This tea has a nice grassy start with a hint of an herbal finish. It goes very well with lemon, OR honey. When I add both the green tea flavor tends to get washed out.
Classic steamed tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Rich, brothy texture (when steeped as strongly as you might find in Japan), refreshing aroma. Rounded finish that coats the palate, sweet flavor reminiscent of tender steamed veggies and fresh seaweed.

Always enjoyable, very satisfying Sencha Overture green tea.
I just tried the first sip of this tea. Ah! I have missed Sencha so much. Such a distinct flavor, beautiful tea. Feels nostalgic to me.
Such a delicious and wonderful standard sencha green tea. High quality.
Don't over steep! if your water is to hot you'll over steep. The tannins are strong if you are new to the subtitles of Japanese tea and like something more in your face, might be a place to start. Otherwise I recommend using twice the tea and steeping half the time(as recomended) in this way it makes a good cup
Very enjoyable grassy, almost fruity tea. A bit lighter than other sencha teas we’ve tasted. @adagioteas
Very vegetal and grassy but I enjoyed it none the less, definitely needed honey but a nice green.
Today's CommuniTea was a very pleasant green tea that had a very earthy aroma out of the packet but steeped to a mellow, slightly sweet tea that I enjoyed. Even with getting distracted and letting the water get too hot and steeping a bit too long, there was no bitterness. A second steep was rather bland. Green teas are not my favorite but this tea I enjoyed.
Today's CommuniTea packet is sencha overture. I like sencha as a change of pace, and it can also be an interesting addition to savory food. Today I brewed it in 12 ounces of 175-degree water for two and a half minutes. It was grassy, but very smooth.
Edit for March 31, 2022: Last year when I tried this, I found it not too unpleasant, but today I brewed it and it was very spinachy and bitter. I would not buy this. It's what I would consider 'unpleasant.' I am going to go with an average of 3 stars - last year I gave it 4 and today I give it a 2.

February 3, 2021: This tea is to me just a very basic, plain green tea. It's not overly grassy, and it does not have that spinachy taste, which is great, since some greens have a tendency to taste like spinach water. It's really nothing terribly special. I was able to steep this three times, and the tea was good every time.
This one is okay. It is most certainly a green tea. Broth texture description is spot on.
I do not like green teas at all and this is one of them. I would not have chosen this had it not been for the CommuniTEA. It tastes like spinach water. Perhaps it would taste ok as a soup broth or to cook your greens in, but as a tea-no thanks!! I am only giving 3 stars because it lives up to the description. For my tastes I would give it 1 star.
Reading descriptors of brothy, green and seaweed will make you either run towards a tea or run very far away. I used to run away but, after discovering that brewing temp really is important, I savor each time I get to drink a green tea. Now I am having fun exploring the green side. This one had a slightly sweet grassiness with a mild buttery mouthfeel, enjoyable through multiple steeps.
I really enjoy this sencha. I find that greens have a lot of personal character and variability. I suspect the way this one is cut/rolled? into longer bits brings forth a bit of magic from the leaf. I'm not adverse to 'vegetal' or 'grassy' tastes -- in fact I find the almost umami component in greens charming. If you're a fan of green teas with *presence* you won't regret trying this one.
steeped at 165 for 2-3m
An earthy scent, that reminds me of spring... but very light in flavour. Quite a nice taste on its own, and would make a great base for other blends.
A perfect drink for a quiet evening with a book.
This is a delightful, grassy green! The flavor has mineral undertones and has a rich mouth feel. Brew this at a lower temperature to prevent bitterness, and you will get 2 to 3 steepings out of it (if not more).
This tea has a much stronger flavor then most green teas I have tried in the past, unfortunately that flavor didn't speak to me. I would best describe this flavor as a slightly sweet, very fishy, seaweed.
Not my cup of tea the flavor was light and the color was light, (165 @3min).
What a lovely, classic green tea. I read a couple of reviews before steeping, and I'm glad I did - a low temperature, quick steep did the trick, and produced a tasty, nuanced green with very little bitterness. The second steep might have been better than the first!
I’m not a fan of grassy green teas but it was CommuniTea’s tea of the day. I kept the water temp low and only steeped for 2 minutes, and the flavor was pretty mild. It didn’t have any harsh tastes, so as green teas go, it was good.
a pleasant green tea. I brewed as suggested at 165 for 3 mins.
CommuniTEA 3/31/22: brew this super cool! It brings out the sweet spinach taste. Super smooth and bright. Slightly sweet.
160°F with 2 ice cubes, 2 minutes
This tea is very reminiscent of seaweed. Which I appreciate when I have texture with the flavor (seaweed salad, sushi), but not in full liquid form. If that’s your jam, this is probably a great example of its ilk!
Good overall green tea. Compared to other Sencha, I'd prefer this one
A simple green tea. I forget how much I enjoy this. It is smooth and delicious if brewed at 165 . Good thing my kettle has a setting that low. I saw some reviews for cold brewing. I will try that next time for sure.
I can tell this is not the tea for me. I got a thermometer out so that I could be sure the water was exactly 165 degrees, then did just under 3 minutes. The wet tea reminded me of cooked spinach and the tea looked like the water from my spinach noodles. It didn't taste like spinach - but it did not appeal to me at all. Glad that others enjoy it, but not one for me.
It's a beautiful looking tea, the leaves are lovely to watch as they unfurl. However, it is a strong green grassy flavor for me. I am not sure I brewed it correctly, this one needs more research in the process for me
A nice well rounded green! Not too grassy, even though the packet smelled like lawn mowing day. I added cream and sugar to mine, and it was very nice!
Definitely not my cuppa tea. I know how popular this one is with the green tea lovers, obviously I’m not one. It tasted like I rung out grass cuttings in my cup. This is not one for a newbie to greens, this is for the serious green tea lovers.
First and foremost I am a green tea fan. I start my days with a cuppa of Matcha so the freshness/grassy aroma of this Sencha is perfection to me. The dark/steamed leaves offer a unique greenness that is only available with Japanese green teas. I particularly enjoy the buttery/umami flavor. I love the offerings of the terrior from true/unblinded teas.
Steeping Notes — 195 or less in a tea traveler, Grandpa style.
This is a very nice soft green tea. I don’t taste too much grassiness. I added a smidge of honey.
This tea smells like matcha but the flavor is much more brothy. It is vegetal and smooth with a mild astringency. It definitely has a seaweed flavor to it, but there's also a smoothness and toastiness to it that almost reminds me of buttered popcorn. (In fact, I may just go home tonight and have popcorn with furikake now that I've thought of it!) I normally drink fun flavored teas, but this is a good reminder that I really like plain green teas too!
I steeped my communiTea packet of this at work so I'm uncertain of the temperature, but I filled up my mug 1/3 with cold water and 2/3 with hot and that seems to have worked well.
This contemplative green is full of deep, salted seaweed flavor. As others mentioned, this would pair very well with a meal. This isn't one I would drink often, but it is certainly a high quality tea.
This tea is a little too savory for my liking. I would rather have tea that is sweet or bold and I am not a fan of the more vegetal and grassy green teas which is how I found this one to taste. If you like grassier noted teas, you might really like this one. Unfortunately, I am not a fan.
31 Mar 2022 CommuniTEA portion: Still Love It!
22 Feb 2022 - A lovely green. My cup had just the right taste of grassy and vegetal. Not bitter at all, very smooth. Beautiful golden color on a quick steep. Kept the temp and steep at 2/165 for 3 steeps and taste was consistent. Putting it on my 'to buy again' list.
Smells like seaweed and heavy on vegetal notes. I prefer my green teas with a little more natural sweetness, but this is great for those who prefer those grassy flavors.
A bit too vegetal for my taste. While I love green teas, this was a bit too 'grassy' for me. Now awful, but just OK
This is such a a delicious green tea, light and lovely, yet it has a rich depth of sweet vegetal flavors. Also a smooth mouthfeel with no bitterness. Every time I have a cup it is more enjoyable than the last.
Steeped at 160 for 2 minutes.
last year:Enjoyed the vegetal, umami flavors of this tea. It was a delicious tea to enjoy with my dinner. A lovely savory green tea.
This tea was just o.k. for me. It was enhanced with a touch of honey.
I love green tea. This is a smooth and grassy tasting light green tea. If you are new to green tea or don't like the taste this would be a good one to try because it isn't as heavy (earthy and mineralish) as other green teas
An interesting green delicately steeped at 165. Reminiscent of nori, this would be a great accompaniment to a meal.
Sencha is my favorite green tea, hands down. It is the essence of vegetal goodness in a cup. The tea’s grassiness is very bold and the umami notes are rich and deep. I also love the calming effect sencha has. Drink this on a day when you can resteep multiple times and let the zen set in. For me, this tea is the height of the traditional Japanese tea experience and I adore it. I can’t recommend it enough. Happy Sipping!
As others have noted, this is a good example of savory green tea. The vegetal flavors and grassy aromas are strong, but a cautious, short steep yields a pale green tea that's tolerable for this timid green tea drinker. It won't be a favorite, but I can appreciate it and with the right meal (it is better with food, particularly something more savory), I can see it being a good accompaniment. (1.75 minutes @ 175F)
My kettle’s variable temperature settings start at 175 degrees. Some mornings even a 175 degree start seems to take forever but not today. I shut it off as soon as it hit 175 and the temperature recorded soared up to 195! I eventually poured water into my mug and used my instant read thermometer until it got to almost 165. I do enjoy a delicate tea like this when I’m eating tasty Asian meals. The clean, astringent flavor was refreshing. I steeped for 2 minutes the first time and a little more than 1 minute the second time. Very nice.
Very light, clean and crisp mouthfeel. A very delicious tasting green tea was not grassy to me. A Very good price for an exceptional green tea.
Very nice green tea, but I didn't get a strong grassy taste. I steep 2 minutes: temp 175 : 12 oz CT mug: The tea was a very clean finish with a kind of veggie , broth taste. I have had this tea before and it is very finnicky, so don't over steep or to high temp.
Tastes like green seaweed; so Adagio advised; or vegetal broth!
A tea that holds up; It can pair well with a meal; or be sipped, alone (Haiku review)
Very nice green tea with a soft body. Tastes of fresh greens and a little of minerals from the sea. Light astringency at the finish for a very refreshing cup. I could drink this every day.
When I opened today's packet, it smelled like the teas I used to drink when I was a kid, and the packet we used to put in our bowls of rice (that's probably what Adagio describes as a seaweed flavor). It was awesome. I got three cups out of my packet, each one as good as the first. This is a great tea to have with a Japanese meal or to sit and savor. Take time to enjoy it. Edit: Still a great cup of tea.
Like others, I can’t bring myself to say this tea is “bad” simply because I am not a fan of green teas. It has its place, as reviews from others will attest, it’s just not in MY cup.
