I can't describe the smell of the dry tea and spices, but it wasn't pleasant and I was hesitant to steep it per instructions. This is a busy looking tea, pink peppercorn, apple pieces, and so much aniseed. 5 min @ 212 didn't improve the aroma, but I didn't smell smoke like other reviewers. Surprisingly, there wasn't a lot of flavor, or all the flavors just blended into nothing. It wasn't unpleasant to drink but there also wasn't anything distinguishable about it.

It was a good tea with nice flavors. I think the smoke to it wasn’t to my liking. Very high quality ingredients, though!

I wish this tea tasted just a liiitle bit more smoky! I like strong smoke flavor which this doesn't quite have. The taste of the peppercorn was more prominent to me. The tea is good, but it isn't one of my favorites.

Like drinking a cup of hot cider next to a fire on the side of a mountain. Very cozy! It's a very mild flavor and could benefit from a bit more spice, just feels like it's missing something. I enjoy it very much both with and without sweetener, but mostly prefer it on its own.

Toasty, spiced, and warm. I started with a sample but I can see myself ordering much, much more in the future.

While the flavor is rich and smokey, and I can appreciate the vibe this blend is going for, one could say that it's not my cup of tea. (Haha) the taste of smoke was a little overwhelming in comparison to the other flavors.

Amazing! One whiff and I was back camping in the great outdoors waking up next to a warming fire watching the deer graze in the early morning light.

This is my FAVORITE tea!!! Wish it was available all year but excited when fall rolls around. It is warm and toasty tasting- a little bit of spice. Just wonderful

Pleasantly smoky without being overbearing, still sweet enough as to not be offputting. Would take sugar and milk very nicely as well. This one is my favorite of the seasonal offerings for Fall. Overall a very agreeable cuppa.

I can’t decide if I like this one or not. The smokiness is so strong that I cannot taste the cider spices, peppercorns and fruit flavors in the description. It is interesting. I’ll have to try it a few more times to finish forming an opinion. After first taste, this blend could use more spice if its name is Bonfire.

That was like drinking liquid smoke. Not something that I would have expected.

I think that this tea is very interesting! I enjoy the cinnamon touch but I can see that if brewed too long can become overwhelming. I think it works well with a splash of milk as well!

love it, really good flavors, wish it was around all the time. Always a family favorite and we have to get a big bag whenever we can.

I would REALLY like this tea, if it didn't have the red peppercorns. Red peppercorns tends to get very perfumed with a longer steep, and trigger my migraine. Usually I pick the peppercorns out before steeping, but that's a bit of a faff.

So, the pink peppercorn add an odd taste and I wouldn't call it bonfire-y but I crave it and it calls to me. I'm reordering it now.

I absolutely love this tea. I’ve gotten this one on repeat, and tends to be a go-to tea for me at the end of the day. Subtle and sweet, not bitter or overwhelming. Great for reading, working on those late nights, writing.

The Good: It smells wonderful and reminds me of fall. There's a nice smokiness from the lapsang souchong
The bad: The taste is undrinkable. It tastes like swallowing liquid smoke you put on a vegetarian bbq dish. I couldn't get past 2 sips. Either the lapsang souchong needs dulled down or some other smoky element needs removed. Way too overpowering.

It actually tastes like a bonfire! Or, rather the smell on your clothes after you've been around. Peppercorns are particularly effective here.

A very warming, spiced tea for winter, it makes for an interesting change of pace. I liked it, but I did find the cinnamon taste to be very strong; that lingering taste of cinnamon probably kept me from enjoying this tea more than I otherwise would have.
★★★☆☆
a decent tea, but nothing particularly exciting. I wish there were more smokiness to it, i think that would make the name feel more appropriate
★★★☆☆
This was a little bit on the bitter side, I liked the peppery-ness but the kids were less than fond of it.

something about the smokey-notes from the Lapsang Souchong and the off-sweetness from the Honeybush do not blend well together.
★★★☆☆
This has a smoky note that someone else might enjoy, but I find off putting. It just mixes strangely with the fruity and spicy flavors. I thought I would enjoy it, but it’s sadly just bearable.

Love this tea! If you are a fan of smoky teas like lapsing souchong you will probably like this fruity tea. It’s a little sweet, a little fruity, a little smokey and just right for the holidays. It has a lovely fragrance that will make you want to settle in and cozy up.

I wasn't sure about this one when I smelled it, but I ended up really liking it when I tried it. Good hot or cold.
Update: Still one of my favorite teas years later!

This is a really interesting tea, I first got a sample of this tea out of curiosity and really enjoyed it. If you want a warm tea on a cold winter night, this hits the spot.

Cinnamon is too overpowering. It seems that is always a problem. I cannot taste any of the other flavors.

I enjoyed this tea the first time I ordered it. However, I just reordered it and there is a very unpleasant aftertaste in this sample of tea. Not sure what it is but I am throwing it away and changing my rating.

I use a little more loose leaf than suggested let it steep a little longer, too, to get more flavor. Very cozy aroma - perfect for chilly days.
★★★☆☆
This blend has a pleasant flavor up front but the aftertaste is very strange, and I don't know if I enjoy it or not. (Cold brewed for 10 hours)

This tea's name is very reflective of its taste; smoky with a sweet spice. The Lapsang Souchong was not overpowering in my first cup.

I've had Lapsang before so I was plenty aware of how stout it could be flavor wise, saying that I still enjoy it. This mix however is not for me, as something in it is very cloying and overpowering. I cannot pinpoint what it is exactly, but mixed with the bitter smokiness of lapsang it's; strange.
I wouldn't call it inherently bad as savory teas go, but it's an experience. The smell is quite potent and does stick to used up tea leaves and the like.

This tea has a very BOLD and smokey flavor, not for the faint of heart. It's not a terrible tea, it just wasn't what I expected.

This is such a fabulous tea for winter time. I love curling up with this in front of a fire or electric heater. I want to try this as a hot toddy soon.

I HATE smoke taste in my drinks. If you are a Scotch drinker and love that charcoal flavor, this is the tea for you!!! Not my cup of tea at all. I just dumped the rest of the sampler in the compost bin. No one in the household likes it. Very very very smokey.
★★★★★
I really enjoyed this! A nice blend of spice, hazelnut, and a touch of smoke from the lapsang, but not too much (it's easy to overdo in blends). A perfect tea now that the nights are getting crisp.

This tea sure delivers, and it is not for me. Very smokey, but not as overwhelming as straight lapsang souchong.

Cream and sugar definitely helped! I am not a fan of Lapsang at all, but this one was tolerable! Though, I think I just like cream and sugar!

I’m just not sure about this tea for me. I don’t mind a smoky flavor in teas but this just didn’t quite have enough overall flavor for me. It could have been my fault for brewing it at 195F instead of 212F. I’m hoping to have another chance to try it again. It did have promising hi tus of flavors.

Given the mixed reviews I didn’t know how this would turn out. I actually found this tea to be very pleasant (and it is going great with my creamy dark chocolate candy). The smoky aroma was present but didn’t overpower the overall flavor. A bit of a sharpness but not unpleasant. (212, 5 min, 3.4 g 14 oz).

I’m not a big Lapsang Souchong fan so I wasn’t sure what to expect with this tea. The smoky flavor was not overwhelming and I really enjoy the tea! It’s great with a splash of almond milk.

Nuanced smoky, earthy, spicy and so so good with a little milk and sugar.

For me, this cup smelled a lot better than it tasted. I could make out some subtle smokiness from the lapsang, as well as notes of anise, cinnamon, and orange, but overall, it was too bland for me to enjoy.
★★★★☆
Somehow this does tasted exactly like a bonfire! Very smokey tasting. Enjoyable enough with sugar, honey and milk but not enough to drink again

I was not able to drink this. I could taste nothing but the smokiness of the Lapsang Souchong. A shame, because I expected to enjoy this given the other ingredients.

When I smelled my tea this morning I was instantly transported to the section of EPCOT's Spaceship Earth where Rome is burning.
This tea just missed the mark for me. I feel like I took a handful of campfire ash and steeped it. Perhaps a too literal interpretation of 'bonfire' for my tastes.
Update 09/27/22: still a no for me
