Jade Oolong Customer Reviews

Lightly oxidized oolong from Nantou county, Taiwan. Similar in style to Tung Ting, its tightly rolled leaves slowly unfurl through several steepings. Jade oolong is loved for its fresh green-floral aroma, sweet flavor, and delicate texture.

For anyone who is hesitant about trying oolongs, this one is a good start. This one is mild and almost green tea like. I may consider buying the iced tea bags of this.

This is a very floral, soft, light, fragrant oolong, good for multiple infusions. It's definitely on the bright, fresh, 'young spinach' side of things. There's also a very light, clean mouthfeel - it's not heavy or thick like some teas are, making it really nice for spring weather. It's a good daily steeping tea to have around (and in fact, I have had it around for over a year).

This tea was soothing and lovely. When steeped at 180, this tea exuded a soft floral note that was reminiscent of jasmine, without the jasmine perfume. The feel of the tea was smooth and light. At no point was there a hint of the grassy taste that can sometimes accompany a greener tea. This would be a great option to reach for when looking for something on the lighter side!

Light, vegetal, and very, very green. It's quite mild and with an almost imperceptible sweetness (or am I fooling myself?). It's not my favorite but it's not a bad green oolong.

This brews to a pretty golden color and has a clean grassy scent. The flavor had a vegetal feel but was a bit too mild for my taste. (3 mins @ 175°)

Drinking along with the CommuniTEA today: I detect coconut and eucalyptus from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 3 mins at 185° F, I notice butter, mineral, and possibly subtle floral notes from my cup. When I take sip, I notice eucalyptus and rich buttery notes, followed by more mineral, eucalyptus and flavors reminiscent of coconut on the finish.

This reminds me of milk oolong, which is one of my favorite oolongs. Super smooth. Fun to watch the leaves unfurl and great for multiple steeps.

While this is a solid Oolong that is not my preferred tea without additional flavors.

I enjoy watching rolled tea unfurl. It's like a beautiful dance in my infuser! I usually do not care for green teas, this one was light on the grassy notes and more floral. Not overpowering at all

This is a truly a beautiful tea; a real gem! The nose is lovely, light and floral. It is a smooth sip of creamy, earthy, flowery goodness. It coats the tongue and lingers in flavor. It almost has a buttery consistency with a little bit of minerality on the back end. And steeping? Oh, you'll get at least three and get to see the little balls unfurl further and further, which is magic in its own right! This is a tea for a zen moment, so if you are in a hurry, I'd pick another brew. But if you can practice mindfulness in the moment, this tea is an ideal accompaniment. Happy Sipping!

This is one of those things I like more in theory than in practice. It’s a bit too grassy/seaweed tasting for me. I’ve tried this a few times now, usually 180F for 4 minutes. Today I reduced it to 3 minutes and it helped but there’s still a hint of perfume that I don’t like. Good thing there are so many great oolongs that I do like! I do like it better as a cold brewed iced tea, but still prefer many other poorer this tea.

This is a really nice oolong tea! Slightly vegetal in flavor, but it’s light and sweet. Adding to my wishlist!

What an unusual aroma of sweet flowers coming from the CommuniTea packet. The tightly curled leaves open as they steep into the palest yellow color of tea. This is not bitter at all, and to me has the aroma and scent of flowers. The tea is naturally sweet and delightful. Full bodied, it leaves a fresh, clean finish on my mouth. It is a unique tasting oolong, reminding me of flowers and spring. Perfect tea for this time of year. (1st steep: 5 mins @ 180ºF, other steeps: 3 mins @180ºF).

Delicious oolong with a little green, and a slightly vegetal taste. I love watching oolong tea hydrate and become full leaves, it's absolutely magical, and the jade oolong affords this pleasure.

A very lovely and delicate tea! It starts out as little pearls and ends up as a fragrant, pale green cup of deliciousness. Oolong leaves are hearty, so you can steep this several times. One of my favorite oolongs!

Jade Oolong is a light, delicate tea. Treated with respect (180°, steeped for 3 minutes) it produces a lightly floral brew, more characteristic of a green tea. I tend to prefer richer black teas. My rating is based on my personal preference. Drank as part of the CommuniTEA offerings, it was an elegant enjoyable brew.

185 degrees for 4 minutes. The scent of the dry leaves remind me of linseed oil. The linseed oil scent carried through to the brewed tea, yet it intermingled with soft vegetal and floral notes. The base is bolder than a green tea, and gentle astringency lends a pleasant mouthfeel. Overall a nice tea, yet I can't help but think of oil paintings when I drink it, lol.

I brewed at 190°F for 45 seconds. I got three brews out of this and then I was tired of drinking tea. but I can almost *picture* that there’s at least two more brews in there. Each brew was a little different, but throughout I got nice floral notes. It was even good after I let my third brew chill, no bitterness. A good everyday oolong.

I've been wanting to try this one for a while. Blessed be adagio for knowing what i want before i do. I am very much smitten by it. The taste wasn't what i expected to taste when i tasted it. Yes. I have to say this is totally in my top 5 of the month.

UPDATE 2021: I posted the review below 7 years ago. Jade Oolong remains one of my top favorite teas! The scent always cheers me up.

I had never smelled such a delightful tea when I opened the bag! Floral / herbal, sweet, just elegant in every way. One of the first on my list to share with friends. I even took my travel mug with it to a committee work session because I knew the aroma would make people ask me what it was!

Fresh and floral but not too perfumy. So light and delicate with a gentle aftertaste that leaves no mistake you've brewed a cup of tea. Darker than expected with a slightly funky smell the good kind of funk! Yummy.

A mild green tea which embodies everything you would expect of an oolong. The only thing lacking is that the taste is relatively mild when brewed within the given time, but if overstepped it is too bitter.

This is a fun tea to watch brew. The liquor looks like a green tea, but the leaf is rolled like a oolong, so you see the unfurling as it brews. The tea is more on the vegetal side, with notes of hay and green grass but more as underlying notes to the overall sweet and clean cup. Very delicate but not floral. This tea is quite appropriate for spring.

This is a not-very-expensive oolong that tastes really classy! A definite ripe floral scent goes along with that smoooooth oolong flavor. I like to hang onto a small bag of this and drink it when I want to treat myself or feel fancy. Maybe not an every day tea, but an every weekend tea!
