Today's CommuniTEA roobios caramel was very smooth, naturally sweet, and mildly flavored. Quite good!

I really dislike rooibos. This tea tastes like rooibos with a mild hint of caramel flavor.

★★★☆☆

I like rooibos teas, but the thing about them is that they already have a tendency towards having a chemically aftertaste. So any time you add a flavoring (whether it's labeled as 'artificial' or 'natural' seems to be irrelevant), it runs the risk of giving the tea a strong chemical aftertaste. I prefer rooibos blends that are restricted to fruits, flowers, herbs, or other teas rather than flavorings.

That said! The caramel flavoring in this tea doesn't leave as much of a yukky aftertaste as I anticipated, and the rooibos was showcased nicely.

Overall, this is better than I thought it would be, but still not a tea I'll probably ever order.

Rooibus is a hit or miss with me. I generally don't care for the aftertaste. This particular flavor is hit. Smooth, tasty, nice caramel flavor when I added a little honey and half and half. Note: received this in my CommuniTea pack.

A sweet, woody, and slightly sour smell from the red rooibos packet. I made a latte with this, adding some foamed milk, cinnamon, and maple syrup. For rooibos fans, I’m sure this is a great tea with caramel highlights! Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of rooibos unless it’s in blends, but this was not bad at all!

Tasty caffeine free tea. The caramel flavor becomes stronger after the tea cools down a bit.

This was nice CommuniTEA flavor but the caramel was not as prominent as I would have liked. Still a good sipper, possibly better in a blend. I brewed this for 4 -6 minutes (lost track of time) with 212F water.

There is not a lot going on here, so it is very red rooibos forward. The caramel provided a nice aroma and a little bit of sweetness, but sat in the background. This combo works better for me than rooibos mixed with fruit flavors, but it is still not my thing. (reviewed through CommuniTEA; 5 min @ 212F)

Tasting along with the CommuniTEA today: Caramel scent noticed from the dry ingredients. When I steep as recommended, I get a rich caramel and rooibos essence on the nose. When I take a sip, I get a complex rooibos with perfume of caramel with a buttery finish. This is a pretty straight, forward tea that tastes as advertised. A nice dairy free alternative to the real thing when you're craving something buttery and sweet.

The caramel is pretty weak, but if you are looking for a caffeine-free option this will hit the spot. just add a little sweetener to bring out more of the caramel flavor. I sampled this tea as part of the CommuniTEA March box.

If you like red rooibos then I'm sure you will love this tea. I think red rooibos tastes like wood chips, so this tea tasted like wood chips with some caramel flavoring.

★★★★☆

Nice rooibos flavor. No bitterness or astringency. Not much caramel flavor although the aroma is nice. Sweetener might have enhanced the flavor, but I never add it, so can't say. Very smooth.

I received a single portion of this tea as part of the CommuniTEA box. As such, the blends may be unbalanced. Regardless, on with the review.

The tea within the packet looked to be a fairly usual and standard rooibos tea. However, along with the usual woody scent of the rooibos, there was the dark-sweet scent of the caramel flavoring alongside it. Now, I'm usually not a fan of the caramel flavor (I find it tends to make teas taste more like coffee than anything else), I was interested in seeing how it would blend with the rooibos flavor.

I steeped this tea for five minutes with 212 degree water. This resulted in a reddish-orange, clear tea that smelled of the woody rooibos and sweet caramel. Nothing unexpected, and the taste was interesting. It's exactly as if you added caramel to a rooibos tea. The woody of the rooibos compliments the darker aspects of the caramel, allowing the two to blend remarkably nicely together without fighting as caramel can do with other teas. Adding sugar to it helps to brighten the flavor across the board, allowing for a nice tea to enjoy.

Overall, a good tea that's enjoyable. It's not my favorite, as no rooibos tea is my favorite, but it's certainly not bad at all.

Based on the CommuniTEA packet: Not a big fan of rooibos tea but the caramel did make it a little better.

★★★★☆

This tea was much 'heartier' than I expected being an herbal tea. Full of flavor of both Carmel and Roobios.

★★★☆☆

I'm not a huge fan of rooibos tea, I'm not sure why but surprisingly this tea was ok. Just a hint of caramel it was not over powering.

★★★★☆

This is a nice, straightforward tea. It's a sweeter tea with a strong undertone. Makes a nice go-to tea when I don't feel like I want caffeine.

Received in my communitea packet. Really not a fan of rooibos and the Caramel flavor didn't improve it for me.

★★★☆☆

This one was a meh for me. The rooibos was not as prominent as other red rooibos tea blends. I could still taste that medicinal flavor but the caramel helped overshadow some of that rooibos flavor. I added some cream and sugar and that helped a bit.

Confession: I enjoy rooibos for what it is, so if you don't enjoy the woody rooibos flavor, this will not be your cup of tea. The caramel flavor in this packet is a nice compliment to the woody tones of the red rooibos, and is very similar to the base flavor profile of the Hugs & Kisses valentine's blend (without any of the additions). Rooibos can take a beating, but I steeped at boiling (212) for 5 minutes and received a cup that resembled a caramel, but wasn't overwhelmingly sweet or artificial. I can see this working as a good base for blends since it would give a nice background to tie everything together.

I like this one. It is nice to have tea on hand that doesn't have caffeine. I enjoy it with a splash of milk and some milk foam.

I don't really taste much caramel at all, just the suckerpunch of rooibos that tends to drown out every other flavor.

A sweet fragrance when smelling the dry tea. I steeped at 212°F x 5 minutes. I sweetened with a little maple syrup and macadamia nut creamer, which further enhanced the caramel flavor. The rooibos flavor is still in the background, which I think adds a nutty depth to the flavor.

The caramel flavor was really good in this one, but the rooibos ruined it a bit. Would be good in a blend.

I got somewhat of a caramel smell in the tea leaves but got no caramel taste from the liquid. But the tea is definitely a rooibos tea. I have yet to taste the caramel flavored black tea. This didn't do it for me.

The add ins and flavorings never seem to do it. Rooibos tastes like sawdust no matter what else you do. Definitely not my favorite

★★★☆☆

If I didn’t know this had caramel flavor, I’d assume by the taste that it’s plain rooibos. The caramel is pretty weak, more of an aftertaste. I didn’t add sugar since I’m avoiding it, and fake sugar is even worse for you. It might be better that way, but I’ll never know. It’s not bad, but not what I would choose, especially if it needs sweetener to taste the caramel.

Shhhhh...Yup Im a fan of Rooibos, and I must confess, enjoy reds especially, I know it’s an inquired taste for sure. 💁🏻‍♀️ Ohh but it smells so Gooey and delicious as it steeps 4mins @195F. Alone a smooth cuppa tea, with each sip you can really taste the caramel! As today’s communiTea photo shows, last tonight those wee little leprechauns🍀 had an Irish Shenanigans & drank today’s packet. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤔 That being said, thank goodness, I actually keep a hidden bag in my tea drawer, main reason I like to mix caramel with other teas especially chocolate chip, creme. Love this tea, simple, smooth, caramel goodness, and very comforting tea, try some you won’t be disappointed.

Wasn’t overly excited for today, as am not a huge caramel fan, but am more than willing to give things a try at least 2-3 tries before giving in. I’ve found most Rooibos I’ve tried to be enjoyable, but it’s been limited so far. But not the same can not be said of caramel, so I knew today could be hit or miss.

I was pleased with the aroma as am not a fan overly sweet/sugary and this wasn’t. It had a nice freshness to it with more of a subtle hint to the sweetness it was promising.

Overall it was a smooth tea, not overly rich which I appreciated greatly but was also a bit on the blander side. The color was beautiful, and I brewed it at 205° for 5min. I did find there was quite bit of subtle aftertaste which was a surprise, and I’m not sure if that is the Rooibos or not. I tried a little milk and even a bit of honey to see if I couldn’t bring out a little more something, but I think Carmel is just not my taste.

I love rooibos tea, and this flavor is sweet and tasty! Brewed 4 minutes at 200F. A bit of stevia and a shake of creamer added. Lovely caramel goodness with that rooibos herbally woodsy flavor in the background. mmmmm!

Doesn't matter how much you jazz up a rooibos tea I just can't get on board even though caramel is my fav.

Rooibos tea was noted inside my communiTEA packet. Mild sweet woody aromas were present.

When hot, a deep red brew was noted inside my mug. Woody flavors were mild. I couldn’t quite pick up any caramel flavors yet. I added ⅜ teaspoon of sugar to bring out the caramel and hopefully mask woody flavors.

When warm, buttery smooth caramel flavors were strong! Woody flavors were moderate and in the background.

At finish, a pleasantly chewy and flavorful mouthfeel of soft caramel candies was noted! This tea would be a definite plus for use in other blends. As a side note: I think that adding sugar is very important in the awakening of added flavorings. (5 mins @ 212ºF, ⅜ tsp sugar)

The caramel lends itself well to the red rooibos. I was afraid they would be too much together, but this blend was surprisingly good, with a lot of savory notes. I liked it without creamer, but I liked it even more with it.

I'm one of the people where the taste is red rooibos is just not appealing at all, especially when it's the primary ingredient in a blend.

This tea is very intriguing. If you are familiar with the Chronicles of Narnia, this tea is what I imagine a tea made out of the fruit of the toffee trees from the Magician's Nephew would taste like. It's caramel-ish, but if caramel was a fruit.

For rooibos fans, this herbal tea is nicely balanced with the flavor of caramel. The warm and subtle caramel perfectly compliments the characteristic woody flavor of red rooibos to make this cuppa a very satisfying and smooth one. It’s a great bedtime tea as it has no caffeine and its earthy rich taste generates a mellow feel to instantly relax you.

This is a great flavor to mix with other tea blends too, adding that extra buttery burnt sugar note. I like to brew rooibos at 200F for about 5 minutes. If you forget the time, it is very forgiving if you don’t pull the steep on the dot. There is no bitterness or astringency to worry about which makes it easy to brew. The resulting red liquor after steeping is especially delicious with a bit of honey or sweetener added. I find this intensifies the caramel flavor making it richer. This flavored rooibos also takes a dairy add nicely. This is a regular go to tea for me to enjoy anytime and I like having a few basic flavored ones in my cupboard of caramel, vanilla and chocolate. They’re great tasting individually and even blended together in different ways too. It’s a bit like having a little black dress in your closet ready to go anytime.

I was very worried about this when I opened it up. It smelled very medicine-like to me.
I would usually take one sip and pour it out when it comes to a Rooibos. But it might be growing on me.
I was able to drink half the cup.
At first, there was a slight Caramel flavor, with a hint of a woodsy nutty flavor.
But the more I drank the more the wood flavor came out. :(

CommuniTea review: First I have to say...I am not a red rooibos fan. I am a green rooibos gal. I added Adagio's rooibos honey...just a little. I found it to be ok...I mean I drank the cup...it didn't end up down the drain.😏 It had a sweetness on it's own, but I think the honey brought out the caramel.

This one did not do it for me. There is a 'hint' of caramel flavor, but I wasn't terribly impressed.

I like this rooibos, but not as much as I thought I would. I am usually a huge fan of the underlying caramel flavors, but this one didn't shine through as much. I prefer the Rooibos vanilla and Rooibos Jasmine. It's still very tasty, but not as good as some of the others.
