I did not get the fruity notes but the flavor was good. It tasted more like an oolong than a green tea which I was not expecting. But not bad at all.
Tightly rolled fuzzy buds give a soft, fruity sweetness enfolded by a rich, smoky note similar to gunpowder, but more complex and crisp.

I did not get the fruity notes but the flavor was good. It tasted more like an oolong than a green tea which I was not expecting. But not bad at all.
A favorite of my home-- it's a darker, earthy oolong with a nice mineral flavor and clear aroma. It's a really solid blend, especially when you're looking for something a bit more simple. Takes multiple steepings exceptionally well.
A nice, soothing tea. A nice alternative for gunpowder if I want a less smokey tea.
It's a rather mild green tea, but it smells good! And tastes amazing!
Got this as a sample. Will buy some more. It's a great green tea and has an excellent taste. It woke me up in the morning and made me feel great throughout the day!
I'm a big fan of this. I found the gunpowder to be a little too overpowering but this one is just right.
I'm not a fan of Green tea, so I thought I'd give them another try because the description implied that it was a good one for those that don't normally like Green Tea. Well, I can now say that I've tried it, and I still don't like Green tea.
I let the boiling water wait a while and then steeped the tea and forgot about it for a little while longer. Then I drank it, and it was floral and creamy and a little toasty after steeping for a while. It has a beautiful yellow brew at short steeps and gains some red coloring after a while. At low temperatures it doesn't get bitter, just more savory. It is similar in flavor to a light Iron Goddess of Mercy oolong at first sip!
It's pretty good for this variety of tea, just mot my favorite kind of green tea.
Pretty mild green, a little smokey but overall it's quite good.
I don't really drink a lot of green tea, so that was perfect for me. Mild and mellow, this is a softer, less astringent green tea.
This was a very nice, traditional cup of green tea. It was just right.
A wonderful green tea with just the right amount of kick. I think I like this one better than gunpowder.
I've had better green teas, but it's not a bad one. It just has a bit too much of a green flavor for me.
It was a visual treat watching the leaves unfurl, but the taste of the tea was just okay. I feel like it wishes it could be gunpowder when it grows up.
It's such a delight to watch this sleeping dragon unfurl when the leaves expand in hot water, and the steeped result is a tea that's not overly smoky, well-balanced with a pretty light-green liquor. A very fine green tea.
A bit grassy for me. I enjoyed it but, this tea was not for me. smokey, grassy, not very sweet. Makes a nice meal tea.
I chose to sample this tea because I loved gunpowder. This tea was a good choice. It tastes a tad lighter than gunpowder, but mostly similar. I love watching the leaves unfurl in my tea pot.
A lot of the time green teas in general just taste leafy to me. This tea was an exception, it was a nice crisp tea with just a hint of smokey flavor. Loved it!
Wonderful! I'd imagine it would be good iced, too.
Nice and good quality green tea. Very similar to a gunpowder.
I had high hopes for this tea and all I got was a musty tasting tea. Thankfully I didn't actually pay for it (free sample).
It is a very pleasant green tea - neither grassy, nor flowery, its flavors quietly envelope and comfort. The dragon is indeed sleeping - and so will all your troubles and worries after a stressful morning. It is a perfect afternoon tea.
I like this tea, but I think I would mostly drink it when I've just had about one hundred cups of gunpowder, and would like to drink something new, albeit very similar.
I believe the sleeping dragon tea gives a darker (although not very much more), smokier flavour than the gunpowder tea. I also enjoy the look of the tea leaves after being steeped. The colour is the same as gunpowder, for the most part. It's a good whenever tea, whenever you have the time for it!
I really enjoy how this tea shifts flavors. It has some delightfully crisp and sweet notes that finish with an earthy richness. I was pleasantly surprised at how well these two combined.
An incredible tea, with an intricate flavor reminiscent of some of the best oolong teas I have ever found.
This green is nice with a squeeze of lemon. Also would be wonderful as iced tea with some fruit inclusions.
Nice earthy taste and not bad if steeped for too long(if you like a more bitter taste).
Very nice great tea and watching the pearls expand makes it fun to brew as well!
The first steeping tastes nice, but the second and third have almost no flavor. It's a decent green tea for the price though.
pretty good, basic green tea. not too crazy.
Its a flavor like gunpowder very full of flavor. Its suggested you use a full teaspoon I would suggest maybe a bit less. I will try 1/2 teaspoon next time.I kept adding water and got almost 3 cups out of that teaspoon.I did enjoy it and will be drinking more. You have to beware of the power of that sleeping dragon.
My sister likes this one as a change from her regular green tea.
i can not tell the difference between this and the gunpowder, neither of them are bad but they seem awful similar
I'm going to have to agree with most of the other reviews here, it did remind me of gunpowder but softer. It was slightly sweet with smoke and a taste which may have just been from letting it sit too long which was approaching bitter but landing just short.
This a a very strong tea, and I have ruined it a few times by brewing for too long or too hot. I mix it with a small bit of an herbal tea which taste well together
A good, light, vegetal green tea. The smoky-ness only comes through a little, which I personally liked as I don't drink green tea as often as other kinds. It's a great starter green tea for me! Also, the one teaspoon of tea is definitely enough - it doesn't look like much when you first use it, but it expands a lot!
For some time now, I've been trying to find a less astringent/vegetal green variety to offer my friends. I think my usual steamed variety has been a bit much for my friends to swallow, and in trying to share my passion with them, I stumbled upon Sleeping Dragon. The tea brews a wonderfully mellow cup, with an aroma reminiscent of a late summer evening, tending more towards autumn than spring. The touch of smoke in the aftertaste adds a nice layer of depth as well. The tea comes off clean, and the leaves are wonderful to watch unfurl as they hydrate. I found the tea to be very forgiving as well, and even after sitting in water for six minutes, the liquid had only a pleasant nibble of bitterness. All in all, I think this will be a tea I keep a few ounces of in my travel container, and at such a low price I encourage everyone to give it a chance.
This is really good quality tea, and I like it for a green tea - I got it as a sample and didn't really know what I was getting. (Purchased it for the name). While not my favorite, it's pretty strong and I'll be keeping it around if I'm in the mood for something a little more mellow.
Not a big green fan, but this was pretty decent. It reminds me a bit of gunpowder but a smoother.
I little too grassy for my taste. Not that it was terrible, but someone else might fancy this more than I did.
Not bad for a green tea. Not as grassy as some though not as robust as my favorite gunpowder.
Sleeping dragon is a grassy pick-me-up of flavor. I'm not sure how to compare it against other green teas I've had, but it certainly ranks among the best.
I actually enjoyed this tea more than the gunpowder. To me it had a much more subtle flavor where the gunpowder was a bit more robust, which is like as well, but this was my fav.
It tastes like other green tea offered here, mostly. Particularly white monkey and dragonwell, but with a very subtle hint of gunpowder. It's decent.
The smoothest green tea in this price range. This is the tea I reach for every morning, even when fancier choices are available.
It's a nice strong green tea. good iced or hot. very yummy with some honey.
This is my favorite variety of green tea. It's got a nice suble smokiness without being as vegetal as gunpowder. I am so happy with this tea!
I am not usually a fan of plain green teas but this is the exception. It gives you the wonders of green tea with out being overpowered by smokiness.
I actually really like this tea. I was expecting to be more put off by it since I usually go for jasmine green, or fruity teas. This was pretty good though. I kinda want to try gunpowder now to see if I will like it as much.
