Smells like horse poo. This was my first (and last) ripe pu-erh.
Generously sized for teapot brewing, this extra-large pearl gives the term tea ball new meaning.

Smells like horse poo. This was my first (and last) ripe pu-erh.
These were excellent. Warm, earthy, a little malty, quite flavorful. We enjoy watching the pearls unfurl. Stand up well to multiple infusions; at least 4.
I loved this tea. The balls are cool. It is a full bodied tea and has a smooth finish. It holds up perfectly to multiple resteepings. I cant wait to have another cup.
Rich & earthy, these Pu-erh Pearls are perfectly portioned. I use 1 for a full cup, and 2 pearls with some milk if I'm feeling a little sluggish!
great tasting Pu-erh. No need to measure with these pearls. gives at least 5 steeps each.
Different from the regular Pu-Erh loose teat, with a robust flavor
These pearls are a rich, earthy scent and taste. I think the best part is that they re rolled into balls. If you give me a cleverly packaged tea, you have my attention.
Very good if you like woodsy teas, as a 6 year coffee and tea barista were trained to detect certain notes of flavor and aroma. This tea taste more like spinach than fishy, if I were to describe it perfectly to you I would say notes of mossy log and spinach, there is a slightly fishy taste to it but not too overwhelming. Not for the first time tea drinker as this tea is an acquired taste
One pearl makes a pot of tea, with multiple steepings. Earthy and woody!
I am looking for a replacement tea to pu-erh pearls i purchased elsewhere and are no longer available. They have met my expectations.
My favorite of the Pu-erh's so far. It has this woody flavor that feels great on a cool morning. Add a little honey or syrup with frothed milk and it's a really yummy latte.
Initial nose of leather, fall leaves, and milk chocolate from dry tea. Liquor is thick, reddish-brown, and opaque, with no astringency. Strongly peaty flavour when drinking, with a light lingering sweetness at the end. Resteeps well at least once more; have yet to try it twice. Not a beginner's tea, but excellent for an adventurous or developed palate. UPDATE: milk chocolate notes significantly more pronounced on second steeping. All steepings are good iced. First steeping very much complimented by a slice of lemon.
Great flavor, and bold enough for an entire pot of tea.
I have tried to like these and will finish the bag but probably will not reorder. If you like the taste of dirt, earth, and mushrooms this ones for you. I do not get the fishy flavor that others get.
The smell is very earthy and woodsy. The taste is very dark and bold and great if you're a heavy coffee drinker.
This is my first pu'er and it's really lovely. It has a damp, smokey, tobacco smell. It's hard to describe the flavor. It tastes very earthy like dirt, but in a good way. Not much body, no astringency, very smooth.
Quite good. Not as good as the black dragon pearls those are my all time fave.
I love watching these pearls unfurl to unleash their delightfully earthy flavors
Love these! Very earthy and fresh hay type flavor. I call this my 'coff-tea' because you can steep it so long it takes on the color of black coffee with out a tannin flavor that you would get with over steeping other teas. I can get at least 2 batches of good tea without loss of flavor from these. So far one of my favorites.
This tea is not a good introduction to Ripe Puerh tea. Funky and fish like flavor and smells cover everything else. Try Puerh Poe instead.
I purchased this for my roommate who is a big fan of Pu-Erh teas. When the sample arrived, we were surprised to find they're much larger than we expected and one pearl will make a full pot of tea! He's very excited to try them.
One pearl makes 2-3 pots of tea. I think next time I make it I will rinse first (to make the “fishy” smell and dirt flavor a little softer) and cut into smaller pieces bc that’s a lot of tea for one person to drink at a time. Great if you need to make tea for the whole day. Progressively mellows with each steep but a very pleasant black tea flavor is present each time.
Nice rich puerh, mineral, deep earthy, brewed going fu style and got many infusions
The pu-erh pearls have a fantastic and bold flavor!
I love this tea! It was nice to just pull a pearl out and start brewing. Pu Erh is great tea but sometimes I don't want to get a brick of tea and pick out and make a mess. This tea tase great, wakes you up and makes the Pu-Erh experience easy. I brewed this in my gaiwan. I steeped it a lot. I gave up before this Pu-Erh did. Great tea.
One of my favorites very earthly. It replaces my coffee intake.
Robust, smooth, tasty, dark, earthy- such a perfect, delicious tea. I was so pleasantly surprised at how easy this goes down. This is gonna be one
of my favorites of all time I can feel it already.
Pu-erh Pearls is one of my favorite teas. It has a smooth but robust flavor and so easy to use. I highly recommend it for those who really enjoy a simple black tea.
Delicious mild, dark, earthy flavor. I use two pearls for a large (~ 30 oz) teapot. Can be infused a few times.
I'm typically not a huge Pu-erh fan but I really enjoy this tea. Smooth rich flavor that I enjoy instead of coffee some mornings.
Nice and earthy flavor. Prior to steeping, make sure to rinse this for 30 secs with cold water to get rid of any fishy notes. This is a great pu-erh! I get four steeps from one pearl.
Something of an acquired taste, I'm thinking, but actually fairly lovely all the same. Second brewing played unexpectedly well with a hit of maple syrup instead of honey.
I enjoy these mega pearls. Two to three of them in my tea pot yield a delicious pot of Pu-erh.
This tea is very earthy. I steeped it a few times in a Gaiwan at 212F, in as little as 10 seconds, but I can't get over how earthy and soily it is. My wife suggested it's like drinking a rotting log, and she's not wrong - it has that funk to it. It's not a bad tea, and hopefully I'll update this review once I figure out how to actually make it a truly pleasant cup.
Delicious! As the balls steep, they unfurl and release new subtle flavors with each subsequent brew.
I love the idea of the tea “pearls.” And Pu-erh is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine. I love the mellow earthiness of the tea. It makes a nice strong cup of tea without any bitterness or excess astringency. I would love to get this in smaller pearls..I do have a 24 ounce teapot, but I rarely drink 24 ounces of tea, even in a whole day.
These are best if you steep them for a minute in hot water to rinse them and then steep them properly 3-5 minutes. I really like them when I mix them with an Earl Grey, but also nice solo, I love the mouthfeel of this tea, for some reason
Has a earthy meaty flavor. Must be an acquired taste. Convenient that the pearl is meant for 24oz, can steep in a pot for others.
I love the subtle earthiness of the pu-erh pearls.
Perfectly-sized portions for a small teapot. Beautifully inky-black. Has a bit of funk on the nose in the beginning, but mellows out all velvety on the tongue.
I first had pu erh tea almost 20 years ago, and I was surprised by how much I loved it. But, after trying Adagio's disappointing Pu Erh Dante, I was not in a rush to try another one from them. I finally decided to try this one, since it is compressed and I tend to prefer compressed pu erhs. I was pleasantly surprised.
Some reviews mention a fishy flavor. I tried, but was unable to detect even a hint of fishyness. I tend to make mine quite strong, and still don't notice a fishy flavor. Hopefully, that was just a bad batch that folks were reviewing and it doesn't pop up again.
Plain, this tea has a refreshingly simple, loamy flavor. I prefer it this way.
If you add sugar, the flavor dynamic changes a bit, bringing in a peaty or mossy flavor in addition to the loam. It's still quite good, I just prefer it the other way.
Interesting to watch unfold, this tea was very similar to the pu-erh dante loose leaf tea - not sure the pearl format was adding anythign other than visual appeal. Best made by the pot - the pearls are huge and provide a lot of flavor.
Smooth, deep, earthy pu erh goodness! Nice for a tea pot or very large mug!
Really good Pu-Erh. I like the pearl form factor as it seems to not overpower the flavor. Color is an interesting red/purple color which is odd but pretty cool. I wish the peals were a little smaller as i like making individual cups and these pearls recommended 1 pearl per 32 oz water. All in all a good tea.
Wonderful tea to take on the go. easy portion control
My very first pu-erh tea. The earthy flavor that was described by reviewers was absolutely spot on... love it!
This is my first dive into Pu-erh tea and I enjoyed it. The taste reminded me of fall leaves with a rain just starting to come down. I also got some tobacco notes and wet cedar. Its a comforting earthy taste and smell with some complexity. Adagio says this tea has a high level of caffeine but i didn't notice it at all. Like all teas i brewed it gung fu style. The texture is think which goes with the earthy base notes of the tea.
A very unique and delicious tea, dropping a pearl in my tea pot is easy enough and makes enough tea for several cups before re steeping the leaves.
A bit sweater than I was expecting, though that does not mean the wood and earth flavors are not there.
I have never had Pu-Erh tea before (to my knowledge), so I didn't know what to expect. This tea has kind of an earthy flavor. I used it in my tea tumbler that I bought on here and it was a fairly mild flavor, but not super mild. I like that I don't have to measure it (unless you use a smaller cup or something and maybe need to cut it). I re-infused a pearl yesterday and it was still about as good as the first infusion, maybe a little weaker. It's a good tea, but I wasn't sure if I liked it at first. I liked it more as I drank more of it. I'll most likely buy more of these in the future.
Beautiful puerh pearls. High quality. Would be great for tea ceremony. Puerh has that warm depth to it in-between black and green.
