Matcha Blueberry Customer Reviews

Only the finest, young, shade-grown gyokuro tea leaves are used to create matcha. The leaves are plucked and laid out flat to dry. Veins are removed and the leaves, now called tencha, are carefully ground in granite mills until they become the precious powder.

I mainly use the matcha in smoothies and lattes in the morning for a morning pick me up. I absolutely love this. Adds a nice subtle fruity flavor to my lattes.

I didn t think it was possible to top Matcha Peach, but the Matcha Blueberry is amazing.

My new love is Matcha. Love the great taste of this with a subtle blueberry flavor. Look forward to this everyday

I was very pleasantly surprised by this one -- I've been practicing Japanese tea ceremony for almost 15 years now, so my opinions of matcha are pretty strict, overall. (Hint, warm your bowl with the just-boiled water and let the tea whisk tines soften in that water. By the time you've emptied the bowl and wiped it dry, the water will have cooled enough to whisk.) The last time I tried a flavored matcha (not an Adagio brand), it was like drinking the ash from a Vegas ashtray - NASTY. So I used some points this time to redeem for this, because I didn't really want to spend much money on what might be a losing gamble!
The matcha itself is mild - a little more bitter than some Japanese brands (Aiya Sai Jo En, for example), but not bad at all. The blueberry 'flavor' is really more of a mild aroma than anything - I can't taste any additional sweetness or non-matcha notes when I drink this. I agree with other reviewers that it's nicer than the other fruit notes - I think the blueberry works better with matcha in general. (Muffin recipe idea, anyone?) Overall, a fun treat to add into my matcha rotation [when my teacher isn't watching ;) ] I whisk it up the same way I would my usual matchas - two chashaku scoops into a bowl, about 1/3 cup recently-boiled water, and whisk lightly (don't use any pressure on the bottom of the bowl or you'll be drinking bamboo pieces). It froths well and isn't clumpy.

disclaimer: this is my first matcha and my taste WILL DIFFER from yours and for me matcha is one of those acquired taste teas.
since i have started buying teas on this site i have varied my prep of the teas before reviewing them. i hope to give some sense of my experience with this tea.
i first tried preparing the traditional way via youtube instructions and i used a bamboo matcha set i got from ebay. i was ready to like this because i like blueberry and the calypso green was good. the scent from the bag was great. a slightly grassy blueberry, however i was not ready for the matcha flavor. i would equate it to an intense grassy/hay-like flavor with a seaweed like aroma. it basically went beast mode when you add water. as stated i tried traditionally (whisk until frothy & sip w/no sweetner)- fail, then with sweetner- not much help.
i then tried a latte version- added 3oz warm frothy milk w/sugar- getting better but the blueberry was lost by then. so added honey- and now i have a latte with a smooth but moderate matcha flavor- tolerable.
now this is the point where i think matcha may not be my taste, but i don't want to waste it so now its time to experiment. i decided to try to incorporate it into my protein shake. HEALTHY + HEALTHY= REALLY HEALTHY<--in my mind it works like that. i like use a vanilla ice cream flavored protein powder so i can change flavors by just adding fruit or flavorings for variety. so i make my protein shake (using milk) except i sift in 1/2tsp of matcha with the powder and shake until blended. then i mix in the tolerable matcha latte. experiment successful. i now have a vanilla matcha protein latte.
in all honesty i really wanted to like matcha, the health boosts i read about it really hyped me up. glad i found a way to utilize it. so now i will be adding to my shakes until i run out to see if i feel any differences before purchasing any more and will update later.
final review- you may like it if you REALLY like STRONG GREEN TEA. i have learned i like mellow green teas. you can incorporate it into many different drinks and foods to find something you like if you don't mind experimenting. i just can't do the tea.

The blueberry is really subtle. You smell it rather than taste it. My friend enjoyed it though

★★★★★

By far my favorite of the matchas. It has a nice, breathy blueberry flavor that isn't too overpowering, but is still noticeable. I like to blend it with the Jasmine Phoenix Pearls for an extra jazzed green tea!

Absolutely delicious! Delicate and genuine blueberry flavor, and the matcha is vibrant and very finely milled.

It's pretty good, it does have a little extra berry notes to it. Peach is my favorite though.

Pretty good tasting matcha. Please try fragrance and flavor. I will purchase this again.

★★★★☆

Good matcha with subtle blueberry flavor. I personally prefer the regular matcha tea.

★★★☆☆

Not my favorite. But I think matcha probably isn’t my thing.

★★★★☆

Pretty tasty, but I prefer classic matcha with no extra flavoring.

★★★★★

Delightfully blueberry flavored! Most that claim to be blueberry only smell like it, this has a nice blueberry flavor without overpowering.

★★★☆☆

Whisk into a smooth paste with a bit of the water before adding all the rest of the water. Good in the afternoon.

Delicious. Was drinking matcha for the benefits but didn't care much for the taste of the unflavored matcha tea. I love the taste of the blueberry matcha. So now I am enjoying the flavor and health benefits.

★★★★☆

This is a really good flavored matcha tea without sweeter. The blueberry flavor shines through even though the matcha flavor is much more prominent. This is a great addition to the matcha line!

★★★☆☆

This was just ok for me. I tried all of the whipping but still did not enjoy it. I do put it in my protein shakes

★★★★★

This tea is excellent for summer and a nice boost first thing in the morning.

★★★★★

Oh my, so yummy! When I initially opened the bag, the smell was glorious. After making the tea, it definitely didn't taste nearly as strong in blueberry flavor. A totally pleasant experience!

★★★★★

Of all the flavored matchas, this is my favorite. Nice blueberry flavor!

★★★★★

I didn't adagio's plain matcha and thought flavors would be cheating. Wow, I was wrong. This is delicious and offers just enough blueberry flavor to make it enjoyable without going over the top. My god, I now have black, white, green and matcha teas that I love!! My wife doesn't understand why I need so many varieties taking up space in our cupboard.

★★★★★

I'd say this is madness, Loki! But it's actually blueberries. Probably my favorite of the flavored Matchas. Some of the others were a bit too subtle for me, but this one hit it out of the park.

Oooof. This matcha. I would not go so far as to say I like it better than raspberry, but it is a close contender. It's inherently sweet in such a nice, delicate way. With sugar, it makes an amazing iced blended drink. This is really, really good iced, blended and sweetened or not.

★★★★★

Love it! This had a beautifully light flavor. Perfect with sweetener and milk.

★★★★★

It has a strong blueberry scent, a light blueberry flavor, and the same great matcha base as Adagio's other matchas. Very green and a little bit grassy, never bitter. And if you use the Adagio whisk with a little bit of hot water, it mixes up very smoothly.

★★★★★

I love this blueberry matcha. The flavored matchas are all excellent from adagio. They have just enough flavor for those of us new to the taste of matcha, but nothing cloying or overwhelming. Would purchase any of these flavored matchas again.

★★★★★

Strong blueberry odor upon opening bag, but a mild, pleasant taste when prepared. It has none of the 'seaweed' etc odor that some complain of matcha. This is excellent, I prefer it over the regular matcha! For newbies, this may be the way to go. I also prepared it in a smoothie and it was flat out awesome. A very pleasant hint of blueberry. I am so excited to like this flavor as the regular matcha can sometimes be a bit much for my sense of smell. Try it folks!

It s a combination of perfection. Most Delicious treat.
