Milk Oolong Customer Reviews

An oolong tea prized for its inherent cream and butter notes. Lower quality versions enhance these notes through aromatization. Ours is a true Milk Oolong, with slightly roasted leaves that yield a light-bodied cup with sweet buttery texture and delicate floral aroma.

★★★☆☆

Bright yellow liquor has complex flavor and long aftertaste. It is a sophisticated brew that requires time to truly appreciate. However, for the price, there are better alternatives.

First infusion at 3minutes: Floral on the nose, biscuity in the mouth. Earthy, green and warm. The first note is very vegetal, with just a whisp of milk, ending cleanly. It's light, but quite ordinary. It's a very delicate tea.

Second infusion at 4 minutes: Really benefits from that extra minute, and upon using the rest of the sample I think I'll brew it for a bit longer. Slightly more vegetal, with a nose
of buttered toast. Still quite ordinary and I feel like I'm missing the strength and creamy mouthfeel that comes from other milk oolongs.

Utimately you can achieve the same effect from a a yamamotoyama brand green tea. I wouldn't jump to buy this again, though it might be my preference for strong teas that creates a sort of bias here.

★★★★☆

Earthy smell but not so much the taste of this tea. Nothing stood out but it was pleasant enough.

★★★★☆

I don't typically like oolongs, but this was very good! It definitely had a milky taste to it--it reminded me of unsweetened heavy cream, but without the heavy richness.

★★★★★

A good oolong tea. Sweet and flavorful. Only it doesn't have a milk flavor, but that doesn't bother me.

★★★★☆

Nice smooth but subtle flavor. Nothing to complain about really, but it could have a little more flavor.

★★★☆☆

Not too much flavor here. I was not able to pick up on the subtle notes and flavors described in the description of this Milk Oolong. I had high hopes but would rather stick to the Ti Kuan Yin or Ali Shan Oolongs.

★★★★☆

Delicious, I always enjoy a nice plain oolong, and this hit the spot.

★★★★★

love the creaminess of this oolong! Very buttery and floral. Great as a soothing drink!

★★★☆☆

This is another tea that connoisseurs would appreciate, but I don't have the tastebuds for it. To me, this is a nice green tea, very 'vegetal', but I don't taste anything that reminds me of milk. Maybe I'm being too literal. I prefer lemon or just sweetener in my tea, and never got in the habit of adding milk. I may have to experiment with it a little more.

Easily my favorite tea. I can't get enough of the stuff.

★★★☆☆

Taste is ok, though it tastes more like a green tea

★★★☆☆

This oolong does not have much of a 'milk' flavor or scent. It is more like a normal oolong tea, not bad, but not great.

★★★★★

A great taste and a great aftertaste. It's almost sweet. Just all around pleasant. I think it might be the best oolong I've had from adagio.

This was ok. Very mild, but it didn't blow me out of the water.

★★★★☆

Real light taste, good for a breakfast tea, better with honey

★★★★★

Smooth and tasty. Wonderful iced with a bit of natural sugar.

★★★★☆

The is OK, but I did not feel is had the Oolong flavor of some of the others.

★★★★★

I've always been curious about milk oolong... I read even the fake milk oolongs actually taste pretty good too, though I'm sure Adagio wouldn't pull something like that. I loved this tea from the first sip. It's such a soft taste, but still wonderfully creamy and buttery. It's a perfect middle-ground for me when I'm not in the mood for strong blacks or wispy whites. The price is a bit of a turn-off, but that's why there's always a sample pack, at least.

★★★☆☆

It was a good tea! I am still searching for my perfect tea.

★★★★★

Smooth! I really enjoyed this soft oolong. It's slightly nutty with a naturally creamy taste. Added to my favs

★★★★☆

Slightly floral oolong, a little on the mild side for my tastes, but good overall tea.

★★★★★

This tea is perfect, very smooth and savory with a taste of buttery and silky goodness. I used to order this at the local tea shop by the pot, and now it is nice to do it at home.

★★★★☆

Very tasty tea with a light and creamy feel. Still good through many steeps.

★★☆☆☆

I was really hoping to like this one as I had previously sampled milk oolong from another vendor. In comparison, Adagio's milk oolong smelled and tasted much grassier.

Now, something called Milk Oolong by default calls for me to at least try it. So I did. And it was... interesting. I'm at a loss for how to describe this tea. One-of-a-kind? Let's go with that. Not great, but good in it's own right. Certainly not bad. Give it a try by ordering a sample if nothing else.

This tea is great on it's own. I use it to cut almond or coconut tea. It really adds good body to the tea.

★★★★★

This oolong had somewhat delicate flavor and lovely floral aroma. I'd definitely recommend it if you enjoy lighter oolongs. The tea is also good for multiple infusions

★★★★★

I'm so glad I treated myself to some of this! Smooth, creamy, and flavorful

★★★★☆

I like this tea, but really didn't notice any difference from other oolong that I've tried. I'm not sure what I was expecting.

★★★★☆

I admit, my palate is neither experienced nor sophisticated - I tend to like my flavored tea blends, philistine that I am. However, this milk oolong is quite lovely. Grassy, a bit buttery, on the whole light but flavorful. The pearls expand like crazy, and I wildly overestimated how much tea I would need for a small pot.

This has as slightly floral aroma (not perfumy!) and a lovely, soft flavor.

★★★★★

A delightful oolong tea, very tasty with honey. I especially love to watch the leaves unfold.

★★★☆☆

I feel bad giving this only 3 stars- but I should explain first- I am a huge Milk Oolong fan. I spend a pretty penny, on a regular basis, for some really high quality leaves from an independent shop in VA- so my standards are very high. In my opinion, a great Milk Oolong should smell and taste not only creamy (milky) but buttery- like when you're at the movies, and you order a large popcorn, and the oozey butter leaks into the cardboard at the bottom of the bucket? THAT'S what it should smell and taste like! This oolong fell flat for me- the parchment taste was there- but not the butteriness. Sorry.

Mellow, light flavor, great iced or hot. With a little milky taste.

I *love* this tea. Smooth, wonderful flavor, very refreshing.

★★★★★

This is a very good representation of milk oolong. I have had some other versions of milk oolong from other dealers in the past and my expectations were not let down by this blend. The liquor has a nice scent of sweet vegetal-ness with hints of pineapple and a very full, smooth mouthfeel. The leaves themselves are very nice and unfurl to a single stem attached to two to three very large, mostly whole, leaves. I steeped this for the first time in my ingenuitea before using it in my yixing or gaiwan and I'm glad I did because I'm fairly certain I would have way overloaded these small vessels considering how much space these leaves take up when they unfurl. I did a 2 minute first steep and a 3 minute second steep. I didn't have time to enjoy the leaves more that day but I will say that I'm fairly certain these leaves could hold out with great flavor for 4 or 5 steepings depending on how you brew your tea.

If you're home doing work and you want a tea you can brew in the morning and continue to brew again and again throughout the day, this is a great option. I definitely think the leaves can take it.

A fantastic tea, it really does have a nice milky aftertaste. That said, I think the steeping temperature is much too high on the direction box for this tea. This tea gets bitter much more quickly than say 'jade oolong', 'pouchong' or 'ali shan'. I'd treat it more like you would treat your green teas. Of course this is all personal preference, but I think 180-185 is an ideal temperature for this tea!

The best milk oolong I've tried. So silky and smooth! Amazing quality and an absolute joy to watch brew and unfurl. I wish it wasn't so expensive. Well worth the price though.

The kind of tea where you drink when you want to unwind.

★★★★★

First steep - 2min at 195. Nothing too special yet, just a good formosa. Second steep - 3min at 195. Now I can taste the buttery yumminess. Yep, I like this! I'm sure I could have gotten another steep or two out of it before it started to weaken, but there's only so much caffeine I can do in one afternoon. I may or may not reorder this, but I will definitely enjoy the rest of the sample.

A very good tea with a milky cream flavor that coats the tongue...

★★★☆☆

Can't give a great review. I love milky oolong and was excited that adagio got it in. This one is blend and flat especially with its premium pricing.

★★★★☆

delicate.. buttery and sweet. expensive.. but that pans out with the fact you can do multiple infusions.

First try of milk oolong and it was awesome. Everything I was hoping it would be.

★★★★★

Excellent taste, full-bodied flavor. Wonderful to drink in the morning!

★★★★☆

This milk oolong has a nice, light mild flavor. However, for the price, I prefer the master's formosa ali shhan or tky, which both are more flavorful.

★★☆☆☆

I have had numerous milk oolongs and this was basically regular oolong, nothing special. Shame given the price.

Definitely not what I expected. I was hoping for something smooth and earthy, but when I brewed a pot of this tea it smelled and tasted rather vegetal. I got almost none of the milky/buttery taste promised, and I even started to wonder if I had been sent a green variety by mistake! I'll finish the sample envelope that I got, but I'm not sure that I'll order it again.
