Formosa Oolong Customer Reviews

A darker oolong tea from Taiwan, formerly known as Formosa (which means 'Beautiful'). Deep raisiny and ripe fruit aroma, autumn 'leafy' note. The lingering flavor and smooth, refreshingly fruity astringency and a lovely introduction to Taiwanese tea.

★★★★☆

This is an earthy oolong with a slight hint of green still hidden in the flavor. little too astringent, especially as it cools. But its full flavor, when warm, is quite satisfying.

★★★★☆

so often oolong teas have a taste to them like how pot smoke smells, and I have no idea why. still a pretty good tea.

★★★★☆

ecent tasting tea. I think I prefer the peach oolong better though.

★★★★★

great oolong, especially considering that its one of very few cheap ones. great everyday tea. lso very good for those new to tea I would think - the 'notes' of flavor everyone mentions are quite pronounced (especially in the smell of the brewed leaves) bit woodsy, almost spiced, and a fruitiness I would liken to red wine.

This tastes like oolong. Which is great because I love oolong. If you don't like oolong, I would not reccomend this tea.

★★★★☆

Pretty much as the description states: the fruit notes are like raisins, or dates. Maybe a bit of currant, too. A nice level of astringency, as well. I really enjoyed this tea with a good dose of cinnamon, and some honey is optional, but excellent.

★★★★★

This tea to me had a roasty, savory quality that makes it one of the few teas I think I like better unsweetened. I could see this tea going particularly well with a meal.

I lived in Taiwan for a year and absolutely loved the local oolong. This oolong has the same delicate flavor and takes me right back. Very soft and flavorful, even my less tea-savvy friends really love it.

★★★☆☆

I found this tea to be almost nutty in taste and feel which I wasn't expecting from an oolong. If you're into that, I would say go for it, but for me, I think I'll pass next time around.

This seems like your average oolong, which definitely isn't a bad thing. I love that it tastes almost identical to the tea that I've had in Chinese restaurants. I'm not sure if I'll order it again, but I definitely don't regret buying the sample that I'm drinking now. I enjoy it more with every sip.

★★★★★

It's everything you would want out of an Oolong. If you've only ever had the bagged variety at a local Chines restaurant, imagine that flavor but a hundred times better.

Leafy, understated, but would have enjoyed deeper, less subtle flavor. Good, not great.

I so missed being able to drink oolong tea since I got back from China, and this is just as good as the oolong I had when I was there, so yay.

★★★★★

Very nice and I don't even usually like oolongs! I could drink this any time of day. It's not too intense and still has a lot of flavor.

★★★★★

The absolutely perfect relaxation tea. I've always been partial to oolong, and this has all my favorite tastes.

★★★★☆

Amber color with a sweet, woodsy nose. Mild tobacco flavor and lingering finish.

★★★★☆

A pleasantly-flavored oolong that brews a nice cup, but isn't quite to the level of 'amazing'.

★★★★★

One of my new favorites and the first oolong that I've tried. It's got a great woody smoky flavor. It holds up to 2 or 3 steepings pretty easily.

★★★☆☆

This is a tasty basic oolong, like a lot of the other reviewers reported. It is smooth, a bit earthy, and generally good all around!

★★★☆☆

I will definitely use up the amount that I ordered, but I wouldn't order it again. Seemed like it fermented a little bit too long in this batch.

★★★★☆

Toasty and bold, and much better on the 2nd and 3rd infusion.

A fairly inexpensive Oolong that gets the job done. It has a nice twiggy taste. Make sure to rinse it before brewing!

★★★★★

A smooth and palatable tea, just what I wanted out of an oolong. Lightly sweetened and it's perfect for an afternoon tea.

★★★☆☆

As far as Oolong teas go I find this one to be very basic without much complexity. There's much better on Adagio.

★★★★☆

A little weaker than I was exspecting but still a very good Oolong. When mixed with the Almont Oolong it brings out the best in both.

★★★☆☆

It's a darker oolong with an earthy taste. It's not bad, but I definitely prefer other oolongs.

★★★★☆

good basic oolong. A bit spendy, but I do support Adagio's relationship with the growers, so I'm willing to pay a bit extra!

★★★★☆

This is good if you want a plain, dark oolong with a fairly light flavor. Hints of smokey hay with a slightly citrus aftertaste.

★★★★★

A very good, simple tea. Not overly complex, yielding itself to an anytime, any day sort of tea

★★★★★

Great everyday oolong. Classic oolong flavors at a price that allows for frequent enjoyment

★★★★★

I love this tea! Very warm and comforting flavor. It makes me feel like I'm drinking Fall. I want to try other Oolongs.

★★★☆☆

Not a very smoky, strong oolong. I expected a stronger flavor but I can see this being good for an oolong beginner.

This tea is a rather bland Oolong, I found myself less than wowed at first but the more I drank the more I liked it. It is like a very smooth Oolong and good for people who are not a big fan of the really distinct Oolongs (for example my boyfriend hates Oolongs but said this is good) but for me I will most likely stick with my Ti Guan Yin

This oolong isn't bad. it's flavor isn't as strong/bold as I was expecting. It's definitely on the light side despite it's leafy/woodsy flavor, enjoyable, but I might have to try steeping long next time. I guess I'm just more used to oolongs with stronger flavors!

★★★☆☆

Probably my least favorite of Adagio's Oolongs that I've tried. It had some nice peachy flavors, but was far more astringent than I expected, more like a strong black tea than a mellow Oolong.

★★★★★

I love this tea. Reminds me of the awesome tea I get at good Chinese restaurants. For all I know, it could be the same tea. Don't know what kind of oolong they serve.

★★★★★

This is one of my favorite teas - complex yet comforting, floral and raisin-y without being fruity. The flavor is more apparent when the tea is warm or even cold, rather than hot.

★★★☆☆

Tastes a little like the ginseng oolong I used to get in mainland China-- a lingering sweetness that starts to feel medicinal with multiple infusions.

★★★★☆

A decent tea. Not my favorite oolong, but not bad, either. It's smooth and has a relaxing scent.

When I first opened the bag, this tea was nothing extravagent. It smelled like normal tea, and when brewed had a pretty generic taste. Good with milk and honey, Nice fall blend.

★★★★★

This reminds me of the tea you get in Chinese restaurants. A great value.

★★★★☆

This is a great every day tea. It has an almost cinnamon-y aroma and a smooth earthy taste. It's a great first oolong and now I want to try more. I accidentally brewed my first cup weaker than I intended, and it still had a full flavor. It's a nice change of pace from the flavored black teas in my collection.

Another oolong tea to add to my list of favorites!

My first oolong, beautiful lingering flavor. This is the one that got me hooked!

Another good oolong. A great afternoon tea. I don't like floral teas (to me, they taste like drinking perfume), but this one has a nice flavor without being floral.

★★★★☆

At a half-power brew, this tea has a very rich, earthy flavor. Cross a typical Oolong with something almost akin to mushroom in taste. I have no idea where I can use this in blends...but that's all the fun!

★★★★☆

This is a very hearty tea. Nutty and grainy in taste. Great everyday oolong!!

★★★★★

The best traditional oolong as far as I'm concerned. Reminds me of those nice Chinese restaurants that actually serve tea . . .

★★☆☆☆

It is dull, weak, and bland.
I tried steeping it longer or hotter or with more leaves. Nothing. Very very weak.
