Dancong Aria Customer Reviews

A rare tea from Phoenix Mountain in Guangdong province, China. Perfumy, orchid, and almond. Smooth and refined texture with flavors of fresh apricot, peach pit, and honey. Incredibly long finish. This is a tea to take your time with!

Love the flavor of this tea and it goes great with lavender.

★★★★★

I really like oolong tea, and this is one of my favorites. It is great for re-steeping as well.

★★★★☆

Very interesting tea. Has a somewhat nutty smell to it, but a sweeter taste. This is only my first cup and I brewed carefully so as to get the best flavor. At 4 minutes and lower heat, I tasted no bitterness at all. It gives me kind of a fruity aftertaste but at the same time it kind of tastes nutty too. Very unique tea. I'm new to Oolong teas but this one is quite pleasant.

I should start by saying I'm a green tea fan- green of all kinds- green oolong, regular green tea, even green rooibos. So whereas this was good- not astringent, a little nutty, a bit of sweet dark raisin- it was just not for me. I like all the flowers and honey notes from greens. But I try new things, because you never know- the next new favorite could be something you didn't expect.

★★★★★

I love this tea, it's got a very smooth and almost 'golden' flavor.

★★★★★

My favorite oolong I've had so far from Adagio. I like my oolongs on the black side and smoky, so this one does pretty well for that.

★★★☆☆

This may be the 'bee's knees' for others, but I did not like the initial flavor or the aftertaste. I detected a metallic note that I don't prefer. It doesn't matter, though - Adagio has tons of flavors that I love!

★★★★★

Loved this tea. Truly one of my favorites. I have to trans'ate from celsius so I hope the temp is right, but it has a very bold taste and I love it as a midday tea

This has a mildly sweet taste. I liked it, but not enough to get again.

An no-frills oolong with a simple and mild taste. A good everyday tea.

Had this in replace of the Irish Breakfast and I have to admit though it is a lighter tea than the Irish it still had a great flavor that was a tad bit sweeter than I had expected. Very good with honey.

★★★★☆

Wonderful nostes of orchid and fruit, yet still has that dark, rich flavor that wuyi has.

There's no real way around it: I didn't like this tea. It was a great tea until the aftertaste came, a flavor I have difficulty describing. Not going to be buying this tea again.

I would say this tea is an oolong that is closer to a black tea in taste... but no so much that it turned me off. I definitely got the almond and honey in the flavor. I'm hoping my next cup will have the peach everyone is talking about. Next time I try my sample I will try a lower water temperature than 195 and see how the flavor changes. I also can't wait to try it iced.

★★★★★

A relatively sweet oolong with an airy quality indicative of the plants long stalks and growing altitude. It contains more floral and fruity notes: not as peppery as bai hoa or full bodied as the wuyi ensemble. This tea requires a water temperature just under boiling and a steep time of no more than 3 or 4 minutes as it tends to get bitter if left in for too long. Made correctly this tea makes an excellent cup.

★★★★☆

If it doesn't seep for too long, it's great. It can get a bitter twang if it sets for too long.

★★★★★

The elusive Chinese restaurant tea I've been looking for! One of my favorite Oolongs.

★★★★★

A really enjoyable oolong with a touch of sweetness. Makes for a great afternoon pick-me-up!

★★★★★

very good Oolong tea. It can be bitter if brewed too hot or too long, but otherwise is very pleasant and has a subtle sweetness to it.

★★★☆☆

Was hoping for more out of this tea, but was disappointed. Found it drinkable but I will not be ordering it again.

★★★★★

Pleasant mineral taste! A brew time of 3 minutes is optimal.

★★★★☆

Accidentally brewed this at 212. It didn't ruin it, but the taste did change getting it at the correct temperature.

★★★★☆

This tea has a mild fruity taste and I would buy it again.

★★★★★

I'm more of a green oolong person, but I love the smokiness of this tea.

★★★☆☆

Despite its appearance, Dancong Aria has none of the dark, smoky essence that most twisted leaf style oblongs have. I really wanted to like this tea. I loved the concept of the Roots Campaign, and the postcard I could send to the grower in thanks for his hard work. Perhaps it was overly high expectations based on other reviews. I'm finding this tea good, but not spectacular.

DA is extremely heat sensitive. To coax out any of the peach pit notes you can't use water over 175-180. If you do that correctly then the tea does indeed have wonderful peach pit favors and scents. Unfortunately that character does not seem to get passed on in multiple infusions. It does brew a good, smooth, non-bitter, non-leafy oolong tea with more infusions. However, those 2nd and 3rd infusions lack any hint of floral or fruity notes that you would typically get with a similarly priced rolled type of oolong tea.

Great and very interesting flavor its my favorite so far!

★★★★★

I really like this tea. It is not overpowering, has floral notes, and a good after taste. I agree with steeping at a cooler temperature as many say.

★★★★☆

Perfect for when you want a lighter black tea with a subtly smokey distinction.

★★★★★

I really enjoyed this tea. The sweet peach flavor really makes this tea, but it is definitely balanced by the other flavors to make a nice blended fruit kind of oolong.

★★★★★

The reviews on this tea are outrageously good. So naturally I looked to debunk them, I couldn't. I just put some in a tea display and brought it into work. I could only use water from the water machine that gets up to about 175. For this reason I steeped it for a full 5 minutes. The flavor is unbelievable. It's somehow both floral and fruity as well as has full body and rich mineral flavor. The cherry on top is that it's from the mountain in China that I lived near for two years :)

this one was good. it had a good flavor and aftertaste

★★★★☆

This tea is a dark oolong but has a taste of a green tea which I appreciate. As with all Adagio teas, I use less leaves and less steeping time than listed on the bag.

The taste is somewhat smoky which I like, depending on my mood.

One of my favorite oblongs that this site offers. Great taste

★★★★☆

I really enjoyed this tea. It is light yet flavorful - toasted grain up front, followed by floral and lychee notes. Unique.

★★★★★

This is a great oolong. There was a tiny bit of a floral note but still that great oolong taste. Reminded me of the Monkey-Picked Oolong. Great tea.

★★★★★

This tea had an amazing fruity aroma that leads to a sweet and slightly roasty cup of tea. Very enjoyable.

★★★★★

This tea has a peachy taste that I just love! This is my favorite oolong. I prefer a darker oolong like this and plan to reorder more.

★★★★★

One of my favorite teas to start the day! Earthy and yet smooth, the flavor actually deepens when steeping the second time, though you may want to add another minute to the steeping time.

I got this as a Christmas gift for my mother. based on her reaction, I'd say it was a hit! She absolutely loves it.

bold tea, makes a strong cup. Too strong of a flavor to be my favorite.

★★★★☆

This has a subtle taste that didn't wow me, but it was still good I'd recommend trying this tea. Right now my favorites are wuyi ensemble and grapefruit oolong, though.

★★★★☆

A staple for my workday. Which is surprising, as I typically don't enjoy floral teas like this one.

★★★★★

Lite and flavors of toast and nuts. Havent tried mutiple steepings but very earthy aroma and mineral like. This is high grade!

This tea has a lot of things going on. Many different flavors evolve out of a single cup. There is a distinctive floral note with many underlying nuances. In my opinion, this is a tea that it is best to make when you have time to focus on it, not when you are looking for a a quick cup. On that note, the Adagio description does not lie, the flavor does vary significantly with temperature and time. I am still experimenting to find the optimal temperature and time, if such a thing exists.

I thought this tea was very good, just not as much as some of the other reviewers. I would try it again though.

★★★★★

Quickly becoming my favorite tea. Complex flavor, incredibly smooth long lasting finish. Definitely one not to miss.

★★★★★

I'm glad I didn't review this the first day it arrived, I wasn't careful in watching the water temp and was brewing in between 200 and 205 deg. F, the tea was coming out barely rating an ok. I brewed it more carefully the second day at the proper temp. and it is a great tea, It smells wonderful in the bag and as it brews and taste equally great in the cup, very complex. I got about two great steeps outta one teaspoon serving, the third steeping taste a bit more watery and much less complex. So another prime example of 'Don't give up a tea the first day you try it' Brew it a couple different ways, half the enjoyment of being a tea aficionado is mastering the proper way to brew each unique tea to your personal taste :)

I mix this tea with the Yunnan Jig (sort of making my own versions of Adagio's Mambo) and it's delicious. A pinch of Yunnan Jig and a pinch of the Dancong Aria brewed quickly (less than two minutes) makes a lovely, flavorful cup of tea.
