Ali Shan Customer Reviews

Green oolong tea from Ali Shan, one of Taiwan's most famous tea growing areas. Beautiful high mountain oolongs come from its misty peaks. Warm sugar and deeply layered floral aromas, with a melting, creamy mouthfeel. Mellow and light-bodied.

★★★☆☆

Very light on the palette, maybe I didn't brew it long enough.

★★★★★

This was a nice smooth tea that I really enjoyed it was a good experience.

Reminiscent of a great ti kuan yin, good yellow color and floral aroma.

★★★☆☆

I didn't care for this tea. The taste was both bitter and weak.

★★★★★

This is currently my favorite tea from Adagio. Floral but not perfumy, it starts off with a hint of olive and then finishes with a lovely sweetness and lingering freshness. The flavor is light but rewarding, and the aroma is divine. The cost may seem prohibitive at first but the tea is well worth it.

Good oolong. shares a particular taste with oolong 18 which I prefer.

I didn't expect to like this tea, but it turned out to be excellent with lovely flavors of green apple and springtime.

Very nice experience. A unique taste of its own. An enjoyable smooth taste.

I would order this tea agaian. I liked the aroma but the taste is what it's all about and this was just right.

Fantastic--easily my favorite oolong. I tend to favor green teas, and this one had almost that delicate hint of green, with the floral oolong notes. Did not last long!

This tea is OK. IT's broad and light on the tongue with some bitter root in the finish. There is a little sweetness on the tip of the tongue but less than I was expecting. Also, it doesn't have the richness or creaminess that I was expecting. Still, it is a reasonably satisfying tea.

★★★★☆

Good..still like #18 more but this is a good tea but a little pricey.

★★★☆☆

Another oolong that just didn't cut if for me. I'm just not a fan of floral teas, but can certainly understand why this one is well-liked by those who do.

★★★☆☆

Very faint aroma when brewed. Most like Oolong #18, which you should get instead because it tastes better and costs less.

★★★☆☆

This is a very refined oolong, but not particularly to my taste. A bit too grassy for me; I prefer Jade oolongs.

★★★★☆

Not sure what it is about this tea but I do enjoy it. Will probably order again.

This Ali Shan is a great tea. It has taken over my #1 slot from Silver Needle White tea. Opening the container is almost like smelling a bowl of blueberries. It can certainly be a tea you have to experiment with to find what strength you like it. Do not give up after a first or second try if you think it's not for you. For myself I find a light brew, with just a faint amount of color is how I like it. 1 slightly heaping teaspoon with 8-10 oz of 190 degree water. Pre steep the leaves for 5 seconds in the water first to wake the leaves up. Than first steep 3 mins, second steep 4 mins, 3rd and 4th steeps 5 mins. This is how I like it, some may like it different, but for a light tea with a ton of flavor yet not overkill strong, this has worked great.

This tea smells phenomenal, though I was slightly disappointed by the flavor - still very good, though I think I'll continue stick with the Ti Kuan Yin instead.

This tea really is 'hauntingly' beautiful! It is sweet, complex, and dream-like. I am hooked.

A bit overpriced. Still a good tea that can be steeped a few times.

It's pretty expensive for a reason. I've been savoring over the sample I have, treating my friends to a sip whenever I make some. It is a delicious oolong, rightfully one of my favorites even if, sadly I will never actually bring myself to shelling out the money for a larger tin. Still, a very high quality tea.

Excellent!! If only it weren't so expensive it would become my daily tea!

Some of the finest tea I've ever tasted, and just unlike any other taste.

Not the absolute best alishan I have had, but for the price this is an excellent buy! The aroma and taste are both very pleasant and lasting. Get this tea!

Very different kind of tea, wasn't sure what to expect but it's still an experience. Probably won't buy again.

Good tea, though not one I'll likely add to my normal orders.

The kids and I love to watch the leaves unfurl while seeping. We think it's better than a display tea. I really like the flavor, too.

Similar to Pouchong, but also with similarities to Ti Kuan Yin. Light and fragrant. Excellent

I've had quite a few oolongs in my day and this one tastes completely unique from any of them. Not really floral, not really fruity, but something else I can't quite describe. This one makes a really thick brew that has a butter consistency. Pricey, yes, but I highly recommend it!

Very delicate, but complex. Make sure you use a LOT of water when steeping, because the volume of the leaves quadruples. A great afternoon tea.

I really like Ali Shan. I did a side-by-side taste test with another tea company and the other won BUT it was alot more expensive and only alittle bit better! So thumbs up from me!

This is my favorite tea from the whole website. It has a slight vegetal yet fruity flavor. Unlike others, i experienced no bitterness or touchiness with brew time or temperature. Highly reccomended!

★★★★★

Great. It has a very distinct strong taste without being overbearing.

★★★★☆

Smells slightly fruity when dry to me. The taste is a mix of very very light fruitiness and medium vegatable flavor like Kale. Be careful not to oversteep... test it out as you go until you learn what you like.

★★★☆☆

Not a bad tea. Not a great tea. It has a strong taste, which I really have to be in the mood to appreciate.

★★★★☆

A very interesting milder Oolong with refreshing floral tones. A touch too vegetal for me, but still very nice.

★★★★☆

A bit pricey, guess you get what your paying for. I'll stick to Pouchong though.

★★★☆☆

Definitely not my favorite oolong. A bit sensitive to oversteeping.

★★★★☆

This is a very good Ali Shan for the price, but I find it a bit vegetal for my liking.

I keep trying some samples of the oolong and I just can't get a taste for them. Keeps tasting like melted plastic to me

★★★★☆

this tea was ok, but it does not stand out, and offers nothing special.

★★★★★

This is so far my favorite tea from adagio. For the price its probally the best Taiwan Oolong i've had. I might change my mind after the tasting competition.

A very smooth Oolong. Just don't put in so much! This stuff really swells. Those who use tea-balls may have to adjust the steep time based how much you can get in. Get the sample and be happy! Savor for those special (quiet) times.

This is one great tasting tea. Has a nice smooth body and buttery taste and the color is light and golden. One of the best oolongs I've ever tasted.

This is a fun tea with jumpy flavor. It's a little more expensive, but it's worth it.
