Ali Shan Customer Reviews

Green oolong tea from Ali Shan, one of Taiwan's most famous tea growing areas. Beautiful high mountain oolongs come from its misty peaks. Warm sugar and deeply layered floral aromas, with a melting, creamy mouthfeel. Mellow and light-bodied.

Wonderful. It s got great flavors and none of the grassy taste that some oolongs and green teas get.

While it has a great smell, the flavor was very weak. Even if I steeped it longer than the recommended time, the resulting tea most reminded me of very warm water.

★★★☆☆

Good mild flavor. A little bit of fruit flavor but not overpowering.

I m drinking this tea right now, actually, and I m very pleased. It has everything I m looking for in an oolong. Mild, light, slight floral & fruit notes, and can be steeped multiple times. For the first infusion, I steeped 3 minutes, and every infusion after that was 45 seconds.

I found this while looking for a Teavana replacement. It's delightful!

While I did not taste the sweet notes that I d read about, i certainly enjoyed the smooth floral notes in this tea. Definitely tastes best hot though it still is refreshing even when cool~

Sweet and light floral notes...no bitterness...a very good oolong tea...I do not normally resteep teas but I can see this one being really good still resteeped. Pricer than others but worth it for an oolong.

Light bodied and crisp with a slight floral taste up front. Finish is more like a green tea with a pleasant grassy after taste. Very smooth and mellow.

I am a green tea drinker so this was my first oolong and wont be my last. It you could get a cup full of honeysuckle morning dew this tea tastes like i would imagine that would. It is sweet and has a peach floral note. I brewed it gong few style and i couldn't believe how many infusions i got with it. Must have been around 9. I will be getting some more when i am done with the sampler.

This is actually one of my favorite simple oolongs. It s buttery and savory, and not bitter at all if steeped at the right temp and time. I think it is just as good as the masters version, but I am not a connoisseur or anything. I have also steeped it multiple times, and while it is never as good as the first steeping, of course, if you just increase the temp and time of the subsequent infusions, it is still really good!

just ever so slightly grassy, great oolong for a green tea lover who wants a hint of that

This is my favorite tea. I purchase it regularly and have a cup every morning...actually two! I get a second brew from the leaves. Although I allow to steep much longer on the second. I like a stronger green. Superb!

This is a great Oolong tea. A grassy and herbaceous smell but a very smooth flavor. I like to mix this one, on the second brew, with Peach Tranquility. This is one of my favorite two teas that I mix myself.

Absolutely stunning oolong. I was not ready for the cup of tea that was waiting for me after steeping the leaves. Amazing creamy mouthfeel, fresh vegetal/floral flavors, and a touch of sweet honey. I like to brew this after work as it is a very special treat for enduring a long day. You can be selfish and enjoy cup after cup since the steeps only get better or you can share with a loved one. Highly recommended and would never second guess ordering it again.

This tea is really tasty. It does multiple brewings very well!

I don't think that my palate is refined enough to judge this tea properly. It was very different, and I have not tasted anything like it. For that experience alone, it was worth it. Subtle, and easy to drink. 2nd steep was even smoother, and a little less bitter. Try for yourself, it was nice.

Oolong tea is definitely one of my favorite non-black teas. This one in particular is light and creamy with a delicate aroma. I enjoy it on my drive to work or as my wake up brew. It s wonderful on it s own and also with a touch of honey

This is the most whole leaf tea I’ve ever had. One teaspoon of little balls filled my cup with leaves, barely leaving room for tea. Wonderful taste that lasted for a second brewing.

If you are an Oolong fan, as I am, Ali Shan should be at the top of your list. Although it brews light and takes a longer brewing time to express all of its notes, it's certainly worth the wait. It has a warm, toasty, pleasant aftertaste that lingers on the tongue and urges you to brew another cup.

Light and mellow on the first steep, rich with a slightly floral top note on the second. And the third was every bit as good as the second. My brewing temp and time was 180 ° for 3 minutes, and then 4 minutes for the later steepings.

This was a nice oolong tea--very fragrant. I was able to get lots of brewings from a single teaspoon of leaves. This will sound very mystical, I'm sure, but I wasn't super into the 'mood' that the fragrance gave me. It was nice, but made me a bit uncomfortable. I really like the Ti Kuan Yin, though, which is similar to this Ali Shan, but with a more welcoming fragrance.

As far as oolongs go, this tea is unparalleled. Very strong floral notes. Very orchidy. The tea is very smooth, not overpowering, and the taste and smell of orchids will linger in your mouth for ages. This tea is a great buy. I cant wait to try the Formosa Ali Shan!

Love this tea so much, it's a nice tea for a quiet midday while I'm playing video games or watching TV, I wish I could afford to keep it stocked all the time, will definitely buy some more when I can to keep for a treat.

I usually drink more oxidized oolongs, so this one really stood out because it tasted more grassy like a green tea, but was smooth.

Incredible tea, gorgeous leaf and stem parts unfurl when steeped. Light, satisfying malty slightly creamy flavor , with mild vegetative and no bitter aftertaste.

A pretty typical oolong, it didn't stand out the way tieguanyin or pouchong did for me. This tea does get credit for being tolerant to abuse. If you are bad about oversteeping or 'forgetting' your tea this tea will tolerate a lot of abuse without getting bitter.

This is probably my favorite oolong. The flavor is milder, not as green as a lot of greens, and has a creamy finish. For me, part of the enjoyment is the leaves. They enter the water in these little knots

My palate may not have developed yet. I cannot appreciate this tea. I would stick to more robust fujian rain for now.
