A nice spicy chai tea with the unique profile of ph-erh
I opened up this package of tea and it smells so wonderful and tastes really good too. May have to buy a larger amount next time.
I now have this one on auto delivery.
This tea has a very smooth taste to it! easy to sit, almost a silky texture to it. The spice isn't overpowering, one of my favourite teas.
I had a cup of this spicy little number yesterday and today. The spices were well blended but not bland. I’m fairly new to pu-erh teas, but really enjoyed this one. First cup I had with drizzle of honey, and the second I brewed a little stronger and added pinch of sugar and spot of milk. It was simply delicious, and I look forward to further tastings.
Spice is the right term to use, while my tongue can't identify the flavors on its own, it's reminiscent of a warm winter evening.
This is a great alternative to the more common black chais from Adagio; I've found that those can become acrid and bitter surprisingly quickly, but this one never gets those unpleasant flavors. This is really spice-forward and is excellent for helping to clear early morning fogginess. The earthy pu-erh flavor is a great balance with the spices and the orange is a lovely subtle complement that balances everything. This is quickly becoming a standard tea in my pantry.
Updated review: I don't know if the recipe changed or my palate did, but as of 2025 this no longer seems as spicy as it used to. But I still enjoy everything about it I did previously. I now make a superpowered chai using this, the Raja Oolong Chair, and the Sweet Cinnamon Spice, and THAT is definitely the spice level I'm looking for.
A Pu-Erh I like!
I get orange, mixed with sweet cinnamon and subtle spice. I’ve liked this one in a blend before, but this is the first time trying it on its own. Very good
Scent is rich with cinnamon and ginger, as is the taste. Still very mellow flavor. Didn't notice the orange flavors much.
I have never had a spiced pu-erh tea before. I love the earthy pu-erh teas and this blend was enjoyable, but I feel like the spices sort of hide some flavors I like. I taste ginger and cinnamon with some all spice flavors. I didn't pick up anise in the bunch. I did notice the orange gives it an interesting, but not unpleasant aftertaste. I think there are other spiced teas that will take the slot in my stash, but I am glad to have tried this one. Would like it more if the earthy notes of the base were more of a presence. 212° 5 min
I love the sweet spice, and the soft pu-erh underneath. It makes for a robust, delicious cup, that I want to repeat regularly
I should say right off that I am not a fan of pu'erh. I can never get past the scent of rancid mushrooms and bitterness. However, keeping this in mind, I didn't hate this tea. The spices made it tolerable, almost enjoyable. To me it was just OK, but surprised myself since I have such a strong dislike for pu'ehr.
I adore pu-erh so this was just what the doctor ordered. It was earthy and rich and I greatly enjoyed it.
Thai tea has a wonderful mixed spice aroma when opened. It has a very balanced spice taste. This is my favorite chai type tea so far.
The flavor starts off sharp but good, similar to chai. Then it smoothes out and has a delicious sweet taste to it. Very good, especially on a cold day.
I think I've tried every spiced tea at this point, but usually, the tea in the blend is a bright and intense one. The pu-erh being malty and mellow really compliments the spicy bright flavors here. Surprisingly excellent.
CommuniTEA sample: 1 min @ 212 F. Successive infusions at 2 min, 3 min, 4 min @ 212 F. I really like the earthy, savory, mushroom kind of flavor that you get with a good Pu-Erh tea. The first cup focused primarily on the cinnamon, whereas later cups leaned more into the Pu-Erh flavor profile, being more earthy and funky, very much like a good, rich mushroom broth. I found that the aniseed kind of floated towards the back, and it wasn't really present, whereas the ginger was present, and provided a little bit of tingliness, as described, without overpowering any flavors. If the Pu-Erh is the star of the show, then the orange is the costar, citrus and Pu-Erh, they're a classic pairing. It brings out a freshness to contrast with the earthiness, a little hint of sweet and tart. It’s a very heavy, smooth body if you let it steep for the full time recommended (and even my third infusion, for three minutes, was heavier than most black teas), and it has a bit of a dusty mouthfeel to it. I did not rinse the leaves, which is often done for Pu-Erh. I wouldn't recommend this tea if you don't like some of those earthy, savory flavors, but if you want to explore more into Pu-Erh teas, this might be a good place to start, especially if you do like Chai.
Pu-erh teas are unfortunately not my cup of tea.
This is a very mellow and comforting cup of pu-erh. I did no pre-rinse, and I am glad I didn't. I really enjoy the spicy kick of this tea. I cook with ginger often and love the 'ginger tingle' I get with this tea. I get notes of anise as well. This could be a regular tea for me.
Very good for hot tea in the mornings. Good value and quality.

This tea is lovely during cold evenings when you want something festive and warming. The cinnamon is not too pronounced and it has the nice rich pu'erh taste underneath.
I used to like this, but find it a little sharp now. I prefer the pu-erh Dante.
One of my new favorites. The spice and orange notes pair perfectly with the earthy smooth flavor of the tea.
I definitely get the anise note, so if you like that, this will not disappoint. For my personal taste, I wish it was just a little less forward, but it's a good cup nonetheless.
This isn't my favorite tea on its own, but I do enjoy it in certain blends. I like cinnamon flavoring plus cinnamon pieces and cloves better than spice flavoring and aniseed. Still, if all the teas were identical, blends wouldn't be much fun or tasty for that matter!
I bought this as a birthday gift for a dear friend. She absolutely loves it. Me, not so much. But, I'm rating it based on her reaction to it.
This is my first puerh. It is probably not the best idea to get this 'potent' tea as one's first puerh. It's dark, it's smokey, it's spicy -- not like hot pepper/ginger spicy, more like 'this tea has a lot of spices!' A very strong cinnamon flavor and a sweet after taste, like how it feels like if you munch on a cinnamon stick. Not bad overall.
One of the better Pu-Erh blends, in my opinion. The spices are a nice departure from my usual black/breakfast tea fare.
A fantastic brew, keeps me warm at night. Nothing bad to say about it, it speaks for itself. I particularly enjoy the aroma.
Is ok, not great for me. I barely taste anything maybe I need to add more than a teaspoon? I will not be ordering this one in the future.
Okay, but there was something kind of 'meh' about the taste. Not a real dislike, just not a real like either ... I think I expected a more robust amount of spice in this.
Rich and gentle. Not as strong as a chai, but just as cozy and warm.
Unbelievably delicate spice blend. I found this tea so smooth to the mouth. My CommuniTEA sample packet gave me a bit more anise and less of citrus presence. There was no bitterness or fishiness in my sample. Since I love a great Chai I might try this with cream and a touch of honey in the coming Autumn season.
Sampled this with CommuniTea and it was amazing. I had a head cold coming on and it was just the right amount of spice to cut through my diminished taste/smell and soothe my sore throat. Looking forward to having it again when I’m back to 100%. Steeped 5 mins at 200°
2024: The perfect spice with this tea!
2023: A nice tea with a mellow spice flavor. Enjoyable for a chilly day.
This is a favorite tea of mine. The aroma was inviting before I steeped it. The spicy scents were strong. It was mild and soothing. The blend of cinnamon, anise and ginger was just right for me. It highlighted the cinnamon most for me and hints of anise and ginger. Perfect tea for a chilly day like tonight😊
No mineral taste with this Puerh when I did a quick rinse. Lovely flavor with the added spices.
A nice warming brew. I enjoyed the mix of flavors.
A general spicy scent comes from the dry leaves, but the brewed tea is interesting. Pu-erh has a fishy/savory flavor, and I can note that scent and flavor in the tea, but it quickly turns into a sweet, cookie like flavor with a pleasant spice.
Edit 5/8/24: I stand by my previous review of this tea! The flavor is so complex and warm and wonderful!
This is my kind of tea! Rich, warm and hint of spice. Love the slight orange taste. Would love this on a cold evening around the holidays. It is not overly 'spicy' with subtle flavors, love this tea!
I am really enjoying this tea this morning. I added some simple syrup and some extra orange peel to the steeping. It's a nice blend of pu-erh tea and spice.
Puerh is my favorite tea and I was so excited to taste this. This tea is a smooth chai blend with hints of orange. It's good with a splash of heavy cream.
Overall this was a good, flavorful cup of tea. I do think the other pu-erh options that I have tried were better.
I love a good pur ehr tea. THis one is very flavorful with cinnamon and other spices. Does not disappoint.
I don't think this tea could have gotten any better! The balance of the earthiness of the pu her, the spiciness of the spices and the sweetness of the orange transform me into a cozy sweatshirt in the cooler months. It reminds me a bit of spiced apple cider. Yum yum!!!
Pu-erh spice isn’t bad tea but I prefer pure pu-erh
I will try this again and steep it at the recommended temperature and see if I like it more.
There isn't much flavor. I added teaspoon of stevia and some vanilla creamer and now I am not sure if it's the creamer I am tasting or the tea.
Even though ginger is not my favorite in tea, I thought the earthiness of the Pu-erh mixed really well with these spices.
Nice cinnamon an spice aroma, no fishiness from the dry tea. 2 min @ 212, no rinse. I could get a hint of the fishy aroma, but it wasn't enough to deter me from continuing. Nice spice flavor, not too much, and a smooth tea.
I nice spiced tea. The spices were well blended so one didn't stand out.
smells real nice! mixed it with a chocolate chai i had :)
