This variety was less grassy than other green teas I've sampled and that was a plus for me. It was smooth and smelled pleasant.
Fine twisted young leaf that resembles a chun mee style but interspersed with silvery down-covered buds.

This variety was less grassy than other green teas I've sampled and that was a plus for me. It was smooth and smelled pleasant.
Well, this little sprout packs a definitively green punch from the start. The aroma of the dry leaves out of the CommuniTEA pouch immediately calls to mind cooked greens, and the flavor of the brewed tea is reminiscent of steamed greens as well. Yet, this is not as savory as some Japanese green teas. Underneath the savory vegetal notes, there’s a subtle floral sweetness that redeems this tea for this black/white tea lover. It’s tolerable - even pleasant enough - but not my favorite. (1.5 minutes @ 175F)
Mild, straight green tea with subtle grassiness, slight mineral notes, and whispers of earthy flavors. Over all, a nice cup of green. I did not add anything to this. It’s perfect, as is. Cheers!
An earthy, slightly grassy green tea, with a bit of bitterness at the end.
If you are looking for the bright grassiness of a sencha, this isn’t that green. This sip is an earthy, hearty experience. I think the comparison to gunpowder is apt, but the sprout doesn’t have the flinty smokiness that characterizes that brew. It’s very rich and smooth in mouthfeel with a nice hay like quality on the back end of the sip. This one will steep a few times, so sip this on a day where you can sip slowly. I really love this expression of green tea and hope you do too! Happy Sipping!
This tea surprised me! I was expecting some grassiness, as is typical of many green teas, but this cup was extremely smooth and sweet. Really, really nice as a basic green.
Light and vegetal green. Traces of mineral but I really do not get any smoke. A great way to start the morning.
UPDATED from 1/7/21: There is a light, fresh grass aroma filling the CommuniTEA packet. The tea steeps into a light, yellow hay color. The flavor is a light, grassy green tea with a slight astringency but a clear, clean finish. There is also the lightest smokiness to the flavor, and a soft honey sweetness. This needs no sugar or cream. It is lighter than gunpowder, and creamier. I steep it three times, with the third being slightly weaker, but still enjoyable. Ahhh, a tea that gives and gives - a clean, fresh flavor! (3 steeps: 3 mins @ 180F).
I am not usually a fan of Chinese green teas. But that being said I love this tea. It's very light and not to earthy.
Well this was a pleasant surprise - I actually enjoyed this green tea. This is a first for one that doesn't have inclusions. (Lemon Meringue, how do I love thee?) As other reviewers have noted, it is very light in flavour and body, but that was a positive for me. It still has depth, and it has a natural sweetness that made it soothing and enjoyable for starting out the day.
This was a disappointment for me. The deep smokiness was not pleasant to my morning palate. Each sip left a dry bitterness in my mouth.
I prefer light, bright green teas. This one was too heavy.
I don't normally gravitate to green teas. The taste is often too light for me. I prefer the boldness of black tea. BUT...this tea surprised me. Nice floral notes, a bit of sweetness and smoky nuances in the background. Very nice! I let it brew a bit longer out of personal taste and sweetened with a bit of stevia. Lovely! 180F, 4 minutes.
3/16/2023 - Still a green tea that I completely enjoy. Non-grassy with a slightly sweet smoky flavor. Very good cup of tea.
Typically, I’m not a green tea fan. This cup starts off sweet and the grassiness is mild and hits in the back. That I can tolerate! I’m not getting the smokiness others have sensed but I wish I did.
In the bag: Just the dark green tea leaves. Interestingly, the leaves' shape resembles that of Ceylon, not the typical green: it's twisted into thin needles rather than roughly chopped and flat.
On the nose (pre-steep): Light grassy notes. Clean nose feel. Not the usual must or salt I get with most greens.
On the nose (post-steep): Soft notes of cooked grass, which turn into the scent of fresh lawns in spring if I position my nose the right way. Clean nose feel. Weak intensity.
On the tongue: Similar to post-steep scent. No astringency.
Opinion: As usual, I'm not a fan of plain jane green teas. I like them doctored up with additives, but not otherwise. It's hard to get past my biases to rate this tea on its merits, unfortunately.
Preparation: First steep 3 min, second steep 6 min. Both @ 175 ℉. No sweetener.
Soft as mother's touch
Gentle as a summer breeze
Sweet kitten cuddles
Nuanced flavoring
In a soft delicate tea
Good for a few steeps

Silver Sprout
Recommended Steep 180°F for 3 minutes. I steeped at 185°F for 3 minutes since, I don’t have an 180°F setting on my teapot, in approximately 11 oz of water with 1.5 tsp of Adagio tea/rock sugar.
There was no real discernible aroma upon opening, maybe just a touch of grassy-ness. It looks a bit like dried grass, as well. Once steeped all aroma faded, as far as I could tell. First sip, while piping hot was quite sweet. As the tea cooled the grassy-ness became a little more pronounced, and despite the fact that I don’t always like greens, the qualities I enjoy about a good green tea came to the forefront. This tea cools quite well and I would not hesitate to purchase it in the future. 5 stars from me.
This tea is exactly as described by Adagio. A very gentle, slightly sweet green tea, this one goes down too easily! It's not very grassy, but has slight mineral hints to it. Definitely going in my cart!
Light, green tea with some mineral flavoring. I steeped it three times.
This tea is okay if you want a very light green tea. It didn’t have much flavor for me. I tend to prefer more flavorful teas, so that’s just personal preference for me. If you enjoy a light tea with a meal, this will probably work well for you.
Solid mid-range green tea. This one has more of a delicate flavor compared to the other green teas Adagio offers.
My first cup I brewed at 175° for two minutes, and it produced a light yellow green color, while the flavor was mild but good.
Second cup I brewed for three minutes, which brought out a little more depth, while the top notes remained mild.
Overall I’d judge it a nice every day green.
Not a fan of the nuances here. I dont usually follow directions for steeping unless I dislike it just in case and it made no difference here
This tea is a good one to dip your toe into green teas. It has milder earthy/grassy notes than other green teas I have purchased from Adagio.
Very, very mild for a green tea. There's no grassy notes to it, which I find disappointing. But I think this would be a good introduction tea for someone who hasn't had green tea before, or has and disliked the grassy, vegetal flavor some can have.
Really great tea. It was the first time I ordered. Will reorder again and again and again and again.
A nice, slightly astringent green tea. Makes for a very crisp and clean-tasting cup. Will likely become one of my everyday teas.
Perfectly mellow tea with a very smooth finish. Slightly earthy but that is a plus! Definitely a good regular tea for your stash.
Can't say much on this, fairly bland green tea with no remarkable characteristics other than it was slightly floral.
A modest tea that actually surprised me a bit. At first I simply purchased this to try something new and the price was good. I was not expecting much, but I have been content with the tea overall. The fragrance resembles that of clouds and mist, but the taste is much different. Slightly astringent and earthy.
I brewed my Silver Sprout hot with burdock and green tea honey. It is SO good! Obviously a very plain tea, but this may be one of my new favorite plain teas. It takes the sweetness of the honey fairly well, it's only a tad sweet. I would highly recommend this tea!
Very brisk and refreshing cup of green tea. Clear, clean, slightly grassy taste. Would highly recommend.
I did not like this one as much. Tasted too grassy.
Pleasantly inoffensive. Smooth, with slightest hint of gunpowder-smokiness when dry, but otherwise does not seem particularly distinctive. @adagioteas
This one has a vaguely metallic aftertaste, but is otherwise very good. @adagioteas
It's a very nice mild green tea with a hint of smoke at the finish its a pleasure to sip any time
Silver sprout is a lovely green tea from the Fujian province. It steeps to a light colored, gently floral cup perfect for mellow moods. Definitely worth keeping stocked in the tea hoard.
This is a wonderfully full bodied tea. It's great on a cold morning.
This is my everyday morning tea. Its helps me start the day
This sample won't last at my house. It is a nice green. The taste wasn't too strong for me. I got a veggie smell of the tea leaves which I welcomed. My oldest likes green teas like this one. That is what I meant by saying this tea won't last at my house for long.
Delicious-- delicate. Kind of a dry finish, which I only like occasionally, but still tastey.
This green tea is an amazing base if you want to make your own green tea blends because it's strong enough to not be overpowered by lavender, rose hips, or anything you add in, but it doesn't overshadow those other notes you add.
This is a simple and delicious green tea with a strong flavor.
I’d get it again. It’s an in between floral and smokey flavor
A delight! Whole leaves gently unfurl in the cup and produce a straw-coloured liquor that's a faintly buttery, gently green taste. Very smooth, with a faint unexpected floral note on the back of the palate. Second steep (at about a 250) produces a much greener result with diminished butter tones and a more delicate green.
This tea is okay. Compared to other green teas I've been sampling from adagio it is nothing spectacular. One thing to note is this tea has more of a mineral taste, and little grassy or vegetal flavors. So if you prefer your green tea with less grassy taste this might be good for you. For me I like green teas that are more vegetal in flavor. There is also no 'brothy' texture that I've come to love in the pricier green tea.
A good, everyday tea. Great with sushi take out. Not as complex a flavor profile as others but still a solid, entry level green.
This is a good, subtle green tea. Has a delicious silver taste (I quite enjoy nibbling on silver bars occasionally, so I think I can compare it well.)
Really nice and flavorful tea! I was surprised by how easy it was to drink and by how I prefered this over other green teas, and the price is great too.
Good morning, afternoon, or night! This tea will softly sing of its gentle flavorful buds to your welcoming palate! Clean and non grassy, slightly astringent, non bitter. The tea has a subtle floral, smokey aroma, a smooth buttery taste left after each taste. Sprouting with goodness!
amazing cost efficient brothy green, excellent laid-back tea.
considering literally making soup with this.
This is one of the best green teas I've ever had. Love having it after dinner.
