Strong tangy grapefruit flavor with a nice oolong base, can be steeped twice (4+ minutes for the second steep)

I’m not super familiar with oolong teas but found this one to be light and bright. I thought that with a pinch of sugar there was a nice middle ground in being citrus forward and not too bitter. I have tried two servings now, both warm, and look forward to this being served as an iced tea.

★★☆☆☆

I tried this one hot and I wasn’t a fan. Hopefully the taste will be better iced.

Grapefruit can be a strong flavor but not in this tea. It enhanced the flavor of the oolong but did not domiate.

★★★★☆

This Grapefruit oolong is very good for those who like a citrus flavor. You can taste the grapefruit flavor here. I added some fresh lime to give it a stronger taste.

When opening the packet, there's a nice grapefruit scent. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to carry over as much into taste as it does with the black version, though the oolong is still enjoyable.

I love the aroma of this tea from the pouch. It has the potent and refreshing scent of real grapefruit. The citrusy taste of the grapefruit goes well with the crispness of the Oolong. I think the grapefruit was strong enough but not too strong that it overpowered the oolong.

One of my favorite, juicy grapefruit flavor without being too bitter

I love Oolong tea and the addition of the grapefruit flavor is just a delight! I use a hint of monk fruit Sweetener.

★★★★☆

Nice smoky grapefruit peel flavor with a very nice aroma. Slightly too acidic that can be offputting if you arent expecting it

The grapefruit gives this tea a very unique flavor. It's citrus, but neither too sour nor too sweet (even when I accidentally over-steep it). Definitely one of my absolute favorites.

edit: still many years after making that first review, this is one of my favorite teas that I buy over and over again.

Refreshing and fragrant! I wasn't sure what to expect with grapefruit. Pleasantly surprised!

I saw another review saying that one CT packet isn’t enough, so that might be the issue, but I was let down by this tea. It smells almost nauseatingly of grapefruit, but once steeped, all of the flavor gets lost.

★★★★☆

Update 1/8/25 CT - today’s packet was much better mixed and I steeped at 195 which kept the bitterness away. Much better so raising it a star.
Update - 11/27/2023 CT - it may have just been my package but the tea today was not my thing at all. It tasted bitter and more of a coffee flavor (which I am not a fan of). I tried adding orange and lemon peels to help it out, but that just didn't do the trick.
9/11/22 - Nice citrus flavor. The oolong was a just the right leaf to bring out the taste for me today. Enjoyed it.

Nice aroma, but the flavour lacked a little of the punch I would expect from grapefruit. There was a little astringent tang that was reminiscent of the pith of a grapefruit, without the tang or sweetness of the body. Nice light citrus-y tea, but I'd like it better if it came on a little stronger.

I am glad I tasted this before adding sugar, because I could taste the grapefruit. I didn’t need to add anything to it to enjoy this cup.

★★★★☆

I didn't expect grapefruit to be this tasty. This was especially good hot. The flavor of grapefruit was very good and complimented the oolong so well.

This is a yummy tea for grapefruit lovers. Strong smell out of the bag but pleasant grapefruit flavor in the cup. Decent hot but even better cold. A good well rounded flavored tea... As long as you like grapefruit.

★★★★☆

I enjoy this grapefruit oolong tea. the smell is very nice, but the flavor is not as strong as I would like

Really enjoying this tea so far as I explore different types of oolongs.

This one is probably more of a 3 1/2 for me. This particular oolong base is a little too earthy/minerally for my liking. The first few sips were okay, but toward the end of the cup, I held my breath each time I'd take a drink because it smelled stronger than it tasted. However, I can taste the grapefruit, and it's not astringent at all. I'll probably use up the rest of the sample pouch to see if it grows on me, but I suspect I won't be ordering more.

I am not usually a grapefruit person, but this tea is delicious! All of the yummy grapefruit flavor without any of the bite. The oolong really smooths it out leaving a silky mouthfeel.
Update: I love the brisk citrusy grapefruit flavor with the earthy, nutty and mineral oolong tea. Because of it's uniqueness and versatility, this one can easily become part of my rotation.

Communitea sample, 3min @ 212 F: Adagio's oolong blends are some of my favorites. I think this one is great in the balance of being very grapefruit-y in aroma and having some light citrus notes on the tongue, but mostly tasting like an oolong tea. And similarly, it had some light oolong notes in the aroma. I steeped it three times and overtime the grapefruit flavors were a bit more bitter but the oolong flavors came out really more. I really like that I could sense both the grapefruit and the oolong and that they added to each other, rather than competed, since they both primarily affected a different scent.

I'd sit here and type volumes about how refreshing this tea is, especially when sweetened but I think I'll go stick my nose back in the bag. That smell is divine!

I actually enjoy this tea far better than I did the first time I tried it—I probably steeped it better this time.
The glorious flavors of grapefruit and Oolong blend perfectly!

This one is amazing in the packet, strong grapefruit scent making me want to keep my nose there. However after brewing I was disappointed that so much of that beautiful grapefruit disappeared, maybe it was the fact I had only a tiny bit of peel in the packet. Brewed at 190 for 4 minutes and sweetened with 1/4 tsp honey. I could see adding this to my stash once I've cleared a few other bags out.

Upon opening the CommuniTEA packet, the aroma hit me in the face like a ton of bricks. It was definitely pungent, which made me think I was about yo taste something artificial. However, I was pleasantly surprised that once brewed the actual taste of the grapefruit was nice and softly played with the oolong on my tongue. This is probably not something I would buy on the regular, but it was better than I expected.

Like others who've commented, I would say the grapefruit flavor is not strong. The scent of the dry leaves is very strong (I like it, but I happen to like the smell of grapefruit) but the tea itself is mildly flavored. Kind of hpw if you have lemon flavored black tea...it adds a flavor, but it's not exactly like tart lemon. This tea is ok. Not bad at all, I'll finish the packet (I had enough for two cups) but it's nothing particularly exciting. 'Nothing to write home about' as my grandma always used to say.

I am looking forward to trying this tea. For me, I'm not a huge fan of grapefruit but it sounds delicious with the other herbs.

Love grapefruit, love Oolong, loved everything about this flavour!

★★★★☆

Honestly, if I had not known this was grapefruit, I don't know if I could have identified the flavor. This is a tasty tea, but the grapefruit seems a little obscure to me. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this cup. I put the remainder of my cup plus a second steep over ice, since it is a very warm day. I think the iced version has a much more pronounced grapefruit flavor. I like it better hot, but I was surprised at the difference in the iced.

Very pronounced grapefruit fragrance. The flavor is more subtle. It is a nice combination with the oolong. A nice tea!

This is one of my favorite Adagio teas! It's great alone and in blends. The tea has a bright, realistic grapefruit flavor that goes well with the oolong tea.

Oct ‘24: nice. Straw, pepper, grapefruit zest, mildly astringent (?) , not a lot of caffeine.

the adagio 'grapefruit' black tea is one of my faves of all time, and I'd still prefer that... but this was lovely and unexpected. fragrance and taste had a surprisingly peppery quality and the grapefruit is very subtle, needed sweetener for me to bring it out. really interesting.

Where to start on this tea? It wasn't a bad tea to me, but probably not my top Oolong flavor/variety. I'll be up front, this blend tastes nothing like how it smells. The scent of this tea has a candy fruity smell, like an orange Starburst candy, but the flavor is more leafy/earthy with a subdued tanginess. Overall not bad, it might not be my top pick for Oolongs, but I still quite enjoyed my cup.

Was so disappointed in this tea. I love grapefruit, but couldn’t really taste it in the tea. It really needed more of the citrus in there for me to enjoy it

Great tea. Very light and fresh taste, as you would expect from that particular flavor profile. Grapefruit + Oolong is a winner.

I am so happy with this one. I enjoyed a sample of the grapefruit black tea but have been needing to cut back on caffeine. This oolong blend is just as delicious! Next up should be decaf grapefruit!

The grapefruit aroma is there but is very muted on the palette. It's good, but I prefer the grapefruit black tea over this
