When I first tried this tea, I didn't care for it. So, I tried to wake it up with some mango. The mango brings out the other notes lurking in the tea, and I also used less tea in the infuser. This is my new happy tea!
Oolong from the WuYi Mountains in Fujian, China. Savory aroma, roasted vegetables. Faint pit-fruit notes. The honey-floral flavor and nutty, with white sesame, sweetened burdock root (fans of Japanese sweets, anyone?) or barley is satisfying and hearty.

i love this tea!!! It has a very sweet nice flavor.
Rich, earthy and yet smooth, this Wuyi is my favorite 'comfort' cup of tea. I like a little honey or Amber sugar crystals with this one because it brings out the many layers of flavor all wrapped up in this one blend. It is nice to take along on trips as it is not too easily burned or oversteeped if you are not where it is convenient to check the temperature and time. Just get the water to a low boil, turn off heat and allow it to sit for a few minutes before using to steep your perfect cup of tea! Great at all times of the day as the caffeine level is very low.
Rich and tasty flavor. Great for 2 to 3 steepings.
This tea has a unique earthy flavor. I like to come home and unwind with a cup of this.
Got this as a free sample. Really enjoyed it. Definitely going to buy some more one of these days.
A treat of a tea. Too bad it goes quick. It doesn't brew more than once.
Still do not like. Pronounced grassy flavor, really difficult not swallow. May need some sweets to accompany, if you decide to stick with it.
Strange taste. This tea made me wonder if I ever want to continue trying the new varieties of different teas, or just to stick forever with my favorites.
Probably my favorite tea! Robust and full of great flavors!
As I wrote in my review here for the Formosa Oolong, I roughly categorize Oolongs into greens and browns. The greens are more floral and have more of that umami tang. The browns have more of a mellow flavor that strongly reminds me of inexpensive Japanese bancha--and that's one reason I don't really like them. You can get that flavor from cheap Japanese tea, and the flavor just isn't as impressive as that of the green Oolongs. To know which is which, you can pretty much look at the teas: the greens are green and the browns are brown.
Well, the Wuyi Ensemble is in between the two and has qualities of both. It reminds of the standard Oolong tea that is favored in Japan (I lived there 8 years, which is why I keep yapping about it :)). I like this tea: it's homey and comforting. But not mind-blowing. I probably wouldn't get it again, but it was OK for one time.
Solid. Smooth with a hint of smokiness. I liked it.
This has a great toasty, roasted flavor. I didn't notice much of the extra sweetness, but I tend to go for sweeter teas anyways.
At first steeping, a dryish mouth-feel and flavor reminiscent of a lighter hojicha (due to its roast, naturally). Second and third cups from the first steep yielded increasingly more developed flavors, growing slowly more mellow, smooth and less dry, but never growing bitter no matter how long it steeped. On second steeping it continued its trend, growing delightfully more deep, smooth and mellow. I haven't tried a third steeping yet but I'm convinced that it may be quite lovely.
I'm no tea connoisseur, so I didn't manage to suss out much fruitiness or nuttiness but there was a consistently pleasant, lightly sweet thread throughout all cups, like what I would liken to the scent of timothy hay. This was sampled without any additives like sweeteners or milk, and I would recommend a longer steeping time (6 minutes) than suggested on the website or packaging.
Wuyi ensemble is described as light and floral, but I found it to be delightfully earthy. It has a roasty, nutty flavor on the second steeping, and each steepin brings out a new shade of its warm golden color. A nice oolong.
Very disappointed. Tasted like cardboard to me, even after preparing properly.
Good but not great. Soft and a little buttery, the only downside was the too-subtle flavors. Although this may just be my inexperienced pallet.
Wuyi Ensemble has a nice woody taste that is light but strong and tasty.
This tea has a lovely undertone, reminiscent of gen mai when you steep it longer. Definitely one to put on your list if you are looking for a good oolong.
Brewed it for a bit longer(6-7 minutes) and it had a beautiful coloring! The nutty, honey, cinnamon taste is amazing! I have a feeling I'll be buying more of this tea soon!
Probably great for green tea lovers, but too much grassiness for me.
This was another really great tea that both my girlfriend and myself enjoyed a lot and plan to reorder
This oolong reminds me of Chinese restaurant tea which was what I wanted. It is slightly nutty and tastes smooth.
This is a classic oolong, and should be in everyone's repertoire. It tastes of honey-roasted nuts.
I fell in love with the Masters Pouchong which prompted to me to try a few different oolong varieties. This has a nice grassiness and pleasant mouthfeel, but lacks the richness and buttery feeling of the pouchong. Still a nice, middle of the road oolong. The second steeping is more nuanced.
I'm starting to thing roasted/toasted tea is my weakness. Delicious! Perfect for a cold fall day.
Nice smooth tea. I enjoyed having it in the morning.
I was surprised how much I enjoy this tea. I enjoy my oolongs!
This is a great introductory tea to Wuyi region Oolongs. The minerality is present but not overbearing. The tea has a nice mouth feel that lingers after each sip. The tea can be resteeped several times. I thought that the tea brewed a little too weak at 3 minutes. I would highly recommend this tea to someone who is interested in trying teas that have not been flavored and are interested in Oolong teas.
A very excellent oolong, good for multiple steepings.
Love it!!!
This has become my standby tea.
very good flavor. real astounding. always drink it with Asian food
A perfect balance of flavor. This is a must for any oolong lover!
A great roasted oolong. Not a huge stand out to me but very solid.
I love this tea. It has a nice flavor. I usually add cream and sugar to my teas but this one I didn't have to.
Very smooth and flavorful. In the top ten for me.
This oolong was greener than I thought it would be.
Tastes really good. Malty with a mildly sweet finish. Strong and rich with a 2 minute steep.
Slightly earthy taste with bright color. Well received by my guests.
Very good. I prefer this to the Master's variety of Da Hong Pao because it can be 'overbrewed' to match the desired strength. Master's variety would not taste strong to my no matter how long or how much I used.
Surprisingly full-bodied, yet smooth, with a very midway or even green flavor for an oolong.
I've always loved the wuyi teas. This one in particular is a great wu yi oolong, with a full body and rich taste.
Just not to my taste: green teas have never been my favorites.
Definitely a nice tea, but I prefer Dancong Aria or even Fujian Rain to this. I only had the sample, perhaps if I had a couple ounces I would have a chance to change this to a GREAT tea.
One of my favorite oolongs. It has a somewhat fuller body than some other more delicate oolongs.
I think this is my favorite tea so far. I will drink this regularly.
I really enjoyed this tea! It is not smoky in the sense of smoky like a meat, but smoky in the sense of burning fresh dry grass, or smoky as is the scent of sunwarmed wood. It is a very comforting tea to drink, surprisingly delicate even! I loved this a lot and it's earned a spot on my favs!
The wuyi ensemble is one of my favorite teas. It's so smooth, without any bitterness. I don't like teas that bite or that have an odd aftertaste. This tea has none of that. I love it by itself without adding anything - but I think it would make a wonderful base tea to mix with other flavors. My favorite oolong!
Nutty and sweet at the same time. I enjoyed this with a protein bar for an afternoon snack. It was darker and richer tasting than I expected but that might have come from steeping a little longer than necessary. Was not bitter though.
Just okay. I definitely prefer my oolongs greener than this one.
Excellent tea. I really like this one iced with a touch of sugar.
