Honeybush Customer Reviews

Honeybush is a sibling of Rooibos, cultivated in South Africa's Eastern Cape region. Its flowers smell of honey, earning this plant a sweet name. Our honeybush is sweet, gently roasted and fuller-bodied than rooibos. Clean and refreshing.

I'd never tried honeybush before, and as others have said, it's a delightful alternative to rooibos for blends without the sort of dry, astringent aftertaste. Very mild on its own

★★★★★

Ended up liking it more than I thought it, it’s a simple staple with honey notes.

This is one great tasting tea. I definitely will be ordering a full size next time. I wish i would have ordered more

★★★★★

Okay on it’s own, but PHENOMENAL to blend with. My preference is to blend it with spiced fruity herbals to balance the flavors

Honeybush is not a 'tea' I'd ever drink on its own but IS useful in blends. I opt for honeybush (usually in combo with other teas) as a substitute for red rooibos which I detest.

I love the true taste of honey bush without any added flavor.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm a fan of honey bush teas, and this didn't disappoint. I enjoy that honey bush is a sweeter tasting tea, to my palate, and can often be enjoyed black. I could also imagine this being nice as an iced tea with added slices of lemon.

A very good light tea without tannin. Lends itself for also creating your own blends, e.g. Honeybush/ Jasmine.
I have have totally switched to Honeybush teas in general and order all the flavors, available here, on a regular bases.
Honeybush tea has done wonders for my heart condion and I am almost symptoms free now.
I wish there would be even more flavors available here. Therefor I am happy, that there is plain Honeybush tea available, so I can experiment with new blend creations.

This seems like it would be better as a base for other teas. It's got some nice warm flavor to it but it isn't rounded enough to stand on its own well.

apparently I've never had honeybush straight up, it has some underlying flavors that aren't appealing tome, an almost mintyness hits me, or pine!?

This was a nice, light herbal tea. I feel like it would be better with some sort of flavoring.

Andrea: Fruitier than I expected. I realize now that I haven't had honeybush plain before. Very tasty (though I still prefer rooibos) and easy to blend with in herbals. Red fullness to the flavor similar to hibiscus without the acidity. I added just a touch of brown sugar to round the flavor. We drank half the cup, then added a splash of whole milk. It brought forward an almost spice aspect to the flavor. Lovely herbal with brown sugar, but becomes a warm hug in a cup with whole milk.

Lynn: Smells like dried leaves in the fall. Complex and deeply red with a the brown sugar. The milk rounds the flavor without covering any of it. Unlike with other teas, it seems even more nuanced as a latte. A tiny touch of mace on top would finish this latte beautifully.

The legend, the base of so many wonderful teas. The honeybush was absolutely delightful

★★★★☆

I absolutely love flavored honeybush teas, but by itself I think it may be a little too mellow and just barely gets that 4th star from me. It does have that nice natural sweetness as always with a little woodsy backdrop. I think I even get a hint of smoke while it is hot, but it fades fast. Texture is smooth and slightly creamy. This is by no means a bad tea, I just think it works phenomenally better in blends or just when flavored as it is strong enough to still lend its own spin while not so bold as to overtake anything added to it. 212° 5 min

We are fans of teas that are blended with Honeybush before, we thought it would be “plain” tasting on its own, but it’s good!

★★★☆☆

Honeybush on its own really does taste like a sweet roobios tea. The tea packet is a lovely mahogany color that lives up to its namesake. Though the aftertaste reminds me of tomato juice somehow.

CommuniTEA sample: 5 min @ 212 F. I found it to be very light, slightly sweet, reminding me of berries and something slightly medicinal. It's not as medicinal or woody as you might expect from red rooibos, but otherwise it's a fairly similar flavor. I enjoyed my first infusion more than my second, but it was still strong enough that it was worth having!

Slightly viney scent with a warm and slightly sweet flavor. It was a very good herbal and makes sense as a base for blends.

Can’t drink this one - only like it in blends not alone

★★★★★

Cant go wrong with the classics! I’ll be honest, it’s still hard for me to taste a difference between rooibos and honey bush, but I love them both all the same!

Edit - as time has gone on, I feel like I can finally detect some differences between rooibos and honeybush. Rooibos has a hint of menthol flavor and a slightly earthy quality while honeybush is smooth and honey-sweet.

I'm not sure how to rate this. It's good but I wouldn't drink it alone only in a blend. I actually love the sweetness of it but it's just unappealing solo.

I had never had honeybush by it’s self so I didn’t know what to expect but this tea was really good.

★★★★★

This tea has a really nice flavor, I really like it as an iced tea with a bit of lemon and sugar. It's a staple to have in your tea cabinet.

I wanted to try honey bush tea on its own without added flavors and really enjoyed the natural nuttiness

For health reasons, I need to be mindful of the tea I purchase. Honeybush was recommended and so happy with what I tasted.

I love the delicate flavor of this tea. Recommended by my daughter and she did not steer me wrong. One of my favorites so far.

This one is my favorite rooibos tea and a perfect afternoon sip. I like it with milk, but don't add sugar.

Another great tea for my sister who can't drink green or black or add sugar. A nice changeup from the rooibos she drinks.

Although this is not a tea I would recommend to drink without any additions such as sugar or milk it is still a good quality honeybush

Honeybush is super delicious. Great nighttime tea if you have a sweet tooth. i put monkfruit in mine to add sweeteness! Sometimes a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond milk 🥛 😋

Honeybush has a sweet, slightly grassy flavor alone, but in my opinion it's best used as a base layer for adding other flavors. It was good with brewing cacao and cinnamon, and with lemon peel and cranberry powder.

★★★★★

My husband really loves it, he can't have caffeine anymore and is happy to have found an alternative.

★★☆☆☆

Sweeter than rooibos but I just can’t get into it.

Great Plain Jane honeybush by itself, but can be elevated with any cream-based honey. This honeybush can also be combined with other honeybush teas to increase the presence of the honeybush.

★★★★★

Really enjoyed this tea. Similar to rooibos but with a lighter, sweeter taste. I mixed it with Blood Orange for a custom blend and it is excellent. Alone or in a blend it is great.

This is an old favorite of mine which is still fantastic. I love it on its own, or mixed in with another tea or flavor to mellow it out and add some honey aroma. It doesn't taste or smell exactly like honey, but it's close enough to be very pleasant. Someone also sent me a sample of honeybush vanilla, and that one had an amazing vanilla-honey flavor to it which enhanced the sweetness.

I steeped it generously, and... it was fine! Not the best thing ever, but I enjoyed it.Probably won't get it again.

I like honeybush. There's a slight sweetness to the smell. I steeped for 5 min @ 212 then let it cool completely. It's very easy to drink and would be a great caffeine free iced tea.

For a plain Jane tea this is really good. All the flavor of a black tea without the caffeine.
