pleasantly surprised at how good this tea is, was not expecting it to be so good
Generously sized for teapot brewing, this extra-large pearl gives the term tea ball new meaning.

pleasantly surprised at how good this tea is, was not expecting it to be so good
Very earthy and delicious. A bit mild in flavor, but good nonetheless.
Wonderfully convenient fir brewing a pot of tea. Remember to rinse Up-Erh before steeping.
Been drinking this almost daily for several years. It's my morning go to. Really hard to over steep it. Really enjoy this tea.
We really like this tea. It's very comforting with frothy milk and very hot.
Not as earthy as some pu-erhs but delightful non the less.
I hadn't realized these were as big as they are - they're meant for a big 24oz brewer - but they're very tasty!
Kind of a mellow barnyard aroma and flavor. Perfect!
Similar to my experience with the poe, I don't taste enough of a difference between the pearl and the pu-erh dante for it to be worth the difference in cost. The pearls are fun, though, and it's still delicious tea.
Delicious and rich taste. I love how the pearls can be put straight into the pot and strained.
Update 3/23/19: This last bag of tea was a disappointment. I found lots of stems and 'not-tea' vegetable matter once the pearls opened. The flavor was okay, but not what I've come to expect. I'll be sticking with the loose Pu-Erh for a while.
Pu erh is one of my favorites -- earthy and calming and never bitter. The pearls have pretty much the same flavor as the loose pu erh but it can be a bit more 'wild', which is a plus for me.
I tried the recommendation of one pearl for one 24 ounce pot, brewed at 212 for 5 minutes. The resulting clear amber liquor was a cup of pleasant, mild complexity that would enhance any Chinese meal or simply be enjoyed as-is. That would have been fine, but I wanted something bold for my first morning cup - something that could stand up to the addition of milk and sugar. So I added another pearl and brewed it for another 5 minutes. The tea was very dark, almost black but smooth, without a trace of astringency or bitterness. Quite nice in fact, earthy with a touch of natural sweetness and a finish of elusive sassafras. Win!
One of my favorite teas, it is supremely smooth with an earthy depth to it. I'm trying the Pu-Erh Poe next.
When I read previous reviews that you can just leave this in a pot all day and the tea wouldn’t get bitter, I was skeptical. That is until this week. I had popped a pearl into my tea ball and plonked that into my traveler mug. The first 12oz was excellent and had a deep flavor. It was time for a refill so I put in another 12 oz of hot water. Then I got called away for several hours. When I came back the tea was hot and was exceptionally flavorful! It wasn’t bitter one bit and only deepened the flavor of the tea. Exceptional.
Great tea hot or cold! Can almost feel the healing
For lovers of pu erh tea, these shou (ripe) pearls are excellent.
Enjoyed the tea. The quality was quite nice, enjoyed watching the delicate pearls unfurl into a quaint tea
My wife loves this tea and the wonderful story of the origin on this style, steeped in the history of the ancient silk road.
If you like an earthy tea you'll love this.
Richer and brothier than the dante. The balls are convenient!
For a larger pot or just making two cups at once, this tea works wonders. It has quite a unique flavor, given that it is fermented. The two cups of tea that are made with these pearls taste quite different, with one being stronger than the other. The bottom cup is remarkably good cold, so it is something that I would recommend trying.
Very smokey and earthy flavor. It kind of reminds me of a less severe lapsang souchong tea. You can easily get several cups out of one pearl - I just keep refilling my mug with more hot water all day.
2 pearls in thermos at work. Add your water. Brew for 5 minutes. Woody taste, convenient form. Convenient and tasty.
This tea is certainly flavored with strong earth flavors, but is so smooth. I enjoy a couple cups of this daily!
I disagree that these pearls work for a full pot but they are great for a single serving.
From the deep red coloring to the slightly spicy taste this is one great tea. I really enjoy the fact one pearl makes 28 oz and it can be used for a second batch that’s just about as good. One of my favorites fro Adagio.
Earthy taste with a minor fishy smell. Worth trying, but I personally will not purchase again.
I like my tea strong, so it takes a moment for this one to reach the right flavor for me. However, once it gets there, it's a beautiful tea. Smooth flavor, and no matter how long it steeps it doesn't turn bitter.
I did not appreciate the taste, again this was a tasting sample and Pu-Erh is not my cup of tea.
This is my husband's go to morning tea. Nice rich pu-erh.
If you're into Pu-erh, this is definitely one to try!
Favorite tea for years now. This is our staple tea each morning. We make a pot and all of our children drink a cup before school. Smooth flavor, invigorating and healthy.
quite impressed, i enjoyed it, actually drinking it while writing this, it has a rich amber colour, don't leave it steeping too long as it gets strong fast, give it try
Update: starting to become a favourite
These pearls make a lot of tea. I like to make a large pot and it sets me up for the day.
Really smooth, earthy flavor. Kind of reminiscent of old wood if that makes sense. I don't find it earthy in the same way as something like grand keemum, but rather a more pleasant aroma.
Really surprised and delighted by this one highly suggest you pre rinse.
Smooth, dark and earthy ~ I love to brew this on the weekend where I can drink it all day long. Would highly recommend these pearls.
Wow, I've never had a tea quite like this before. Earthy, smooth, and never gets bitter no matter how long you steep it. I love this!
Make sure you read the instructions carfully. Once done correctly it is a pretty good cup of tea. Definitely worth trying.
Loved it! Creamy and earthy. Very smooth but flavorful tea.
I hate to say it, but this was only ok. It kind of just reminded me of the workhorse tea you use for Ice Tea that's more sugar than tea.
This tea honestly grew on me. I usually am not a fan of pure teas with no added flavors. I got a sample of this and the more I drank, the more I loved it. It's warm, earthy, and comforting. I just ordered a whole bag!
This is a Good tea. I will be ordering it again.
This is a very nice strong and bold tea, a tad on the bitter side. I did end up crushing the large balls so i could make smaller cups of tea.
Has a very earth almost like hay or a damp field in the morning smell/taste. Not in a bad way though. Can Brew over and over throughout the day without overloading on caffeine also.
great and natural weight loss aide. Also, visual stimulating when preparing.
Pu'erh is one of my personal favorites. Before I would go through international channels to get some, but these pearls are boss awesome.
The aroma of these pearls is a little offsetting at first. I thought it smelled a tad fishy, but the flavor is not.
Excellent Pu-erh, and brews a second time nicely. Pu-erh definitely has a taste to be learned, but if you like the pungent, earthy fermented brew, you will not be disappointed.
Beautifully rolled but I just can t bring myself to like pu-erh tea on its own. It is the perfect size for a tea pot and flavourful enough that it can be brewed several times. Classic pu-erh flavour, deep, rich and earthy. Tastes like the smell of soil with a high organic matter content.
Pu-erh is truly one of my favorite teas. The pears are unique.
