I was slightly disappointed with my first sip of this tea-- but as I swallowed, I got a solid taste of the smokey flavor that gives this tea its name! WOW. Is there liquid smoke in this? It sure tastes like it!
Anyway, it was nice to have a mild tea with a smokey aftertaste. Very unique. You could say it was a... noveltea. *ba-dum tsss*

This blend smells truly fantastic - if it were a perfume, I would have no complaints. But I just can t quite get my head around how smokey it is. I have enjoyed Russian Caravan tea from a different vendor before and that was pretty smokey, but this is a bit overwhelming. I did enjoy this one OK with coconut milk added (or cream if that s your thing), but not enough to purchase it again.

The reviews did mark this as smoky, and boy howdy they were NOT joking. After brewing, getting a big whiff of the aroma smells just like fireplace smoke-- so the name is apt. The taste? Well, I'm not over the moon about it. I've tried both of the autumn blends and neither of them impressed me. I even took the advice of other reviews and mixed this with Hazelnut, and still it's a no go. I'm glad I only got the sampler.

When I first opened the bag, I must say, it smelled like nothing but oranges. The whole kitchen smelled strongly of orange, almost like the floor had been mopped with a scented cleaning chemical. That smell is not at all reflected in the scent of the tea when it s been brewed, or the taste. Once steeped, it smells and tastes uniquely smoky, with just a hint of citrus in the aftertaste. I only ordered it because Autumn Mist had run out when I was ordering, but Bonfire is a pleasant surprise and a smooth drink.

★★★★☆

I'm not a big fan of super fruity teas and almost all the herbal teas are packed with fruit taste. I was therefore super happy to find that this one had enough of a smokey flavor to override too much sweetness or fruitiness. I'll definitely be adding it to my super small list of favorite herbal teas :).

★★★☆☆

A bit too much aniseed flavor for me to really love this one, but it really does taste kind of like a bonfire: smoky and hot.

★☆☆☆☆

I was so looking forward to this tea, and it just wasn t for me. The scent is too cloying and sweet, I only took one sip before dumping it down the drain.

★★★★★

I cant believe how much I got. It really smells like a bonfire and has a toasty marshmellow flavor yum.

★★★★☆

I really like this tea. It really surprised me how it seems to smell exactly like a bonfire. It's pretty amazing.

★☆☆☆☆

I wanted to like this. I really did. But the anise overpowers everything, including the lapsang souchong, which I hadn't realized was possible. To me, this just tastes like peppery licorice, which is not great.

★★★★★

I expected to be lukewarm on this, as I generally don't enjoy smokey teas, but this one is just sufficiently evocative of smoke without really tasting of it. I love the spiciness the peppercorns add to it. This is a welcome addition to my regular rotation of autumnal teas--it embodies everything pleasant and memorable about the season.

★★★★☆

I was on the fence on this one at first, but I've really warmed up to it (pun intended). It smells like a Christmas candle, but fortunately has a smoky, peppery cinnamon taste. Pairs very well with whiskey (including fireball whiskey) if you want to adult up your tea on a cozy Friday night.

It was all right, something was off that I couldn't describe it, but it was a good experimental tea.

Bonfire indeed! Reminds me of the romantic and nostalgic flavors of autumn! Love having this to share with friends and roomies on chilly fall nights.

This tea is fascinating in a lot of different ways. First smell, it was very fruity and citrusy. I shook the bag a little, and it's spicier. Shake the bag again, and it's back to fruity. Once brewed, it's kinda the same way. Very complex, with different flavors flickering about, citrus, spice, and a very slightly dry finish. I like it with just a touch of honey, as it is naturally sweet.

Boy did they hit the nail on the head with this taste. Unfortunately it tastes sooty like an actual bonfire. Not my cup of tea! (no pun intended, lol!)

I’m still not 100% sure how I feel about this tea.

★★★★☆

This is a very pleasant tea. The aroma is very warm and inviting.

★★★★★

This is probably my favorite tea I've ever gotten from Adagio! It's got a scent of orange but I don't find the flavor overpowering. It's a nice smooth smoky taste with just a bit of fruit note aftertaste. I really don't know how they got the atmosphere of a bonfire into a cup of tea, but they succeeded!

The anise in this (and the overwhelming smoke flavor) drowns out any other flavor voices. You can t taste anything else but that. Pass.

Love this. Tastes like fall without having a cinnamon taste. Borderline smokey but the apple makes it sweet enough to balance it out.

★★★☆☆

I am not sure what I expected from this tea. It tastes and smells as advertised but I did not care for the smokey flavor

★☆☆☆☆

This really does smell like a bonfire. It tasted okay? But I couldn't get past the smell... Only had a couple sips, tbh. Not my thing...

★★★★☆

This blend intrigued me when I saw red peppercorns in the description. I admittedly was a little nervous but it is actually quite fantastic. It has the right amount of spice, and the right amount of smooth. Delish!

★☆☆☆☆

I should have read the full ingredient list before committing to this one. Lapsang Souchong and I do NOT get along. And the combination of that with honeybush is decidedly not my thing at all. The dry tea smells horrendous. I thought I might be able to power through the smell and discover some hidden gem. Not so much here. This blend is off-putting and not to my taste.

★★★★☆

This has a sweet and smokey vibe for me which I liked so much for fall! Like sitying around a campfire!

★★★★☆

This tea surprised me in the best of ways. I really wanted to try it but I just wasn't sure I'd like it at all since I'm not the biggest fan of lapsang (read: the last time I tried it, it actually made me a bit ill.) But I love autumn and this one sounded good.

When I first opened it, I found the smell...odd and worrying. The orange is strong but the other scents blended in to make something I just really was not expecting.

The taste, however, is really great! The smokiness is subtle and not at all overpowering - just enough to make one think of fall bonfires (but not enough to feel like you're sipping liquid bacon). The orange is way more subtle than I expected and, honestly, all the flavors blend so well that no one thing stands out or overpowers the rest. All in all, I'm really glad I tried it, and look forward to my second cup!

I love this tea and didn't think I would. It's scent is strong and not altogether pleasant. But the taste... I really like the slight orange flavor. Bonfire is a perfect name for this smoky tea.

★★★★★

I almost didn't order this one in fear that the lapsang would overpower everything else but this is very well balanced, and such a wonderful fall tea to drink without adding anything to it.

★★★☆☆

Reminds you of eating your marshmallow after it has caught on fire. That burnt to a crisp smokey sweetness. This tea is very mild - I would have enjoyed it more if the flavors were stronger.

★★★★★

This one is complex, but very nicely balanced- bonfire is an excellent name, as it's warm and comforting and just a little smoky.

★★★★☆

Other reviewers mentioned this tea having a strong anise flavor, and I agree with them on that. I really enjoy that flavor so it was no big deal for me, but it's definitely not something that is universally loved. Although the name 'bonfire' doesn't seem very fitting, it's still quite good. Like a warm fall pastry.

★★★★★

I don't know how they got a tea to simulate a bonfire, but they did! I LOVE this flavour! It has a warm, enveloping taste with the right amount of both zing and comfort.

A good tea but a little too smokey for me in profile. I might try adding more sugar the next time that I make it.

I love this tea, it tastes just like apple cider when done right

★☆☆☆☆

I read in other reviews that Bonfire was not smoky at all, or enough. I dislike smoke, so I ordered, wanted to try something new & hopeful that the 'smoke' flavor was not dominant. The smell of the tea in the bag was lovely, with only a faint hint of smoke. Then I made the tea, only steeping for 2 or 3 minutes. The smoke taste was strong! I hated it. But this tea IS aptly named 'bonfire' indeed. It tastes like a mouthful of woodsmoke and burning leaves. If you like that, you'll love this tea. Sadly, I did not.

This tea is like the essence of fall. The smell when you first brew it is very smoky, but the flavor is surprisingly balanced. The lapsang souchong gives a good, smoky note to the overall blend, but it's also a lot sweeter than the aroma would lead you to expect, and gets more so the closer you get to the bottom of the cup. Spices and apples are the predominant flavors, and it really doesn't need anything in the way of honey or sugar. There's probably a little caffeine from the lapsang, but I haven't noticed that it keeps me up if I have a cup at night. This might be just the autumn treat I've been looking for.

The smoky flavor is a bit subdued but this is still a wonderful tea nonetheless. It also smells great!

★★★★☆

At first I wasn't sure if I liked this tea or not, but now I find it to be okay. Not sure if I would order it again.

★★★★★

Much more orangey than I was expecting. Still very good, but I wish the other flavors came through a bit more. I had hoped it would be a bit more smoky from the lapsang souchong, but I can always add that myself.

★★★★☆

It smells almost like a chocolate orange and tastes...creamy. Like they blended in their cream flavored tea. The apple and orange flavor comes through best in the aftertaste but I didn t really taste any smokiness or any of the spices. It s a very good tea and I ll enjoy having it in my cold mornings while the sample lasts.

The smokey smell can be a little offputting for those who aren't expecting it, but it's a nice orange-spicy tea that brings good fall feelings. Take a whiff, and you'll be reminded of a cool fall night in the country.

By the time I got around to it last year it was sold out! So I jumped this year. Much creamier than I expected, and somehow spicy on the back end as well. Very yummy!

Its, okay to say the best. The smell is quite reminiscent of black licorice, but the taste doesn t match and its missing something, Im just not sure what. This tea really isn t my cup of tea so to speak.

I was hoping for a little more spice and smoke in this tea- the flavor tends more toward fruity/creamy than I d prefer. Overall pretty good, but just has a little too much going on without any distinct leading flavor.

★★★☆☆

This sounded interesting to me. I am just not a fan of Honeybush.

★★★★★

This tea. Oh man. It's like doing something X-rated with the season of fall. I can feel it from my head to my toes. It actually scared me a bit the first time I tasted it, but now I'm just in love. Soooooo glad I got 3oz instead of a sample.

It s a well made blend. But I wasn t crazy about it. With the idea of bonfires, I was hoping for a more peppery/smoky tea.

★★★★★

A cinimamon tea with a slight but noticeable anise flavor to it.

★★★★☆

A nice fall tea - nothing crazy going on here, just coziness
