Rooibos Customer Reviews

Rooibos, sometimes known as "Red Tea" (although not from the actual tea bush), is an herb that grows only in South Africa. Our rooibos is slightly fruity and smooth with a mild, herbal texture. Very forgiving - won't over-steep.

This rooibos tea is lovely! The flavor and aroma is robust and nutty. If you've never tried rooibos, it is similar to the flavor of taro with a vanilla-like roastiness

I really enjoy this Rooibos. This one is a good start. I prefer the various flavored ones and they offer a sample pack which is a great way to try them. Decent tea just wish it had a little more flavor.

I love the Rooibos because it has great flavor and is decaffeinated. I have purchased the large bag several times and will again in the future.

I love rooibos tea and it's tolerance for over steeping. This is my favorite for busy work days when I sometimes lose track of time. It's nice to know that no matter how long I've left it, I can anticipate a consistent flavor.

★★★★★

I love rooibos. It was so good. I tried it with honey and sugar and I think the sugar brings out the flavor more in rooibos

Always lovely at nights before bed. Smooth & relaxing, a great health benefit for hormonal symptoms.

This tea pairs well with a nice orange cranberry scone.

Was a good tea, probably one of my favorite if not the best so far. I always make my tea from my boiling pot. Sit overnight in pot. Then Boil for 5 mins. 1 liter add I liter of ice .

Rooibos can be hard to find a lot of times, especially good rooibos, but it is a favorite of mine and this stuff if great.

I love this rooibos tea! Bagged tea is typically okay but this has a depth l can't really describe with it.

Tastes like very vegital artichoke. Its not bad or repulsive, just a little weird. I will try to blend it with some other chi's that we have and I'm sure it will be fine. Very flavorful.

I just started exploring rooibos. What a wonderful surprise. Nice herbal - citrusy maybe? Medium body, great without sweetener, and no caffeine. Love it when I want something with a little more bidy than green tea.

This may be my personal opinion but Roobios don’t play well with others. By itself, it very soothing and relaxing. I just haven’t found a a Roobios combination I enjoy.

I like the mellowness of brewing at a slightly lower temperature, great for blends

This is not a bad tea. I think I just do not like Rooibos. The color is a beautiful wine deep red, but the tea itself tastes somewhat burnt to me. I can see how someone else said it reminded her of a cigar. I added sugar. 212F at 3 minutes.

I love rooibos tea! I usually like it in blends, but this was a delicious cup, too. I know some people find it too earthy, but I love how it's never bitter, even if you completely forget you were making tea and find it again half an hour later

I've had all kinds of rooibos before, so despite having lost most of my sense of smell and taste today, I can at least imagine what I'm missing. On its own I could still get those sweet earthy hints, but with a little honey and banana flavoring it's a bit like someone's waving a banana muffin in the other room. My rating is based off how it tasted pre-flavored, of course, to keep it fair.

Rooibos is wonderfully simple yet incredibly effective, especially for those struggling with insomnia. Lovely taste :)

★★★★★

This is a great, basic, original rooibos tea. It's very versatile and hard to mess up when brewing. I like making iced tea out of it. It is also good by brewing it in an espresso machine to make little rooibos shots

★★★★☆

On its own, rooibos tastes woody and slightly nutty, with a flavor reminiscent of pencil shavings. Fortunately it plays well with others – its greatest strength is being a background note to brighter or richer flavors, like lemon or cinnamon.

★★★★☆

Used 6oz I think this was a nice simple plain tea I liked it.

A pretty standard rooibos. When I go for a straight red rooibos without any blend, I really like the earthy, grassy rooibos flavor that many people hate, so I'm actually a little disappointed that there's less of it here than other red rooibos I've tried.

★★★★☆

This is a great plain rooibos tea. It tastes great iced or hot and is very refreshing either way it is served.

★★★★★

I love a classic rooibos tea. It has a nice mild flavor that is not overpowering. rooibos also works as a natural diuretic

★★★☆☆

CT sample: Although I do like rooibos like the cinnamon apple one and vanilla, this one on its own was earthy, woodsy, and almost… I don’t know… cigar like? Not in an unpleasant way but just not for me.

I liked this tea. I’ve tried it plenty of times in blends and enjoyed it but it was just as good by itself, even better than some that I’ve tried. It’s not bitter at all and has a pleasant sweetness to it. I would happily have this tea again.

I think I prefer my Rooibos mixed with other flavors. I love the beautiful reddish color, I'm not sure about plain without Whipped Vanilla Honey. Perhaps I'll try again when I am more relaxed. I do feel stress changes my taste buds response.

CommuniTEA sample, 5 min @ 212F: I really like rooibos tea! I know people describe it as tasting like medicine, and it does to a degree, but I think it also has woody, sweet notes that remind me of vanilla and bourbon. It also has some similar notes in appearance, smell and taste to black tea without being caffeinated. The one downside is the leaves are small, messy, and easily end up in the mug and they don't feel good on the tongue.

Slightly nutty flavor. Almost like an unsalted peanut. I add honey to give it a better taste.

Rooibos is one of those teas that I know is divisive but I like it quite a bit especially when used for blends. It's really good on its own though. The flavor is smooth and robust.

This is so much better than I expected. I love rooibos, but have only had it flavored. The straight rooibos with some sugar had much deeper tones with some fruitiness than I expected. It has a soft earthy flavor without an grassiness.

cant drink this. Will share it!

I'm just not a rooibos girl; there's nothing wrong with it, it's nice and mellow with a little honey but i always wish it was something else. I think I like it better as an ingredient in a blend.

Always a caffeine-free favorite. I usually drink this in blends, but that is because it's such a good base.

I'm afraid this was a hard no from me. I have found there are a few flavored red rooibos teas I can make drinkable but I just couldn't with this. When I opened the packet it was straight up tobacco scent, not even a sweet cigar type I've gotten from flavored rooibos, just like I had ripped open a cigarette. I'm sad that there is actually a tea I can't manage to get along with but straight red rooibos is it.

I love the naturally sweet full flavor of rooibos. It's very versatile and makes a great base for the addition of different flavors. It's also a good stand alone tea.

This is a golden standard. My husband loves red tea and this one does not disappoint. The leaves are very small and often float into the glass. So if you have paper or drawstring bags this is the best way for infusing tea if you don't like to drink your leaves at the end.

I enjoyed this tea My only other rooibos experience was with a vanilla flavored version (which I loved), so I wasn't sure how this one would fare 'naked' since others had expressed a dislike for this variety. Not my most favorite, but I wouldn't kick the leaves out of my cup in the future.

I use this for mixing my own teas. It’s really nice being able to get big bags of this.

Great tea for late evenings. Took some getting used to because it tastes completely different from "normal tea", but a little cream and sugar makes a wonderfully warm, comforting cup!

I drink this whenever I'm feeling an itch for a stronger tea at night but don't want to caffeinate, and I've been blending it with other fruity teas if I want something extra. I usually enjoy with a spoon of honey!
