Blood Orange Customer Reviews

Deep vibrant color and sweet flavor. Hearty with a good balance of orange peel dryness and fruit juiciness.

I thought this tea was delicious. I followed another reviewer's suggestion and used a bit of extra water, expecting the tea to be strong. However, when I tried it while still hot, the flavor was kind of bland. I decided to add a packet of rock sugar to see what would happen, and the addition of the sugar really brought out the orange flavor in a beautiful way. As it cooled, it began to taste even better, as the orange flavor came even more to the forefront. I would recommend drinking this tea sweetened and cool or even cold, for a deliciously sweet and refreshing beverage.

Luscious, juicy orange flavor comes through bright and clear, accentuated with a tart edge from the hibiscus. It brewed into a lovely jewel tone, and adding a splash of milk created a strawberry milk shade of pink that was so pretty. I'd drink it again.

I’m already quite familiar with today’s CommuniTEA choice as part of the Orchard Herbals sample box (I highly recommend sample and sample boxes, btw). It’s very enjoyable but if you’re like me and you feel a little hibiscus goes a long way, it’s worth cold brewing or adding a bit of sweetener to round out any excessive tartness.

This tea is so good! ive had in many blends but never alone. I love the tartness with the bold orange flavor, I added some honey but not enough to quell the zip, coldbrewed overnight and it's phenomenal!

This certainly is an orangey tea! It's not to my taste but it's very zingy and zesty.

This is one of my top three favorite tisanes so far. It's delicious on it's own or mixed with other teas. It's especially good with black tea. Favorite tisanes so far are kona pineapple, raspberry patch and blood orange.

Love the Blood Orange tea. Fruity and tart, it's great as part of a mix for iced tea blends, just to add a citrus punch. It's also nice as a hot tea by itself, which is how I'm drinking it now.

★★★★★

Deliciously tart tea!! The blood Orange made a beautiful crimson color when steeped. Loved the tart flavor, sweetened with a little bit of tea, making it a great way to end the day!

The aroma…the color…the taste! This tea delivers what is promised. Tangy, sweet, fruity goodness. This is always in my tea cabinet. Great hot, but makes a wonderful iced tea. Also, great to blend with other teas for a little citrus kick. Love with decaf ceylon for a comforting cup of black tea in the evening. Steeped at 212° for 10 mins. Cheers!

I'm not a huge fan of fruit teas. I always find them lacking, and that was no different here. But as fruit teas go, this one was pretty good. The hibiscus and orange pair well together and it is a refreshing cold drink. I just feel like it's lacking some deeper flavors and base notes.

I cold brewed this. I threw the portion sample into about 12 ounces of cold water and left it to steep for roughly 8 hours. After tasting, I stired in about a 1/4 tsp of brown sugar. It was tart and refreshing, with all the promised flavors.

★★★★☆

It's a pleasant herbal tea but there is not a great deal of orange flavor.

Tried this tea / tisane brewed for 7 min at 212. Hot to chilled this was delicious. It was tart and tangy with a nice citrus flair. Others in the CommuniTea mentioned cold brewing this one and it seems like a great option for iced tea. A perfect way to hydrate with flavor but without calories!

Enjoyed the Blood Orange as a CommuniTEA sample. The dry tea smells wonderful, and steeps to such an intense red. Definitely don't want to spill this one! The hibiscus adds quite a bit of tartness that kick the salivary glands into gear, causing me to promptly add some honey (which brought the orange flavor forward). I sipped hot, but then was distracted and enjoyed the rest of the cup cold. Good both ways.

This is a fantastic tea. Not too tart, great orange flavor. Will try it iced. Added to wish list

Like others, I found this tea to be tart. However, after I added a little liquid stevia, it almost had a fruit punch flavor to it. The orange flavor was strong, as it should be- without being too much. Overall, I really enjoyed it- especially for a herbal tea.

I cold brewed this one over night and drank it iced. Very tart, more hibiscus flavor than orange. It was refreshing but it needed more orange flavor.

I love a good orange flavor, & this one doesn't disappoint. My only sticking point is the hibiscus. With the right amount it can add a tangy twist, but too much can be overpowering.

What a wonderful tisane. It brews up to a gorgeous, bright color and tastes tart and full of fresh orange flavor.

I’ve had this before in the best seller portion sampler. Both times, I was a little underwhelmed. Mostly because I’m just not really an orange person. It’s a little bland when hot, however, there’s a really prominent orange flavor that comes out as it cools

Today's communiTea packet is blood orange, made with orange, hibiscus, rose hips and orange flavor. I remembered that it was a little weak when I tried it before, so I only used 8 ounces of water and let it steep about 20 minutes. The aroma was lovely, as was the bright clear color. It definitely had more flavor than the last time I tried it, but this time it was a little on the sour side. There may have been more hibiscus this time, or I still may not have found my ideal steeping conditions. A pleasant drink, though. Steeped for 20 minutes in 8 ounces of water at 205 degrees.

Tisanes are often too mild for my taste, but Blood Orange is an exception. The richness of the citrus balances nicely with the hibiscus to provide a distinct and enjoyable cup, both hot and over ice. Great unsweetened, and even better with a touch of agave.

I love this tea. On point blood orange flavor and not too sweet or too tart. I brewed a little longer but cooler for more orange flavor.
Edit: I find that this tea blends nicely with Honeybush Vanilla or Decaf Vanilla for a creamsicle-type tea. This tea is quite hibiscus and rose-hip heavy, so those that are not a fan of those tart ingredients, be mindful. This tea also cold-brews well, and also does the 'quick cold' of pouring some boiling water on the tea for 5 minutes before filling the vessel with more water and chilling for iced tea with less wait. I have a pound of this tea, and am almost through it!

This is yet another tea that's aroma out of the (CommuniTEA) pouch belies its flavor. The scent immediately reminded me of orange soda, but after an overnight cold steep to keep the hibiscus at bay, the vibrant red brew produced a light, bitter orange flavor that might have been more pleasant had I bothered to sweeten it. It was refreshing enough, albeit somewhat flat and certainly not as naturally sweet as I was expecting given the aroma dry.

Today's packet opened to release plentiful fresh and zesty blood orange aromas. An herbal tea steep at 212ºF for 7 minutes.created a scarlet pink brew.

Blood orange zest provided a very tangy and aromatic flavor. Hibiscus adds more tartness to almost simulate a citrus-like acidity. While I'm not a huge fan of hibiscus, for some reason it actually blended in a balanced way, without becoming too overly tart. I decided to try adding some of Adagio's honey for rooibos to the cup to tame down some of that hibiscus tartness. This did the trick and created a really tasty blood orange tisane.

Overall this was a good zero caffeine blend with plenty of blood orange, as promised! Would make for a nice iced summertime tea, or even just any time.

Cold-brewed this, and it was good (I think better than it would have been as a hot brew), but exceptionally strong. For people who like a fruit tea that hits you in the face, especially orange, this is great, if a bit single-note.

Edit update: Love this one more and more all the time. I use 2 heaping tsps for my large 16 oz cup and steep for at least 10 minutes. No sweetener needed but if I’m feeling under the weather at all I add some manuka honey. This one is good cold but hot is my favorite. I get this one by the pound, never want to run out.

Really like this one but feel like the orange could be even stronger. Just a bit sweet and tart with a lovely citrus taste overall.

I never thought I would click love it when I voted on it on the Communitea page. I got a free sample maybe last year and didn't like it. Add some sugar, you get a different tea. One you were expecting. Unfortunately, I won't resteep due to the hibiscus which gives it the red color. You lose the red color in resteepings. I'll consider buying.

Love the strong citrus flavor. Brewed this for 7 minutes (wasn’t sure since package stated 5 to 10) and was pleased with how it came out. Also very refreshing when iced.

Drinking along with the CommuniTEA: Strong orange/citrus scents from the dry ingredients and packet. Once steeped for 5 mins at 212° F, I notice a deep ruby liquid in my cup due to the hibiscus. When I take a sip, I notice a very tangy, pucker-worthy citrus tea. For me hibiscus is the predominant ingredient. If that is your cup of tea, this is one for you try.

1 Sep 2020 review: All of the advertised ingredients were seen in the bag. Plenty of orange peels and aromas were also noted. I’m not normally a lover of hibiscus. In this case it works by infusing a tartness needed for the orange peel that allows this blend live up to the name of blood orange. From start to finish this had the overall flavor of a blood orange-cranberry juice. I added some sugar to bring out the flavors and tone down tartness. I actually liked this one. Might be pretty good iced if you extend the steep time or cold brew and add plenty o sugar. (5 mins @ 212ºF, 1/2 tsp sugar)

The smell and color of the tea is beautiful. The taste was a little tangy but I was expecting it. I added some rock sugar with hopes of brining out the hibiscus. This tea is different, not bad, but if you like sweet tea it might not be a favorite.

Smells like tart orange. The flavor is dominated by tart hibiscus and rose hips, but there is a rich orange-ness that comes through. This would be better sweetened, iced and garnished with orange slices.
