This was a gift to my grandmother, and she absolutely loved it!
12.18.22 - Tried this myself in the CommuniTEA. 7+ minutes, 212°F. Another great roiboos blend - robust, delicious, and sweet. The pecan and chicory notes pair especially well with the sweeter, woodier notes of the roiboos. The cinnamon adds a zest which helps draw attention to the chocolate notes. Added a little extra cinnamon and dark agave for a really smooth, tasty blend.

I love the honey bush banana nut, so I was trying something similar. Really good for a change, but not topping my favorite any time soon.

A great dessert tea with the perfect nutty chocolate caramel mix. The color is a warm caramel. I got a sample and had to purchase a bag.

The chicory, cinnamon, chocolate and pecan flavors really shine with this rooibos tea. While I think a small amount of honey helps to bring out the flavor of this tea, it is also fine without added honey.

Personally I do not find rooibos to be an offensive flavor but it’s not a favorite. I typically find non-camellia sinensis teas like rooibos and honeybush lacking in flavor altogether in fact, which might work to its advantage here. With rock sugar the caramel pecan notes came forward in a way that might have been overshadowed in an actual tea blend.

I gave this one another try this year. I didn’t care for it last year so tried brewing it different this year in hopes of changing my opinion. It didn’t. I just don’t like red rooibos. I like the nutty side, but the caramel part comes across as too sweet and fake tasting. Not a blend I’d buy for my cabinet personally. (200° for 10 minutes)

Today's CommuniTea packet is rooibos pecan turtle with rooibos, apple pieces, cocoa nibs, cinnamon, dark chocolate chips, chicory, marigolds, and pecan, caramel and chocolate flavors. It was okay, but I think the caramel and chocolate would be even better with actual tea than with rooibos. I added some cocoa nibs to enhance the chocolate. The rooibos lovers among us will probably find it delightful. Brewed in 12 ounces of 200-degree water with about 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa nibs, for about four minutes.

CommuniTEA portion: 5 minute steep at 212. Fun sweet decaf tea. Nutty and sweet.

This was definitely better than I was expecting it to be. The caramel and pecan flavors do a good job to mask the medicinal rooibos flavor when you're actively drinking it, but for me it's still prominently there in the aftertaste. I added a little vanilla syrup and it helped a lot, but overall there are other dessert teas that I personally would pick over this one.

Tried as a CommuniTEA sample. This is surprisingly good for a red roobios blend. I don't normally like red roobios but it was toned down quite a bit by cream and sweetener along with a maple-like flavor. Not one I'd buy since they're not flavor profiles iI'm big on but it's pretty good.

I actually have this tea from an earlier purchase, and even with intentional analysis today, my main thought about this tea is still 'yeah, it's fine.' It has some nuttiness, it has the smoothness from the chocolate, so definitely go for it if you're looking for those flavors. I personally would reach for my other rooibos blends before it, though.

I enjoyed this sweet pecan, caramel, and maybe chocolate flavored tea. Since it still tastes like red rooibos, I wouldn’t make it a staple, but I would welcome another cup. I steeped at 205 degrees for 5 minutes and added rock sugar.

This tea has been a big surprise for me as I don't usually like red rooibos. The sweetness of rooibos is perfect in this dessert tea. It really tastes like caramel and pecans and is perfect for after dinner.

Tastes less like a turtle and more like a caramel walnut apple pie. I was able to taste this twice, once for the CommuniTEA and once in my twelve days of tea that my coworkers got me as a gift. It paired well with some pistachio cranberry apricot cookies gifted to me by one of my students!

Better than I thought I would like. I get more praline than turtle but most of the medical taste is not there. Lots of dough and some nuttiness. I will finish this cup.

It's good, but I would have preferred it without the apple, which overpowered the caramel and nut flavors.

I love this tea *almost* as much as I love the Rooibos Nutcracker. It's a similar flavour profile to me, just not quite as nutty. But I also enjoy the more prominent caramelly notes on this one! It's a winner, for sure!

In the bag: Mostly the red-orange of finely chopped rooibos. A few chocolate chips and apple pieces bring brown and yellow accents, respectively. Scattered bits of cinnamon bark and marigold flower.
On the nose (pre-steep): Pecan holds the center of the stage but not all of it. Even here in pre-steep, I get the classic wood of rooibos, which is unusual in flavored blends. Barest hints of apple and caramel. Slightly sweet.
On the nose (post-steep): Smells exactly like a dessert of toasted pecan and caramel. Maybe a bit of dark chocolate in the background. No more rooibos notes. Still slightly sweet.
On the tongue (pre-sweetener): Caramel isn't as intense here. Woodsy rooibos has come forward to share pecan's spotlight. I think the rooibos flavor makes the pecan taste toastier.
On the tongue (post-sweetener): The caramel is just a touch brighter. Other than that, no change.
Opinion: An excellent dessert tea, and caffeine-free to boot! This would pair well with any toasted dessert or chocolate. It also nicely showcases the pecan. Caramel was a bit lacking, however, so this turtle didn't truly mimic its food equivalent.
Preparation: 7 min @ 212 ℉, ½ tsp monk fruit sweetener

Earl Grey Lavender UPDATE: CT December 18, 2022 I don’t have much to add to what I have already said about this tea, except that I think I might have enjoyed this cup more than I did the first time I tasted it. The rooibos, caramel and pecan flavors really meshed well. Especially once it started cooling. I didn’t taste many of the other flavors but that may just be because I’m still not very good at that, or maybe my small CT didn’t have all the ingredients in proper ratio. Still it was quite enjoyable and I wouldn’t mind having it again. 4.75 stars from me.

Mild, pleasant aromas wafted out of the package upon opening. I think to rooibos and pecan were the most noticeable. All ingredients appeared to be present including several apple pieces and what looked to be dark chocolate chips.
Once steeped, I noticed a strong Rooibos flavor and some lighter pecan flavors. Tea sugar brought out some of the more hidden flavors, intensifying them—but the rooibos was still the most potent. The fruit flavors weren’t noticeable to my untrained pallet, but I did enjoy the tea very much. It was smooth and delicious. I wish there was a way to give half stars. I’d give this a 4.5.
I steeped for 5 minutes @212* in 12 oz of water. I used tea sugar to sweeten.

I’m not normally a rooibos fan, but this one is more than tolerable. The pecan, chocolate, and caramel somewhat mask the rooibos. With a touch of sugar added it tastes like a turtle. I added some cream at the end, which was a mistake; it’s perfect with just a little sweetener.

I was hoping this tea would lean more to the pecan earthy side but there was a bit more of the standard rooibos cinnamon-like taste. Definitely not a bad tea but not as distinctive as I would have preferred. Might be better as a serving tea during the fall when those pumpkin spice fans come out in droves

I can’t get enough of this. My favorite rooibos tea! I wasn’t the biggest fan of roobois before, and usually preferred to opt for honeybush. But the natural roobois flavor goes sooo well in this dessert blend. It satisfies my evening sweet tooth.
