Zhejiang Lung Ching Customer Reviews

Pan-firing in a hot wok brings out the classic warm, roasted chestnut notes inherent in the leaf and in this case a hint caramelized sugar and crisp floral essence.

★★★★★

I like this nice sweet tasting tea. It is a little subtle.

I am slightly disappointed with this tea. Being as expensive as it is I was hoping for a bolder flavor. It was somewhat mild for me. If it weren t so expensive I would buy it again but I don t think it s worth what it costs.

★★★★★

I was hesitant to spend so much of my gift certificate on one tea, but this is SO worth it. Delicious.

★★★☆☆

I like green teas - but this seems a little too delicate, even for me. I'm by no means a tea afficianado - but I'm pretty sure it steeped long enough and the water was plenty hot enough. Still, a pleasant cup.

★★★☆☆

Cute wee green leaves that smell like fresh-mown alfalfa look as though they have been pressed in a book. The pale green brew is mild, with no bitter astringency. I have roasted chestnuts myself and this has the same exact scent - and flavor - as hot, freshly-roasted chestnuts. I really don t notice any caramelized sugar or floral essence at all, in fact, the taste is rather vegetal for my liking. Perhaps lovers of green tea would rate this higher than I, but it was only ok for me. It didn t quite meet the descriptive, which is why I gave it but 3 stars. (4 mins@190)

It's a pretty standard green tea, per my tasting. Like a higher-quality version of what you'd get at just about any moderately nice Asian restaurant. I didn't get the caramelized sugar notes, but I could see the warm chestnut and floral interpretation.

★☆☆☆☆

Absolutely awful smell - exactly like stale cat urine - quite probably the WORST tea experience of my life. And even worse, the tin was UNDER WEIGHT. (1.7g instead of 2g). I communicated this to Adagio and was told that since I let them know after the 30-day return period, I was out of luck. A tea product doesn't magically lose 15 of itself after 30 days, folks. All I can say is that if my 8-ounce bags of Jasmine Silver Needle (at ~$50/bag) that I've been buying for years from Adagio are underweight (as now I'm compelled to weigh one of them), I will NOT be a happy camper. Meanwhile, stay FAR away from this Zhejiang Lung Ching. It tastes slightly better than it smells, but that's not saying much. Very disappointed in this 'Masters' 97-rated tea.

Another favorite! This is great for a relaxing treat.

★★★★★

Very nice green tea. Creamy mouth feel and a great rich flavor. Has some floral notes and finishes clean with subtle green bitterness. Very enjoyable.

This is exquisite! Clean, floral, slightly sweet, crisp finish...pretty much everything written by Adagio about this tea. Probably the best oolong I've had to date.

Awesome! I always drink this in the mornings and it tastes great.

★★★★☆

I find this tea to be very mild. When properly steeped, the tea is a pale to medium gold. Flavor is slightly savory-sweet. I added 2 pebbles of rock sugar.

Interesting - this is a tea that I think takes developing a taste for. I think it is growing on me. Had to wait though till my pot came it is supposed to be brewed in.

Made me feel very dehydrated for some reason, but a nice rich flavor.

★★★★☆

Slight floral notes with some nutty aroma and taste. Very nice pleasant tea to drink in the evening.

A sold green tea that steeps well and tastes good hot as well as cold.

★★★★☆

Very light in flavor. I was hoping for something a little bit more defined. I did get a very nice 'uplifted' effect from it without the heavy feeling that often follows a caffeinated beverage.

Green teas are my preferred teas. my usual cup is gunpowder, sleeping dragon, dragon well or sencha premier. That said, the main thing I noticed about this tea is its astringency followed by a slightly floral, slightly sweet taste. There was very little vegetable taste to the tea (which is good. I've had to school myself to tolerate that in senchas which I love for the beautiful color and smell) I have to say though that if this is a dragon well type of green tea, I prefer the ordinary grades. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it because I did but it isn't worth the extra money to me. I really enjoyed trying it though.

I think that the flavor of this tea does relate to Dragonwell but on a much light note. Overall a good tea though.

★★★★☆

Lacks the grassy notes that you would usually associate with a green tea and replaces them with warmer, nuttier flavors. Like most green teas this is quite sensitive to being over-brewed (and at the price a bad cup is a costly mistake) so be careful with your steeping times.

★★☆☆☆

This must not be a very fresh flush. It's lacking the stronger grassy undertones I'm used with other longjing. I had to increase the steeping temperature and time to get any sort of flavor out of it.

I bought this as a gift for a friend and she loved it. Said that it was very mild, almost like a green/white blend, but had a wonderful flavor. After a few sips, the nutty notes really shone through.

This tea is very tasty, and you really can't say no with the current sale price!

★★★★☆

If I had to choose between two 'master' green teas, I'd definitely choose shincha over this one. zhejiang lung ching is okay for a green tea. It's very subtle. Not bitter at all, but just doesn't have that lovely grassy odor I love from the Shincha. It's a little less prominent, I think.

★★★★☆

I enjoyed this tea! I had it first thing in the morning. A nice way to start the day with a little boost

★★★★★

This tea is very smooth and not bitter at all. It has a great floral smell

★★★☆☆

I think I'm kinda spoiled. But I tend to find Adagio's Long Jings a bit bland. I also don't seem to get that many steepings out of them.

★★★★☆

Warm, almost toasted smell. Flavor is a bit weak for the price.

How could I resist trying a tea named for a myth about a friendly dragon in a well? I followed the brewing instructions precisely but was doubtful about how the tea would come out -- the tea was very pale and the leaves did not expand but remained small and flat. I was pleased that looks were deceiving. The flavor is delicate, sweet, nutty, and feels somehow pure and healthy. I have never tried a Dragonwell green tea before, so I have no way to compare this Masters' special premium tea with another version of this tea, but I found this very enjoyable and would order it again.

While I think I prefer jasmine and flavored greens over straight, this was an interesting deviation from my usuals. It was toasty, maybe smoky and/or nutty, and clung to my mouth like cream - a sort of heavy, lingering sensation. In no world would I use the word 'vegetal' to describe this tea. Neither would I call it floral, as others have. Toasted, it's definitely toasted. My palate may not be as sharp as some others, though! In short - not my thing, would not reorder. worth trying out for the experience anyway (especially when on sale for $7).

I thought the flavor was just ok. but nieces love this

This had a lighter flavor than I usually prefer in my green tea, but was very refreshing and aromatic. I would brew it extra long to get the most flavor out of the leaves.

★★☆☆☆

The sample I received tasted quite old... not much flavor and had a musty quality that I found unappealing, like it had been sitting on the shelf for quite some time. I was expecting a more fresh taste.

★★★★★

I decided to sample this tea from the masters collection instead of the regular Dragonwell because it only cost $4 more and includes the reusable tin.
I think this tea is absolutely delicious! Light in color and strong in flavor. Delicately sweet with a sort of toasty nuttiness I adore. A new favorite for sure!

This tea was so very light and interesting. It smells like no other tea I have brewed before. Its almost citrusy. The flavor was very light and crisp. A very nice tea.

I've only had one cup of this so far, but I really liked it. A nice, subtle change on the traditional green tea. Not as flowery, but a touch of sweetness.

I bought this tea for a friend, but haven't tried it myself. However, he raved about how much he like it.

Not worth the price. This showed up with one of my orders, the invoice had the tea on it but I wasn't charged. Then 2 weeks later, I was charged. Since I'd already opened it, I couldn't return it. I used the last of my bonus points and will never order from adagio again. That being said, I have tried many, many teas including Silk Road Teas, who exclusively source from China. This tea was bland and lifeless.

★★★☆☆

This lung ching (aka dragonwell) tasted a bit too grassy and bitter compared to some other lung ching's I've tried from other sellers. It is possible that it needs to be brewed much lighter than I did (less leaves or lower temperature). It seems very sensitive to getting the right brew time.

I laugh when I say that this tea has a solid yet delicate, refined woody flavor. But it's true! And I naturally enjoy this version so much better than the less expensive grade, of course. I think it's worth its price.

Interesting tea, that is a great addition to what I have tried this year.

★★★★☆

IMHO not significantly better than the 'regular' dragonwell, and not as good as 'fresh' dragonwell from China.

This is a very roasty China green tea. It is pretty mild and doesn't have a ton of flavor, but it is still a good drinking tea. I just like Japanese greens better

★★★★★

The distinct earthy and grassy taste of dragonwell. The flavor might be too strong for some, but I really enjoy it.

This tastes like a deeper, stronger dragonwell. It is very grassy with a bit of nutty thrown in. Given that, the insane price tag to me is not worth it. Good, but not THAT good.

This was rather mild...I am not sure it it worth the extra price.
