Ali Shan Customer Reviews

Green oolong tea from Ali Shan, one of Taiwan's most famous tea growing areas. Beautiful high mountain oolongs come from its misty peaks. Warm sugar and deeply layered floral aromas, with a melting, creamy mouthfeel. Mellow and light-bodied.

It tastes so clear and refreshing! A little expensive, but definitely enjoyed it.

Ali Shan is one of my favorites! It has a smooth finish -not bitter or too strong. I like to enjoy this hot or iced.

My husband describes this one as 'good. similar to the Fujian rain but not as strong.'

Pricey, but worth the splurge, really smooth. My favorite oolong.

I really enjoy using this tea in my Gongfu set because of how slowly it unfurls. It s great for multiple cup infusions and is incredibly smooth.

This tea will not disappoint, it has layers and layers of delicious and interesting tastes. Wonderful cup of tea to relax with but still think about life.

This is a really smooth, tasty tea that gets even better for the second and third steeping.

I adore this tea. While on the expensive side I get 3-6 infusions out of each teaspoon of leaf increasing the brewing temperature and time with each successive cup. The leaves unfurl beautifully and I find the aesthetic of them very satisfying. The flavor is light with a silky mouthfeel, none of the grassiness of green tea or astringency of black.

This was amazing!! I cant lie, i was judging the tea off smell alone after steeping it and I thought to myself, this isn't going to be good. Well, I was 100% wrong. One of my favorites so far

Terrible this cannot be Al Shan. Does not have the Roma taste and color of authentic Allison mountain tea. I have yet to find a complete T leave after stripping the tea. The sample you sent me of Alisan special is is more closely associated in authentic with Ali Shan. When I purchased sorry to say is disgusting

This is a very good tasting tea. Jasmine flavor and reasonable price. Everyone likes it. I mix it with a little Golden Flower sometimes and it's delicious that way too.

Strong oolong aroma in the packet. Smells like rain in a pine forest, with a hint of mint. Brews a pale straw color without any aroma or flavor, except a faint minty aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel but stronger than normal astringency.

Ali Shan is one of my favorite green oolongs. It’s light smooth and flavorful and I can get 3 steeping from this tea.

My favorite oolong tea hands down! If you're also an oolong tea fan this is a must try. I tend to savor this special tea more because of the price. It’s definitely worth it and it’s perfect for getting multiple steepings out of one cup. It has a very complex flavor that is very enjoyable with each new steeping.

This is a very nice tea. I have nothing bad to say about it. For the price though, I would probably get Sleeping Dragon which is almost as good, but cheaper.

Has a bit of jasmine to it (not as strong as actual jasmine teas), which wasn't mentioned in the description or other reviews. Seems more like a green than an oolong. Holds up well on resteeping. Given the price and high ratings, I would consider this overrated, but on its merits it's still good.

this is a nice mild oolong, well balanced that i enjoy when i want something other than my green tea selection on hand. The ali shan special sample i got from this shipment was also on point and would buy that as well if i had funds.

Nice surprise. I was curious due to the price. It's worth it! A very special tea.

A pleasant all day sipper, best prepared in a Yixing. Delicate floral and mineral notes giving way to smooth grassy notes with multiple infusions.

This is a tea that I feel like I would never get tired of--and I'm already regretting only getting a sample to start with. It has such a lovely, delicate flavor, almost reminiscent of a jasmine tea. Definitely works for multiple steepings, too.

I remember a review saying this one gets better after steeping it a few times, and I agree. It was very enjoyable just to drink all afternoon, but I think the price will keep me from buying more since I get the same amount of enjoyment out of cheaper oolongs.

This is a very delicate, slightly mineral-y green oolong. A friend and I ordered a bunch of ali shans from different companies to try, and this was by far the most delicate of them all. It improves on resteeping, and really does need to be brewed at a low temperature to really get the maximum taste from it. Brew it hotter, and it becomes a very 'green,' grassy oolong.

This is one of my favorite Adagio teas. It has a smooth, deep herbal flavor and works well on subsequent steepings.

My husband and I wanted to learn more about oolong, so much more ordered a lot of samples. Out of all the ones we ordered, this was our top favorite. It has a sweet floral flavor like eating honeysuckle flowers straight off the vine, but way more complex.

★★★☆☆

I think this oolong tea is very overrated. I was expecting it to have a sweet, nutty flavor but it didn't end up having much of a flavor at all. It smells expensive but even after 10 minutes of steeping, I couldn't get much flavor out of it. This was by far not the best oolong tea I've ever had.

A very rich tea that I swear could be a dupe for rose red tea you buy in the supermarket. It has a bold and earthy flavor that's perfect for slow sipping on a cold day. I would highly recommend for anyone that likes black tea or something special with dessert.

this makes a decent cup of oolong, no lie. i'm not always interested in oolong, but once in a while, i get a little hankering. my main problem with ali shan is it's color. as nice as the flavor is, the anemic dishwater color of the brewed tea just puts me off. aesthetics shouldn't be so important in tea, but for me, apparently it is.

It s pretty close to a green for me when brewed gonfu style. It has a nice, soft flavor to it. The flavor is pretty vegetal and floral to me.

Smooth, almost buttery flavor. Lighter in color than expected of an oolong. Easily became one of my favorites

I found this to be very mild in taste. I got some floral notes from it, but it’s not enough for me to say wow. Not bad to try but won’t be reordering.

I've been struggling with oolongs for the past couple weeks, but this one was amazing! It has such a nice, rich caramel flavor, it feels like a treat. At times, I taste cinnamon. Can't wait to play with 2nd and 3rd brews!

This is my favorite oolong, and one of the best Adagio teas all around. Yes, it's a bit expensive but worth every penny. It has a natural sweet/honey/citrus thing going on that I really love. 2 min @ 200 for the first steeping, and then I go 3 min @ 180 for the second.

2 min steep · 200°F · 2 helpful votes

Has a grassy smell, but that didn't stay in the flavor, more of a nuanced tea flavor. Oddly enough I though it might of had a soapy aftertaste, might have been something on my palate.

Tasty oolong with a nice body and floral notes. Holds up well with multiple steepings and tastes great even if you, like me, aren't very consistent with steeping time and temperatures. I got a sample of this and promptly went to buy more.

I was a little worried at first. Much lighter in color than my usual brew. But the taste was fantastic-subtle and not bitter. I used the same leaves a second time and the second cup was just as good. I’m going to used 1/2 as much next time as the steeped leaves completely filled my pot when they unfurled.
