Classic steamed green tea from Shizuoka, Japan. Crisp and clean cup, notes of freshly steamed edamame. Refreshing, sweet, and much more delicate than most Senchas. If you're new to Sencha (and the vibrant teas of Japan in general), this would be a great place to start.

I tried this tea at a tasting I attended; it's a good light tea to drink any time.
Very fresh tasting grassy green flavor, it does iget strong very quickly. I usually switch between this And the Phoenix Jasmine pearls, I also add a little Rubio’s orange for my own mixture.
Traditional Japanese green tea. Even green in the cup unlike the Chinese green teas. Expect a slightly grassy almost matcha like flavor which quickly becomes astringent when over steeped.
This is a great blend! I love it! Not too strong, but very smooth. Just the perfect amount of creamy flavor to it. I think it s definitely worth checking out!
Very good sencha green, but tbh not so much better than the Overture that I feel it’s worth the increased price.
Fantastic quality Japanese green tea. If you like sencha, this is a must. Really superior.
Like Adagio's Irish Breakfast, this sencha premier is a good staple tea. If I didn't love the gyokuro so much, I'd probably keep a backstock of this tea as my go-to green.
A delicious, sweet smell followed by a smooth taste free of biting bitterness. 1 teaspoon is all that's needed unless you're used to a more pronounced flavor (2 teaspoons in that case). I typically steep for 2 minutes; capable of pulling the green coloring and taste without burning the leaves. An excellent tea for those first adventuring into loose leaf tea and my go-to for a relaxing 3PM cup of tea.
This tea is great for people who think green tea it’s not good (and trust me I know few of them) but this will change their minds
I have been drinking green tea just about daily for 10 years. Never have I found a green tea with such quality and affordability. I continually have a pound of this tea around my home!
Love the Sencha Premier. I've had it from other sources and this one is the best - smoothest Sencha I have had. I have added it to my auto delivery!
Sweet and not overpowering. A flavorful tea. I like a cup in the evening. Does not keep me awake.
Good Taste, standard Sencha. Cannot go wrong here. Be careful with brewing times as flavors are very delicate.
light and mild green tea. Perfect for relaxing on a day off
This tea was surprising to me. I like really strong teas and usually take the water up to full boil before steeping for 15 minutes even on most green teas. However, this one I decided to follow up with YouTube to see a few brewing videos and followed the 1 minute and low temperature brewing instructions. Low and behold I got a decent strength tea that actually tasted pretty good. I played around with the temperature and timing on subsequent steepings and found that it really is that specific. If you over heat it or over steep it, the result is so bitter it s undrinkable. I also tried small quantities of honey and lemon juice, but it resists all additives. This tea is best on it s own. I will definitely be buying more when I get a chance.
A little more savory than sencha overture and just as enjoyable. Grassy smell and makes a bright spring-green tea. With low temperature water, I found it surprisingly resistant to oversteeping, especially on later infusions. With the short steep time, you can definitely get a few brews out of this as the leaves unroll.
It's a fine Sencha, nothing special, good for maybe 2 brews before discarding the leaves. Again, seems to be overpriced for the quality.
Thought I’d love this since I liked Overture but it just didn’t impress me.
Its good but i prefer Sencha Overture, try them both, cant beat the price for sample sizes
this is good green tea to have at home.it has good taste.i am reordering this tea again
A lighter green, with more of a delicate, airy flavor than the gunpowder. I like both, for different moods. If chillded, I prefer Sencha, as it gives that traditional satisfying cool light flavor that you think of when you think of iced green tea
I normally am not a fan of sencha, but after seeing the reviews of this one I decided to order a sample. This is the first sencha I like! It is very mild and has that textbook hint of grassiness that Japanese green teas are known for. Overall it is a solid green tea that I may end up ordering more of.
First introduction to sencha. Love the flavor. Has more body than other green teas.
Love Sencha Premier. It's a very clean tasting green tea with a delicate flavor. Do not use boiling water or over brew this tea or you will end up with a bitter brew.
Best tea...I use a strainer with the raw tea, let it sit 5-8 minutes. Wonderful!
A nice green tea with no fishy taste. Bought this as a sample and will be buying it again.
Smooth and subtle when steeped for the correct duration. Once, I let it steep for too long and it was still very good.
Not a bad sencha...but not in my favorite category, of green teas. It has more of a grassy small and taste, which isn't my jam. But if that's your jam, this is lovely.
NOTE: I am an iced tea drinker. My reviews are based off of brewing/steeping accordingly, adding sugar or honey, then pouring over ice. ”
This is the best sencha I've had, very fresh grassy taste to it
A little grassy and heavy. A cow morning cup o'tea
Consider others.
Really good, high quality leaves (no stems). Good tea
Will definitely be purchasing again. Doesn’t have to be a special occasion sencha, it’s great for every day. Love it!
Clean and pure flavor. Not too light and not too bold.
Wow! Such a beautiful green tea! I smelled it when opening the bag and my senses were hit with a grassy, sweet scent. After brewing, the liquor turns to a pale yellow/green. To my palette, the taste is complex and doesn't need an 'doctoring' from sugar. An earthy start, followed by a very pure, grassy taste and it finishes with smooth, almost buttery notes. This tea runs circles around anything at my local grocer.
Very enjoyable cup of green tea. Slightly different taste than the overture.
I like Gyokuro much better. This lacks the depth of flavor. It's not bad, but not my cup of tea.
I generally find senchas to be a bit too grassy and sharp. It's easy to over-steep (even by seconds, and I use a timer), and it's easy to use just a bit too many leaves (even if you're using a measuring spoon) and wind up with a very sour cup indeed. This one is good, and when brewed correctly was fairly mellow, but it's still not my cup of tea.
I don't know if I would pay extra for this tea, but it was tasty.
I am brand new to green tea. I know enough that 'grassy' is a common way to describe the flavor. I thought I would start at the top, with a good, well reviewed, smooth green sencha. I wasn't disappointed. Right out of the package is smells lush and grassy, a smell that is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Brews into a nice clear green. The flavor is mellow and smooth, grassy and green, like the smell (is there another way to describe it?). If the temp is too high, or steeps for too long, it can become bitter and astringent.
Good relaxing tea. Upsets my stomach but I think that is just my chemistry and has nothing to do with the tea.
I ve been buying the Sencha Overture for years, and I really like it, but now that I ve finally gotten around to splurging a bit on the Premier...I may have found a replacement. It just has more of that sweeter quality to it that I like compared to the Overture, and a bit more complexity as well.
I use Sencha Premier as my basic tea to drink in the morning. I also drink it because I have had cancer and believe that it is one of the teas with the most polyphenols. I also like the taste of the tea. I use a combination of Sencha Premier and Ceylon Senata to make a very great tasting tea that is consumed cold.
I have to say I found this to be just very unobjectionable for a sencha. It's very low key. Some vegetal flavor, a tiny hint of stone fruit, but for me it was just an echo of what I expect from sencha. Totally fine as a daily drinker, but I'm searching for more flavor.
I’ve had a lot of sencha tea before but this one is excellent. Very clean and light. I’ll be buying this one from now on.
This sencha is the best flavor I have sipped and also well worth the price. I used to joke that sencha was the poor man’s gyokuro until I tried this! I enjoy it in the middle of the day over Gyokuro it is really delightful.
I prefer this sencha to the sencha overture. Nice and mellow.
This is my favorite green tea. I have reordered it for a second time.
I thought it might be interesting to sample Sencha Premier and Gyokuro side-by-side. To my untrained eye, the dry leaf looked identical (a darker shade of green than Sencha Overture). I brewed them simultaneously in separate teapots, at 158°F (first infusion) followed by 176°F (second infusion) for 2 minutes each.
Both brewed to a golden green-tinted yellow, with the Gyokuro liquor visibly lighter in color (less opaque) than that of Sencha Premier. I've heard Gyokuro described as 'sweet' and 'umami', but I tasted more of both attributes in Sencha Premier. Although I enjoyed both, I favored the stronger 'bite' of Sencha Premier over the more mellow Gyokuro.
This is my go to tea. It is the perfect intensity while still being very refreshing. I personally like it either hot or cold, I love it! I brew it at 165 for 1:30 and it always comes out perfect.
