Very light and mild. Great for anyone new to green tea. Smells like hay in the bag and steeps to a pale yellow green color.
Fine twisted young leaf that resembles a chun mee style but interspersed with silvery down-covered buds.

Very light and mild. Great for anyone new to green tea. Smells like hay in the bag and steeps to a pale yellow green color.
A very mild, gentle tea, with a light sweet grassiness with more of a mineral than smoky ending. The dried tea has almost a spinach-like aroma, but that did not carry into the brewed tea, fortunately.
This tea was very smooth and 'light'. Enjoyed sipping while reading my book on a weekend morning.
I usually drink black tea, as most green teas are too “grassy” for me. This tea is a pleasant exception. It has a mellow and complex flavor and a mild butteriness.
Silver Sprout is a nice tea. Nothing spectacular but good.
Delectable; this should be one that every tea newbie and oldie alike should at least try, if not have in their tea-chest. Grassy, smooth, delicately chlorophyl without many of the harsh tannins. Obvious why this is such a perfect base for a variety of fruit and floral flavors, but this would be a choice variety to make jun with, too. Easily could be one of my new daily drinkers, and watching the leaves unfurl is a treat!
Not a fan, personally. I couldn’t catch those floral notes mentioned in the description which I was looking forward to.
Love love love this green tea! There is no bitter flavor and very smooth.
A good green not a favorite by any means slightly grassy. With a hint of smokiness.
My first sip was delightful. This is a gentle green tea that needs no additions. I brewed two steeps per directions 180F 3min. The slightly savory flavor is satisfying and begs you to take another sip. I'm not a frequent green tea drinker but I wouldn't hesitate to offer this one to tea drinking friends. I'd reach for it myself when the green tea mood hit me. Found that an unexpected benefit of sipping this mild green was that it seemed to quell my urge for sweets. Can't complain about that. It was a welcome surprise!
I enjoyed this green tea. Nice flavor and no bitterness when brewed at 175 for 3 minutes
Fair warning - green tea especially plain is not my top choice. Theirs was okay - not one I’d add to my list. CT 4-16-23.
When I saw this tea was compared to gunpowder green, I was excited. I didn't get the smokiness at all and this was a lot lighter. The things I love in the gunpowder were absent, it wasn't bad just mild and geen.
Today's CommuniTea packet was silver sprout, a green tea with silvery buds. My packet wasn't particularly 'bud-ful,' but a pleasant green. Not terribly smoky or grassy, both of which would have been unfortunate to me. Brewed in 12 ounces of 180-degree water for about two and a half minutes.
This is a nice green tea for everyday sipping. It’s basic but lovely.
Buttery flavors that are slightly vegetal with an astringent dryness. I can smell and taste some smokiness, but the other flavors clearly shine through. Despite brewing this a few minutes longer than recommended, the tea does not taste bitter at all. Good for multiple re-steeps.
I really enjoyed this light green tea. Slightly floral and smoky. I enjoyed the flavours more with a little honey.
CommuniTEA portion: 180 steep for 3 minutes. Very much enjoyed this tea. A nice light green. My buds detected mineral notes and a little butter and smoke on the the back end. Great sip!
The description Adagio has for this one is spot on. This tea really reminded me of a light gunpowder. Smoky, touch of astringency and a slight buttery mouthfeel.
It was ok but not a fan of grassy teas or gunpowder.
Tried as a CommuniTEA sample. This tastes like bitter spinach water to me. I'm not normally a green tea drinker so I'm giving this an extra star to account for that.
Not my favorite green but enjoyable! It was astringent when hot but mellowed nicely as it cooled, with smokey flavors and pleasant smoothness.
The aroma was of grass clippings but the tea had a mineral taste. I do not enjoy either of those so this was tried but I will not buy.
Not a huge fan of green tea, but this tasted like stewed seaweed paper. Definitely not my thing.
I found this to be a pleasant, mildly flavorful green tea. I didn’t add any sweetener. I steeped at 175 degrees for 2 minutes for two steeps.
A nice delicate green. I added honey, and its helping to soothe my sore throat nicely! Green, but not grassy, so a good green in my book!
Usual disclaimer that 95% of green teas aren't for my tastes, and this one fell into it. It was light, but the vegetal notes were there, like grass clippings slathered in butter and then smoked. Wasn't a fan; ended up giving it to my mother, who said it tasted like a standard green tea, but with some very, very light smokey notes to it.
nicely roasty flavored and very slightly smokey
I'm e sure what to think of this tea. It's very light for a green tea; it's almost as light as a white tea. Dry, it has only a slight grassy scent and steeped, it doesn't smell any stronger. It doesn't really taste like a white tea, though, which leaves me wondering whether this is a good tea with a special character of its own or a <meh> tea that just doesn't have any character... I think I prefer a tea with a bit more, though.
Pretty tea with a nice flavor. I did not get any grass flavor others are mentioning.
Before brewing, this tea smelled like grass clippings. I was hesitant. My first sip was okay but not great. As it cooled down I really started to enjoy it. It is a very light tea but did not taste grassy at all. I was surprised when I went to take another sip and it was gone! I wanted more! I had to have a second steep!
I decided to brew my tea at a lower temp, hoping to avoid any vegetal flavors this time around. It worked to some extent, it’s more mellow than the last time I tried it. I just am not a big fan of the savory or vegetal types of green tea. This one is ok, but not something I’d buy personally. (175° for 3 minutes.)
The leaves are lovely green, and taste lovely too. Like spring, this tea is grassy, warm, smooth. Very nice as I look out the window on a March scene of rain and snow. I prefer drinking green teas in the summer on hot humid days, but this hit me just right. A most pleasing tea.
Opened the CommuniTEA packet to find some wiry dark green wisps of whole-leaf green tea. The scent of the dry leaves was a bit peculiar to me specifically because it conjured up memories of the smell from some blackberry & raspberry old-time jelly candies which I first experienced at the reconstructed Fort Lancaster commissary in Ft. Lupton, Colorado. This scent was floral with hints of berry candy, gunpowder green tea, and dry straw.
Brewed the tea as a white tea, at the suggested 180°F for 3 minutes. The smell after brewing was still floral but was missing the berry candy element now. The first cup tasted like a light gunpowder green with less smokiness than usual, although still pleasantly present. The taste still had a bit of a subtle flavor reminding me of that berry jelly candy for some reason, without any sugar or sweetness. Although there isn't any berry flavor in this, it somehow still reminded me of the way those candies smelled, possibly because the store which sold them also had gunpowder tea and smelled of straw. The mouthfeel is smooth and reminds me of a milk oolong. Overall a good tea for sipping in the afternoon.
This is a delicate green, nothing overwhelming! I got three good steeps from my leaves, and the second one may have been the best of them.
Very nice, delicate green tea making a pale yellow-green cup. Very smooth with a slight sweetness and a touch of smoky flavor. Some mineral notes, and a clean finish. Very enjoyable.
This green tea is light, but definitely grassy. It's not bitterly vegetal like some can be, but it's not the type of green tea that I would personally reach for.
Sweet notes reminds me of another favorite silver needle. I sampled this Tea as part of the CommuniTEA January Box.
This is a smooth tea with subtle flavor. I loved it!
This is a very mild green tea with a hint of vegetal taste. It's a good plain green tea.
Such a light tea with hints of smokiness and buttery notes that are not overwhelming in the least.
I really enjoyed this particular green tea! It is light, but still very flavorful and vegetal in taste. It was also super smooth and not bitter. I thought it had a hint of sweeter, floral notes to it as well.
I mean, I'm not a green tea fan, this one was just ok, sorta still tastes like yard clippings to me, but mild yard clippings, Since I never put sweetener in any of my tea, I feel I may be at a disadvantage, might try a crystal or two of sugar next go round.
This is a nice cup of tea for being a green tea (not my favorite), smooth, not overly grassy.
A Green cup is always nice for a sense o' taste reset! Having this CommuniTEA cuppa was completely enjoyable, on this day. Great way to bring in the GREEN of the SPRING Equinox time of year. But, do I need this Green in my stash? No. My go-to Green is a Masters, 'Tai lake pi luo chun.' But, I'm sure Mega Green fans would enjoy this toasty, earthy, lightly grassy leaf!
As others have said, this green tea sits solidly on the vegetal side of greens. I found it quite pleasant despite preferring lighter, more earthy green teas, and while it's not my first pick of green teas, I would drink it again.
I'm a newbie in the world of green teas, but I really loved this one. A nice, round flavor that reminded me of matcha. Delicious!
CommuniTEA Sample: A nice green tea that is pretty light, but a bit of a strong vegetal note. A cooler temp of 170 makes a much smoother cup than 180 does.
Plain green teas are often too light for me. This one has a nice strong grassy flavor that I really enjoyed.
I overbrewed my first steep and it wasn't to astringent like most green teas would get when overbrewed. Taste = smokey grass with low acidicity. I would recommend this to all, as the tannins are lower when brewed then most green teas which makes this an easier to drink green tea.
