't at all! I'm eager to look into blends that include white peony. Definitely some of the gentlest and most delightful white tea I've had thus far.
3min @ 167. I ended up surprised by this tea and had to be reminded of what a white tea is like. The dry leaves smell sweet and slightly floral. Brewed, the scent is mild. The flavor washes in like a breeze, such a light flavor but still holds weight to it. It really is like an unexpected touch on the shoulder or hand, letting you know it's there.
CommuniTEA sample: 3 min @ 180, I've managed to get three infusions out of the sample of leaves. The first two infusions smelled especially floral, very sweet, almost honey like! In many ways, they reminded me of the aroma of very floral Darjeeling and golden Yunnan black teas, some of my favorites! Perhaps that set my expectations a little bit too high, because when I drank this, I felt it was lacking something. I do like the taste, but it's much weaker than what I expected, which makes sense since it is a white tea. It's still sweet, and I feel like it has a certain component that's almost like cucumbers, softly bitter, but refreshing. There's a very tiny bit of dryness that makes me just sip it more and more and before I know it the mug is gone! I personally would probably prefer more flavor, but it has some nice qualities to it, and I would happily drink it again!
This is a nice, light white tea. Smooth and refreshing with fruity notes.
UPDATE: 2025 I brewed this a bit longer, and this lovely light tea showed up and showed out! Exactly how a white tea should taste. The white peony has a sweetness with the very slightest hint of floral. Very good, very enjoyable!
I love the option of white tea because it's lower in caffeine, but it also has to have some flavor to it. This is a nice light tea, but impossible to describe because my cup was completely devoid of flavor. Even on the cool down I did not taste melon or any other kind of sweetness.
Nice floral smell, but I don't enjoy drinking it. It doesn't taste like something edible to me (as in, I don't find the peony plant to be food-like). It might be better for adding an aroma to something, but I don't want to drink a peony brew.
I prefer a dessert type of tea so this was not something I really cared for.
This has the sweet aftertaste I'd been reading about. It lasted a long time. I don't know exactly how long it was brewed or at what temperature; mom made it. She brews everything for 5 minutes with boiling water. I figure anything that can withstand mom's treatment is pretty good. I look forward to trying this again according to the instructions.
A beautiful white tea, so pale that it is almost clear. Very mild and almost earthy scent with just a light floral sweetness to it, but when it comes to the flavour, the floral qualities of this tea really take centre stage. It has a heady yet delicate floral taste which washes over the palate and lingers pleasantly at the back of the tongue after each sip.
The white peony tea has a delicate, light flavor that's incredibly smooth and refreshing. Adding a touch of honey enhances its natural sweetness and complements the subtle floral notes beautifully. Perfect for a gentle, morning cup!
It was very mild. So many reviews talked about hints of flavors or sweetness but I didn't get any of that, there was almost no flavor when I tried it without sweetener. I put half teaspoon of honey in it and it was a little better-it brought out some of the flavor. I'd get it again in small quantities but this would be a tea to drink with food or something when you don't wan't competing flavors.
What can I say?...this is a beautiful tea, and it has a beautiful taste! I am typically not a white tea drinker, but this one is lovely.
I do very much like the smell of this tea. It smells a lot like jasmine tea to me. it has a good floral taste, but it is /very/ light, to the point that sometimes I enjoy it for the smell more than the taste
Lovely! A great tea to mellow the mind and set the tone for your meditation session. This tea is light, soft, fragrant, and delicate but wants you leaving more. a perfectly balanced flavor that is airy and smooth.
Really delicate and light floral flavor but not underwhelming either. Basically the perfect balance for that type of thing.
Honestly somewhat underwhelming. Attempted to steep it at a lighter temperature (often recommended for delicate teas) and found it to be slightly bitter but extremely lacking in flavor. It was pretty good when cold brewed though.
One of my favorites to enjoy when I don’t want to have caffeine. Great with a bit of honey for sweetness.
This was my first experience with white tea, and I absolutely loved it! I prefer to have this in small amounts and drink it right after it brews.
A light tea with a beautiful, light and round flavor. Perfect for someone getting into tea or lighter flavors.
nice fresh floral and sweet tea. For summertime it would be a good ice tea / water like favoring type of beverage.
4/15/24 Communitea: Ah, White Peony, the workhorse of the white teas! So many blends use this tea as a base I have to respect it. On its own, it is a very mild and sweet tea with light, fresh notes. I'd compare it to a honeydew melon most of all, not just in flavor but also in purpose- perhaps not everyone's favorite on its own, but undeniably a part of something greater.
This is not my cup of tea. It was was a bit too grassy.
Light and lovely cup of tea. Perfect for cool spring day!
2 min @ 165. Nice light white tea. I think it will also be good iced. Good for a touch of caffeine. I don't always want strong flavors in my tea and this is perfect for those times.
Was a very light floral and fruity tea. It was well balanced, but just light on flavor
I think my larger bag of this tea is more flavorful than the sample I got. I like this tea it is light and the low caffeine of this one is nice for afternoon.
This is a great white tea with floral and fruity notes. Nice with honey.
I’m not sure what went wrong with this tea for me but it definitely wasn’t a pleasant experience. In the packet a strong savory smell, the tea was salty and tasted of onion. Might be good to those who like a savory flavor but I prefer sweet.
White peony is one of my absolute favorites to the point I was surprised it didn’t garner a 99! I feel like it’s soft and bright without grassiness and low enough caffeine for an afternoon pick me up. I find it better when the leaves aren’t broken, therefore I’d say go for larger bags as they don’t seem to get as beat up as the samples or communitea packets.
A delicate, gentle white tea with soft floral notes.
